If you're coming into this Christmas exhausted or empty, it may be because you're focused on secondary things—from finding the perfect gift to enduring the imperfect family gathering. In this timely message of hope, John and Stasi reorient us to the deeper, truer story of Advent season—which is both a celebration of Christ's first coming as a babe in the manger and an anticipation of his second coming as King. Your Christmas joy will increase exponentially as you look not only back at Jesus' arrival into our world, but forward to his return._______________________________________________There is more.Got a question you want answered on the podcast? Christmas is a season for a MIRACLE. The Miracles of Christmas: 1. The ANNOUNCEMENT Luke 1:26-30 In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. Your Christmas miracle: God has a PLAN! “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”—Corrie Ten Boom 2. The CONCEPTION Luke 1:31, 34-35 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Your Christmas Miracle: God can do the IMPOSSIBLE! “If God is your partner, make your plans big!”—D.L. Moody 3. The INCARNATION John 1:1-4, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Your Christmas Miracle: God is not DISTANT! Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. “I am as sure as I live that nothing is so near to me as God. God is nearer to me than I am to myself; my existence depends on the nearness and the presence of God.”—Meister Eckhart 4. The VISITATION Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:10-11 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Your Christmas Miracle: Your God is a PROVIDER!
How are you doing with joy these days? Joy is one of the themes of the first Advent of Christ. When Mary (pregnant with Jesus) comes to visit Elizabeth (pregnant with John the Baptist) the Scriptures tell us that John “leaped with joy” in the womb of Elizabeth (Luke 1:44). The angel's word to the shepherds was, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people” (Luke 2:10). Christmas is a reason for joy – but joy isn't just found in the warmth of family gatherings and joy isn't just found in the gift that you have been hoping for - Christmas tells us that joy is found in a Person... He's in the manger... He's been promised... He's Heaven come to Earth to be with us... in Him is fullness of joy! Your Christmas get together may not go perfectly... maybe you won't receive that gift you've been hoping for... but rest assured, joy can be yours this Christmas!

I get the scoop on ALL of what Malcom's cooking up for me this Christmas (17:03)... I've seen plenty of kitchen gadgets, but this one might be next on my Christmas list (22:49). Everyone loves getting food gifts at Christmas, but does anyone ACTUALLY like fruit cake (26:12)? Here's a recipe for those braver than us to give a shot (28:30). I give the spill on my TOP SECRET holiday cheese ball recipe (32:52). What are Malcom's favorite drinks to kick off the holiday season (38:28)? We've seen many of marinades in our time cooking, but this one is a little… spotty (42:01) Finally, we close out with answering some of YOUR Christmas cooking questions (44:56), and what Malcom's gearing up to cook here on this holiday break (55:12)!
Your Christmas friends Calvin & Perla (follow on LB: pxcaballero) discuss cinema's weightiest Christmas film, Todd Haynes' exceptional Carol (2015). How do we perceive each other, Carol asks, at a perfect remove, characters stand back and observe one another. They take each other in. There is a boldness to let the movie happen, to always place the camera in the right place, having all the costumes right, having the right script, the right actors, the right everything, that goes right all the time. This is an intoxicating holiday concoction where characters hold their spaces on-screen, spaces that are of themselves and for each other. Always watching, standing in the back, perceiving, as we perceive them. Then it all comes together and is simply one of the greatest statements in romantic filmmaking. Carol is the best gift movies have given us for holidays and now we play it back for you. We wish all of our friends a safe and happy holiday season full of good movies and good cheer. Come for the holiday cheer and stay for the in-depth Carol discussion, starting at 41:43.

Welcome to another episode of the Cadillac Jack – My Second Act podcast. Hide your grandmas. Caddy was dismissed from ham duty. You made it! We all made it! We got through Thanksgiving in one piece. Caddy did great – well, mostly. He got at least some of his food shopping done and he picked up Nana for the festivities. That's a whole different story though. It got us to talking about ageing and how we as humans and family members cope with loved ones getting older and losing some of their facilities. It's hard, but it's a part of life and it is our duty to protect and cherish our elders. Speaking of Thanksgiving…anyone else do any Black Friday shopping? We know they did in Alpharetta! Donna's story was slammed. It is really something to observe retail shoppers – especially on Black Friday. Now bring on Christmas! There is also a story about something…smelly and gross that happened on a Frontier flight over the weekend. And you KNOW we are going to discuss how good Dolly Parton looked during the halftime of the Cowboys game. 77 years old? Are you kidding me?! What's on YOUR Christmas list this year? Let us know. Text or call 770-464-6024.
We take a look at the 2023 Hallmark Christmas movie list and make our predictions on which movies will make the menu. Your Christmas table is ready!

Are you ready for Christmas Day? Your Christmas meal has been planned, everything is wrapped nicely, and the house is clean. Many have been planning and preparing for this day since some point in November, or maybe even October probably. It leads to wonder, are we ready for Jesus? Today of all days, is a day for us to consider and ask if we are ready for Jesus, and more directly ready to receive King Jesus? We conclude our Christmas series, Fulfilled: His Promise Kept, Our Longing Met, where we will discover how Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promises to us. Matthew has shown from these ancient prophecies in Scripture that Jesus is bringing the Kingdom of God. Which leads us to ask, how should we respond or seek to relate to Jesus the King? Just like we seek to be ready for Christmas Day, and if Jesus truly is the King, bringing in the Kingdom of God, we should make sure we take the right posture. Listen to our last message in our series, Preparing for the King, and let's Get Ready to Receive King Jesus!

The second to last week of new 2022 Christmas tv movies is done and we have a lot to discuss! First up, let's talk about Amazon Prime trying to sneak in Christmas movies against my knowledge- don't worry I watched them. Your Christmas or Mine is definitely a watch, but leave Hotel For The Holidays alone. Hallmark had a so-so week this week, starting surprisingly strong in my opinion with The Most Colorful Time of the Year, then falling a bit off on Christmas Class Reunion, Movies and Mysteries went a third straight week making me ugly cry with The Gift of Peace, and rounding out with a resounding win in The Holiday Sitter (despite the plot, house, and mom being the same as Christmas Next Door). Lifetime was Lifetime with Scentsational Christmas and A Recipe for Joy, but won the Saturday spot with Kirk Franklin's The Night Before Christmas, and then finished with another A+ title and plot but bad chemistry with Single and Ready to Jingle. UpTV only had two movies this week, A Royal Christmas Match was better than expected but still nothing overly special, and then absolutely shocking us with Santa's Got Style featuring Franco Lo Presti. Hallmark, get on the phone and get this man in movies! And then there was GAC Family. I've finally come to the conclusion that I am running away from home and emancipating myself from them next year after The Art of Christmas and Crown Prince of Christmas, aka the worst Christmas movie I've ever seen. Ever. There's no way they actually think they're competing with the other channels right? Right?? Listen to all that and more now! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
What do you do if you get in an accident? Our Traffic Kitty Kenny tells us what to do. Alexis watched "Your Christmas or Mine" on Prime; what'd she think? Holly shared some new holiday music from Alicia Keys, Joss Stone and Jeff Goldblum. Plus, streaming services invented this...? LOL!
Sehr fremdschamkitschig...misslingt Lindsay Lohans Schauspielcomeback mit Falling for Christmas, das trotz schöner Bergkulisse weit jenseits unserer Schmerzgrenze stattfindet. Als herzerwärmenden Weinhachtsfilm empfehlen wir euch stattdessen Your Christmas or Mine?

Dearest Mama, take some time this Christmas season to put away your to-do list so you can spend some time with your Savior, the One who loves you more than any other. Sit in His presence with your Bible and soak in His great love for you- His wide and long and high and deep love. Your Christmas season will be so much more meaningful as you ponder Jesus!"Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:15

This is important. This is what I hoped this would be. Thank you Corbin Adam, and Jeffrey. Conversation is hard. It takes practise. No one is great instantly, and what you're hearing is a collective sixteen years of podcasting experience in thinking, communicating, listening, and driving toward meaningful results from a open and honest discussion. I'm honestly not sure we developed many answers in this episode but what I did find amazing and unique is the disaplans used to meet the topic.Turns out. Hello Mama who may have had her share of disappointing Christmases…Welcome to the 3rd episode in a series called Cultivating Christmas Calm – How to Have a Holiday Season You Actually Enjoy. You might want to go back and listen to Episode 6 and 7 – two under 15-minute episodes that will help you navigate a calmer and happier holiday season. I'm the mom who worked way too hard to make everyone in my family's Christmas wishes come true. Anybody else? In a nutshellI bought way too many gifts and collapsed into bed at about 4 am Christmas morning. I did “all the things” – class parties, baking, baked for them, assemblies, services, events, and activities.I bedecked every inch of my home. I loved most of it. The problem was I believed if I didn't do it all, Christmas would be disappointing, to me or someone I loved. As a result, Christmas was exhausting and depleting. And no matter what lengths I went to, Christmas was disappointing to someone. In previous episodes, I've asked questions to help you determine your highest holiday priorities. And hopefully you've discovered the one word that can make this your happiest holiday season yet – NO! I want to return to the topic of disappointment. Often our disappointments in life are based on dashed expectations. We have something in mind, and we may not even know it. But when our reality doesn't match up with that picture in our minds, we feel disappointed. I'd like to suggest a few things you can do this Christmas to manage expectations so they don't lead to disappointment. 1. Make a plan for gift-giving. Adopt a Gift Rule for your kids…and spouse. Determine a budget.Opt for a family gift exchange. A gift-giving plan means you, your kids, spouse, and other family members have clear expectations of what they're getting for Christmas. It helps you with decision-making. And it keeps gift-giving from spiraling out of control. 2. Another idea for managing expectations and avoiding disappointment is to have a little Celebrating the Holidays family meeting. Keep this meeting to 15 to 30 minutes at the most. Invite each family member to talk about what Christmas celebrations and activities matter most to them.Write down (on a calendar ideally) one activity, event, tradition for each person. 3. Don't forget the Reason for the Season. Have an Advent Wreath Give each child a Jesus-themed Advent Calendar Choose an Advent Family Devotional or Book Just Google to find all the above. I know it can be hard to slow down enough to be intentional about Christmas, but I promise it's worth the effort. Your Christmas will be more calm and bright!Lord, I lift up this precious mama today. Will you free her up to have a happy Christmas this year? Help her to find the space to do the things that bring her and her family joy. Give her clarity and confidence to make decisions and plans that guide her to a calm and beautiful holiday season. Please Lord, meet this mom right where she is in the middle of her busy life. Show this mama you hear the cries of her heart. In Jesus name amen!
