--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/no-bico-do-corvo/message

⚠️TRIGGERWARNUNG: THEMA u.a. Cold-Open-Frage: "Was war unsere prägende Teen-Soap?"

Just over four years ago, I had the very great fortune to interview an outstanding debut novelist. I was relatively new to the world of podcasting then, still finding my way and, consequently, feeling like I'd won the lottery when I was handed the opportunity to speak with this brilliant author. Listeners, I know you will feel my joy and nerves in equal measures when I tell you that author was Holly Ringland. The much-celebrated creator of the world-wide phenomenon that was and still is 'The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart' published by HarperCollins. Once I had recovered from my terror, speaking to Holly who was in England at the time, became a conversation I would never forget. It was overwhelming to speak with this incredible woman who has become an inspirational figure for women and writers around the globe. And to my utter amazement, I got to do it all again. This time in honour of Holly's second novel, 'The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding'. I was honoured to welcome Holly back to the podcast late last year.

And Caro shares a great recipe for Cumin-Spiced Cauliflower wth Fried Lentils and Spinach Yoghurt.  Condescending reporting of the Queen’s birthday is making both Caro and Corrie grumpy and in ‘6 Quick Questions’ it’s everything from Autumn cooking, Barnaby Joyce and a little fashion - plus Caro reveals which senior Hollywood heart throb she’d rather go on a date with! Author Richard Flanagan is the ‘Crush of the Week’ and Corrie’s GLT is one for Scrabble tragic.  Email us - feedback@dontshootpod.com.au  Drop by our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dontshootpod/ Follow the show on Twitter - @dontshootpod and check out 'Caro and Corrie' on Instagram.

Holly Ringland in conversation with Ashley Hay (journalist and award-winning author of many works of fiction and non-fiction including 'The Body In The Clouds', 'The Railwayman's Wife' and 'A Hundred Small Lessons') at the launch of 'The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart' The book is available here: http://avidreader.com.au/products/the-lost-flowers-of-alice-hart Flowers, fire and fairy tales are the elements that will forever shape nine-year-old Alice Hart's life, in this remarkable debut by Holly Ringland.Agnes loves flowers and teaches her daughter their hidden meanings, but when Agnes is killed in a fire, Alice is sent to live with her paternal grandmother, who she's never met before. There, Alice realises that her grandmother -- whose farm provides a refuge to women who, like Alice, are lost or broken -- also speaks the language of flowers, and Alice soon begins to do the same, using flowers to say those things that are otherwise too hard to speak. There are some things, however, that even flowers cannot say. As Alice grows older and flees her grandmother's home after discovering the truth about her past, she has to learn a new language -- the language of love, and loss -- for, if she's to find her place in the world, she must first start listening to her heart . . .
