Hey Rainmakers! We had an incredible chat on our podcast today with the brilliant Austin Netzley. He introduced us to this fascinating idea from his book, the “2 Week Vacation Test.” And let us tell you, when we first heard about it, we knew that we had to learn more! Between the three of us, we've experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, and Austin's perspective added a whole new layer of understanding. We were genuinely moved hearing about Austin's journey. Here's a guy, in his prime, running marathons, yet facing severe anxiety attacks due to business pressures. He even had to dial 911 twice! It made us realize the true weight many entrepreneurs carry, often silently. But here's the twist - Austin found his saving grace in something as simple yet profound as systems. It isn't about adding complexity, but about finding simplicity in daily tasks through things like checklists. A point Austin stressed on, which we think is worth its weight in gold, is that before adding anything new to your to-do list, you need to check what you should stop doing. As entrepreneurs, we're often running on overdrive, doing a ton but oftentimes achieving very little. By focusing on what's essential and streamlining your processes, you can free up so much mental and physical space. Now, the burning question: What's the "2 Week Vacation Test?" Imagine jetting off for two weeks with no emails, no calls, and zero business contact. If your business runs, grows, and thrives in your absence, congrats! You've built a solid system. But if the mere thought sends shivers down your spine, it's time to reconsider your business structure. Lastly, Austin talks about the importance of your day's start and end. Having a routine to kickstart your morning can make a massive difference. Austin champions the "done by 10:30" rule, emphasizing two hours of deep, focused work before diving into the usual business chaos. And at day's end? A quick wrap-up routine to reflect, understand what worked, and prep for the next day. So, to all the entrepreneurs out there, consider this: Can your business pass the 2-week vacation test? It's a challenge, but one that promises not just efficiency but genuine peace of mind. If you're intrigued and want to dive deeper into this concept, hit play and listen in as we unpack the 2-week vacation test with Austin! Stay tuned for more of our chats and keep making it rain! Austin, welcome to the show. Steve, I've been looking forward to this moment. I read one of your books a long time ago, and it's really inspiring to ultimately come to this moment where we can both chat about our books and what we're doing, so it's pretty cool. Yes, that's right, let's talk about it. You and I both are in the coaching world and writing books about it, so we have some idea of what's going on, but I'm really curious about your ideas. But let's start with your journey. So describe me to me this journey. I mean, you look fairly young. I'm sure you take good care of yourself. But still, I mean, you're running a firm which just became second time in 5000 list, a company, a coaching firm. So, tell us what led you down the path of launching this business and going it. Absolutely. Well, first of all, I started out as an engineer in the corporate world. And the only thing I knew growing up was the corporate world. So, I had this master plan of how I was going to be the CEO of a large company and how I was going to work up again the corporate ladder. So I was going to get my engineering degree. I was going to get some sales experience and I was very much introverted. So I needed that sales experience to quote unquote, knock the nerd off of me. And then third, I was going to get my MBA and that was going to be my trifecta that was going to take me up. And I was headed down that path. And then I realized, wait a minute, I'm not really jealous of any of the managers that I have 10, 20 years ahead of me. So I started to learn about entrepreneurship and then started my first business. Had some failures but also some successes there. I burnt myself out. So I went and traveled around the world and I knew when I came back and did entrepreneurship after that, I wanted to make a contribution. So after that point in time, all of my businesses, I felt like, were making an impact because I went and worked for a big oil company with my engineering degree, and then I started a day trading company as my first business. Neither of those, I didn't have an impact. So long story short, I've now had five different businesses. I'm on my fifth right now with the company, Go2X, but all of the last four have been some type of contribution element where I feel like I'm making an impact on the world. So long story short, through a series of different businesses, I learned different skill sets and different things that I think can help six and seven figure business owners. And that's what we do now is teach them the systems and strategies that can help them get free from the day to day and scale more predictably and profitably from what I've learned before. Okay, so we're going to get into it in a minute. But first, you mentioned about your desire to make an impact on the world. So what is your big plan? What is your ride that you're doing all these things for? How are you going to make an impact? Yeah, so the whole vision of 2X was to start with coaching to get access to hundreds of businesses to create and refine our methodology. So over the last five years, we've been really refining our methodology to scale small businesses and do so efficiently, productively, and not necessarily reliant on the entrepreneur themselves.

Hey Successful Hairstylists!! Ever wonder WHY you charge what you do? Or if there's a better way? I get so many DMs from Independent Stylists wondering if they're prices are high enough, if they should switch to a different pricing model (session, hourly, a la carte) and so many other q's. So I put together this training based on a fundamental pricing model by Austin Netzley that I customized for our industry. Truthfully, when we don't understand our prices OR, worse, if we feel like we might be ripping people off - we will self sabotage our way out of business. This shows up with NO motivation to promote your services, the guilty feeling when it comes to offering add-ons, retail and more. I want you to have CEO LEVEL confidence in how you're running your business! I know what makes your video business like no other. It's you. Each of us is unique and that's what sets our businesses apart. Today's guest shares how he uses this to connect with his perfect clients and how the formula for success involves a healthy dose of failure. Key Takeaways Establishing habits and processes that lead to good results are just as important as your goals themselves. Saving time will make you more money. Identify and leverage the efficiencies inside your business to make your processes as streamlined as possible. Your personality is what sets you apart. Use it to build relationships with the clients who are perfect for you. About Joe Harris Dallas based Comedy-Director Joe Harris got his start in Post-Production at Reel FX Creative Studios. A desire to tell stories and direct was nurtured in his time there and beyond while he honed his skills for directing. With 15 years in the industry, Joe started directing spots with local creatives and agencies, building a network of relationships. With a strong love for advertising and absurdly wild visual style, he uses his skills to help brands and agencies solve problems and entertain viewers. Joe is currently on the Southern Sky Films roster. Following Your Gut and Learning From Failure Comedy is at the core of Joe's work. He explains how that didn't come the easy way. In fact, Joe credits much of what he knows from the times that he's failed. Joe is the type of guy who follows his gut instincts. This leads to all sorts of opportunities, but also to some mishaps. No matter what happens, there's a lesson to be learned for next time. You just need to be open to learning from everything you do. You Are The Key to Your Own Branding Anyone who spends any time with Joe knows that he's one of a kind. His personality is a central part of his brand. We discuss how when it comes to branding, being yourself is the best way to create, lead your team, and connect with clients. Joe understands the power that comes with embracing your identity in business. By being who he is, quirks and all, Joe taps into his innate confidence. Clients pick up on this and are all the more eager to work with him. There are a million video companies, but there's only one you. That's your strength. Use it! Building Processes to Increase Efficiency Efficiency is also a key part of earning more. Joe talks about what it means to have systems in place that save you time. When you are more efficient with your time, you can actually start earning more without needing to raise your rates. To do this, look at what runs smoothly already in your business while identifying the bottlenecks. Maybe there's something you can outsource to help free up your schedule. Having clear communication with clients from the very start also helps everything run smoothly. Think of all the time you could save! What lessons have you learned from failure? What can you do to free up time in your business? Leave a comment on the episode page! 922 - Scale Faster Than Ever with 2X's Austin Netzley
Are you hustling and grinding nonstop? Are you trying to do everything in your business? There are so many things that we do in our business that are a waste of time. Today's guest is here to tell you how to stop wasting energy on the minutiae of business and start focusing on the parts you love the most. Key Takeaways The first step to implementing systems is to examine your business strategy. You need to be clear on what you're selling and who you're selling it to. Delegating small tasks in your business adds up quickly. This will free up significant time for you to focus on the work that truly matters to you. About Austin Netzley Austin is an author, investor, and business growth advisor. He is the Founder and CEO of 2X, helping 6 and 7-figure entrepreneurs get free from the day-to-day grind and start scaling faster than ever. In less than three years, 2X has helped private clients generate over $211 Million and counting while in the 2X one-on-one coaching programs. Austin has outlined their methodology in his book From 6 to 7 Figures that authority Dan Martell calls “the playbook entrepreneurs NEED.” Free Yourself From Your Business As entrepreneurs, we get into this business to make an impact and have freedom and flexibility as we do it. Yet, too often we get bogged down with the details of running a business. Austin explains why implementing the right systems will free you from this trap. By systemizing and mechanizing all the non-creative aspects of your business, you'll free yourself up to do the work that you actually feel called to do. The first thing to do is get really clear on who you serve. By streamlining your business so that you serve a particular type of client, you'll eliminate many possible complications. You'll then be ready to easily replicate what you do. Mindset and Mission Austin explains how much of this comes down to mindset. You need to be clear on what your mission is. The better you understand this, the better you'll understand how to get there. This will help you realize what you can actually do to move your business forward. It's important not to try to change everything at once. Austin emphasizes the importance of small incremental change. By systematizing one thing at a time, you'll make incremental improvements that will add up. Over a short amount of time, you'll transform your business and your role in it. What small task in your business can you start delegating today? What parts of your business align with your zone of genius? Leave a comment on the episode page! In This Episode: Getting out of the day to day grind [5:15] Creating systems that support your creative side [9:00] What to prioritize as your business grows [16:15] Why it's crucial to start by reframing your mindset around time and its value [22:00] Getting the financial side of your business in order [30:35] The best kind of marketing for you and your business [34:50] Quotes “Systems provide the structure to have all the freedom that we want.” [9:19] “If we're getting stuff off our plate every single day, you're going to be in a whole new reality within a matter of weeks.” [20:51] “Growth begins with fulfillment and don't forget the best leads you can get are the customers you already got.” [35:39] Links: Sign up for the Onward Summit! Revenue Management – The Podcast Timeless Principles To Scale A Business That Hotels Can Use To Rebound 2X founder & CEO Austin Netzley: Highlights from This Episode Lily and Austin explore the following questions and tips The ITA, or Ideal Target Audience The Irresistible Offer Rebounding from COVID “We want to really simplify things, get the business owners free from the weeds, and then start to take the company to the next level.” Welcome to Hospitality Highlights! In this 24th episode of the ThinkUp Podcast, host Lily Mockerman talks with Austin Netzley about proven principles and strategies that help 6 and 7 figure business owners scale. Lily: One of the things that many hoteliers have struggled with over the years has been defining their target market. You're looking to attract group business; you're looking to really provide a great corporate travel experience. You want to be that romantic getaway, and also family friendly. Austin: Most businesses go too broad. We're afraid to go narrow because we think that we're turning business away. But by going specific, we get much more clear on what we need to do from a marketing standpoint. Lily: As someone who has experienced hospitality as a traveler, have you ever seen a great irresistible offer used in travel or hospitality? Austin: Brian Chesky, the founder of Airbnb, wants the Airbnb hosts to think about and write down what a 10- star experience looks like. For an irresistible offer, think about what makes a 10 star experience. Then working backwards from there, detail how to go above and beyond to make the client's experience go through the roof. Lily: You have worked with businesses that have really taken a major hit from COVID. What business tactics have worked best for those businesses to rebound? Austin: Being real with the moment. Know your ITA in more detail. If you know them, then you know what news they're watching or what their concerns are in relation to cleanliness and other things. Then you can take those proper measures and beat them to the punch before they become concerned. Austin's advice for the future Businesses that are planning for the future are going to be the ones that get ahead. We've worked with a lot of people that have gotten hit, most have rebounded really nicely by doing exactly what we've talked about so far, which is updating and refocusing their business model, or doing different marketing initiatives and communicating in a very human manner. The Author Hangout: Book Marketing Tips for Indie & Self-Published Authors
In this episode we were joined by bestselling author Austin Netzley. He shared with us his tips for not only a great book launch, but also how to keep that momentum going after the launch. He also talked about how to get media to write about you and your book. The post Ep 112: “Book Marketing Momentum” first appeared on Book Marketing Tools Blog.
Guest Intro: Austin Netzley is the founder of Epic Book Launch where he set out to solve the problem that authors like to write but they don't like to market themselves. The fact is, many authors don't make a lot of money or get their books out to as many people they'd like and they certainly have dreams of doing that. The average self-published book sells less than 250 copies per year. (I found that stat amazing.) And over half of the self-published authors make under $500, which is again another travesty based on the amount of time they spend. Austin is on a mission to fix that problem and started the Epic Book Launch training and Done-For-You service. Austin is an author and a podcast host.
