Thank You To Our Partners The Institute, AutoFlow, AutoLeap, Shop Dog Marketing, In-Bound:In our episode today - Craig introduces listeners to a concept that has helped to shape his own journey, the concept of being “Supermedium.”This concept is related to fitness goals and how people often do not focus their goals on very specific objectives - which can lead to wasted effort and actually hinder you in many cases. The goal is to be strong enough—or said differently, have the right strength for a specific task. SUPERMEDIUM.There are a few references Craig brings into this conversation - one of which is from the book “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life,” by Arnold Schwarzenegger.Craig quotes a statement that Arnold makes on the importance of coming into strength training with a clear goal - and ties this to coming into communication training with a clear goal as well.(Craig also highly recommends that book by Arnold via audio book.)The link is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1HR5D9S?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cp_ud_dp_KKT0YM7XDFW30C7FNNXM&skipTwisterOG=1&bestFormat=true&newOGT=1Just how does this apply to our communication goals? Craig often cites that “Toastmasters is his gym' and that communication skills can atrophy just like any muscle in the body. Listen in to hear how him discuss some of his own fitness goals and overlays that with what he has seen as he journeys with others on their communication journey too. This episode will have you thinking about what it is you want to accomplish on your communication journey and should be encouraging for those who might feel a bit too self critical if they aren't achieving an ideal they have imagined.Watch Full Video EpisodeJoin Our Virtual Toastmasters Club: https://remarkableresults.biz/toastmastersToday's Word of the Day:UntenableAdjSomething, such as a position, excuse, or situation, that is described as untenable cannot be defended against attack or criticism.Thank You To Our Partners The Institute, AutoFlow, AutoLeap, Shop Dog Marketing, In-Bound:The Institute at WeAreTheInstitute.com. You may be surprised how useful some of his tips are.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay goes back (and forward) in time with the 2002 adaptation of the classic HG Wells story The Time Machine, starring Guy Pierce. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua break down each episode of the Hawkeye series and more.     Enjoy Movies!  Don't stop-motion believin'! In 1933 a 13 year old Ray Harryhausen saw the movie King Kong and it forever changed the way we would experience movies. It inspired him to experiment in techniques of stop motion animation that he would continually improve throughout his entire career.    His impressive resume includes classics like Mysterious Island, Jason and the Argonauts, and of course Clash of the Titans. Many of his movies aren't even remembered for who starred in or directed them, but for Ray's special effects. His patented Dynamation technique of incorporating his stop motion creatures enhanced all these movies in a way that made you feel like you were part of the dream.    Countless creators were inspired by Ray's effects, such as Steven Spielberg, Terry Gilliam, Peter Jackson, Tim Burton, and of course the man who carried the mantle, visual effects legend Phil Tippett. Their movies continued to evolve Ray's techniques including how CGI even works today. We are all indebted to Mr. Harryhausen and are grateful for his work.  Which of Ray Harryhausen's works do you like? Have you ever made a stop motion movie? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Release the Kraken!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Last week we moved on from our series on Perfectionism and began a new journey. I thought I was going to be talking about quotes that I will be using with my varsity boys' basketball team over the course of our season. The quotes will be based on the Core Covenants that our team has come up with that we feel will establish the identity that we are seeking for our team. I told you that I would be telling you this week what our covenants are, and that I would begin with a quote or a few quotes on the first covenant and then continue in that vein throughout the season. However, last week I went back to Dr. Brene Brown and her book "Daring Greatly." I decided to talk about the entire "Man in the Arena" quote from Teddy Roosevelt from which Brene Brown got that title for her book. That's because I will be using that with my team, too. Also, I had not gotten to our Core Covenants yet with my team, so it was the perfect time to talk about "The Man in the Arena."Well, I still haven't started with our Core Covenants. We are actually doin cuts (Yuck!) and picking our teams tonight. Therefore, we won't start our Core Covenants until later this week or early next week. So today, I have a special treat for you from an unlikely source - Arnold Schwarzenegger! He has a new book out that my step-daughter, Maggie, got me. It's called "Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life." I am only a few chapters into it, but it is so good, and it is filled with so many great concepts that I have actually started reading parts of it to my team. I recently got my hands on a fascinating book called "Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life" by Arnold Schwarzenegger. His story is nothing short of incredible, from bodybuilder to Hollywood superstar to California governor. It's hard not to find something to learn from a man who achieved so much. His book, in particular, encourages us to think beyond ourselves and embrace a life of purpose. It's a quick read, but it's packed with insights and stories from Arnold's life. So, it's a solid recommendation.LEAVE A REVIEW if you liked this episode!!
