I NEVER thought I wanted to be a teacher! You see, I got my dream job when I was 34, with Pilobolus! I was on tour and it was an amazing experience, but... It honestly sucked. I was the oldest one there. It was hard on my body. I didn't really want to do it. I came to the realization that I didn't want to train in that way anymore. And that led to a whole transition of breaking up with this idea of being an active dancer. Long story short, I leaned into education and I fell in love with it. My students lit me up and my soul feels connected on a bigger level! In episode # 149 of the Dance Boss Podcast, I share an interview I did for the Background Dancer Podcast with Jason Yap. Jason and I dive into my transition from student to dancer to entrepreneur, the hardships I had to face to start my online dance business, and the many mindset shifts I had to make to grow my business. SHOW NOTES: On this show….we are flipping the script and answering the call. Why You? Why Not You? Now, I didn't come to this revelation on my own but I did adopt it as a way to overcome that woe-is-me kind of feeling. What if the things you're struggling with are not the raw deal delivered by the universe that you think they are. What if these things happening to you are actually happening FOR you. No pain, no change. Sometimes we need to feel discomfort to seek comfort. What's the lesson here? Shoot if we knew that it would ruin all the fun! Your journey is about discovery, challenges, and triumphs in no particular order and sometimes happening at random. So...why you? How often do you ask yourself that question? It's usually accompanied by an eye roll and an exasperated release of breath. UGH, WHY Me?  You might also echo that statement with things like….” figures, not again, not today, why is this always happening to me? It can feel like life is out to get you or that terrible things are hovering over you just waiting to drop. Maybe you feel like you have a target on your back or a sign on your forehead but whatever it is….bad things happen to you.  And to make matters worse, they aren't isolated incidents that happen once in a while. It's blow after blow after blow! When are you going to catch a break? This feeling is perpetual and once you're on auto-repeat, it's hard to shut it off. You start over-generalizing with overarching ideas like “ I ALWAYS, or I NEVER”. You shoot new opportunities down before you ever even try, accepting that nothing EVER works out for you so why bother. Jordan Brown gives us 4 BIG Reasons Why You're Feeling Stuck in Life (With Solutions) found on the menatalhealthupdate.com Feeling Stuck Reason 1: You Think There's No Hope for Any Change Feeling Stuck Reason 2: You're Stuck in a Dead-End Job Feeling Stuck Reason 3: You Don't Like Where You Live Feeling Stuck Reason 4: Your Relationships Are Draining You Someone once told me, “the day starts and ends with you”. I love these little nuggets of inspiration that burrow deep in your mind but are easy to recall to make sense of the world or to deliver just the right amount of momentum and focus.  You are in charge of how you react to challenging situations, the people involved, the innocent bystander, and even the thoughts in your head. You can see any situation as a good thing or a bad thing and you don't even have to cock your head funny or close one eye. You have the power to view your life through different lenses.  When you wake in the morning, you are in charge of the first thought that enters your brain. Now, sometimes, circumstances make it very difficult to wake up to rainbows in the sky and bluebirds singing on your windowsill - but you can choose to use your circumstances as motivators instead of limiters. Your choice.  Robert Taibbi shares his ideas on a common feeling; When You Feel You Don't Deserve to Be Happy Well, here are some of the common sources of  self-sabotage, see if you identify with any: Past sin(s) Survivor's guilt Trauma Parental worry Feeling guilty if you're happy Deserving happiness   Make amends Realize you did the best you could do at the time Resolve your trauma Directly work on your self-criticism Directly treat your anxiety and/or depression Carry your life's lessons forward Before you can really identify the good AND bad in your life, you need a better vantage point. Why do you think it's important to “find gratitude”? You know that is a huge buzz phrase but what does it really mean and why is there such a push to do it?  With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. ... Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. It helps climb you out of the darker regions in your mind to your frontal cortex where you can get a better vantage point. There you find patience, reason, and self-control.  Finding gratitude helps you put life into perspective. It delivers a healthy balance in what can seem like an overwhelming sea of negativity. With this new perspective, you can start to see the lessons and gifts instead of just the pain and misery.  enée Fishman enlightens us with 7 Ways That Life is Happening FOR You, Not TO You (1) To Teach You a Lesson (2) To Serve Your Awakening (3) To Catalyze Your Growth (4) To Deepen Your Empathy  (5) To Test You (6) To Offer You Proof (7) To Help You Cultivate Trust KEY HIGHLIGHTS -  Feeling stuck starts with your thoughts.  Realize that you are the one who created these thoughts, and you can be the one to create new thoughts. Take a step back. Assess your current relationships. If they are not bringing you joy, it's time to do something about it. Regain your humanity by realizing just how much possibility you have, then seize the moment and do something about it. You are in charge of how you react to challenging situations, the people involved, the innocent bystander, and even the thoughts in your head. When your unhappiness has become your new normal, your view of yourself and what you present to others can feel unsettling and confusing If there is some regret, guilt, or wound that is haunting you and undermining your happiness, you want to find a way to put it to rest, to get some closure.  Happiness is a byproduct of a life fully lived, a life based on self-care and forgiveness that can come with new intentions, deliberate action, support. A life hardship or challenge may arise to give you the tools you need to serve others more deeply or at a higher level. It can help us foster greater empathy and compassion for others.  Sometimes the challenges we face are simply an opportunity to cultivate deeper trust that things will work out. CHALLENGE: to answer the call. Instead of feeling like life is delivering another blow find the opportunity that stands on the other side of your thinking. Use your power and this new perspective to push forward and accept the challenge.    I Know YOU Can Do It!

For the Men!! Oh come on, it is for the women too! Body part warning: I call a male body part a name in this podcast - truly I mean no harm and no shame and no hate. It is only to point out that we can question what we are doing and break down the idea that PIV sex is the default and gold standard. All my love to ALL BODIES and ALL BODY PARTS. Suffering from a dry spell with your partner? Do you feel like your sex life has tanked? In this podcast, I collaborate with Dr. Rena Malik, a fellow urologist, to share with you 7 tips to help increase your female partner's pleasure! Dr. Kelly Casperson's Backstory Tip #1 Schedule time for Sex - Desire isn't even necessary - don't take this the wrong way - I NEVER mean do it when you don't want to do it - rather that for a lot of women, desire arises while doing. And some people don't believe in scheduling as it makes it a "chore" - think of it more as prioritizing your intimate life with yourself and your partner. Like you will forget to go on a date unless it is scheduled because life gets too busy - kind of thing. Tip #2 Know your Female Anatomy - What exactly is the G-Spot? Focus on the Outside Structures Tip #3 Prioritize her, it's not all about you Tip #4 Go Slow Tip #5 Use Lubricants Tip #6 Meet in the middle based on your desires Tip #7 Communication is key Dr. Malik hosts a popular YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/RenaMalikMD/videos Find her her also at www.instagram.com/renamalikmd and https://renamalikmd.com/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kj-casperson/message

Intro Background (1:40) Rogue created by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden in Avengers Annual #10 (August 1981) Born Anna Marie in Mississippi, her parents disappeared when she was young, and she was raised by her strict aunt - she rebelled as a teen, earning the nickname Rogue After kissing a boy named Cody, her latent mutant abilities manifested, sending Cody into a coma - she discovered any skin-to-skin contact with a person would cause her to absorb their life force, and in some cases their memories - she covered herself up to avoid touching anyone ever again Mystique found Rogue and began mentoring her, eventually bringing her into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants - she was sent to attack Carol Danvers - during the fight, prolonged contact caused Rogue to permanently absorb Carol's powers, and gave Carol amnesia - the Danvers identity would remain with Rogue for many years, eventually causing Rogue to seek out Professor Xavier for assistance She eventually joined the X-Men, slowly earning their trust and becoming a valuable teammate, even as Danvers continued to control her in periods of stress or unconsciousness - after losing her powers in a battle with Master Mold, she discovered the Danvers identity was also gone As her powers returned, she also began an on-again/off-again relationship with Gambit, but her lack of physical intimacy and his dishonesty caused friction for a long time - after a battle with Destiny robbed them both of their powers, they left the X-Men and moved in together to explore their relationship After another battle with Mystique where her foster mother tried to kill her, she absorbed Mystique's powers and left her for dead - went to the Australian outback to figure out how to control her powers - with the help of Xavier, she was able to control her absorption for the first time in her life Eventually started a relationship with Magneto, although it was largely long-distance, as they both had other commitments Originally stayed neutral during AvX, but joined the staff at the Xavier Institute after a fight broke out on campus and She-Hulk inadvertently injured some children Turned down a marriage proposal from Magneto, and ended their relationship Joined the Avengers Unity Division as a mutant representative, eventually becoming field leader Restarted her relationship with Gambit, and after Kitty Pryde broke off her engagement to Colossus at the altar, Gambit proposed to Rogue on the spot, and they were married instead - got transported to the Mojoverse for their honeymoon, since Mojo wanted a famous couple for his new show Issues (6:15) Authoritarian upbringing caused her to rebel Inability to touch anyone caused problems in her relationships, both romantic and platonic (18:26) Broken relationship with Mystique, where they alternate between trying to kill each other and trying to work together (27:06) Break (34:36) Plugs for BetterHelp, Grief Burrito, and Chris Claremont Treatment (36:11) In-universe - Use other mutants to help transmute the energy flow as a result of contact and help her move past that Out of universe - (40:06) Skit (49:22) Hello Rogue, I'm Dr. Issues. - Hey there, sugah. So, what can I do for you? -I don't know, what can you do? *sarcasm* Hardee har har. I have the ability to listen to what you have to say, synthesize that dialogue in a way that may have some benefit to you and your relationships, while monitoring for any signs of a formal diagnosis that needs more focused treatment. -Shoot, I thought you were gonna get all flustered like most guys do when someone like me talks coy with them. I got over that a long time ago. -Must be nice Meh. -*pause* Well, I guess that's my way of saying I'm stuck. I either push people away too quickly, or I dive in and get myself into stuff I can't just walk out of. Why not? -That's a really easy one. Do you know about my powers? I do my homework, sure. -Well, imagine if your first chance at a physical connection, you destroy their life...I mean, REALLY destroy it. You don't get over that. There's no amount of talking that can fix that. *pause* I'm terribly sorry. From the tone in your voice I can tell it wasn't intentional. -But it doesn't stop there. I was led to do some horrible things to people and I didn't know the consequences. That's the type of thing that some people can't ever live with themselves over. Do you get what I'm saying? Hmm...has it ever gotten to that point for you, where life wasn't worth it anymore? -No! Well, not like that, but to disappear, to not hurt anybody, that's the type of thing I wish for sometimes.  This next question is meant to get to something deep here, so please don't think I'm trying to lead you...why haven't you disappeared? -That's like trying to hide the Juggernaut in a kiddie pool. That dog won't hunt. Besides, every time I did walk away, my past came back to bite me. So I gave up on tryna run. So anonymity doesn't work, but your powers are a huge factor in any basic intimacy...wow, I have to say, I'm impressed you've continued to persevere as well as you have. -Thank you...not many people see it that way besides you. I'm glad to hear that there's more than just me. -Are you always trying to see the glass half full? I try to see the glass with whatever amount is inside, the contents, the condition of the glass, the -I get the point. No stone unturned. Does that mean you want to know who sees the good in me? -Of course! -Let's start with Remy number one. That man...there's something about that man, it's hard to describe. He just...lights me up inside.  Aww, that's sweet! -Hold on, ah don't want it to sound all peaches and cream. Ah mean, when it's good, it's finer than frog hair. But he's got a real stubborn streak. When he doesn't get his way, he doubles down on how he feels. Shucks, I think sometimes he argues with me just to watch me burn up! Maybe; I don't want to speculate on him since I don't' know him as well as you do. But you're the one who says he makes you feel that way. That type of bond doesn't happen overnight. -Damn right it doesn't! How many people get told they have to wait for the right time, and that time might be never? Well, he was there for all of it. Even when I went my own way, he came right back to me no matter what.  As with most relationships, that sounds like a two-way street. However you got to the point that you are on a similar wavelength, I'm genuinely happy for you. To be honest, if you're doing okay with that aspect of things, maybe there's another part of your life that is challenging you. -Everything.  I see that's your style of response, but can we please drill down a bit? -Can we not and say we did? Rogue, I'm really not a hardass. You don't have to be scared of a psychiatrist. -*laughs* Oh sugah, I'm not scared of you. I'm scared of what I'll say to you. You probably lock up half the people you see just for speaking their mind. I only look out for the safety of my patients and the rest of society. Having emotions is not a risk. It's what you do with those emotions that counts. As long as you are not a danger to yourself or others, this is completely confidential. And if it's in the past, then I would never put you through “double jeopardy.” -So if I told you that my second mama wanted to kill me after I had made up with the women she had me nearly kill and take her life, you're not gonna arrest me? *dramatic gulp* Well, I didn't quite expect that, but...no. My main concern is how that -*sarcasm* How did it make me feel? HOW DO YOU THINK?  A lot of people have that reaction...which is why I was going to ask HOW DID THAT AFFECT THE PEOPLE INVOLVED. -*pause* Son of a gun, nobody really asks that. I suppose Carol was really pissed off...wait...I KNOW she was pissed off ***that bitch tried to control me! Do you know what it's like to have your own head telling you all sorts of history that you shouldn't know or even came close to giving a shit about?*** and Mystique was mean, but she always said it was because she cared. I think that's true, she really cared about me in her own sorta way. She should really talk to you, if you'll have her. I'm always an open mind and ear for anyone within reason -The “reason” part might be a problem.  So what's your goal with those relationships? -I'm not a goals kinda gal.Where the wind blows, I'll be there, good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise. Unless I don't wanna go, that is. Aaaaaand hence the name. There's nothing wrong with riding the tide and going where nature follows, and there's nothing inherently wrong with bucking a trend, either. But the balance of those two can get out of whack. It's obvious to me that you have the ability to go wherever you please, but so many times, you've been the center of attention for others because of your talent. Why not take the impulsive energy and combine it with a modest bit of forethought and live the more comfortable, less stressful life that you deserve? - Believe it or not, Doc, I actually did have some good come out of all of that we were just talking about. Carol doesn't hate me...not anymore. And when things are good with Mystique, we work well together. I'm not as dumb as you think I am just because my nature is to fight with whatever everybody says. *insulted* I NEVER thought that -Ah, there's the flustered part that I always look for when I meet someone new. *pause* Touche. Now that you've made it clear you can create any social outcome you want, how much are you willing to focus on making them enjoyable for everyone involved?. -One thing at a time Shug, one thing at a time. We good here? -That we are. - Thanks for the chat, then. See ya ‘round. And if you ever do talk to mah mama, tell her I said hi. Well, maybe see how she reacts before bringin' me up… could be a bad time for you... False Truths You Believe About Your Fitness Instructor

The Flipping 50 Show

Your fitness instructor may be holding out on you. Let's be real, that class you're attending to get the body like the fitness instructor teaching the class, isn't the way she got it. As a consultant and business coach to fitness & health coaches, I know this to be true.   First, because for years it was me. I was teaching classes and doing my own workout outside of class, to extreme. I was training for a marathon for instance and still had to teach 3-6 fitness classes a week. Doing that now, would never even cross my mind. I simply won't try to get someone else fit by throwing myself under the bus. I NEVER say, I exercise for a living. I don't. I teach others how to exercise for a living. I teach principles of fitness for a living. I research the science of exercise for a living and share that, not my single life experiences (a study of one) and share them along with observations of hundreds of thousands of customers over 37 years. Have you ever gone to a really great yoga class? The instructor isn't DOING the class. The instructor is instructing the class. Bingo. The Incongruent Fitness Industry Telling students to do one thing and doing another yourself is misleading, if not just wrong. For years, I was wrong. I was lucky, in that it didn't result in injury or illness, or hormone imbalance. I wised up long ago thankfully, and it honestly was having kids that did that. You just have to. Busy has always been a savior for me when it comes to hormones. Because I like exercise. I like endurance (there I said it). But it doesn't really fit right now. It definitely doesn't fit my hormones and 2019 taught me that lesson, when I tried to pretend or test whether I could just be immune to hormonal changes and stressors. So being busy saves me from myself. Now, let's get back to the real track here. The workout fitness instructors are teaching you is often not what gave them the body they have. Recently, a trainer confessed this: A student had approached her after class and said, “I want to look like you! You're so inspiring!” As soon as the student walked away, she thought, then you're going to have to lift heavy weights! This isn't going to do it!   But she didn't tell the student that. She just encouraged her to keep coming to barre. Is it any wonder why fitness programs fail you? False Pretenses I'm reading Jane Fonda's book, My Life So Far. The book is fascinating and eye-opening (at least for me) and she doesn't hold much back, including the fact she has been bulimic much of her adult life. Into her 50s. (admittedly, that's as far as I am). Yes, right? Iconic fitness queen whose body or energy we all wanted and emulated has a problem. She's now 83, and if you've seen her, she's extremely thin and frail looking. Her inner strength is obvious but externally a stiff wind could blow her down. So, you need to know that your instructor often isn't doing the workout that got her the results she has. She's doing the workout you'll buy and do. She's following trends. She's doing barre or Pilates with you, but she's pouring her heart out boxing in her garage, doing interval training sessions to complete breathlessness on the treadmill, or lifting heavy in the weight room before you're even awake. The results you want from the class you're going to may not be why the instructor looks the way she does, but in spite of it. Because your fitness instructor is doing her own workout and also teaching, she's potentially more at risk for overtraining and under recovery than you! But it is her lifting heavy, her HIIT to breathlessness, and her adherence to a high-quality high protein and whole food diet that helps her. Fake Approach No freezer full of Lean Cuisine or skipping meals and nutrients will get you a body of an athlete. It won't even get you one that's built to last 90 years and live fully to the last breath.   If you haven't yet joined a Flipping50 program in progress, you can join the Flipping50 Insiders group to get the village it takes to build fitness. I've recorded the sun through 3 different solar telescopes using neutral density solar filters, hydrogen alpha (H-Alpha) filters and x-ray filters. I captured the sun through my 3 different solar telescopes and shot them with 3 different solar cameras equipped to shoot the sun and solar lenses protected to ensure they capture the sun in the high definition available. It took me about 5 months to complete the task. I'm so excited to show this to you all. This is the sun is 3 different forms and at three different magnification levels. You truly can't beat these sun images and videos of the sun through my solar telescopes. The project is finally complete and so is my entire solar observatory. I can now record the sun any morning or afternoon and the whole way into the evening. I'm so proud. The Real Sun Through My 3 Solar Telescopes: H-Alpha Filters on All 3 Solar Telescopes, This is One Amazing Solar Telescope Video. Wait Until You See All of the CMEs, Solar Flares, Solar Winds, Rings of Fire and More Caught on the Face of the Sun with My Solar Observatory! It's Absolutely Amazing! Every Once in a While a YouTuber will Fall in Love with a Video that He/She Shot, Edited and Recorded. This is That Video for Me. I Love This Video. This Video Turned Out Better than I could've Ever Imagined In this video you're going to see our home star like you've never seen the sun before. It's absolutely amazing. In this video we will see CMEs, sun spots and tons of solar flares. I compare how the sun looks during solar minimum and solar maximum. I have older footage of the sun along side of newer footage of the sun. You're about to lose your mind when you see the real sun as it was meant to be seen. In my opinion this is one of the best sun videos I was able to find anywhere online or off. There is no competition. I just got the BAADER Hydrogen Alpha Solar Filter (H-Alpha Filter) which allows you to see CMEs, Solar Flares, Rings of Fires, Loops, Solar Winds, EMPs and so much more coming from the surface of the sun. Without an H-Alpha Filter your view of the sun from your telescope is just going to look like a white china ball in the sky. Smooth, white and boring as all hell. The ONLY problem with the BAADER H-Alpha filters for your solar telescope is that it costs upwards of $500. You know me, I got it by ordering it from Amazon, I use it for less than a 30 day time period and then I return it back to the seller. I NEVER keep these things. Who the hell has $500 to spend on a filter? No way! I love the return policy of Amazon. I need to brag a little bit. In this video we caught a few CMEs, we caught a few solar flares, we caught solar winds whipping across the face of the sun. We also caught tons of solar flares exploding out of the sides and the front of the Sun. Absolutely amazing! You really are going to see the sun in the way you've never seen it before. I guarantee this is THE BEST amaeteur astronomy video of our sun you will ever see which was shot through a solar telescope. Hands down! Yes, I'm that sure of it. Why am I this sure? Because this video took me 5 full months to shoot. At least once a week for an entire month I went outside and shot the sun through one of my three major telescopes.  Celestron Edge HD 1100 w/ CGEM II EQ Mount Filters: H-Alpha Filter, ND Solar Filter, UV / IR Cut Filter, X-Ray Filter Camera: ZWO ACI183MC Pro Color 3.0 USB Magnification Extension: 2.5X Barlow Lens Software: ZWO USB Cameras DS iOptron Cube E-R80 Smart Star

The podcast world is always evolving and it raises a lot of questions. Almost instantly after Apple Podcasts sent out a notification about their new subscription service, emails started flooding my inbox.    My podcast host clients were filled with questions like: Is Apple going to start charging people to listen to my podcast!?! Should I be charging people for my podcast!?! How can you be so sexy and be a kick-ass podcast coach at the same time!?!   That last one had nothing to do with Apple’s email but I get that question a lot and I NEVER dignify it with an answer. So, to answer the questions not focused on my status as a podcasting sex-symbol… No, Apple is not going to start charging people to access your podcast. That would be a really bad look for them.  But, they did announce a new option for podcasters to choose to charge listeners for access. There are a couple of ways you can take advantage of this including all paid content, freemium content (without any ads or designated extra content), or continue to offer our podcast for free.    Which brings us to the MOST important question… should you charge listeners?    First, let me point out that charging for access to your podcast is nothing new. It’s always been an option. Apple jumping in with this new service is just making it seem like something we should be considering more carefully.    So, should you charge your listeners? Here’s my take. It depends on the purpose of your podcast.    If you are podcasting as a business (meaning your main business plan is to earn revenue by selling your audience to advertisers) then charging subscribers might be a consideration. It depends on how loyal your audience is. Are they willing to pay or would they rather sit through an ad and let the advertisers pay?  If, on the other hand, you are using podcasting as a way to grow your authority so you can develop a relationship with your audience, create loyalty so that when they buy (a product or service) they wouldn’t dream of buying from anyone but you -- in that case, I say no.    Think about it, all the work you’re doing building a relationship with them and then you want to charge for admission to the friendship? Is that going to help them know, like and trust you? Will they be excited to also pay you for your product or service after you charged them to listen? Is your information or entertaining banter really that much more interesting and exciting than a gazillion other podcasts out there for free?  Are you in the business of podcasting or is podcasting a tool to help you grow your business?  I would say, don’t chase the pennies of a subscription if your podcast is supposed to help you land the big dollar clients.  But, every show is different and every strategy has its pros and cons. So, as a business owner, you have to decide for yourself. Take a look at your business plan and your marketing strategy and see if or where a paid subscription fits in.  If you decide to stay on the free side, know that there is nothing you need to do. Apple is not going to start charging your listeners. Their experience with you and your show won’t change after Apple opens up the subscription option this summer (2021).    Phew, you can relax.    But can you? In order for your podcast to do a good job of attracting and nurturing potential clients, you have to have an intentional podcast that is aligned with your goals.  If you’re scratching your head and thinking something like, ‘what is this too-sexy-for-podcasting coach talking about?’, well then, I invite you to book a free 15-minute coaching call with me. I refused to demo the moves and made friends or co-workers do it.I was comfortable sharing my knowledge behind the scenes. But I also really really really (did I say REALLY!?) wanted to share my passion and knowledge and help others. So Ryan kind of gave me an ultimatum...Ryan basically told me at one point, "If you really want to do this thing, you need to suck it up and get over it and be in the photos."(I would say he said it nicer than that as I can't remember his exact phrasing since it feels like it was almost a decade ago, BUT he probably didn't as Ryan has never been afraid to be 100% blunt with me when I needed it. It's why I love to hate him at times and need him around all the more. Love you butthead! Anyway...)I'm telling you all of this because I think we believe there are parts of ourselves we can't change.I know I NEVER ever thought I'd be a person in front of the camera. But really it isn't that we CAN'T change them...it's that we don't "want" to.It's really often just an excuse we give ourselves to stay within our comfort zone. And maybe that's fine. We don't have to.Maybe changing that aspect of ourselves to reach a specific goal isn't "worth" it to us ultimately. But then we also have to realize that we are setting a limit to what we can achieve.Achieving "greatness," something we feel is beyond our reach, does mean embracing a part of ourselves that may not even yet exist. It can mean, to some extent, recreating how we see ourselves.I mean geez...had you asked me if I'd be doing live videos each week and taking half-nakey photos with make up on, I'd laugh at you as I put on my big t-shirt and pulled back my hair I hadn't brushed in a week. (Ok I still do the last part just also the other!)The point is, we can choose to be who we want to be. It just requires us acting AS IF we are the thing we want to be.It will be extremely uncomfortable to start. You will be implementing habits that often go against what you want to "naturally" do.But it's remembering that what has become natural isn't always best. It was often just easier to fall back into. However, with the repetition and embracing the new habits, it's why I say ACT AS IF over fake it till you make it, you will ultimately become truly who you want to be.Because when we ACT AS IF, we aren't faking it. We are just acting as if we are the person we want to be, implementing the habits needed to create the new lifestyle. As scary as that change was, as much as I felt like I was oddly leaving the Cori I'd always been behind...I wouldn't go back for a second.I became truly the person I wanted to be and am now able to do what I truly love and share my passion. For me the "risk" associated with the change? The uncomfortableness I had to go through?IT WAS ALL WORTH IT.And I think it's sometimes reminding ourselves that change, while hard, truly is worth it if our goal means that much to us.So if you're feeling really uncomfortable now with ACTING AS IF you are the person you ultimately want to be, remember it does get easier. It goes back to that super annoying saying - change requires change.Embrace those new habits this week. Give yourself a pat on the back for being willing to make yourself uncomfortable.Change is not for the weak And KEEP GOING!

Santa Davis and Tony Chin from the iconic Soul Syndicate band joined us to discuss their incredible careers creating some of the heaviest and most enduring reggae riddims ever to come out of JA. The stories they tell are beyond priceless, everything from how the flying cymbals got it's name (I NEVER would have guessed this one) to how the great Stalag 17 riddim was created, to impromptu recording sessions with Bob Marley, Lee "Scratch" Perry taking the hi-hat away from a young & nervous Santa Davis during the recording of "Sun Is Shining", and a whole heap more. The conversation lasted nearly two hours and left us feeling like we had barely scratched the surface of all there is to learn about these incredible musicians. Connect with Jordan: Instagram: @JGoFitLife Join the Waitlist to apply to be a part of my Body Confident Blueprint coaching program Join my FREE Facebook Group --------- * Trigger warning: This episode touches on disordered or restricted eating We Grow Up With Food Rules - Things we’re taught at a young age stick with us. Some food rules I heard were “Rolls make Rolls” and that rice and corn were for pigs. - When we go against these engrained “rules’ it leads to guilt, shame, and even actions if you ever feel full.  - If you’re struggling with these things and taking action, please seek professional help. - Other rules we’ve heard: - “You’re not supposed to feel full, you’re always supposed to feel a little hungry”. - Quick fixes exist - All fat is bad -  Restrict calories extremely - Food as a reward, treat it as a treat - If you ‘eat bad’ you need to punish your body (cardio, disordered eating, guilt) - Carbs are bad - If you want to lose weight don’t eat - Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.  - Food as Fuel: no cheat days and no snacks. If you approach food that way, you’re missing out on life. You focus on what you cannot eat.  - Things we’re being taught because our worth was tied to fitting into a smaller size.  - IF you center weight loss around the ideas society tells us, that’s BS. You’ll be unsatisfied if you lose weight for someone else.  - You can’t say ‘no’ to every experience that revolves around food.    Knowledge is your Power - If you know the truth around these “rules”, you can break up with the “good” and “bad” foods, and break up with the rules. - When you have knowledge, you can become an active particpant in your choices. - Understanding macro nutrients gives you the way to find balance within your body.   The Truth About Diets and Programs - All these fad diets are designed for you to fail.  - Many are old diets that are repackaged with ‘hot phrases’. Weight watchers, adkins, south beach, keto, etc.  - They want you to fail, becuase then you’ll come back and spend more money. The finger is turned on you for not being ‘disciplined’ enough. That’s BS. - All these diets are a short term solution.  - The long term solution lies in solving the underlying issues of mindset and habit.  - The answer is NOT cutting everything out of your diet. When you do that, you’re unhappy and frustrated.  - Companies profit off of your insecurities.    The Diet Cycle - Fad diets and programs cause a cycle of miserable-ness. - You feel shame, restrict yourself, binge, feel guilty and shame, and restrict yourself again. You feel out of control and trapped in this cycle.    How to Break the Cycle - Rules don’t work. They keep you in the “restrict, binge, guilt” cycle. - Break up with the Rules and Mindless Eating - The rules say “Food and Fuel” and “Stop Emotional Eating”. I call BS again.  -  Having emotion attached to food is not bad. Feel thankful that your body is getting food and you’re creating energy. You can show yourself love, and others love, through the food you’re eating.  - Let’s focus on what matters to you when it comes to food. What makes you happy? Incorporate those into your diet. - Once you know what you want, you can find a balance that works for you. I do 80/20. I focus on whole foods and high protein and fiber. My 20 percent is the food that’s more than just fuel. I call this “soul food”.    Personal Example: Ice Cream - I used to struggle with eating an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s by myself. I felt guilty and ashamed, I sometimes made myself get sick afterwards.  - My solution was to get ice cream out of the house. - This did not work. I found ways to justify it, like “I NEVER have this.”  - New Solution: I found a new option. Instead of feeling guilty, I found Halo Top ice cream. Eating a whole pint was more doable. - Next step: Intentionally choosing how much I’d eat in one sitting. Putting it in a bowl, adding fruit, and enjoying it. I was no longer shame eating.  - The Result: I developed a better relationship with ice cream. I got used to having it in the freezer and not eating it all the time just because it was there. I could switch back to Ben and Jerry’s again.  - By taking the time to step back and get intentional, I recognized something about myself. Later at night, I don’t make good choices. Now, I try to have dessert earlier in the evening so I am actively eating it and breaking up with ‘mindless eating’. I gained more knowledge about myself, and therefore more power.    -  Knowledge is power. It’s very helpful to know what you’re putting in and understand macros before you can switch to intuitive eating.

There is a new wave of "financial influencers" giving investment and product advice. Whilst most of this content is created with the best intentions, their content is most often full or errors, dangerous assumptions and innocently forgetting key variables in their projections such as tax, inflation, risks, diversification, the need for 2D assets for longevity and growth. It is important to be aware of this, so that their error doesn't become your regret. I would also like to make a point of letting you know that I NEVER buy likes, comments, ratings, reviews or engagement. Most of these influencers buy comments, followers, subscribers, reviews etc - this is misleading and somewhat fraudulent. As a coach this is one of my biggest frustrations, watching other coaches charge per hour. I charged per hour once in 5 years and I NEVER will again! It's a race to the bottom! What coaches need to do is charge per result! Coaching is NOT a transactional model, it's a transformational model! Therefore coaches need to charge for transformation! This is where a higher ticket offer ($2k+) works really well. Why? ✅ You can delivery a better service and therefore a better result as you have the resources to do so ✅ The commitment of the client massively increases ✅ You have margin to market your offer ✅ It's scalable if done correctly ✅ It takes the same amount of effort to sell low ticket as it does to high ticket ✅ You have the resources to help more people if you choose who can't afford your products & services Now, how would you like to earn £2k per new client acquisition? If you are not earning enough then you are probably not charging enough, you are definitely leaving money on the table! In fact, without an irresistible offer it's simply not possible to charge what you are worth… These are the EXACT same strategies that allowed us to charge £2k

I never networked. What I did was I tried to work really hard at the craft of the game.[00:25:28] It's not so much me, it's who I recruit.[00:26:46] I keep talking about patience. Be more patient. Everything doesn't have to be done today, and everything doesn't have to be done perfect.[00:27:56] You inherently build in the why before they even ask[00:29:07] I believe you're recruiting everybody who you interact with every day.[00:30:41] We call it big brother, little brother.[00:32:06] He calls the safe chair. [00:32:52] Culture of honesty. [00:34:23] I think the key is to get really good at your craft so, bear with me on this, you can win enough to have the fruits of relationships come back towards you.[00:35:47] I like the off season better than during the season because the off season, you have eight months of really enjoying your players.[00:37:58] I tell players, Hey, our relationship will truly begin when you are not playing for me anymore.[00:40:33] So I sought Terry out. I invite him to work my camp, take him out to lunch and we'd talk. So, the relationship grew to the day and we're still very close.[00:43:26] I think the biggest deciding factor will be your family, and here's why.

That's where JOY IS NOW comes in.Join me weekly for an in depth look at all things psychology. Together we will talk psych theory, emotion, and human behavior, all through the sharing of stories, experiences and lessons learned. In this interesting THEORY SEGMENT I discuss my thoughts on the most important question I NEVER get asked, why is psychotherapy important? We answer this question through the lens of the important role of a late night television host, and why we should stop trying to be unicorns. Tune into a SOLO episode to hear a snippet of my story. There was a POWER I would feel in being so rigid and strict with my food and exercise. I had to though, I always had a competition to prep for and a constant fear of gaining 5lbs. I skipped desserts, brought my own food to restaurants, white-knuckled avoiding my favorite meals and cocktails because none of that was an option (in my mind). The people in my life always got to know me as that girl who would skip the indulgent food- and I felt so powerful because of it. Why? Well, It gave me an excuse to say “no” and it gave me an excuse to continue being so “hardcore” and have willpower. ⭐️The decision to stop competing was Not an easy one, but not because I’d “miss” it. Frankly, I was burnt out. it was hard because I would no longer have this excuse as to why I could say “no” to certain foods. A cookie would be offered to me and I would no longer be able to use the competition prep as my crutch. ⭐️It hit me hard, after the last show that I realized my heart wasn’t in it. I NEVER should be using a competition or anything for that matter to VALIDATE my choice to move my body or eat certain foods. I was so focused on what others would say about me, and fear of gaining weight that I lost sight of MY LIFE in terms of what I want in my future (health, happiness, a relationship, a social life, etc). ⚡️it wasn’t easy to no longer have my crutch, but I KNEW something had to change and I had to give myself permission to live my life FREE of being tied to a show. It took TIME, PATIENCE, and SUPPORT, but I slowly began to feel a HUGE weight lifted from finally allowing freedom in my food choices, and less focus on the judgement from others.   Socials: ~APPLY TO 1FITFUTURE: https://1fitfuture.mykajabi.com ~FOLLOW NAOMI ON IG: https://www.instagram.com/naomi.rotstein/ ~FOLLOW NAOMI ON THE WEB: https://www.naomirotstein.com “NAOMI25” for 25% off @foursigmatic “NAOMI10” for 10% off @SWEATCBD See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Caitlin joins us this week to discuss everything SEO. Caitlin's depth and breath of knowledge on SEO and how it can have a positive impact on your business. Knowing how to properly position your business for optimization of SEO rankings is a key factor in getting eyeballs on your business and your brand. Enjoy this interview and check out Caitlin's story and services at www.RisingRanksDigital.com And Caitlin's 'why' from her website: The moment I knew I wanted to start my own business happened during the hardest trial I've ever faced… We went through five failed IUIs, 2 failed IVFs, 2 miscarriages, heard heartbeats and lost heartbeats - but, we ended up getting our miracle, our boy Wyatt. But when he was two months old, the unthinkable happened. We had to rush our baby boy to the hospital for heart surgery. If we hadn't gone into the hospital when we did, he could've gone into heart failure. And after he survived that, Wyatt developed blood clots from the procedure that landed us right back in the hospital for other complications, one eventually leading to eye surgery. During a portion of our multiple hospital stays, my husband had to leave us and travel for work. That's when I realized that I NEVER wanted to go back to working a 9-5 desk job (or, let's be real, a 9-9) EVER AGAIN. I wanted to have the flexibility to be there for my family if I needed to be, for however long they needed me. I wanted to spend life doing only what I loved to do. And most importantly, I wanted to spend as much time with my precious son and husband as possible. Thankfully, Wyatt fully recovered and is a healthy, happy little boy! Through that whole experience, I realized how much of a GIFT our lives really are, and that if we're healthy and alive, we have NO EXCUSE not to be doing something great with our lives, NO EXCUSE not to be doing what we love, and NO EXCUSE not to be changing people's lives for the better! And that's what I hope to do by serving you.

Six months ago, I met Michelle at a chamber luncheon and handed her my business card. After the luncheon, I sent a personal video message through VidYard as a follow-up to our meeting. She watched the video and replied back with gratitude. Then she told me she would keep my information on file. Then Corona hit and real estate was crushed, so I wasn't expecting anything. I received a phone call from Lon this week, a local realtor. He wanted an estimate for a sale-ready presentation cleaning for an estate scenario prior to showings as the real estate market opens more. As we talked, Lon mentioned his colleague Michelle and that I was "highly recommended". I NEVER cleaned for this real estate firm or Michelle, yet she highly recommended me. That's the power of making a strong professional impression. My initial handshake and conversation wasn't special, but going the extra mile with a personalized video made all the difference. I booked the job with Lon for $450 and I never even met him.If you're paying attention to this story as I paid attention to details of my conversation with Michelle (to send her a personalized video), you can take your networking to the next level. Every conversation is a seed. There's another takeaway solo cleaners. This job was a 1-time cleaning for $450. I averaged over $60 per hour and I'm just getting started in my new solo cleaning business as a Stabilizer. I used to earn over $100 per hour as an Optimizer in my 1st business. I'll get back to that level, but the point is that 1-time jobs are very profitable. They also lead to other profitable 1-time jobs and recurring jobs. I build my 1st business on real estate 1-time jobs that lead to recurring. Lastly, these 1-time opportunities have helped buffer our income during COVID-19.I followed up with Drew from Town Supply. He went with another cleaning company. If you remember from "Don't Be a Hoarder", Doug's wife said this to him. "This guy knows a lot about cleaning! Can we get him to clean our new office?!" I thought this job was a definite, but it just goes to show - "Blueberry Pie". I wished him well and kept him on my mailing list. Then something interesting happened. Drew considers me the cleaning & disinfecting expert, but he hired another company. He emailed me asking for some disinfecting recommendations. I shared what I'm using and how to get it. Drew ordered it. How many contractors would have said, "you didn't hire me, ask your new service"? That's not going the extra mile and creating positive ripples in your community. I have shared many times before in this podcast that I consider myself an educator first, then a cleaner. In this case, I was able to serve through education. Mike from my MCBA called me this week to set up a cleaning estimate for his house. He's been reading my weekly educational emails, keeping me "Top of Mind". We scheduled an estimate in 2 weeks. The veterinary hospital that I mapped out a few weeks ago gave me the green light on a new cleaning service. The scope and service cost nearly doubled! This is huge. Since the construction is not done yet, they wanted to phase the increased scope. I developed a 3-month plan and got it approved.Read the rest of this article at the Solo Cleaning School website
