It's Grammy week in Los Angeles, and despite the wildfires and cancellations, the show will go on. Beyoncé and Taylor Swift will be attending, but not necessarily performing. Beyoncé leads all the nominees for the 66th Grammy Awards with 11 nominations, and Swift has six, including nods for album, record, and song of the year. All eyes will be on Beyoncé in those categories. This year's Grammy telecast carries a renewed sense of purpose, raising funds to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. The show will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 2nd, at 8 p.m. Eastern and will also be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount Plus. The broadcast will also honor the bravery and dedication of all the first responders who have risked their lives to save others during these devastating fires. Her main role is to curate and showcase inspiring, creative, and forward-thinking content at SXSW by working with top industry professionals from around the globe. At 18 years old, Alany began working in the music industry. She started at Bass Concert Hall on UT Austin's campus and climbed her way up into gaining invaluable experience working or interning at companies such as Warner Music Group, Live Nation, Pulse Music Group, Orienteer, and her previous role, which was at the Recording Academy working as the Texas Chapter GRAMMY U Representative. During her time at the GRAMMYs, Alany worked on both local and national projects, events, and initiatives, including GRAMMY Week festivities, launching the GU Instagram, GU Social Media lounge at SXSW, Texas Chapter Advocacy Day, GRAMMY Career Day, Up Close and Personal events with artists Leon Bridges and Rico Nasty, GRAMMY U's national conference, and was a contributing writer for GRAMMY.com. Now in her role at SXSW, she continues to use her experiences in music/entertainment to curate unforgettable and valuable moments that have long lasting impact. We will wrap up the episode talking about her personal and professional goals and what advice she gives to aspiring industry professionals and also artists.

It's Grammy week here in Los Angeles, and two-time nominated comedian, actor, author, podcast host, and former "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah returns to host the 2024 Grammys. He always does the best job at this. It will be his fourth time as host of music's biggest night. And by the way, he's also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Comedy Album category for his 2020 Netflix comedy special "I Wish You Would." Now, in the meantime, there is so much stuff going on in town. They are back with all of the great stuff that goes on during this week. But I gotta tell you, the hottest story is about two of music's biggest rap stars. I'm not sure when the feud began between Megan Thee and Nicki Minaj but honey, it heated up over the weekend as the war of words started hitting the internet. Okay, so you probably know by now that on Friday, Meg released her latest single, "Hiss." It's a fierce track criticizing her haters, which fans have speculated included a line targeting Minaj. Well, Nicki Minaj fired back with an all-new diss track. The rap superstar dropped the one-off single, "Big Foot," which she revealed in multiple posts across social media, is directly aimed at Megan Thee Stallion, and is a follow-up to the song she released on Friday. Now, Meg mentioned Megan's Law -- the policy that requires sex offenders to register with the state -- and you know, Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, is a level two sex offender in New York. He actually served four years in prison after being convicted of an attempted rape. Minaj's brother is also incarcerated for raping an 11-year-old girl. Horrible story. But Nicki said, hey, that's her family. She hit back with "Bigfoot" making accusations about Megan Thee Stallion, referring to her mother's death and how she was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in 2020. Oh, good Lord. There is just so much drama. It goes on and on and on. Lots of name-calling. But I'm just wondering, what happened to women in the business trying to get together and support each other? Or is this just for publicity? Whoo! Whatever. Like I said, it has heated up the internet just in time for the Grammys. Oh, and by the way, we will be there backstage and on the red carpet. Jonathan Mannion is widely known for his work in celebrity portrait photography. His work can be characterized by his unique ability to orchestrate a moment that exposes the subject’s inner essence. He consistently communicates their stories with authenticity, respect and enduring relevance. In Mannion’s words, “My goal is to create the definitive portrait of that person at that moment, every time I shoot.”Mannion was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1970 and graduated from Kenyon College. In 1993, he turned a serendipitous meeting with iconic photographer Richard Avedon into a full-time position that would profoundly shape his craft and career.Mannion first established himself as a cultural force through his work with the recording industry, documenting over twenty years of hip-hop music. Early in his career, when many in mainstream media were dismissing rap music as a passing fad, Mannion was hustling to create the cover art for Jay-Z’s debut LP, Reasonable Doubt. It was the first of many iconic album covers with prominent MC’s that quickly crowned Mannion as hip-hop’s premiere visual biographer. His reputation spread farther through a founding partnership with FADER Magazine, a collaboration that produced dozen of memorable cover images for the publication. He established and elevated a new aesthetic within the genre. The result, in the words of DJ Quik, is that “the world sees hip-hop through [his] eyes.”Over the course of two decades, Mannion has become the go-to creative collaborator for brands and celebrities alike. His portfolio includes many of the most fascinating figures in pop culture, from LeBron James to Kanye West, while his recent brand work includes a global multi-year print ad campaign for Bushmills. Mannion has produced integrated content for iconic brands such as Nike and Hennessey, and was commissioned by venerable photo brand Leica to capture the culture of New Orleans through his lens.
