Originally recorded 20 July, 2025 in Oxford, England, UKOn this very special surprise episode, we're opening up the WHM Vault to release another recording from last year's residency at the Oxford Comedy Festival. For that show, we covered the infamous Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "Sub Rosa," where, yes, Dr. Crusher repeatedly has sex with a ghost (kind of)! We've also got the Enterprise using the transporter to dig up a coffin, a haunted candle, a colony on a planet that modeled itself after Scotland, Picard being bored at a funeral, and so much more! Come hang out in Vegas with us this summer as we do a three-night stand at ST:LV to celebrate 60 years of Star Trek and 10 years of The Nexus! We'll be at the convention Thursday, Friday and Saturday night doing three Nexus shows on Wrath of Kahn, Generations, and First Contact! Best part is, you don't need to have a convention pass to attend, each show is ticketed separately. Click through to snag your tix now!The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Sign up for our Patreon to access an entire library of Nexus episodes, along with countless hours of exclusive content! Be sure to visit the WHM Merch shop over on Dashery and check out all the latest show-related designs you can slap on t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, stickers, whatever! In a perfect world, getting the health care you need wouldn't require fighting for it. But in this week's episode, both of our storytellers discover just how hard they have to push to get the treatment — and validation — they need and deserve.Part 1: Cooper Joslin is determined to get a hysterectomy to finally stop the debilitating symptoms of endometriosis but all the doctors won't seem to let them make decisions about their own body. Part 2: As a PTSD survivor, Adrianne Frost assumes her dissociative episodes are simply part of living with trauma. Cooper Joslin is a web developer, artist, and activist. They made their DC theater debut at Capital Fringe 2022 with their solo performance, Atemporal, earning a "Best of Fringe" designation from DC Theater Arts. Cooper has also performed at the Kennedy Center with Story District and off-broadway at Joe's Pub in New York City with Generation Women. Their visual art has been featured in collections at the DC Commission of Arts & Humanities' I Street Gallery, the Rhizome, DuPont Underground, the DC LGBTQ Center, and As You Are. With a background in journalism, Cooper now uses their expertise to document the modern history of the transgender community through their growing oral history archive, The Trans Guide. Originally from Central Florida, Cooper now resides in Baltimore, with their wife, two cats, puppy, and a cherished queer chosen family. Adrianne Frost is an awarding winning storyteller and performer. Most recently, she performed with Generation Women at Joe's Pub, and has performed in Awkward Teenage Stories, Rejected, Two Truths And A Lie, Just One More Thing, and is a Moth Slam Champion. Johnny Mac covers comedy industry news, focusing first on Nikki Glaser hosting the Time 100 event and questioning whether she bombed, noting the crowd wasn't mic'd well and suggesting a “cool Hollywood” room may have been reluctant to laugh; he plays a trimmed clip of her monologue, including jokes about publicists, the list, Victoria Beckham, and Gayle King/Katy Perry. He also shares awkward clips from Glaser on Kelly Ripa where her short skirt is mentioned and they discuss her Time cover. Deadline's ongoing reporting on Netflix Is a Joke frames the festival as “haves and have-nots,” citing many big names (Shane Gillis, Louis C.K., John Mulaney, Katt Williams, Nate Bargatze, Seinfeld/Leanne Morgan, Jim Gaffigan) with unsold tickets while smaller buzzy comics sell out smaller venues. Mac reviews Kevin Hart's “Funny AF” competition format and discusses “Emperor of Rome syndrome,” then briefly praises Ramy Youssef's special and quotes Ramy and David Cross on crafting sets and not catering to algorithms. Gossip items include a Giants manager attending Dave Chappelle at The Punchline and Chappelle commissioning a beeswax sculpture, plus Patton Oswalt voicing Stephen King's upcoming Talisman-trilogy audiobook.00:23 Nikki Glaser Bombing01:05 Time 100 Monologue03:40 Kelly Ripa Awkwardness05:25 Netflix Is a Joke Sales06:56 Kevin Hart Competition08:47 Ramy Youssef Special10:00 David Cross Approach10:54 Gossip Corner Chappelle12:16 Chappelle Art Find12:40 Patton Oswalt Audiobook13:08 Wrap Up TomorrowBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac-a-daily-briefing-on-comedians-and-the-comedy-industry--4522158/support.Daily Comedy News is the number one comedy news podcast, delivering daily coverage of standup comedy, late night television, comedy specials, tours, and the business of comedy.COMEDY SURVIVOR in the facebook group.Contact John at John@thesharkdeck dot com For Uninterrupted Listening, use the Apple Podcast App and click the banner that says Uninterrupted Listening.  $4.99/month John's Substack about media is free. This is the animal sanctuary mentioned in the February 10 episode.

After climbing the corporate ladder in his family's South Florida car business, Dave Williamson decided he liked making his customers smile, but LOVED making them laugh. Since then, he has excelled in almost every domestic Comedy Festival, making the finals or "Best of The Fest" in the World Series of Comedy, Boston Comedy Festival, San Francisco Comedy Competition, Big Sky Comedy Festival, the SLO Comedy Festival, and several others. Shortly after being named "Best Comedian in Miami" by the Miami New Times, Dave packed up his family in a 25 foot travel trailer. They traveled with him while he performed all over North America, eventually settling in Los Angeles after 18 months of touring. This trip was documented in a series of shorts by Nickelodeon. Dave tours heavily headlining his own shows. As a support act for Bert Kreischer, he has gotten to perform at the historic Greek Theater, The Grand Ol' Opry, and Red Rocks. His second album, "Trying My Hardest" was just released by Stand Up! Records and reached #1 in the iTunes Charts for Comedy. Dave will remind you of that one Dad who holds court over a hot grill with a cold beer every Football Sunday. He is obsessed with BBQ, and hosts his own podcast called "Meat Dave". He also co-hosts a comedy podcast with fellow waterman, comedian, and friend Forrest Shaw.

This week's episode takes a look at the Riyadh Comedy Festival. A whole bunch of comedians got paid a lot of money to perform at this festival, which had some pretty serious limits on what kind of jokes they could tell. Of course, it raised the same old questions about what comedians can and cannot tell jokes about although that is really more about what they should and should not tell jokes about. We offer our opinion on the matter as three comedians who were not invited to appear! We also get to answer five questions from a listener for the first time in quite a while!
