Welcome to the Millennial Special Anniversary Edition—we're celebrating 50 years of Star Wars by doing what we do best: connecting fictional universes to our very real problems. Then we get into the real meat: how the Prequel Trilogy—Episodes 1-3—basically predicted the slow-motion collapse of democracy. We draw the obvious parallels to modern executive overreach, the erosion of checks and balances, and how Congress just... stopped checking anything. We even dig into what George Lucas actually said about all this—spoiler: he was thinking about Vietnam, Nixon, and the way democracies don't get overthrown, they get given away. We're also connecting the dots between fictional servitude and the very real greed on display right now, complete with a deep dive into Walmart's electronic price tags that could—with existing tech—charge you a different price based on what the system thinks you can afford. On theme for this week, we're keeping our recommendations pop culture centric: The 'Family Guy' Star Wars parodies (Eric) and the 2009 film 'Fanboys' (Pam). In After Dark, we're getting personal with some lighter questions: What's your Roman Empire? Have you experienced a friendship breakup? What do you think you'll be like at 80? Join us as Pam and Eric get to know each other better. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The 2026 VW show season is officially underway, and Bill is gearing up for one of the biggest Volkswagen adventures of the year. Before heading overseas, Bill will be taking the legendary Type 34 Karmann Ghia "Zorba" to two major events: Luft Zeigen on June 13th and the EMPI 70th Anniversary Celebration on June 20th. From there, the journey continues across the Atlantic to the United Kingdom, where he'll pick up the famous orange Katastrophenschutz Bus and begin an epic European road trip. The route will take Bill and friends from the UK across the Netherlands and into Germany for the world-famous Hessisch Oldendorf Volkswagen Treffen, one of the most significant vintage VW events on the planet. After Germany, the adventure continues through Europe before arriving in Belgium for the legendary European Bug-In at Chimay, where thousands of air-cooled Volkswagen enthusiasts gather each year. Joining Bill this week is longtime friend and VW builder Andy Finch, who shares the details of the upcoming trip, the planning involved in driving a classic Volkswagen across multiple countries, and some of the incredible destinations, collections, and VW enthusiasts they'll be visiting along the way. Andy also gives listeners an inside look at what's happening at his shop, including several exciting restoration projects, new builds, and some fresh equipment and products he'll be unveiling this season. The conversation dives into vintage Volkswagen culture, European road-tripping, restoration craftsmanship, and the friendships that make the VW community unlike any other automotive hobby in the world. Whether you're dreaming about driving a split-window Bus across Europe, attending Hessisch Oldendorf, or simply love hearing stories about classic Volkswagens and the people who keep them alive, this episode is packed with adventure, history, and plenty of VW talk. We can also never thank Russel Richie enough for being so involved in the VW seem to put so much of this together. We'll have him on the podcast real soon. “Today is all about 7's…” We can't believe it…it's officially been SEVEN years since we began our podcasting journey, and as of this episode, we are celebrating SEVEN years of heavy metal podcasting excellence! And in the spirit of heavy metal greatness, what better way to celebrate and commemorate the completion of our SEVENTH year than a tribute to the best thing MTV ever did for metal heads that started way back in the late 80's: HEADBANGERS BALL!!! “It was the novelty, because that was the only place where you could get it…” Premiering on Saturday April 18, 1987, MTV began what would become a weekly Saturday night tradition and/or ritual for metal heads with HEADBANGERS BALL, the one section of MTV that belonged to the metal community…it was OUR show, OUR music, and OUR videos, made by metal heads for metal heads (ironically, not unlike this podcast). “SEVEN!” Granted, there were often a lot of glam and hair metal videos mixed in, but there were always a plethora of obscure thrash, power metal, and other assorted heavy metal videos on there that you absolutely could not see anywhere else on MTV except for when you tuned in to “The Ball” (NOTE: this is where the crochety “back in my day” sentiment comes into play because, as everyone with access to the internet knows, in the late 80's, rock radio sure as hell wasn't doing much to promote metal artists, and we certainly didn't have Spotify or YouTube at our disposal. “The Ball” was all we had…mark the time.). “They weren't Trans then, dude…they were 100% dudes and they were the Savatage Brothers…” Break out your finest relaxers and get ready for a celebratory stroll down memory lane, and understand that since we're discussing music videos, you're gonna need all the sensory enhancement you can muster to thoroughly maximize your enjoyment of this episode. Find out who's “lips are always out”, understand why calling a woman “handsome” is a dangerous move even with the proper context, see how many applicable references to “SEVEN!” you can find in this episode, and don't deny the power of “The Dinklage” when you JOIN US as we celebrate our 7th birthday in nostalgic style with HEADBANGERS BALL. Cornerstone Church celebrates 30 years of God's faithfulness, tracing its remarkable journey from humble beginnings to community transformation. The story begins with Pastor Henry and Doris Hunkapiller's missionary work in Liberia, whose legacy continued through their daughter Georgie and her husband Pastor Artie Davis. Despite initial reluctance after previous church planting failures, God called them to start something different in Orangeburg. From a small gymnastics center to the Willington campus, and finally to the miraculous acquisition of the old Winn-Dixie building, God has consistently provided beyond human understanding. This legacy reminds us that we live in the shade of trees we didn't plant, and challenges us to continue building for future generations through faithful obedience to God's calling.
Today we celebrate a century of God's faithfulness at Bethel Church. From a handful of families gathering to pray in 1926 to the vibrant church family we are today, this milestone isn't a finish lineit's a reminder that the mission continues. As we reflect on God's faithfulness over the past 100 years, we're reminded that our lives are not measured merely by time, but by moments of faith, obedience, sacrifice, and surrender. The baton is now in our hands. The mission isn't finished. The future is calling. Let's keep running.

Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair unites Volume 1 and Volume 2 into a single, unrated epic, presented exactly as he intended. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, left for dead after her former boss and lover Bill ambushes her wedding rehearsal, shooting her in the head and stealing her unborn child. To exact her vengeance, she must first hunt down the four remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad before confronting Bill himself. With its operatic scope, relentless action, and iconic style, The Whole Bloody Affair stands as one of cinema's definitive revenge sagas, rarely shown in its complete form, and now presented with a classic intermission. Miramax Films and The Church of Tarantino Podcast presents Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 20th Anniversary Celebration. One things for sure, she's going to Kill Bill. For 20 years, Valley Health's Metabolic and Bariatric Program has been changing lives in the Northern Shenandoah Valley — and it's almost never about the number on the scale. On this Community Health Day edition of The Valley Today, host Janet Michael sits down with Dr. Christopher Reed (Medical Director and Surgeon), Tiffany Sommer (Nurse Practitioner), and Jennifer Adsit (Registered Dietitian) to talk about why obesity is an incurable disease that requires lifelong support, and how a team-based approach has built the program's reputation. The conversation moves through the multiple "pathways" patients can take — medical weight loss, GLP-1 medications, endoscopic procedures, and surgery — why surgery is still the most durable option for the right patient, and what life actually looks like before, during, and after treatment. Plus: a preview of the program's 20th anniversary celebration on June 10th, open to past, current, and potential future patients alike. He shares the history of Emerson's Spanish immersion program, one of the oldest in Minnesota, and explains how the school's dual language model helps students build bilingual skills, cultural awareness, and academic success. Hensel gives listeners a preview of the Emerson Centennial Celebration on May 29, featuring student performances, cultural dance groups, food, and opportunities for the community to reconnect and share memories. The conversation also highlights how Emerson continues to serve families from across Minneapolis while honoring a century of learning and community connection.

Welcome back to SURFACE NOISE — the show of record, talking records. Join the panel as we dive into the latest current events across the vinyl record collecting world, break down hot topics shaping the hobby today, and share real-world perspectives from collectors who live this culture every day. In the current events segment, we hit on: (1) The loss of a producer who made early Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, and solo John Lennon records sound great (Jack Douglas) (2) The Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds" One Step (DSS) is ready to ship. Is the "hype train" in full effect, making us itch with FOMO? (3) The official news of "Chad Fest" - The 40th Anniversary Celebration of Acoustic Sounds has landed. What do we think of the news, the pricing, and the vinyl fellowship in store direct from Salina, KS Oct 15-18th? From there the guys discuss an often misunderstood myth about vinyl - that everything on vinyl automatically sounds better....or warmer...or worth it. We dig into some of the real recipe for a good sounding record, regardless of the format it's released on, including the continued return of CD's (they are back, BAYBAY). Why do some other forms of physical media sound better to us (calling all cassette fans, 8-track collections, and even reel-to-reel enthusiasts) also outperform their vinyl counterparts? From vinyl trends, market shifts, pressing quality, record store culture, Discogs debates, audiophile upgrades, concert memories, rare finds, collecting strategies, and everything in between — no topic is off limits on SURFACE NOISE - the show that aims to inform, entertain, and even complain. Send us Fan MailFive years ago, I hit publish with a simple goal: make mental health easier to talk about and easier to access. Now, Resilience Development in Action is built specifically for first responder mental health, because police, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers carry stress and trauma most people never see, then get told to just push through it.I'm sharing what's kept this podcast steady for weekly Wednesdays, including the behind-the-scenes support that makes the audio and video work, plus why I keep sponsorships limited to tools and brands I genuinely stand behind. You'll also hear why I don't want mental health care to be something you reach for only at the breaking point. I make the case for wellness visits, a practical “checkup from the neck up” that mirrors how we treat physical health and lowers the barrier to getting support early. We also dig into the work I'm doing with departments through FRTRESS, with a focus on education, familiarity, and referrals that actually fit the culture. And if you're curious about the video side, I point you to Apple Podcasts video and YouTube, plus a fun giveaway tied to what you can see on camera. If you've ever thought “I'm fine” while carrying too much, hit play. Then subscribe, share the show with someone on your shift, and leave a review so more first responders can find trusted mental health resources. The Behind the Badge and Beyond Website is: https://www.behindthebadgeandbeyond.com/My website is: www.steve-bisson.comVideo version of the podcast is available at: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/resilience-development-in-action-first-responder-mental/id1569606639Freed.ai: We'll Do Your SOAP Notes!Freed AI converts conversations into SOAP note.Use code Steve50 for $50 off the 1st month!DeemedFit: First Responder OwnedWe are a first responder owned company looking to get first responders in the best mental shape.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. It's been four years since Linda Jean Stokley and Montana Hobbs released a full album. The two, better known collectively as The Local Honeys, dropped a 45 last summer and have blessed fans with a couple of new singles in the last couple of months. But there has been no official announcement of a new record coming. We think we may have squeaked out a hint or two that one might be as the two joined Frank and Falls for the latest episode of Roots Music Rambler. The interview was a bit of a Morehead State University reunion for the Honeys and Falls, all three of whom are graduates. And Falls tried to not lapse into his native mountain accent as he and Frank talked to the pair about everything from the purpose of music to protest songs and channeling Pink Floyd to the Kentucky music scene. At the end of the day, Linda Jean and Montana are and will forever be leaders in the use of mountain and traditional music influences in a modern Appalachian sound in Americana music. They not only make great folk-rock and country music, but teach and mentor young musicians with their involvement in programs like Cowan's Creek Mountain Music School. The two are currently embarked on a spring tour with Cole Chaney and well worth the time and investment to see them live. Frank and Falls also discuss the Grand Ole Opry's 25th Anniversary Celebration of the film “O Brother Where Art Thou” and share Pickin' the Grinnin' recommendations. Falls pointed to a recent live act he saw in Stripmall Ballads. Frank shared a band her son Anthony was amused by on satellite radio: Buffalo Traffic Jam. Hi everybody, and welcome to our 5th Anniversary celebration! I started this podcast during the pandemic when musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed something creative to do, and someone suggested to me that I should start a podcast. But I had no idea what that was. I had never even listened to one.But the more I looked into it the more I thought why not give it a shot. I had no audience and no guests, but I did have an idea - to encourage people to follow their dream, just as I had followed my youthful music dream later in life.So on March 21, 2021 I aired my first show. My guest was “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America's most famous radio personality, a friend of mine and a true National Treasure. Bruce introduced the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965! And from there I was off to the races. The show started to catch on and grow. It took two years to get to 1 million downloads. Today we're at 4.5 million downloads with listeners on every continent in 200 countries! I've now released over 725 episodes. My guests are all world class creative artists - musicians, actors, authors, directors, photographers, storytellers, even poets. My interviews are conversations, with humor and respect. And I'm pleased to say that some of my guests have become musical collaborators with me as well, which is the icing on the cake.I want to thank you, the audience, for making this show so popular. I look forward to year 6. As I like to say, keep on rockin - and we'll see you in the next episode.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!
