This week on Nintendo Therapy, we're diving into some of the biggest Nintendo and gaming discussions making the rounds. We talk about the possibilities of the Ocarina of Time remake, Donkey Kong's limited-time event, Xenoblade's bright future, and why Final Fantasy Resonance feels like the direction the series should have taken years ago.We also share our thoughts on the fantastic-looking Pokopia DLC, the surprisingly enjoyable Star Fox demo, and our growing impatience as Duskbloods continues to avoid giving us an official release date beyond an open network test announcement. To wrap things up, we shine a spotlight on the Game Boy classic Bionic Commando and discuss why it's still worth remembering today. What do you think about an Ocarina of Time remake? Are you excited for Duskbloods, Pokopia DLC, or the future of Xenoblade? Let us know in the comments! Number 1030It is game showcase insanity, with the last two days alone bringing us over 15 hours of presentations, reveals, updates and more. That crazy schedule has had me glued to my computer covering everything, which meant I had no idea when I could squeeze the latest episode of the GoNintendo Podcast in. It just so happened to be today, and you're getting a completely unhinged solo show from me...and clearly I need some sleep!

True Lies the movie came out in 1994 and was an Arnold Schwarzenegger action comedy. So, it only makes sense that in 1995 there would be a video game based on it for the SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, and Game Gear. But after watching the movie - there isn't that much action. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Pokémon, aka Pocket Monster (Poketto Monsutā). From games and cards to television and movies, Pokémon has defined generations and inspired the entire world. It is more popular today than ever. People steal the cards in major heists, which have gone global, and others use the cards for money laundering. Those of us growing up with this type entrainment, including general anime and manga, were probably told it was stupid and a waste of time and money. But the Japanese beg to differ. These things are an expression of their culture, one that is so influential it has touched the entire world in profound ways. The current Prime Minister quotes Attack on Titan and the government as a whole has decided to help boost these industries, including video games, with 500-billion yen over five years, not because they are failing but due to the fact they are such a key component of the culture — to help spread them while they are already on fire. From storytelling to artwork, and from pushing the boundaries of free speech and creativity to the fantasy and imagination outlet they provide for adults and children. Naturally there are some that despite anime, manga, and video games. They attempt to adulterate them, poison them, and even ban them. Legislation in Texas seeks to ban this part of Japanese culture while various Christian and Jewish groups have over the years argued for the same. Why? Certainly because of religious bigotry, and due to misunderstandings of culture. But could there be more to the story? Perhaps the hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine characters, the archetypical storylines, and the very issue of pushing the boundaries of censorship are highly offensive to a particular agenda. Hentai, for example, sits at the top of most major porn searches naturally and clearly interferes with the artificial propping up of abuse, incest, and LGBTQ content. The same goes for the JAV industry. The pedo argument against anime and manga is popular, but fails to account for key details: the drawings are not human, these things are not just things for kids, the kawaii aesthetic is not understood, fantasy is seen differently, and women make up a signifiant portion of the industry. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on femininity and beauty in Japan whereas ruggedness fills that role in the U.S. Besides, which country has more pedos and more domestic violence? It's not Nippon. Others argue that this kind of entertainment is not productive, despite the Japanese being considered some of those productive people in the world. Meanwhile, America is seen as increasingly lazier. Perhaps the issue is and what these forms of entertainment inspire people to do. Numerous cases exist internationally of people helping others because they were inspired by fictional manga and anime characters. While most of these so-called cartoons can inspire people to do good things, role models in the west often include lowlife degenerates. The One Piece series has even inspired political resistance to tyranny in Asia. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. The console wars of the later '80s and early '90s is the stuff of nostalgia legend. Sega and Nintendo duking it out for video game dominance. While the Genesis/Mega Drive vs the SNES is remembered the most fondly from that era there were other consoles that went head to head as well.... Handheld consoles... But they all had their lunch money stolen by Nintendo still. Womp womp. However, even in losing to Nintendo's Game Boy there is still a lot you can learn and appreciate about the "loser" handhelds of that era. On this episode of Still Loading I am joined by Gen Moonen from the Fun and Games Podcast to talk about the Sega Game Gear. In this episode we dive much deeper than this console's battery life (woof 5 hours on 6 AAs). Gen and I talk about why this system is better than people give it credit for, what it did well and what it (obviously) didn't do well and what there still is to explore on the system. The GameSir app unlocks button remapping, turbo functions, and a keyboard mode that lets you play games without native controller support, making it a versatile option for emulator enthusiasts and casual mobile gamers. We discuss whether the vertical form factor fills a genuine niche, how the hybrid button design balances nostalgia with performance, and whether Bluetooth latency is a concern for fast-paced retro titles—ultimately exploring who this controller is really for and whether it earns a spot in your mobile gaming kit. Number 1024Why is this episode super-sized? I know you'll find it hard to believe, but the vast majority of this podcast is spent talking about Nintendo topics. No, I'm being serious! A particularly juicy convo comes up about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but I won't spoil what it's about. Also, no worries, there's still plenty of random and stupid conversations as well. It wouldn't be the GoNintendo Podcast without them!

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on Majora's Mask. Though it might come off as fairly negative, due to some of the hang-ups we've had while playing, we still love the swing of this game. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Roughly Zoras/Gorons Issues covered: crunching and putting in developer commentary, the tone of dialog, spending another week, getting the notebook, hoping for an alien mask, layering things on the world, maximizing their opportunities, opening up spaces, changing your identity, adding special abilities via wearables, keys that aren't keys, shifting your player mentality to get the non-resetting items, feeling like you wasted time, not playing Zelda "the right way," not knowing what the rewards for side content will be, going against the formula, being yanked around over a scarce resource, wanting you to go in the hole, crutching on Tatl and being in the right spot, the time pressure and proposing a solution, a laost generation of games, changing play style, de-3DS-ifying, investing in fan theories and creating new ideas and works, using suspended/quick saves, hardware and game motivations, quality of life. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Eyes Wide Shut, Metroid (series), Ultima, CalamityNolan, MatPat, BenDROWNED, Inscryption, Daniel Mullins, Mark Garcia, Mario Golf, Golden Sun, Final Fantasy (series), Fire Emblem (series), PSP, Game Boy, SquareSoft, Dwarf Fortress, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers. Pokémon Day brought us the announcement of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves! These two titles will arrive in 2027 and we learn the three starters are Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. We see very little of Pokémon Champions, but we know it arrives this April. Pokopia introduces both a cooking mechanic and a prop hunt mode. TPC also revealed a Game Boy toy that plays 45 songs in an inconvenient way.
