Get ready to enter the frightening world of the Paranormal Activity series with your favorite horror hosts. In this episode, we dissect the supposed final movie, 'The Ghost Dimension,' along with an analysis of the film's corporate maneuverings, & 3D technology use. We provide a brutally honest review of the film's reception, plot twists, and the unusual combination of high-end 3D technology within a found footage movie. We discuss shifting trends in the film industry, with a focus on the transition of the cinematic experience from traditional theaters to various on-demand video services. The episode delves into the complexities of this transition, questioning whether subscription models devalue movies. We evaluate the intricacies of found footage sequences and explore strategic watching orders, the significance of key characters, and parallels in the series. From the dynamics of seemingly ordinary families to thrilling confrontations with demons, we leave no stone unturned. The impact of potential timeline re-evaluations, role of witches, and transformations of central characters are all scrutinized.

What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss? Well... we called it (it being that the Ghost Dimension would be awesome) and uh, we lost. In this episode we talk about the (intended) finale of the Paranormal Activity franchise. In this one they go all out on a new gimmick... a camera that can record ghosts! And you know what that means: a lot of goopy CGI. We also discuss the Affleck brothers, the one true movie star god king psycho Tom Cruise torturing James Corden, and our good friend Lars von Trier. Alex also pitches his own found footage movie, a film we're confident would be better than 85% of the PA franchise.

It's another scary one for ya! This time around, Stephanie got to pick the movie and decided to finally have us watch the finale of the Paranormal Activity franchise, THE GHOST DIMENSION. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) dir. Gregory Plotkin "Using a special camera that can see spirits, a family must protect their daughter from an evil entity with a sinister plan."
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is available to stream on Amazon and is probably the weakest movie in the Paranormal Activity franchise. This is a Christmas horror movie as the whole thing involves a house with a Christmas tree in it. Let’s face it, that’s as close to Christmas horror as you should want to get. It does do that satisfying thing that all the Paranormal Activities do which is tie back into the others nicely. The demon from the Paranormals is back in this movie, where he focuses on an entirely new family who bought a house that was built on the same site as the house from the third movie. The house from the third movie burned down, and this is what’s there now. This family has a child who becomes the focus of the demon Toby. Watch Paranormal Activity: The Ghost DimensionParanormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Full MovieClick here to Watch Ghost Dimension was released in 2015, and it was the scariest thing of all...a 3D movie. They took a good premise and fucked it out, pretty hard. My Rating 5/10 Quick Summary of Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension Ghost Dimension stars a family of three: the dad Ryan (Chris J. Murray), mom Emily (Brit Shaw), five-year-old daughter Leila (Ivy George). It starts light and ends heavy, like most Paranormal Activities. The family who lives in this palatial house is being visited by a super sexy family friend, Skylar, who parades her jubblies around like everyone’s business. Skylar is played by the stunning Olivia Taylor Dudley. Check Out Our Review Of A Truly Scary Movie, Terrified! https://www.horrormovietalk.com/2019/03/20/terrified-aterrados-movie-review/ Mike, Ryan’s brother who is fresh out of a long-term relationship, is also visiting the family during Christmas. Dan Gill plays Mike. Ryan and his brother, Mike find a box outside while putting up Christmas lights. The box contains a bunch of VHS tapes and a souped-up video recorder that would make Doc from Back to the Future jealous. The camera allows the user to view the Ghost Dimension. These tapes reveal a good portion of footage from the ’80s where the original sisters Katie and Kristi were used by the cult present in the third and fourth movie to foretell the future and communicate with Toby. The Problems With Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension One of the many problems with this movie is that it focuses too much on boring 3D visual effects. There is a soupy 3D fog that the viewing audience is constantly forced into by whoever is piloting the ultra-camcorder. It’s supposed to be spooky but ends up being boring. There are quite a few visual effects in this movie that are cool to look at, but not as effective as a real person standing over their significant other for three hours or more while they sleep at night. There is some goop that shoots from floor to ceiling, and some demon figures that zoom around so fast you can’t make out more than a blur of movement. Overall these effects don’t do a lot for Ghost Dimension. Another issue that Ghost Dimension suffers from is showing the spook. The reason the Paranormal Activity series work is partially because you don’t get to see the spook, you just get the aching feeling that it’s there. The Ghost Dimension replaces the effective nothing, with a shitty something, and ruins the whole thing that made the series work in the first place. Check Out Our Review Of Summer Of 84 https://www.horrormovietalk.
Key Links Greg Plotkin's Twitter Profile Editor, director, and Blumhouse veteran, Gregory Plotkin, has had a multifaceted film career. Having edited most of the films in the Paranormal Activity franchise, even directing The Ghost Dimension, Greg went on to edit Happy Death Day and Get Out. His latest directorial horror entry is Hell Fest – a horror theme park, slasher extravaganza, staring the Candyman himself, Tony Todd! We sat down with Greg to discuss Hell Fest and his career path to directing. As always, here are Gregory Plotkin's 3 keys for aspiring horror filmmakers: Be a PA. Greg's experience as a PA (Production Assistant) was so educational, he claims he would go back to doing it if he could find the time. Being a PA gave him a very thorough understanding of what everyone on a film crew does which enabled him to confidently navigate every set he was on and effectively collaborate and communicate. Say yes to everything. When Greg edited Paranormal Activity 2 for Blumhouse, his friends frowned on the project, claiming that the budget was too low to be taken seriously. He ignored them and today cites the opportunity as one of the greatest gifts of his entire career since it paved the way for larger projects and ultimately directing. Greg was given 16 different endings to cut for Paranormal Activity 2, but he cut 17 (the 17th being his own idea). Guess which one was chosen. As editor, Greg demonstrated his reliability, talent, and inventiveness, all qualities that producers seek in directors. He then went on to direct Paranormal Activity 6 and edit huge movies like Happy Death Day and Get Out. Find strategic opportunities to up your production value. When Greg was filming Hell Fest, his favorite haunted attraction, Netherworld was switching locations and put their entire setup in storage. Greg struck a deal with them to use their props, mazes, and sets for Hell Fest. This let him inexpensively fill his movie with elaborate and authentic sets, without having to build them from scratch. Always be on the lookout for inexpensive opportunities to enhance the scale and production value of your projects. It's episode 150... and I've heard of spirit photography before, but I've never actually seen it in person... The world's spookiest franchise has finally come to an end, as we dig into Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015). The movie tells the story of the Fleege family, as they are beset by ghostly-goings-on. Naturally, the haunting is tied directly to everything that has happened in the previous movies, but this time we get to actually see what's causing the Paranormal Activity! We discuss the highs, and lows (and lowers) of the franchise; we talk about due diligence in property purchasing; and the fine art of teaching your children about stranger danger - particularly when the stranger is an eight-foot-tall oil slick. Whatever happens, one thing's for sure: Next time I'm just gonna stay at Mom's! Another classic film solved by the best movie podcast in the world. Next week, Netflix's 2018 release Cargo. Well, it finally happened. Mortality caught up with Ben and Zane and they were sucked into the Ghost Dimension (tm). Who knew eating that many raw eggs could be dangerous? Thankfully a slightly-angsty yet highly uninteresting ghost, Inviso-Bill, happened to point them in the right direction to get home. He seemed to be in some weird undead-plane feud with local vampire Vlad Plasmius. The Cartoncasters wisely decided to head back to their mortal coil, despite Vlad looking really, really cool.

For our latest Lunch Hour Review Mindy suffered through The Last Exorcism Part II (2013) and for some reason the newest installment in the Paranormal Activity series, The Ghost Dimension, but turned it around with her dive into the Glory Daze (2016), a documentary about Michael Alig and the NYC party monsters. Darren thoroughly enjoyed Oz Perkins's atmospheric poem of a film, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016).

This week's Movie Date podcast includes a very special radio play acted out by Rafer, Kristen, Sean Rameswaram (of the late, great "Sideshow" podcast), and Katie Bishop (of "Death, Sex & Money"). It's all in honor of the new film "Jem and the Holograms." Rafer and Kristen also review this week's two spooky Halloween offerings, as well as the film that Rafer calls "the worst movie of the year." Rest assured, they also review "one of the 100 greatest movies ever made," according to Kristen. Guess which is which: "The Last Witch Hunter," "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension," "Rock the Kasbah," and "Room."

It's been a bad day, please don't take a picture. Please, it's my last picture. It's the only remaining picture I have of my dead wife. Please, man who is repossessing my home because I am depressed and out of work, do not take this picture of my dead wife. It is worth nothing to you. What's that? Did this unassuming podcast description just unlock a cool and original new way of interpreting the lyrics to the song 'Bad Day' by REM? Yeah it did, you better believe it booyyyy. This episode has Joe, Steve and Gav in it. Joe does a ouija board, Steve investigates alternate timelines and Gav badmouths a fish. Have fun.
Welcome to the first ever Octoberama, presented by the Grave Plot Podcast. What is Octoberama, you may be asking? It's a new episode every week in October. With special minisodes interspersed between full episodes, each week having a special theme. Today's theme is vampires. In celebration of the fanged creatures, we review Stake Land and the original Fright Night from 1985. We discuss vampire lore and how it has changed throughout the years. We even dive a little bit into the Fright Night remake. Before we get to that, though, we must attend to Horror Business. We start out with a couple of stories about remakes, including the Americanization of the South Korean revenge flick I Saw The Devil as well as the remake of the 90s teen scream slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. In the "TV is the new remake" portion of our show, we discuss the possibility of Saw coming to the small screen. We then go on to discuss the new name for Paranormal Activity 5, which is The Ghost Dimension, for some reason. We go into the plot of the movie as well as the new due date, which is the old due date for Scouts vs. Zombies, which took it from Friday the 13th. It's a whole game of musical release dates. Speaking of release dates, we tell you about a pair of movies that have been completely pulled from release. We then discuss the upcoming sequel to the ORIGINAL I Spit On Your Grave from 1978. We then give you some more updates on both the next Friday the 13th movie, as well as the television show of the same name. Speaking of television, the Syfy network has a new movie coming out in the same vein as Sharknado. Finally, we introduce you to the newest members of GWAR. So enjoy the week of the vampire and the kickoff to Octoberama, the biggest month in Grave Plot Podcast history!
