Episode NotesEpisode 49: Gene Simmons 1978 Solo AlbumIt's September, so you know what that means… we are reviewing another '78 solo album. This year we are looking at the Demon himself, Mr. Gene Simmons. How does Gene's album compare to the previous album by Ace? Is the album chuck full of the standard ‘Demon' songs like ‘God of Thunder', ‘Calling Dr. Love', ‘Love ‘Em Leave ‘Em', or ‘Duece'? Or is this album a reflection of who Gene is as a person, musician, and star? Nick, Nikko, and Rob take an in-depth look at the face of KISS, or should we say, the man of a thousand faces. Like all the other solo albums, Gene's album was released on September 18th, 1978.After we look at the album, we will make our KISS list, and ‘The 9' will make an appearance. We will each pick three songs to compile later for a ‘best of' solo album compilation. So, let's ‘Wish Upon a Star' at the ‘Holiday Inn' and pray we don't go ‘Burnin' Up With Fever' with ‘Mr. Make Believe'. Today Arwen Lewis welcomes musician George Adrian. George Adrian is a staple in the LA music scene. He's an Artist, Musician, and Composer. George Adrian accompanied Jerry Cantrell on bass for Jerry Cantrell's Brighten U.S. and European Tour (2022/2023). Originally from Chicago, George was chosen by Gene Simmons (KISS) for House of Lords before being tapped for Aragon (Arista Records). Moving on from Aragon, Adrian recorded an experimental instrumental album with partner Tyler Bates (Marilyn Manson / Film Composer). Most of those recordings made their way to Adam Rifkin's cult classic Psycho Cop 2. This success led to further film opportunities including the feature film “Blue Flame” (Cassian Elwes). During breaks from the road, George formed a new band with a long-time friend and world-class drummer Alex Locascio. Alex suggested Audrey Wiechman for bass and vocals. The trio quickly became aware of their shared tastes and composed a dozen songs over the span of a few months. They are set to release their EP this fall. Finally, George Adrian and Peter Lewis (Moby Grape) will finish a 5-year collaboration that will culminate in a live album (untitled) of all new compositions with the legendary artist. Rounding out that project is Peter Lewis' daughter Arwen Lewis. The multigenerational trio will be recording the EP live this summer in Solvang, CA.

Episode Number 39: RUNAWAY (1984)We're back to our bread and butter with '80s science fiction this week as we cover RUNAWAY (1984). Written and directed by Michael Chrichton (JURASSIC PARK, WESTWORLD) and starring Tom Selleck (MAGNUM PI, THREE MEN AND A BABY), Cynthia Rhodes (DIRTY DANCING, FLASHDANCE, and Gene Simmons (TRICK OR TREAT, EXTRACT). RUNAWAY paints a picture of a near future in which robots are a major part of everyday life but sometimes go haywire (or deadly), requiring Tom Selleck's special police team to right some wrongs. Here's the tagline:IT IS THE FUTURE. Machines are being programmed to turn against us. Someone must stop the madman who started it all.Have you seen this one?Let us know your thoughts at chrisandchristalkmovies@gmail.com Welcome to Chris & Chris Talk Movies. In this podcast, life-long friends Chris Ferry and Chris Huddleston discuss Sci Fi movies (sometimes the best Sci Fi movies, sometimes not), horror movies (occasionally some of the all time best horror movies…often…not), a few of the very best action movies (I think you see where we're going with this), and genre films from their childhood and beyond in this laid-back, rambling, but inviting series!Rated PG for occasional mature language and alcohol consumption.
Robert joins me for an incredible chat about his time in the music industry including auditioning for Asia, Kansas, Genesis and others! Robert also talks about Eddie Van Halen telling him that he wished Rob was the singer in VH in 1978! Of course we have lots of talk about Vinnie Vincent, their time working together in the 80s, their reunion in recent years and so much more. And, yes, we cover Rob's time in Journey as well. What an incredible conversation!!!
Dale Crover joins us. You may remember him from one of his many bands: The Melvins, Altamont, Redd Kross, or maybe The Dale Crover Band, who are releasing a new album. If you're not familiar with Dale's solo music, it's definitely a separate entity from The Melvins. But Dale tells some great stories about Gene Simmons & KISS, meeting Buzz, playing biker sleepover parties as a teen, & Greg Bissonette. He's also done a little acting. He played both young AND old Neil Young in the Harvest Moon video. There's a few great stories about that experience too. A quick disclaimer, though. There was a not unusual buffering issue when we recorded. So occasionally Dale may sound like he's talking a little fast. That's the buffering. Follow Dale @drcrover on social media. Buy his album, Rat a Tat Tat!. Follow us @PerformanceAnx. Buy us coffee at ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety. Please enjoy Dale Crover on Performance Anxiety, won't you?

The Canadian Geeks are thrilled to bring you the very first ever RockerZ Reflection SerieZ episode featuring Gypsy Rose's Michael Ross. For those that might not be aware of Gypsy Rose, the band came out of Sarnia, Ontario Canada. They caught the ear of one Mr. Gene Simmons (KISS) and were quickly signed to Simmons Records/RCA, releasing their debut album "PREY" in 1990. It should be noted that the PREY album was a large topic of conversation on the night that Wallygator and the Meister first met each other. The music conversation that consumed that fateful evening included each of them recalling albums from their respective collections and PREY was one that collectively knocked their dicks in the dirt! The Geeks sit down with founding member and vocalist Michael Ross for an in depth interview as it appears that 2018 will mark a re-birth for the Gypsy Rose camp. A new lineup, new music and a new lease on life! Stories include how Gene Simmons first heard the band, how the European Prey Tour got cancelled and how a close friend of Michael diligently catalogued and took care of every recording Gypsy Rose ever did. Those tapes have been critical in bringing the band back! Also an interesting connection with the band Greta Van Fleet. Great friend and Gypsy Rose SUPERFAN, Mikael Svensson from Sweden calls in to assist with the interview asking some very insightful questions about the formative years of Gypsy Rose. Special thanks to Michael Ross for spending some time with the podcast and especially for letting us share some new Gypsy Rose music. Wallygator's D.I.T.D. Track - Once Around - Crimson Jimson The Meister's D.I.T.D. Track - If Looks Could Kill - Primal Fear

Gene Simmons is the most outrageous member of one of the most outrageous bands of all time: KISS. There's a lot more to KISS than shock. It's the number-one gold-record-earning group ever, at 30, when you include the four solo albums that band members released on the same day in 1978. Fourteen albums went platinum. This is a band that's known for its hits: "I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day" seems like it's a phrase as old as rock itself. The band is known just as much for its look. There's the black and white face paint, the pyrotechnics, and a few details that are signature Gene Simmons. There's the blood-spitting, the axe guitar, and of course the tongue so long it's almost a fifth band member. And guess what: They're still touring. This is Fortt Knox, rich ideas and powerful people. I'm Jon Fortt. I sat down with Gene Simmons at the Studio Hotel in New York, to talk business and marketing. Simmons is a guy who not only managed to launch an iconic brand in his early 20s, he and cofounder Paul Stanley remade it several times along the way with different band members, different looks, and a voracious appetite for merchandising. A disclaimer here: This episode has some explicit lyrics sprinkled in. By Gene, not me. So maybe don't listen with the kids in the car. Up to you. Learn more about your ad choices.
