I also talked about the clutter in our minds, comparing it to a hoarder's house, and how stepping into the present moment can clear this mental clutter. Mindfulness, whether through walking, listening, or simply being, can create this much-needed space. Practical tips for creating space include scheduled downtime, digital detoxes, and practicing mindfulness in daily routines. I emphasized the importance of mindful walking, which has significantly impacted my peace and clarity. Journaling can also be a powerful tool to process emotions and past events, helping to put them to rest. I encouraged prioritizing and delegating tasks to avoid feeling overwhelmed and suggested creative outlets like drawing, music, or writing as therapeutic activities. Physical activity and nature time are also essential for mental well-being. Mindful breathing techniques, such as box breathing and 4-7-8 breathing, can help manage stress by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system. Lastly, setting boundaries is crucial to maintaining space in our lives. In conclusion, while a plant-based diet is beneficial, taking care of our mental space can lead to profound life changes. I shared my journey and experiences, hoping to inspire others to find peace and joy. Thank you for listening, and I look forward to hearing how these insights might help you manage stress. [01:10:42] Guest's Personal Website Details. Embracing a Positive Money Mindset Understanding and Managing Emotions Around Money A positive money mindset starts with understanding and managing your emotions about money. Margo Masry, a guest on the podcast, shares how her early experiences shaped her belief that money was hard to earn and often brought tension. She recounts a story involving her father and a desired jacket, illustrating the emotional weight of financial decisions from a young age. This narrative underscores the importance of recognizing and addressing the emotional aspects of money, often rooted in deep-seated childhood beliefs. Focusing on Intentionality in Spending and Investments Intentionality in spending and investments is crucial for a positive money mindset. Margo and the host, Megan, stress the importance of making financial decisions based on clear intentions rather than impulsive or emotional reactions. Margo highlights the need to differentiate between necessities and luxuries, advocating for mindful and purposeful financial choices. She also discusses the importance of investing in things that align with personal and business goals, aiding in long-term financial stability and growth. Recognizing Everything Beyond Necessities as a Luxury During the discussion, a significant point made is that everything beyond basic necessities—such as food, shelter, and clothing—is essentially a luxury. This perspective can dramatically alter how one views spending and saving. By categorizing expenses into necessities and luxuries, individuals can prioritize their spending more effectively, focusing on what truly adds value to their lives. This approach fosters a more grateful and appreciative attitude towards money, viewing luxuries not as entitlements but as gifts to be carefully considered and cherished. Conclusion Embracing a positive money mindset involves a deep understanding of one's emotions surrounding money, intentional decision-making regarding spending and investments, and a clear recognition of luxuries beyond life's basic necessities. This mindset not only aids in effective financial management but also contributes to a more fulfilled and financially stress-free life. Clarity and Organization in Physical and Mental Space: Impact on Financial Decisions and Money Management The podcast episode explores how clarity and organization in both physical and mental spaces can profoundly influence financial decisions and overall money management, through various anecdotes and insights from the hosts and guests. Physical Space and Financial Clarity The importance of maintaining a clean and organized physical space, especially in work environments like offices, is discussed. Margo Masry shares a story about a client overwhelmed by physical clutter, which not only created a physical nuisance but also a mental block, hindering clear financial decisions. Once the clutter was cleared, the client gained mental clarity, positively affecting her financial decision-making. This story emphasizes that a tidy physical space can lead to a more focused and effective approach to handling finances. Mental Space and Financial Decisions Mental clarity is equally crucial for effective financial management. The episode addresses how emotional triggers and past experiences can influence current financial behaviors. By understanding and addressing these mental blocks, individuals can develop a healthier relationship with money, leading to better financial decisions. Organizational Practices for Better Money Management Practical advice includes spending a few minutes each day reviewing bank statements and financial transactions. This habit helps keep track of spending and maintains a clear mental picture of financial health. Regular engagement with financial data allows individuals to avoid surprises and make more informed decisions. Impact of a Clear Environment on Financial Well-being The discussion also highlights how a clear and organized environment contributes to overall financial well-being. When individuals have a designated space for financial planning and are not distracted by disarray, they are more likely to feel in control and confident in their financial decisions. This sense of control and confidence can lead to more strategic and thoughtful financial planning and execution. In conclusion, the podcast episode effectively illustrates that clarity and organization in both physical and mental spaces play a critical role in enhancing financial decision-making and management. By fostering an environment that promotes focus and intentionality, individuals can improve their financial health and navigate their financial journeys with greater success. Listening to Your Intuition and Aligning Business Practices with Personal Strengths and Values In the podcast episode, both Megan and her guest Margo discuss the profound impact of aligning business practices with personal strengths and values, rather than strictly adhering to conventional advice or models. This approach not only fosters a deeper sense of fulfillment but also paves the way for genuine success. Personal Experience and Intuitive Business Practices Margo shares her journey from being a bookkeeper to evolving into a full-service accounting and tax firm owner. Initially, she followed the traditional path expected in her field. However, as she began to listen more to her intuition and integrate her personal strengths and values into her business, she found that her services naturally expanded and resonated more with her clients. This evolution was not just about offering more services but about deeply connecting with the work she was doing, which brought her personal fulfillment and business success. Challenges of Conventional Models Both speakers highlight the limitations of sticking rigidly to conventional business models. Megan talks about the pressure to niche down and focus on one aspect of her diverse interests and skills. However, she found that by embracing all her passions and presenting them authentically, she could attract clients across different areas of her business. This approach contradicts the common advice of focusing narrowly but proves successful for her by integrating her whole self into her business. The Power of Authenticity Margo emphasizes the importance of authenticity in business. She mentions how moving away from a strict accountant persona to embracing a more holistic approach to financial guidance, including mindset and advisory components, not only differentiated her but attracted clients who appreciated this comprehensive approach. This shift was a direct result of listening to her inner voice and aligning her business with her true self, which ultimately led to recognition and awards. Practical Advice Both speakers suggest practical steps for entrepreneurs who wish to integrate their personal values and strengths into their businesses: Self-Reflection: Regularly check in with yourself to understand what truly matters to you and how these values can be integrated into your business practices. Client Interactions: Focus on building relationships based on authenticity and mutual respect, which naturally attracts clients who resonate with your approach. Adaptability: Be open to evolving your business practices as you grow personally and professionally. This adaptability can lead to discovering new opportunities that align more closely with your values. New to Manifestation? Imagine getting all fancied up for a first date. Super excited to be going out with this person. You've been waiting for a while for this evening, and now it is here. You change clothes 4 times. Nothing seems to be good enough. You fix your hair just right. You check yourself in the mirror 20 times. Nothing in my teeth, good. How's my smile? Hair? Make-up? Jewelry? You've been prepping for over 2 hours. Ok, time to go. You meet them at the restaurant. They look amazing. They took the time to get all fixed up too. They really put on their best. Time for this first date. You sit down and the first thing you do is pull out a checklist of all the things you don't want in a relationship. All the red flags. All the reasons to get up and leave. And you start checking them. They are too tall. Too short. They don't smile when I'm talking. They smile too much. On and on this list goes of all the reasons to leave. Is this how your relationship started? Were you already trying to leave before it even started? Or was your checklist a list of all the good things about them? All the reasons to stay? Their eyes are beautiful. They are so attentive to what I'm saying. Their laugh makes me smile. What stood out to you? The reasons to stay or the reasons to leave? Today we are talking about when you wake up one day and realize that you are living out of alignment with yourself, that your system, your body, mind, soul, life are out of whack and you are wondering how did I get here and what do I do now.

“The mental clarity and mental freedom has been my biggest surprise. Coming from a health background I knew I would physically feel better. Of course digestion and sleep would get better but I was surprised at the mental space it opened up. Looking back I was amazed at how much mental space alcohol took up.” Today I chat with Erin Godin, a health coach, who like most of us who enter into our 40s did some serious self reflection asking herself the question. Am I doing the things I need to be doing to be the woman I want to be? There was one area of conflict so she decided to go sober in 2023. New Year. New Erin. Almost half way through her sober journey, she has zero plans to return back to drinking, especially to her old habits of which she ranked ten steps above a social drinker. She shares about the whisper she heard that things could be different and how the foundation of that whisper was living out of her values. We talk about the power of community, whether in your home or online, that is so important when you are doing something that the world around you doesn't understand. And how the power of finding confidence and making a declaration for yourself sets you up for success and gives you the power to move forward. To learn more about Erin and the work she does, give her a follow on Instagram @eringodinfitness. How to create more mental space? Mental fatigue can be physically paralyzing. It feels like you're tired, but you know you slept. It's like you can faceplant on a tiled floor and sleep for days like you are thinking of everything, yet nothing all at once. Mental fatigue can have you feeling like you're stuck yet spinning out of control. So much of our mental fatigue is created by the massive amounts of "invisible labor" that we do all day, every day. What is invisible labor, you ask? It's ruminating on all the things you have to do and carrying that mental load with you daily. Invisible labor is thinking of everything you must do, like "I need to go grocery shopping; what did my son say he needs for school? What about that birthday party, did I get a gift? I should reach out to the mom and see what he likes. Ok, kid 1 has this karate, and kid 2 has dance class at the same time; how do I be in two places at once? The husband said he would make dinner tonight, but what will everyone want to eat? I have to go to the store and get XYZ. If I go here at this time, I can make it back to finish work at this time. Oh, I need to make the doctor's appointments, and I still need to send those emails."The consistent replaying of thoughts such as these is invisible labor and takes a MASSIVE amount of cognitive energy every. single. day. It always leads to mental fatigue, which can look like: Brain fog Unexplained exhaustion Feeling burnt out Feeling overwhelmed Feeling paralyzed Zoning out/disassociating Beating yourself up for not completing tasks even though you're doing all the things Many of my clients come to me feeling this way, wanting to connect more deeply with themselves and their intuition or spirit team but feel that they can't find a second in the day for it! They feel overwhelmed by the already neverending list of to-do's and can't see how they could possibly add one more thing, much less something that is "not productive."Let me tell you a secret I learned a long time ago; meditation is productive because it clears and creates mental space to focus on what needs to come next and allows for creative solutions to FIND YOU! I help my clients identify where their burnout is coming from, and how to do a "brain dump" to get things off of their mental plate and create more mental space. After this, we work through their schedule together to find space for self-care and spiritual development. It can be done, but first we need to learn how to create the mental space to allow us to receive! In today's Spirited Life Podcast Episode, I talk about how to create a "results list" instead of a to-do list and how to create an effective "brain dump" to create more mental space and eliminate mental fatigue and spiritual burnout! One of the most powerful monthly practices that I have is to sit down and really go through what's bogging me down and taking up too much of my mental space. It's the tiny things done consistently that get you closer to your goals. It doesn't always have to be a giant, scary leap. So, what's draining your energy? Do you have to schedule that appointment or send that email that you've been avoiding? I promise that taking stock and moving the needle that tiny bit will give you the clarity and boost that you need to keep going. IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: Giving yourself a fresh start at the beginning of each month by journaling about things that are taking up energetic space How I tune into my body language when I'm feeling stressed or know that I'm putting something off The importance of keeping promises to yourself Building small, consistent habits RESOURCES Sign up for The Spritz newsletter at litepink.com!
