Why You? Why Not You?

SHOW NOTES: On this show….we are flipping the script and answering the call. Why You? Why Not You? Now, I didn't come to this revelation on my own but I did adopt it as a way to overcome that woe-is-me kind of feeling. What if the things you're struggling with are not the raw deal delivered by the universe that you think they are. What if these things happening to you are actually happening FOR you. No pain, no change. Sometimes we need to feel discomfort to seek comfort. What's the lesson here? Shoot if we knew that it would ruin all the fun! Your journey is about discovery, challenges, and triumphs in no particular order and sometimes happening at random. So...why you? How often do you ask yourself that question? It's usually accompanied by an eye roll and an exasperated release of breath. UGH, WHY Me?  You might also echo that statement with things like….” figures, not again, not today, why is this always happening to me? It can feel like life is out to get you or that terrible things are hovering over you just waiting to drop. Maybe you feel like you have a target on your back or a sign on your forehead but whatever it is….bad things happen to you.  And to make matters worse, they aren't isolated incidents that happen once in a while. It's blow after blow after blow! When are you going to catch a break? This feeling is perpetual and once you're on auto-repeat, it's hard to shut it off. You start over-generalizing with overarching ideas like “ I ALWAYS, or I NEVER”. You shoot new opportunities down before you ever even try, accepting that nothing EVER works out for you so why bother. Jordan Brown gives us 4 BIG Reasons Why You're Feeling Stuck in Life (With Solutions) found on the menatalhealthupdate.com Feeling Stuck Reason 1: You Think There's No Hope for Any Change Feeling Stuck Reason 2: You're Stuck in a Dead-End Job Feeling Stuck Reason 3: You Don't Like Where You Live Feeling Stuck Reason 4: Your Relationships Are Draining You Someone once told me, “the day starts and ends with you”. I love these little nuggets of inspiration that burrow deep in your mind but are easy to recall to make sense of the world or to deliver just the right amount of momentum and focus.  You are in charge of how you react to challenging situations, the people involved, the innocent bystander, and even the thoughts in your head. You can see any situation as a good thing or a bad thing and you don't even have to cock your head funny or close one eye. You have the power to view your life through different lenses.  When you wake in the morning, you are in charge of the first thought that enters your brain. Now, sometimes, circumstances make it very difficult to wake up to rainbows in the sky and bluebirds singing on your windowsill - but you can choose to use your circumstances as motivators instead of limiters. Your choice.  Robert Taibbi shares his ideas on a common feeling; When You Feel You Don't Deserve to Be Happy Well, here are some of the common sources of  self-sabotage, see if you identify with any: Past sin(s) Survivor's guilt Trauma Parental worry Feeling guilty if you're happy Deserving happiness   Make amends Realize you did the best you could do at the time Resolve your trauma Directly work on your self-criticism Directly treat your anxiety and/or depression Carry your life's lessons forward Before you can really identify the good AND bad in your life, you need a better vantage point. Why do you think it's important to “find gratitude”? You know that is a huge buzz phrase but what does it really mean and why is there such a push to do it?  With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. ... Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. It helps climb you out of the darker regions in your mind to your frontal cortex where you can get a better vantage point. There you find patience, reason, and self-control.  Finding gratitude helps you put life into perspective. It delivers a healthy balance in what can seem like an overwhelming sea of negativity. With this new perspective, you can start to see the lessons and gifts instead of just the pain and misery.  enée Fishman enlightens us with 7 Ways That Life is Happening FOR You, Not TO You (1) To Teach You a Lesson (2) To Serve Your Awakening (3) To Catalyze Your Growth (4) To Deepen Your Empathy  (5) To Test You (6) To Offer You Proof (7) To Help You Cultivate Trust KEY HIGHLIGHTS -  Feeling stuck starts with your thoughts.  Realize that you are the one who created these thoughts, and you can be the one to create new thoughts. Take a step back. Assess your current relationships. If they are not bringing you joy, it's time to do something about it. Regain your humanity by realizing just how much possibility you have, then seize the moment and do something about it. You are in charge of how you react to challenging situations, the people involved, the innocent bystander, and even the thoughts in your head. When your unhappiness has become your new normal, your view of yourself and what you present to others can feel unsettling and confusing If there is some regret, guilt, or wound that is haunting you and undermining your happiness, you want to find a way to put it to rest, to get some closure.  Happiness is a byproduct of a life fully lived, a life based on self-care and forgiveness that can come with new intentions, deliberate action, support. A life hardship or challenge may arise to give you the tools you need to serve others more deeply or at a higher level. It can help us foster greater empathy and compassion for others.  Sometimes the challenges we face are simply an opportunity to cultivate deeper trust that things will work out. CHALLENGE: to answer the call. Instead of feeling like life is delivering another blow find the opportunity that stands on the other side of your thinking. Use your power and this new perspective to push forward and accept the challenge.    I Know YOU Can Do It!

I played small I’ve always played small. I’ve always second guessed myself and my abilities. I talked about not looking to the left and to the right of you but I ALWAYS did. I compared myself to others. I was envious and I played small. I’d be the person standing in the back of a room because I was afraid of being seen. Now, when it was time or unavoidable that I would be seen, I’d step into my Sasha Fierce version of Beyonce and get the job done. I would mostly shrink. Here’s what happened www.carihawthorne.com

What's the teams biggest weakness? Can they contend in the NL East? Are they on a collision course to meet in the Finals? (1:13:42) The NFL Draft is a month from today and some big trade news at the top of the draft took place. “Love is a verb” - Howie Howie writes Carole:  19 Jan 2003 21:01:50 -0500   We are having a little going away party next door tomorrow at 6pm for Kit and Jeff who you'll recall are moving to Hawaii.  Would love to have you join us if you can.   In Orlando Tuesday afternoon and evening.  The rest of my week is wide open right now - have a bunch of stuff to do but no set schedule.  Would enjoy seeing you as often as you would like this week for whatever activity you like - walk Bayshore, see or rent a movie, meal(s), read, day or evening, your place or mine.  Am simply at your service.  You name it.   You know you're getting old when you have no clue who the half time performers are at the football games, and are not sure what you are hearing is music.   Carole writes Howie At 07:45 PM 1/19/03 -0500:   Tuesday night at 6PM I host the Spay and Neuter meeting at the island.  Wednesdays at 7:00-8:00 or 7:30-8:30 depending on where I go, I have church.  Saturday my period is due to start and I have the No More Homeless Pets thing at the University from 9:30 till 2:00 and just for future reference, I have church on Sundays from 9:00 - 10:00 class and 10:00-11:00 worship and in the afternoon either from 5-6 or 6-7 depending on which congregation I attend.   Howie writes Carole:  19 Jan 2003 22:15:31 -0500   Well, if I'm to pick, we've got Monday evening set (nothing to bring - all taken care of) and Tuesday we're both busy.  Since you are busy Wednesday in evening with church, would you like to do your roller blading that afternoon and come by for a shower, visit and early dinner before church?  And from there we could plan the remaining days before your discomfort time?   I'm happy to try this laser thing for you as long as you are sure I can do no harm if I do not do something right.  Will check the laser site tomorrow but perhaps when we visit you can tell me more.  Planning to have Dr. Dong look at leg Tuesday.  I'll see if I can "remote view" into those dreams.   Carole writes Howie At 09:44 PM 1/19/03 -0500:   Dear Howie,  I would be happy to meet with you and Kit and Jeff Monday at 6PM.  What should I bring?   Thank you for the info on Dr. Yang.  I have laser acupuncture that I wish to try, but would like to know what you think of her if you go.  I can reach all of the spots that need doing, I think, and I have done regular acupuncture enough to have a good feel for it.  If I can't relax and hold the laser in place, would you be willing to do it for me?  It is just light, so you can't do any harm.  I bought it for the cats, but there is a book for people too.  If the laser doesn't work, I will be wanting to see her next month.   If I am ever going to do anything but embarrass you with my ineptitude on the court, I will need your best reference and lots of practice.  Jamie is very athletic and hates to skate, so she can help bring me up to speed for you.  I used to play when I was a teenager.  My father had a powerful swing.  The ball would cut you in half if it made contact.  I am good at chasing cats, in ever changing directions, while swinging those big wrought iron nets that you can catch a cougar in.  How hard could this be?  ;-)    I am sorry to hear that you are expecting a long recovery on your calf, but not  too surprised given your description of the incident.  Want to try the laser?  McLaren Photonic Therapy ® (405) 767-0800 http://www.photonictherapy.com/   As for the rest of the week, I would like to make the most of it, since I will be likely not be good company for a week starting Saturday.  I love blading Bay Shore and could drop by before (less smelly, sweaty and "high") or afterward when I am already euphoric and on top of the world.  I ALWAYS enjoy a walk, but don't want to aggravate your leg.  I spend an inordinate amount of time eating so any time that works into your schedule I am much happier to have your company.  I don't wish to make a pest of myself.  I need to know how you prefer to structure your days, or if you prefer structure to spontaneity.  Left to my own devices, I will work from 7:30 am until 9:30 PM and it makes no difference to me what time of day I break free to do something else.  I am adaptable.   Lately I have spent an awful lot of time in writing, but I do it to sort out my thoughts.  Recently I have needed this time to write, more than usual and I am pleased with the clarity that it has helped bring to the situation.  Please do not feel compelled to write, just because I go on and on.  I am off to bed.  With any luck, I will dream of you.   Carole writes Howie At 08:49 PM 1/19/03 -0500:   Dear Howie,  When I said we are studying Christian Evidences and alluded to scientific evidence of the existence of God and the Bible being His inspired Word, I did not wish to leave the impression that the evidence is so indisputable that one could come to no other conclusion.  Far from it.  What I have learned is that regardless of one's beliefs, from Atheism to Fundamentalist Christian, nothing about the origin of man, our reason for being here and where we go when we die, can be proven beyond a doubt.  When a man says, "There is no God" or "We are all god" he is stating his belief, his faith and in the end our faith is all that any of us have.   I find the evidence of God to be as compelling as the evidence against it so the only issue, in my mind is, "Which is the safest bet?"  If there is no God and I live my life as if there were, there is no down side for me.  I will have lived a good life and treated others the way I wanted to be treated.  I will have spent three hours a week studying something that led me to be kinder, more compassionate and helped others to realize meaning in their lives.   On the other hand, if I bet there is no God and do not spend any time looking into the matter, then I am more apt to be guided by man's changing attitudes and values and it takes a considerable amount of meaning from my existence.  If the Bible is God's Word, and I choose to ignore it, the repercussions of eternal separation from all that is good is a greater price than I wish to pay for a few extra hours in this life time.   I have witnessed great blessings and a closeness to God that causes me to have much greater faith than the last two paragraphs would seem to indicate, but I came to those conclusions when I was far less convinced.  I recently read the Nag Hamadi Library because it was a collection of writing by the Essenes who were walking the earth in the days of Christ.  I am still reading the Dead Sea Scrolls and have been fascinated to learn that as recently as 1942 ancient scrolls were found that evidenced the fact that the Old Testament had been meticulously copied without changes for thousands of years.  That seems nothing short of miraculous to me.  There are no such documents that evidence the accuracy of the New Testament's first 150 years, but there is also nothing in the NT that contradicts the OT.   I am not a member of either church that I attend, because I live a life that is not condoned by the Bible.  Even when I was married, I did not ask to be affiliated with the church because we do not believe in divorce for any reason other than infidelity and my husband was the unfaithful one in his previous marriage, so our marriage would never have been approved.  For the past three years, I have been with men who were not my husband and who would not have been approved marriage partners according to the Scriptures.  I do not wish to be an embarrassment to those members who are doing God's Will, because for me to ask to be a member would be to put them in the untenable position of either having to deny me or defend me.  Everyone in both congregations and several others, loves me and is so kind to me.  I would never want to put them in that awkward position.  The Bible doesn't require me to "be a member" of a local church, but it does state that I am to come to worship whenever the group meets, so I do.   I will never be perfect, but I really only have one big temptation and that is my sexual need.  The Bible tells us that we do need a mate to make our lives complete in this regard, so it is not as if sex were bad, but rather the situations in which we satisfy those needs.   I would feel I was doing all that was asked of me if I could just forego that one desire or if I could fulfill it within the context approved by God.   For a woman my age, that is not likely to happen.   This leads me to something you brought up a couple of times.  You have teased me, as you did today, that I should make the most of your youth and virility while it is still yours to share.  You seemed concerned as I was leaving that I did not recognize the fullness of this relationship for what it is and that perhaps I was limiting it to a sexual attraction.  I'm not sure if you thought that I was doing that, or if you wanted to be sure I knew that you were not, but either way, there seemed to be an issue of sorts.   The lovemaking with you today was the most wonderful I have ever experienced.  I am still glowing.  As I said earlier, I was seeing you through different eyes and was much more appreciative of what I saw and felt.  I wouldn't choose someone based physical attraction alone.  Today, when I mentioned the body builder, what I didn't say was that he holds 7 titles, one of which was Mr. America within the past 10 years and he still competes and wins regularly.  He takes testosterone injections and HGH and was pushing me to do the same, just so I could keep up with him sexually.  He owns thousands of acres of groves in the area and wanted to help me with the land issues I face for the cats.  He's been crazy about me for the past 5 years although I only started sleeping with him in November.  His wife died 14 years ago and all he has talked about is that I am the only woman he has wanted to be with since then.  I just broke up with him last week, without a tear and without a single thought that I may have made a mistake.  Beauty, sexuality, and financial resources are all nice, but they are not the most important attributes a person can have.   For me, the most attractive part of any person is their attitude and their heart.  How is that person making the world a little bit better place?  Of course I am attracted to your physical beauty and your sensuality, but I am only beginning to see what a lovely person you are on the inside.  The more I learn about you, the more I want to know.  I am enjoying every minute!!!  - Carole   Howie writes Carole:  19 Jan 2003 22:04:35 -0500   I think your philosophy is wonderful. I am convinced there is a spiritual force in the universe that we are part of, whether we call it "God" or not, and that one of your sentences captures the most important thing this force would ask of us:  "I will have lived a good life and treated others the way I wanted to be treated."   I disagree with your Church on sex.  I think our sexual desire is a blessing from God that allows us a way bond with another soul despite the fact that our souls are stuck in separate bodies.  But, most people cannot use this gift responsibly and before birth control there was a powerful social reason (unwanted children) that made the rules very valuable.  Maybe the church would say they agree, but only if married and approved by the church, so maybe all I disagree with is the latter.   But while I disagree with the views of your church on this, I heartily agree that we should respect each person's right to adopt the beliefs that come to him or her and that hopefully serve them well.  I'm just sorry it seems to make you feel bad to a degree about something I think is so good.   If believing makes someone treat other people better, then I'm for that belief.  Unfortunately I have found that some of the people who are most active in professing their religion are the most intolerant and behave toward others very poorly.   I think we already mentioned one or both of the two Covey quotes that I love, but they both come to mind.  I may not have them exact: "Love is a verb" "We should not think of ourselves as humans having a spiritual experience.  We should think of ourselves as spirits having a human experience."   My favorite all time pin button (not sure what you call them - the kind with words on them that you can pin on your shirt) is in my office.  It says:   "God is coming......and She is pissed!"   My comment about sex being the "least reason" was to let you know how I feel.  This is not in any way to diminish the wonderment of the sexual part.  I believe the reason the sex is so good is because of other things we are feeling.  I think we share something that is the single most important thing to me, and very rare: values.   It is harder for me to express certain things than I think it is for you.  I can say them to myself, but saying or writing them to you feels like I am being "mushy".  (Sorry - I had to delete the following two sentences.  Another time.  Not trying to be cute or coy.)   Someday, if it would not be a problem, I would enjoy attending one of the sermon's and/or classes.  But if my presence would in any way be awkward or unwelcome, just say so.   Your friend only won those Mr. America titles because I chose not to compete.   I'm concerned that you may go to sleep so mellow tonight that you will not hear your alarm and miss some appointment tomorrow.  Should I knock on your door at the time you want to get up to be sure?   :-)  (you are probably already asleep and won't read this until morning - see what you missed by turning in early?!)  Let me know if you want to join us tomorrow evening (per other email re calendar).  For the Minutes. - Howie   “Love is a verb” - Howie Howie writes Carole:  19 Jan 2003 21:01:50 -0500   We are having a little going away party next door tomorrow at 6pm for Kit and Jeff who you'll recall are moving to Hawaii. I am still reading the Dead Sea Scrolls and have been fascinated to learn that as recently as 1942 ancient scrolls were found In this weeks episode, I sit down with a fellow coach to discuss the ins and outs of fat loss and how we help our clients to achieve long term success with their nutrition, fitness and life!    We hope you enjoy the show!   Here's more info on Jumha:   "My name is Jumha, and ever since I started walking I had the urge to try and be the best at every physical endeavor I took part in. Competitiveness was always apart of my nature for better or worse and that definitely helped in school sports, but outside of that it hurt me. It affected how I viewed myself, what I saw in the mirror, and how “worthy” I felt. You see, I wasn't overweight, I was actually really scrawny but if you saw me at the pool or the beach with my friends I ALWAYS had a shirt on.  I felt like if I didn't have a six pack or “the best body” I didn't deserve to have my shirt off. Nobody I ever saw on television was shirtless UNLESS they had a six pack and muscles, how could little old me ever dream of being shirtless?! I started bodybuilding to boost my self esteem and help me with my dreams of playing pro football (I later found out that my lifting style probably wasn't best for that). It wasn't until I started helping other people with their training journey that I realized I wasn't the only one with self-image issues and that maybe the problem wasn't external at all. It was all in my head; I created my own self-limiting belief and it held me back – big time. Fast forward to becoming an NCAA collegiate athlete that was pursuing an engineering degree and my understanding of training and nutrition had improved drastically! I worked hand in hand with my coaches to design training programs for the track team and we were able to improve every athlete's time/distance tremendously! I decided to take my talents to the corporate gym world while in school  to further continue learning and applying myself. As time went on, I used real nutritional strategies that started to transform the bodies and mind of my clients. They started to experience lower levels of stress and anxiety while showing greater confidence in themselves everywhere they went! The confidence was contagious, it led me to learn more, do better, and help so many people! I went on to help hundreds of people – and counting – feel more confident in themselves, look better, be stronger, and just enjoy an overall improved quality of life! Once I graduated with my Bachelor's in Engineering though I had a decision to make and it wasn't easy but I felt that I was being led to my true calling the entire time. I've been so successful with it already, why not continue to be a direct impact on more people's lives? It was all just so fascinating to me. Not only the fact that I have all these tools to manipulate how one performs or looks, but also how they think, and the mindset strength one can build through training and nutrition. It's something that nobody should ignore, because it's a tool to more power, clarity and happiness. The fact of the matter is, there's a lot misinformation in the fitness and nutrition space – odds are you've heard a bunch of different things from a bunch of different people that probably contradicts itself – and that makes it hard to be confident with the process that you're taking part in. That's why I started StoopidFit, a lifestyle coaching platform to take out the complexity of it all and make it as simple as possible for you! Do you know how a particular food, item, song, or movie can remind you of something? Well, pears remind me of sweet, delicious, fall, sweaters, and comfort. It doesn't matter if you're picking them from the tree, eating them fresh, having them as a sauce, or drinking them in cider form. They are a spectacular symbol of nature. For this reason, I'm going to teach you how you can enjoy them this season. Although we will be making a sauce or cider, you can take a bite while filling your baskets and enjoy the rawness of several juicy pears. The canning instructions are simple and, in general, can be used to can multiple fruits like grapes or tomatoes. Canning Pear Sauce or Cider Items Needed: one large potfunnelladleclean pint-sized or quart jarsa small pot of water to heat your lids inlids and ringsmagnet (optional)canning tongsdampened washclothovenlarge bowl to hold your sauce after straining Ingredients: Pears- 3 gallons Allspice- 1 TablespoonGinger- 1 teaspoonGround nutmeg- 1 TablespoonCinnamon- 1 TablespoonGround cloves- 1 TablespoonWater Directions: Pick and wash your pears. Cut them in half and destem them. Place them in your large pot on the stove and add just enough water so they won't burn. With the burner turned to medium heat, you are starting the process of cooking them down. Place a lid on the pot or leave off. Stir often. You can also use a crockpot to cook the pears down. Once the pears fall apart easily, you will strain them. This can be done using a cone strainer (the method I use) or a mill type method. Your end goal is to separate the seed and skin from the pulp and juice of the pear. When that is achieved, you discard your skin and seeds, pour the remaining pulp and juice back into the large pot, add your ingredients, and bring it to a boil. Stir often so you Do Not Burn the bottom. Special note: if you wish to make cider, add enough water to thin out your sauce. If you want pear sauce, leave as is.At this point, prep your canning area. Have your jars heating in the water and turn your stove to the lowest setting possible. Boil water in your small pot, turn it off, and then place your lids in the water. Once your pear cider or sauce has come to a boil, simmer for 10 minutes. You are now ready to can.Ladle hot pear cider or sauce into hot jars until a 1/4-inch headspace remains. (Be sure to replace the hot jar with a cool one in the heated water.) Once a jar is filled, use your canning tongs and place it on your prepared area. Now, wipe the rim off with your clean damp washcloth, grab a lid with your magnet, and seal it by placing and screwing on your ring until snug. Place your now filled jars into your warm oven. It’s imperative to keep your jars warm until all of them are filled. Once all of your jars have delicious pear sauce or cider in them, remove the jars from the oven and place them in your dishwasher. Turn your cycle to regular wash heated dry. You can also use the added heat option if your dishwasher has it. Although I have never had a jar not seal, you can also use a hot water canner if you feel more comfortable. When your dishwasher beeps, remove your jars, place them on the countertop, and cover with a towel for 24-48 hours. You will hear the lids pop when they have sealed. Another way to check is by pushing slightly down. If the lid moves at all, they have not sealed. Each jar is different in the time it will take. After 24-48 hours, are up, check your lids. When you push down, and there is no movement, you have a successful seal.Store in your pantry if sealed. If not, refrigerate, or use right away. I love this part as we have come to the end of another excellent canning session. I ALWAYS leave enough cider for a fresh cup and sit down with a good book or magazine. My philosophy is, life is to be enjoyed, even while working. Until next time, friends, stay healthy and free.

How has COVID-19 impacted Mid-level and Major Gift fundraising? Are Mid-level and Major donors shifting their giving priorities because of this crisis? Are they holding back on giving? If Mid-level and Major donors did give during the COVID crisis, how is that going to impact year-end giving? These are the exact kind of questions that my close friends, Derric Bakker and Paul Martin of Dickerson Bakker & Associates were wrestling with in their fundraising consulting practice. To get to the bottom of these questions, they decided to go directly to the source -- to Mid-level and Major donors. In June of 2020 they commissioned and conducted the study, Charitable Giving in the Wake of COVID-19. This survey focused on donors to faith-based organizations, but I believe many of the findings will also hold true for organizations that are not faith-based.Derric and Paul are two of the smartest and most accomplished major gift fundraisers in our sector, so when they ask questions like this then do the research and offer their insights, I ALWAYS listen. What their research discovered is something amazing:85% of donors surveyed report that they plan to continue giving through year-end at the same or greater levels than they did last year.64% of donors expect the economy to rebound within one year -- a key consumer confidence indicator. Majority of donors reported that their giving during COVID was in addition to what they were already planning to do -- as in, increased generosity.Giving priorities remain unchanged, with outreach & evangelism ranking #1, and meeting the needs of vulnerable populations in the U.S. ranking #2.We sat down to dig deeper into the research findings, and to hear from Derric and Paul about how fundraisers and nonprofits can and should apply these learnings to their fundraising efforts between now and year-end. You don't want to miss this conversation! The Dickerson Bakker team is also partnering with our good friend Mike Buwalda at Money for Ministry to share even more about this study in a special webinar on August 25. You can sign up for that webinar here, and when you do, you'll get a FREE copy of the E-book, The Top 3 Ways to Approach Major Donors This Fall. Special O

Tell us about you! (Where you’re from, family life, church, ministry, podcast)Bailey Stone is a Montana raised blogger, podcaster, speaker and soon to be certified Life Coach. She is the founder of This Illustrious Life and host of The Illustrious Podcast. Bailey aims to empower women in the pursuit of their God-given calling through personal development practices that boost confidence and clarity. Bailey loves baking, taking walks with her husband Kyle and nurturing an ever growing army of houseplants.2) I’ve been so eager to sit down and dig into confidence rooted in Christ with you. As women we’re living in a time where confidence is displayed more apart from Christ than with Him at the center. Can you share biblically speaking what true confidence looks like! I too have been so excited for this conversation because you are absolutely right! Whenever I prepare to make content on confidence I always hear that Demi Lovato song “what’s wrong with being confident” and while that’s a catchy tune it grieves me a little bit because when we place our confidence in ourselves we are setting ourselves up for disappointment, and heartache and ultimately the antithesis of confidence! Because the truth is we humans are fallible. We are created with amazing abilities but we all fall short of the glory, we all fail and we all make mistakes so if we are the sole source of our confidence, we’re bound to be let down...So with that in mind I want to dig into scripture a bit and explore what God’s design for confidence is. I few prominent figures always come to mind when I think about Biblical confidence like Ruth, Esther and Abigail but today I wanted to throw out some verses that your audience could explore and meditate on...First, I love Romans 8:37 which says, “You are more than a conqueror through Christ”. That word conqueror makes me feel so powerful like I am capable of crazy cool things BUT the caveat is those last two words “through Christ”. What this verse means to me is that I can do big, bold things but ultimately the source of my confidence is in my gifts and abilities is Christ.I also love the encouragement we are given in Hebrews 4:16 one of the only verses in the bible to use the word confidence. Hebrews 4:16 says this”Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need”.So not only can we be confident in ourselves but we can boldly approach our creator. What this means to me is that I don’t necessarily have to rely on my own gifts and talents and trust that God is hanging out in the sidelines. This means that when I am feeling insecure, when I am scared I can run to the source of my confidence and get a fresh injection of that confidence. So Romans 8:37 - I can have confidence in myself and my endeavors because of Christ.Hebrews 4:16 - I can boldly approach my God and the source of my confidence and a final verse I want to throw out, Joshua 1:9 which is a life verse for me.Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”Those three verses as well as stories from women in the Bible like the ones I mentioned above have really shaped my understanding of confidence. It’s boldness, it’s reliance on Christ and it’s courage.3) Something that many people get confused with when it comes to confidence (and I see many women doing this right now) is they think just because a dream is on their heart it means God will make it happen. They believe if a dream is on my heart then why wouldn’t He do it? How do you/would you walk a woman through this thought process of needing to be confident in the abilities/giftings God has given them BUT also understand that just because we “want” to do something with those gifts doesn’t mean He will do it. Because for some women if He doesn’t do it - then they allow that to weaken their confidence in Him.Again, you hit the nail on the head. It is SO easy to runaway with the beautiful dreams that God plants in our hearts and that’s an analogy that I like to use a lot. I like to think of God planting little seeds. When we start to see little seeds sprout we can get carried away and start overwatering or exposing our “seeds” to too much sunlight or buying fancy gardening gadgets and gizmos to make our little “seedlings” or dreams flourish. But God is the ultimate gardener and apart from his lead, again, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. For rot, decay, and sometimes death. When we place our confidence in God he is faithful to see our dreams through to fruition.4) I’d love to hear some of your story in this area of being a confident Godly woman. Did you have a season where you saw your confidence wasn’t rooted in Him or did you feel like you lacked confidence in Christ because of something not happening the way you desired.I have always been pretty naturally confident. From a young age I was pretty “large and in charge” which is funny because I’ve always been a tiny blonde thing. And I’ve had a really strong relationship with Lord from a young age too.I was that girl going to church at least 2-3 times a week and participating in all the summer camps, church events and volunteer opportunities. But it was around age 12 that I started to first feel a wane in my confidence and my faith. From ages 12-14 I became REALLY hyper aware of what other people thought and I started to drift farther and farther from my faith and actually found myself in a pretty dark time by the age of 17.I was crippled with anxiety, filled with a self loathing that expressed itself in gossip and anger and a bit of paranoia and I would have to say that that was the lowest point in my life so far. I was separated from God and I was so depleted of confidence. And I don’t think my story is super unique or surprising because A LOT of young girls start to experience a confidence shift at that age. Your body is changing, your social climate and skills are changing at break neck speed and suddenly, for a lot of us, the opinions of others start to feel a lot more important than God’s opinion.Fast forward a few years and I really got my confidence back after my freshman year of college. I’m not a confidence legend and I certainly don’t have the concept of confidence mastered but when I returned back to God full force and moved farther and farther away from what others thought of me (which is still a daily struggle) the more confident I got and the more clarity I received about my calling which is why I’m so passionate about confidence and clarity work today!5) I think Rahab is a beautiful example from the Bible of being confident in her God. (Joshua 2) Her story was one of much suffering, terrible life choices, but a mustard seed of faith. How can you and I + all other believers help steward women away from their suffering to true confident relationship with Christ?Such a great question. I’m a huge advocate of community over competition. As women I think we struggle with cheering each other on and supporting each other and in that kind of world it's hard to inspire confidence in one another. So the first thing I would say is support other women. When you see something that God has uniquely equipped a fellow sister in Christ to do, cheer her on! And how do we do that? We silently observe, listen and use our words sparingly. So to break that down, when you see a fellow sister is Christ doing something great encourage her! Let her know she’s rocking that mom life, let her know you see her crushing that side business she’s got going on our even just simply remind a friend that you appreciate her perspective. Encouragement doesn’t have to be big grand gestures or speeches, it’s often just a simple, unexpected word.Next, sisters, I know many of us love to chat! But, man, I haven’t met very many humans that genuinely love to listen. And it doesn’t necessarily build confidence to give unsolicited advice and lecture one another. What really inspires confidence is the feeling of being heard and having valid feelings. We all love that feeling of being able to pour out our heart and just be heard, right? Extending that feeling of “your worthy of being heard” can be a HUGE confidence boost! Finally, I want to throw out this idea that unsolicited advice can be a big confidence killer and I see this ALL the time in the church. We blow right past the two things I just mentioned, listening and encouraging and we rush right to scolding, blaming and shaming. There is a time and place for Christ like correction but I would caution anyone listening to check how often they are correcting versus listening and encouraging.6) You and I address on your podcast holy endurance over hustle culture. I think confidence fits right in with that. The hustle culture preaches the message of a selfish self confidence (in my opinion — you can disagree if you feel so and we can talk through that!). How do you blend the two of being bold in your calling but keeping your confidence rooted in Him. I actually couldn’t agree more. This is such a tricky tightrope to walk. Walking this tightrope, so to speak, requires a high degree of sensitivity. Sensitivity to what God is speaking, what He is up to and what His will is.We know that we can be confident in Christ, we know that we have each been given unique gifts, skills, talents, passions and burdens to fulfil our calling but we also know that apart from God we are susceptible to heartbreak, failure or wild success. Success that ultimately leads us astray from God.So my commission to anyone who wants to be bold in their calling with a confidence rooted in Christ is to be sensitive. Take time for stillness, silence and solitude. And again, these are things that I am not perfect at but I value because I know they lead to the source of both clear direction and confidence in my calling.Lately, for me, this has looked like being really slow to take action. I have to ask “God is this from you” and if it’s not I have to walk away and that’s been so hard because I’m a girl who like to hustle for her worth. So again, be sensitive, slow down, find some stillness (the opposite of hustle) and have confidence in your God to sift and sieve the assignments in your life that truly align with where you are being uniquely called in this season. This may sound like the opposite of boldness too but the more concentrated your energies are on the things that are aligned with God’s call the bolder and better you can be in those pursuits.7) If someone were to ask you what they needed to begin living with less of in regards to John 3:30, “He must increase, I must decrease." what would you tell them and why!I feel like I should say less insecurity to stay on topic BUT honestly I think I would say less hurting and more healing. I feel like in order to become less we have to do some hard, personal work which is why I am so passionate about personal development. I feel like we can be better wives, sisters, moms, mentors and disciples when we have less baggage and bruising from our past because the longer we carry that heavy load and wounding around the less effective our witness is. When we’re stuck in hurts from the past we are more focused on ourselves than we realize. Doing the hard work of work on yourself which actually equips you to extend more love and kindness to others which is what being a disciple is all about.I’ll not here that I’m not necessarily talking about BIG traumas. I think it’s obviously important to work through those but I don’t want to communicate that you're a crappy Christian because you have some deep wounding from the past that you haven’t recovered from. What I’m saying here is identify your blindspots, your character defects and your biases so that you can become a more effective witness.Ultimately, this kind of hard work that leads to healing can really inspire confidence not only in yourself but in those you have influence over so there you go I brought it all together!8) What have been your current favorite worship songs! Okay, I love that we are talking about confidence today because the worship song I ALWAYS return to and constantly have on repeat is Confident by Steffany Gretzinger.Find Bailey here!Podcast - The Illustrious PodcastWebsite - thisillwstriouslife.comIG - @thisillustriouslife

I get asked a lot about my opinion on what someone should or shouldn't do as their next steps. And whilst I ALWAYS have an opinion on what that may be, the best advice I think I can ever give someone is what feels right for them and then help them to build a plan around that. There are many ways that you can run your courses. Many ways you can run your programs. Same with how you deliver your content... but just because I do things one way doesn't mean that you can't run it in a way that feels right and aligned for you. For instance, I run my courses LIVE because I love to be able to interact, answer questions and feel engaged with my clients. I LOVE that. I love the feeling of being helpful and being connected. I personally don't want to have a business that solely runs evergreen, self paced programs where I don't get to personally help people. I'd die of boredom!!!!!!!! Catch up on today's The Coffee Run Ep440 for why I do things how I do, and how the ONLY 'should' that 'should' remain is that for you, you should have permission to PLAY and to do things in a way that is aligned to YOU and how you LOVE to create.

Welcome! Question #1: How does yoga support spine health? Movement, Conscious awareness, and breath. Answer…. The simplest answer is because movement of the spine is essential for spinal health, and a key component of any lineage of a yoga asana sequence is movement of the spine in the 6 directions: forward (flexion), backward (extension), lateral flexion to each side, and axial rotation or twisting, in each direction. In yoga we also focus a lot on axial extension of the spine, or elongating the spine up and down, which reduces the natural curves of the spine, but also increases space between the vertebrae and reduces pressure on the vertebral discs by using the core muscles to create a neutral pelvis... Question #2: What's important about keeping the spine healthy and flexible? Answer…The spine is the sole protector of your spinal cord and associated nerves - where your ability to move freely, in all the 6 directions I discussed before, think, sleep and function normally, including being an upright human, come from. Any damage or injury in any part of the spine can cause extreme and debilitating pain, never mind limited range of motion and losing the ability to move your appendages freely, and your entire body, for that matter. Your neural responses originate here, such as: pressure, touch, cold, warm, pain, as well as sensations in your skin, muscles, and joints.... Question #3: Share a little bit about how you got into supporting people around spine health. Answer…My spinal health journey began when I was 20. I had always been an athlete in any sport I could, including being a distance runner for many years, and snowboarding, skating and skiing. I had taken many falls, including landing on my tailbone, and then on my head. I had run long distances from the time I got my first pair of sneakers, and I ALWAYS had what is referred to as “Swayback Posture”. This is when your Thoracic, or mid-spine and shoulders are slouched back behind your hips, so you lead with your hips in any motion, creating more pressure on the Lumbar spine, as the upper torso's weight ends at the point where the Lumbar spine meets the sacrum. Question #4: Share a personal story or a Client story where yoga supported someone in improving their spine health. Answer...It is with great humility that I say, every single person I have taught yoga to has benefitted by learning how to engage their core to extend their lumbar spine. There is not one client whose life was changed more than another, nor did it save someone from surgery, because none of my clients have had to have surgery (but that's not necessarily tied to me). Hopefully, that is because they move consciously now. But, overall everyone who comes to my classes, or has a private yoga session with me, particular to their own needs, feels supported and learns something new about their spine. Question #5: What are 3 postures that someone could do to support the spine? Answer…Well, the truth is that ANY posture where you are conscious of your pelvic tilt and spinal extension is supporting the spine. So, being aware is the very best thing you can do to support your spine... Contact Info... Mental Health Awareness Is For Every Day!

Mental Health Awareness Is For Every Day!   Last week was mental health awareness week, and while I LOVE these things for the increased awareness around a particular subject I don’t want things to be limited to only having the conversation at those times and then forgetting about it the rest.   Mental health is something that can and does affect all of us in some way.  Whether it’s ourselves, a family member or a friend or colleague it will have touched our life in some way.   It doesn’t discriminate and it can be incredibly complex.     Barely scratching the surface!   After THOUSANDS of hours of study psychology and the human mind it’s still something I don’t feel vaguely qualified to talk about other than my own experiences.   It’s important for me to be vulnerable and honest in this episode so you can understand where i’ve been and how i’ve got through onto the other side so you KNOW that you can do it too.     Its not me, it's you!   I get so many amazing messages on Instagram and into my inbox about how listening to The Positive Pants Podcast has helped people overcome certain issues that have held them back for years and thanking me for the difference it’s made to their lives, and that humbles me hugely and means the absolute world to me.    But the reality is, to all of you who have sent me one of those messages, YOU did the work.  I just shone a torch for you to light the way a little.   This is why I loved bringing you the bounce back series too.     I want you to understand that when things get a little messy or a little dark it is NOT the end.  Usually it’s just the beginning of something great, even if it doesn’t feel that way at the time.   The key messages from my incredible guests on the bounce back series were to TRUST yourself.  LOVE yourself. Show UP for yourself.  Be KIND to yourself.  Don’t make the mistake of not talking and hiding away from things.  Don’t give up!     When you acknowledge and accept and ask for help that’s when the real good stuff happens for you and your life can change for the better.      We're all unconscious!   We all have our unconscious beliefs lurking around causing us to self sabotage, causing us to stay stuck.     We all have our childhood traumas that have shaped our identities and belief systems and then what we consciously want knocks up against it making it REALLY difficult for us to actually get it.   We need to identify it.     Heal it.   Thank it for keeping us ‘safe’ for all these years and understand it’s not true and it’s not needed anymore.     Keep it simple!   There’s so much information and advice out there that is over complicated and/or fluffy and it’s difficult to see the practical way to apply a lot of it.  Or to find the motivation to because the reason it works isn’t explained to you so you doubt it’s effectiveness and the effort becomes too much and the excuses creep back in.    So it's important to me that what I provide is not that.     I ALWAYS encourage you to do your own research and find what works for YOU because we’re all different.   What I share I share as someone who’s been there, done it and got the T-shirt myself.     I share it as someone who has made the DECISION to heal themselves, then find out what works and WHY so I can help people do what I did.     It’s thousands of hours of reading, watching, qualifications in transformational coaching, NLP, currently i’m studying to become a hypnotherapist, CPDs in emotional intelligence and positive psychology, Neurocoaching.  The list is ongoing in terms of other qualifications I want to get.  Something I'm FASCINATED by at the moment is the mind, body connection.   I LOVE this stuff.  I LIVE for this stuff.   But understand I’m barely scratching the surface in terms of what I know.   So make sure you listen, most importantly take ACTION, but know YOUR truth.  Know YOUR opinion and find what works for YOU!   And if me sharing all my vulnerable bits helps that….then i’m game!     My turn   I talk about many things I've been through in various episodes but I thought it would be helpful to have them all in one place for you.   I've lost track of the many times and ways I've sabotaged myself in the past. What i'm about to talk you through caused me to sabotage relationships, opportunities, jobs, friendships...pretty much every area of my life!   For me, my main struggle was anxiety at the root of everything.     I struggled with eating disorders, both Anorexia and Bulimia, throughout my teens that followed me throughout my life in some form or another.  Whether it’s abusing my body with junk food.  Too much booze. Then not eating at all, or throwing up after eating, cutting out entire food groups, yo-yoing constantly!   ...along with a little body dysmorphia thrown in for good measure.   I still wonder if what I see in the mirror is what other people see from time to time.      But the anxiety really was the root of all of it.     Anxiety around being judged by other people, not being accepted, not being good enough.     But also general day to day (EVERY day) anxiety where I would catastrophise EVERYTHING.     I was paranoid,    I was chronically negative.     I had CPTSD. My body created trauma responses to keep me safe that actually...weren’t helpful!   It ruled my life and when I look back I can appreciate that for the majority of my life I wasn’t very happy.   I had everything I could need or want but underneath it all I was struggling.     It was something I felt I had to hide, a dirty little secret.     I mean some of it was plain as day to see because I was so thin so it was impossible to.    But there was something I felt a lot of shame around.  It was about control and a lack of it all at the same time.  I felt like I wasn’t ‘normal’ and couldn't understand why I had to struggle so much.   I felt like the world was against me in so many ways.  People and the world were always trying to trip me up, it was like some sort of universal conspiracy.      Reality check   The reality was I was creating pretty much all of it for myself.    Not in an ‘it’s all in your head’ kind of a way because of course it all feels INCREDIBLY real. But the REAL reality is that I didn’t understand it so couldn't see how my thoughts and beliefs were leading to behaviour on my part that were creating my results.   I was taking no responsibility and allowing myself to be a victim.  I created my very own little prison in my own mind.   I didn’t understand what it was, how it was happening, why it was happening OR that I could do something about it.  That I could CHOOSE to do something about it and for it to be different.  We don’t understand our own power,   That’s the thing with unconscious habits, thought processes, beliefs and behaviour...when you don’t know you can change it how can you expect to?     When you keep repeating the same patterns and running the same programming day after day after day and somehow expecting different results...you can see the issue there right?   That sheer frustration when things aren’t changing, the constant cycle of beating yourself up when things aren’t how you want them.   It’s not a fun place to be.  I get it, we all have our stuff and we all have different experiences.  But the less we judge ourselves and each other, the more we accept and encourage the better things will be.   The more we understand how much control we have.     The more we understand that it can and will change when we make the decision.  However that happens.       Don't expect it to be straightforward   It’s never a straight line from where you are to where you want to be, more of a higgledy piggledy wiggle of ups and downs.    There may be days where it’s one step forward, 3 steps back but if you just keep going and keep the faith you WILL get there.  There are days where you find the root of something and in that INSTANT it’s blown that belief out of the water and it’s just not there anymore to hold you back.   I’m proof that it’s possible.  This was 30 years of programming I had to undo!  You can’t do that over night, but you CAN do it!   I’ve worked with a lot of other mindset coaches and even we have our major blind spots.  The things that we can’t see.  Something that comes up a lot is this belief that we have to be perfect all the time, always in a good place, but it’s complete rubbish!   There is ALWAYS another layer of something to get through.  Always.  Doesn’t matter who you are, what you do or what you know there will always be another unconscious layer of behaviour and beliefs to get to.    BUT, that’s the magic.  Getting comfortable with that is the magic.  People come to me with this ‘one last thing’ that needs to be sorted...and I've been guilty of it in the past too until I realised this.   There is always more, and that’s not just ok...that’s GOOD!  It’s a GOOD thing, it’s exciting! Everything you blast away is another level up.  But we have to be honest about it.   Once you know how to solve one thing it’s easier to work on the next but when you can approach it with curiosity rather than judgement it gets really freaking interesting.  It’s fascinating how we work as humans.  We’re so unique.     But it’s being able to take the step back from it being something ‘wrong’ with us on an identity level (Spoiler alert...it’s not!) to understanding it’s a bunch of ways our brains and body have been trying to protect us and that we can CHANGE it...it’s incredibly empowering and liberating.  We look at it so differently, with less emotion, less frustration.   So how do you even start?!   You start small!   The things that helped me and all my clients are ALL the things I talk about on The Positive Pants Podcast.     They are how I live my life now.     On the daily.     I can always tell if I’ve let something slip a little bit because I will FEEL it.     This is why i’m always harping on about routine and doing the basics, it’s often the most simple stuff that can make the biggest difference.     You’ve got to be aware of this stuff so you can catch it before it takes hold.    So some things are more short term than others but there are some FUNDAMENTALS for me.     The basic non negotiables are my morning and evening routine.     Meditation, reading, walking, journaling (I’m bringing out my EXACT method in The Positive Pants Planner so make sure you get on the waitlist!) being in nature, self care!   I told you they were simple!    When there’s something in particular that I want to work on I'll immerse myself in it.  I’ll read books about it, listen to podcasts, watch youtube videos or videos from Gaia on it.  I’ll get all up in that issue and give it focus and I do the work.   If an issue is being particularly pesky I will have some NLP or hypnotherapy...maybe even go down the woo route and get a little energy healing! (Acupuncture, Reiki, Kinesiology are some of my favourites)   All you need is awareness of the issue, and a determination to change it.    These issues I've had are not issues anymore, sure occasionally they may rear their ugly heads from time to time in some way, shape or form...my body and my mind remembers them...BUT I have the awareness to catch it, get curious as to why it may be showing up and deal with it.   They don’t define me.   They are things I've dealt with, not who I am.    Whatever is going on for you doesn’t define you either.   Give yourself some credit for the power that you have.    Take action.     Whether that’s reaching out to someone like me for guidance, or a charity or mental health professional, or even a friend or loved one.  Whether it’s going to events, learning more, reading books...however you choose to start your journey towards change...just start it.   If I can do it, YOU can do it.   Fx

Identifying and Overcoming Resistance in Your Creative Journey

Webster’s Dictionary defines Resistance as, “an act or instance of resisting: opposition. b: a means of resisting. 2: the power or capacity to resist.”  What comes to mind when you think about resistance? Do you start thinking about all the things that are giving your resistance in your life? Do you have a resistant family member? What about that project that keeps giving you a headache? Imagine what it would be like to clearly identify and manage the resistance you face both personally and professionally. I’d like you to join me as I share some insights about my journey with resistance and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. If you are ready to make 2020 a more productive year - you’ll want to pay close attention!  Identifying resistance  I first learned about resistance when I read Steven Pressfield’s book, “The War of Art” in 2005. Before then, I had a hard time understanding why painting, writing, or any other creative endeavor was so hard.  Since then, I’ve re-read that book at least once every single year. Each time I read it, I have a different insight. If you’ve read Steven Pressfield’s book, the War of Art, you’re familiar with resistance. Even if you have not read his book, I’ll wager you are familiar with resistance, you just didn’t know it had a name, a proper name with a capital “R.” It’s real. It’s powerful. It’s a sneaky little bastard who’s not always easy to spot. Pressfield uses a lot of war analogies in his descriptions of Resistance, and he’s right to do so because it’s serious business. Resistance is at war with you, it can destroy you. Resistance wants to take you out, so I do see Resistance as an enemy. If I let him have his way, I’d stop showing up for you. Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere - I want to help artists like you kick this jerk to the curb! Antrese’s rules for overcoming resistance  Resistance will encourage you to overthink, over analyze and over research to the point that your mind is so filled with data, you’re immobilized. I am the queen of overthinking and self-inflicted analysis paralysis. Since I know that is my tendency, I’m learning to make action my default. Over the years, I found a few helpful ways to combat and even overcome Resistance’s influence in my life. Here are a few rules I’ve made for myself, in time I may adjust them but for now, they’re working for me: Given the choice between consuming and making, I will always choose making. I can only research for 20 minutes at a time. After I research I ALWAYS take action. That means if I’m researching a technique, I can only spend 20 minutes before I try the technique. I only need to know enough to take my next step. Most of the time, that baby step is enough to get me going. So there are a few examples of rules I have created for myself and I’d like to challenge you to make your own. You may not be prone to analysis paralysis, but you’re prone to something, and Resistance will find it and use it against you. Take the time to identify Resistance’s power in your life and plot steps to mitigate and even remove its power. Trust me, I know it’s hard work but it’s worth it!  Outline of This Episode [0:01] My introduction to this episode.  [3:00] Some awesome feedback from artists like you!  [5:00] Let other people inspire you.  [7:00] How resistance shows up in my life. In today’s episode I confess FIVE reasons I love projects—so that I can help you understand WHY you need to join me for 20in20, my NEW online course that launches January 3rd. AND, I’m still donning my Santa hat, because I have a SWEET deal for you when you register with the promo code: PODCASTYou’ll save $10 which is like getting January FREE. Learn more and register HERE. I started this episode with a few words from Matt Culls, who gave a killer TED talk back in March of 2011. He is in some degree (I believe) responsible for the surge of 30-Day challenges that you see all over the Internet and on social media. Matt began challenging himself to TRY something new—but he only had to commit to 30 days and he reports how many of these efforts changed his life. Now, why projects?Because, they are …Projects are inclusive: Anyone can participate in a project. You don’t have to commit long term or possess special talents or training. I especially dig projects are easy in and easy out and leave you feeling confidence and curious for more. Projects are definable: When you decide to pursue a project you get to DEFINE these parameters for yourself. You can begin and end with something quite specific in mind. You can imagine the outcome before you even start. You can say, I’m only willing to spend X amount of time or X amount of dollars. You can choose to keep it SIMPLE in a number of different ways. Projects have a purpose: The 3rd reason I love projects is because projects can help me accomplish something particular—for me, projects often serve a specific purpose. I often recognize something I want to accomplish or bring into my life and that desire generally leads me to an idea—that I can then define and execute. Projects are energizing: There is nothing quite like the energy inherent in FINISHING something. When people ask me about organizing photos or creating a scrapbook for a loved one or documenting their own life, I ALWAYS suggest starting with a small project-based approach. Do something small first—why? Because then you will energize yourself moving forward. Projects are FUN to teach and share: For ALL of the reasons I have already shared, I love to teach others how to craft (specifically) memory and story-based projects. I don’t expect everyone to love what I do as much as I love it, but I can give them a taste of it and that brings me so much JOY. I would LOVE to introduce you to my favorite kind of projects—those that use photos and tell stories. Why not JOIN me in 2020 and let me help you plan, prepare, start and FINISH 20 unique-to-you projects that will help you tell some personal stories. Of course this class is a bit longer than 30 days, but …You’re officially invited and your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you’re not totally thrilled after 30 Days of class, I will refund your money. Do you often get caught in a worry loop?     When something happens (or often, hasn’t even happened yet!) and your immediate reaction is to catastrophise and think of all the worst case scenarios that could possibly happen….before they actually have.    Then, you plummet into a ‘woe is me, everything’s awful, this is 100% the end of the world’ kind of zone which, let’s be honest, doesn’t help anyone!    Sound familiar?  That's the worry loop.  Urgh!    This used to be me on a daily basis ha!     SO, let that be a testament to the fact that it can change for YOU.   It’s often just a few simple tweaks to the way you look at and think about things, catching yourself before you descend into the loop and getting into the habit of thinking in a way that is going to be much more helpful for you.   We can also often use these common thought processes to make this a judgement about ourselves.     ‘I’m such a worrier’. ‘I ALWAYS overthink.’ ‘why do things ALWAYS go wrong for me?’   We beat ourselves up and stay in that victim mode far longer than necessary and make it a part of our identity.   Here’s the thing.     Worry is NOT something that is ingrained in you as a person.  It’s not WHO you are, even though it may really feel that way!     You have a HABIT of worrying.    It’s the go to defence mode that keeps you safe.    It’s what I used to do.  I thought that if I worried about things it would in some way change the outcome. I would be prepared for the worst case scenario if and when it happened.  But what was really happening was I was already living my life as if it had! Pain for absolutely no reason.   The reason I’m talking about this today is it’s something that has been coming up a lot for my clients recently.  Worrying about putting themselves out there and thinking about all the negative ‘what if’s’ that may happen, and not focusing on the positive potential of what may happen when you do something.  It’s easily done!   It’s also something that I used to really struggle with and things that have happened, personally, recently have really highlighted how big the shift has been for me and what that’s meant for my life.   What if?   I really used to let worry, overthinking and anxiety overtake my life.  I would worry constantly about the ‘what ifs’ that hadn’t happened yet.     When something DID happen I would go into victim mode and I’d literally want to hibernate and dwell in my own little self made misery pit. Life wasn’t life for me unless SOMETHING was going wrong.  It was my default mode.   When you start to do the work on yourself you start to see these habitual patterns in all their glory.  It can be hard to look at, often hilarious to look at with a sprinkling of ‘what on earth was I thinking’ thrown in...but always enlightening and ALWAYS making so much sense.   I’m always saying that awareness is the first key to change but you get to have that on the other side of the change too.     Those special moments when you realise how far you’ve come and how something that felt so all consuming at the time, is just not an issue at all anymore.   The thing that’s really highlighted this for me this year is the fact that 2019 has NOT been the best year for health in my family.     Both my parents were diagnosed with cancer within a few months of each other.  Dad was recovering from a big op and then mum got diagnosed.    Now, they are both on the mend and we have always been a family of ‘if something’s not right, go get it checked.’ We are incredibly lucky which is a point I will come back to later.     Then I recently had my own scare.     In the back of my head I was like...come on the likelihood of it being a triple whammy is so so small.  But, I really noticed how I took it in my stride.     The time waiting, the appointments, the invasive tests, the potential outcomes and what that could mean, whereas before it would have absolutely crippled me mentally.     I know I wouldn’t have been able to think about anything else when I was in the head space I was in previously.  For it to be both my parents and then thinking about the potential it could be me too. I could have let those ‘what if’s’ consume me as I would have done previously but I was very matter of fact about it.     Whatever it is, we’ll deal with it.  There’s no point worrying until we have the facts.  It just didn’t feel like a big deal at all, it seemed more of a big deal to the people that knew it was going on than it felt to me.     These thoughts CAN consume you...I get it!   Something that happens (or you’re worried about happening) in one area of your life can affect everything else!   As a side note, I’m also absolutely fine, thank you very much for asking ha! Lifestyle change and a little operation and I will be right as rain! So I’m VERY glad I didn’t waste all that precious time worrying, not taking action ‘just in case’ or preparing for the worst.   We all could have chosen to focus on the big scary word and the treatments and all the other stuff but it just brought us together as a family.  We looked after each other. Which is why I say we are lucky.   We chose to look at what was in our control and what was out of it. To look at the positives in the situation.     It’s made us take our health more seriously. Not take things for granted.  To be grateful ALL the time, even when things don’t look or feel great.   SURE there were FFS ‘moments’, that’s completely normal and understandable when the proverbial hits the fan, but it was the conscious choice to not let it affect other things, and to ask ourselves better questions.   So what’s my message here.   How you choose to respond to things really is your choice.  You may have habitual thinking patterns working against you right now but you’re the one in control here, not external circumstances.   Remember that, it’s powerful.   It’s very easy to, but you don’t have to go into panic mode and focus on all the negatives, you can choose to look for the positives, they’re always there if you choose to look.   It’s about resilience, problem solving, knowing you can’t plan your first reaction but you can always choose your second.     Looking at something and going, right, not ideal but what can I do here to improve things?  Whatever it is. Whether it’s an issue in your business, your health, your relationships, the same rules apply.   It’s about catching yourself before you head into the worry loop and being able to use gratitude as the antidote to worrying.    It’s about perspective. Perspective is Huuuuuuuuuuge when it comes to blasting away worry.  Is it REALLY the end of the world? Probably not!    When you’re caught in a worry loop and you’re making something MEAN something else.  ‘This might happen and that would mean X would happen.’ really catch yourself in those thoughts and ask if it’s really true.  What else could happen that’s not negative? What’s a potential positive?     It’s about asking yourself who is this worrying helping, who is it harming?   It’s knowing to catch yourself in those loops and your best and quickest routes out, do you have a coach or mentor or best bud who can shift your perspective easily until it becomes a habit?   Life can throw us some serious curve balls from time to time but it’s up to you how you want to handle it and what else in your life you let it affect.     It won’t be easy at first, you’re creating new neural pathways and changing habits you may have had for most of your life.     But know it can be done, and there WILL be a day in the not too distant future where something happens that previously would have hugely affected you, and you take a step back and notice you’re cool as a cucumber.     I wish you many of those moments, because if you do the work, they’re coming my friend!   If you know that now is the time to start changing things for yourself and want to explore this further, have any questions or want some accountability to make sure you’re doing the things you need to then please book in a free discovery call so we can see what needs to happen to get you from where you’re at right now, to the successful business owner you know you can be!!    Fx

If you are trying to transform your life, and you have been having difficulty avoiding or ridding yourself of fear, anxiety and limiting beliefs -this episode provides the why and the how of beginning to let go and transform fear. Changing the way you understand fear and redirecting your focus helps you gain control. In this episode, Odille and Steve Remmert talk about how fear does not keep you safe, and provide some preliminary tips for overcoming fear. Odille and Steve Remmert are the creators of The Remmert Method - including Childhood Memory Transformation (CMT) as the means to change your life. SUGGESTIONS FOR WAYS TO SWITCH YOUR FOCUS: (If one doesn't work, do another one - keep going until you have moved your focus off of the fear) 1. Change it to the opposite, positive, and empowering - immediately, in that moment (EVEN IF you don't mean it or feel it!). For example: "I don't know what to do." - immediately say to yourself: "I DO know what to do, I ALWAYS know what to do!" (Even though you really don't know what to do. Remember - your subconscious doesn't know the difference between reality and imagination). 2. Imagine yourself as a child in front of you and imagine hugging that little you and telling him/her that you love them no matter what. And then, for bonus points, reassure him or her with the opposite thought, above. 3. Use your "Touchstone Moment" - a moment in time that represents what you'll do and say when you have what you want. For example: high-fiving a friend and saying "YES!! I DID it!!" or "Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!!" 4. Look for three or five things to be grateful for. You don't even need to find them, just looking for them will start to change the chemical state of your brain. 5. Think of a favorite memory and give yourself the treat of spending a few seconds in it - as if you're there again. 6. Sing a funny, quirky, or uplifting song in your mind. 7. Think of hugging someone you love. 8. Imagine being hugged by someone who loves you. 9. Do a little silly dance, on the spot, to amuse yourself. 10. Think of something funny you heard or experienced that makes you smile. 11. Do some physical exercise - for example, go for a walk while listening to an uplifting audio book or music you love. ****To find out more about changing fear and other limiting beliefs and emotions - and conditioning your brain and body to feel good most of the time: https://superpower.subconscious-reprogramming.com/masteryouremotionscourse/ FACEBOOK PAGE — Reach out for HELP in our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theremmertmethod/ ________________________________________________ YOUTUBE CHANNEL- Subscribe to our YouTube Channel, Here: http://www.youtube.com/c/FastTrackSubconsciousReprogramming Odille and Steve on SOCIAL MEDIA: https://twitter.com/BeyondMagicPill https://www.instagram.com/odilleremmert/

As artists currently living in a world of instant “feedback” where we’re constantly tempted to check how many streams we’ve gotten on Spotify or likes a post got on social media to see if something we made is connecting with people. In a world where the first question I ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) get asked about my podcast is how many downloads it gets. We can start to have a misplaced confidence in our understanding what it is we’re creating that is making the most impact on people. The fact of the matter is, you and I are shit at knowing what it is we make that’s going to resonate with other people. We think the numbers encourages us and motivates us to keep creating, but the fact is… it’s a shallow motivation. As soon as the numbers stop reflecting what we imagined they would (and it WILL happen to you) the amount of discouragement that follows is enough for me to see a ton of my friends quit making honest meaningful work. That’s why I think you and I need a need a mantra to repeat to ourselves this month and here it is: “That’s none of my damn business!”     podcast hotline: (612) 584-9330      website | map | itunes | instagram | intro song | YouTube

The episode is actually about deception, so again it is like Michael Jackson. Speaking of creepy art, Pete brings some in and watching the Louvre, coz Mona Lisa has a new rival in town and it has a lot of penises on it. Rob deceives a little boy [Michael Jackson reference here] and Vorn says nothing untoward and goes in depth behind the meaning of his tattoos.

Random Thoughts with Nicole L. Turner

10 things to tell yourself instead of I can’t: I am doing my best every day. Even if when you first start telling yourself this, you aren’t really doing your best every day, the more you say this to yourself, the more your best will show up. The best is yet to come. Too often people spend way too much time on what didn’t work out & they believe that is an indication of what’s to come. Well, the best is what’s to come. The greatest mistake I will make is by living in fear that I will make one. Honestly, true failure is not trying. I will celebrate my failures. Failure is part of the process. Failure is a great teacher. As difficult as it may be, try to be grateful for the failure. According to Oprah, failure is another step to greatness. There were times before when I said I can’t, but I did. Reflect on past successes. It’s human nature to focus on the negatives but take a moment to pause and think about other times you thought you couldn’t, but you did. I am not going to let things discourage me. Richard Evans said it best when he said, “Don’t let life discourage you; everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.” I believe in myself. Be your own cheerleader. Have your own “you got this” moment with yourself. I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul. You have the power to choose. You determine what your future will be. You are in the driver’s seat of your life. I love myself. When you love yourself, you want the best for yourself and you go out there and get it. I am grateful for every day. I ALWAYS emphasize the importance of gratitude. Being grateful leads to more happiness and being more optimistic. Try saying these to yourself on a consistent basis. Turn your cant’s into cans – it’s time for you to be a cans collector.

A while little ago, in my Facebook group, someone hit me up with a question.   The question was:   “Stephen, would you have made $1 million faster if you’d just focused on ONE business?”   ...the question shocked me.   Because ...*I ONLY EVER FOCUS ON ONE THING*   So, I started thinking about how it can look like I’m doing MORE than I actually am... and it has EVERYTHING to do with how I focus and what I focus on.   So if you wanna get a crap ton done, (without burning out), this is for you!   BECOMING THE OFFER GUY   At the beginning of 2018, I had no product, no business, NOOOTHING. I only had ONE focus…   My first product was in the MLM space. I built a product and a high ticket offer.   Then, I spent two to three months just putting the systems in place and testing them to see if they worked...   I didn't take my focus from that ONE area until the systems in place to run it.   But I was kind thinking:   “Hmmm, I love offers, and frankly, no one else really geeks out about 'em as much as I do. I'm gonna be the offer guy.”   Russell said: “You should be the offer guy!”   Dana Derricks said: “You should be the offer guy!”   I realized that there hadn’t really been a full-on Offer Creation King since the early 1900’s #Claude Hopkins...   ...so I was like, “Yo, I'll be the offer guy!”   BUT… that didn't happen until September 2018.   BUILDING BUSINESS SYSTEMS   Thankfully, by that point, the systems I’d been testing in my MLM business were ninja awesome.   Unless we're launching something, I spend only about an hour a week on maintenance… so, now my MLM product is kind of my back-end business.   I’m not gonna shut in down…   We put $1 in and we get $8 to $10 back out.  Why would I shut those ads off?   It helps a lot of people, the content is good. It delivers and people make a lot of money from it.… *if they just do it*   It's something people want. It's extremely valuable. No one else is doing it.   I'm not gonna turn my MLM business off, but I don't have to maintain it that much either.   On my side, it's all automated and systems are in place.   I have:   Support. Fulfillment. Phone people who chat with customers.   BUT…   I'm NOT touching the business on a daily basis. I'm the orchestrator.   Once a week, I'll check in, but I don't really do that much of that anymore…   Coulton handles the majority of stuff over there, and now he's got systems and people in place to free him up too.   That's what's soooo funny about the whole argument that I would have made more money if I’d only focused on ONE thing. I ONLY EVER DID!   I only focused on ONE business.   HERE’S HOW IT WENT DOWN…   #1: I left my job   January - March: I focused solely on just that main MLM product. For the next two months, (up until about the end of April): I set up systems and teams to take over what I was doing.   #2: The one thing on top of that was that I'm still pretty involved in the ClickFunnels space.   So that might be the thing that some of you guys might try and slap my hand about… I DON’T CARE.   I love Clickfunnels. It's like my second home. Heck, I even have Russell stickers on my phone ;-)   So, I was contracted as a 2 Comma Club X Coach. I was creating a lot of content for ClickFunnels, and I was doing a lot of events and stuff still…   In August, we did the first One Funnel Away Challenge, so we were developing that content as well.   However, so much on the MLM side was already automated, so that I  didn’t really have to touch it.   Do you understand?   For the One Funnel Away Challenge, I go live once a day for 30 minutes to an hour, (except for two or three days each month when it’s a little bit more than that), and honestly, I just enjoy it.   I tell EVERYONE to start coaching. People overcomplicate thing. If you start coaching, after a while, you'll notice patterns, and see the BIG problems people have...   Then you make that a product that solves that problem. BOOM!   That's the real reason why I coach. It keeps me sharp. I'm not gonna stop that.   I’M NOT THE FUNNEL GUY   By about September, I started thinking:   This MLM stuff is fun, but what is it I wanna be known for?”   I'm not gonna be the funnel guy, ( even though I’ve built a whole bunch of funnels), that'd be dumb. Russell is the funnel guy. He's the category king of funnels. How can I create a business that’s complementary to funnels, but not in competition with Russell?   Well, I freak out and dive into offer creation more than anything else.   I just bought another book called The Science of Emerging Markets; it’s super nerdy, and I'm so excited about it...   My fifth bookshelf is topping out. I geek out, man. Offers are my jam. I love just offer creation.   I'm trying to be the offer guy.   … but that decision wasn't official until September.   MY OBSESSION   You have to understand that when I'm putting a product together... no other product exists in my mind.   I have CRAZY FOCUS. It’s obsessive, (probably too obsessive), kind of focus.‘I can't sleep that much for six weeks’ kind of focus. And, honestly, it’s not that healthy, but it's how my brain works.   I go in these cycles of insane focus... I go dead to the world. Besides my podcast and blog, no one hears from me. I barely leave my office:   I'm building I'm crafting I'm creating I'm very meticulous I’m very methodical about the things I'm putting together   That was true for the first 2 Comma Club Coaching program that I helped to develop at Clickfunnels.   It took me six months to create that... and for the first six months after it launched, I was NOT really doing my own stuff. Besides my podcast - *NOTHING*   I was solely focused on tweaking and improving the program   Did it provide what customer thought was gonna be there? Was it delivering the result that I was trying to deliver?   If the answer was:   No? This is not clear yet! I should plug up that hole.   ...then I filmed more training. I plugged any holes up.   So that's what I was doing for the first half of 2018 in my own business.   By the second half of 2018, I had:   Systems in place People running things for me   I spent almost no time, no energy,  no effort, or mental capacity thinking about that MLM business. I just ran, cash flowed and I made money.   Why would I shut that off? It's NOT a second focus, though!   I HAVE A PLAN   I have a few buddies who run several multi-million dollar companies, and they can do that because of systems. Think about Warren Buffett, how many companies does that guy own?   Did you know that he only has a small team of about 30 people... and he runs all of those businesses.   I’ll bet he has some kick arse systems in place!   You have to understand, I'm not a launch business.     I'm NOT just launching new things all the time... I know it can look like that, but I'm building out the value ladder.   It's very thought-out. I’m extremely methodical with what I'm launching.   It's NOT a second focus; I'm building the same thing.   Everything is connected and intertwined all paths lead to the same goal.   The book. The summit, (I have offersummit.com). My events.   ...they are all part of the same value ladder.   (I'll do an episode talking about my value ladder and how I structured it and how I thought through it, at some point in the future)   I'm also very excited to announce something extremely special at OfferMind on which is September 2nd - 3rd, 2019… but it’s all part of the same value ladder!   BECOMING A CEO   I cannot run two content teams, but a system can. I cannot run an internal funnel building team, but a system can.   The whole point I'm trying to say is that  I started as a marketer, but I'm also becoming a CEO.   A CEO is in the business of systems.   I am a marketer who's also a CEO.   For Example:   My internal funnel team built 80%-90% of my OfferMind Funnel. Then I plug in all the holes, edit the copy, and stuff like that. It speeds me up like crazy.   A lot of you guys are marketers, but you're not CEOs yet. That's okay, but you gotta understand that a CEO is in the business of systems.   I build a product, and then I put systems in place so that the time I personally have to spend maintaining it is very small... and if I can't create effective systems, then I don't build the product.   That is a HUGE lesson!   I've actually changed a lot of the methods I use before I design a funnel.   I no longer just design the funnel, the offer, and the sales message…   In fact, designing the actual funnel is ONLY on the top diagonal corner of my whiteboard   On the other bottom diagonal corner, I design the fulfillment and the systems, so that when my product launches, it launches with fulfillment.   Then, I sit back and I think to myself, “What’s my input required for that product?”   I still wanna solve the problem that product is solving. I still wanna deliver the value that the product and the offer are promising, but I don't wanna marry it…   ...and my guess is you don't either?   What I'm doing is very thought-through. I'm not just launching stuff. I'm NOT the guy juggling multiple balls, and I'm NOT the circus guy with the spinning plates. I don't do that.   I develop a business. Not a hobby product. I look at each one of these things:   What fulfillment is required? How can I over-deliver? What's the system that will do that? Is it a process or is it a who?   A hobby product is one where *YOU* are still the business.   If you are the person doing it all, you don't have a business. Your process will die if you go on vacation. This is one of the reasons why most businesses will NOT succeed.   STAYING IN YOUR ZONE OF GENIUS   My job is to stay in my zone of genius. So the question I have to answer is:   How can I operate in my zone of genius... while still delivering everything else?   In My OfferLab, there's a workbook that walks you through EVERYTHING piece by piece. Each person needs to consume largely the same material, which means I would be saying the same thing every single time, so I make a course and a workbook for them to walk through. Sweet!   To provide more hand-holding, I brought in in a who.   That who is with them pretty much daily, answering any questions and guiding them through.   I'm NOT trying to take the human out of the machine, (especially with my high-ticket stuff, I'm extremely involved with OfferLab), but I ALWAYS looking for ways to stay focused in my zone of genius.   My role in my business is to facilitate my own zone of genius.   … and it is NOT by me answering support emails.   It is NOT by me going when someone asks, “Where is this resource?” That is NOT something I should be doing.   THE GHOST IN THE MACHINE   If you're busy launching your product, and you're doing all the stuff on your own, it makes sense why you would look over at me, and be like, "How is he doing all that?"   The Answer is: *I’M NOT*   I have ghosts in the machine. I build machines. I build systems. I'm the systems guy.   I'm a marketer first, but I'm also a systems guy. I like to set things in place so that I know the same three-four things that I have to do to keep the machine moving.   #Monday = I launch products… because I love Mondays so much.   I love launching projects to my team: I don’t do it all. Instead, I say:   “Hey funnel team, this is what I'm gonna go launch, and here's what you're gonna do. I need you to do this. I need you to do that...”   … and I run through it all with them.   #Tuesday = is my content day.   #Wednesday = is becoming my systems day.   It's where I focus on my business systems; whether that’s setting a finance structure so that we’re protected legally, or whatever…   I literally write out systems that say, “ Hey Mr. Support Person, every time this happens, do this.”   … this is very much the piece that has helped increase my leverage in this past little bit here.   >>This is very important key stuff to understand

SFR 227: Physical Vs Digital Products...

Sales Funnel Radio

There are specific differences in value between physical versus digital products...   I want to show you the benefits of both and how I combine physical and digital products to increase my average cart value significantly.   This teaching comes directly from my Live Event, OfferMind   Over the years, I’ve coached thousands of people and gradually, I’ve discovered holes in the status quo of what’s delivered... versus what it actually takes to be successful.   I created OfferMind to fill in all the holes that I've seen from my (kinda unique) position.   The next OfferMind is coming up this fall on September 2nd - 3rd.     Russell is keynoting (which is very very exciting). He’ll be speaking on the last day. I'm gonna try to get a few other heavy hitters as well. It's gonna be awesome!   To join me and Russell, go to OfferMind.com to get your ticket.   HACKING VALUE   I want to show you one of the easiest ways to increase:   How much money people spend with you How much money you get to keep   ...sound good? Let’s do this! If you look at a lot of the funnels that we create around low-end free plus shipping products…   For example, A BOOK.   A lot of times, a funnel starts with a physical product and then progresses to digital products as the funnel continues.   There's a VERY good reason for this strategy, and that's what I wanna teach you about here because...   It's one of the easiest ways to:   Create a lot of income very quickly Get a lot of eyeballs/ customers that are very excited Get a lot more money in the door than your spending on ads   PHYSICAL PRODUCT VS  DIGITAL PRODUCTS   There’s a beneficial relationship between physical and digital products, (and to state the obvious) they're not the same and they don't serve the same purpose.   My point is that whether you're in the e-com or the info product space, adding some products from the other side of the fence is one of the fastest ways to get A LOT of extra cash in your pocket…   I’m gonna ask you a few questions here:   Q: What's the benefit of an info product?   A: We did the numbers on my info products, and they have like a 98% margin. The margin is huge. *HUGE* (all caps)   Q: What's the benefit of a physical product?   A: It's tangible. It can be touched. The Perceived Value is High. Your customer’s mind will be getting the anticipaton of a dopamine hit as soon as they place their order. “I'm gonna hold it soon.” “Oh, imagine what it's gonna be like whan I have...” “What'll it feel like using it …. doing it…. driving the vehicle…” (whatever it is the thing is).   Physical products have a gigantic emotional advantage over digital. However, it's the exact opposite when it comes to the margins.   Info Products = very low perceived value.   Why?   The perceived value of an info product is typically low because the customer knows that it just takes an email to fulfill it...and it's probably already made.   So while the perceived value of your info products is inherently low, the margins are huge. BUNDLE YOUR PRODUCTS   On all of my webinars, I ALWAYS ship an awesome physical product EVEN THOUGH it's mostly a digital thing. When people show up they get a t-shirt. I do the exact same thing at my live event too.    There's a physical thing that they're gonna be able to:   See Hold Touch Taste   …(whatever it is), actually in existence.   BUT...   My actual profit comes from INFO… because it cost almost nothing to fulfill on.   A lot of times, on free plus shipping offers, we lead with a physical product…   For Example, A Book:   Low Cost Low Price High Circulation High Perceived Value   Here’s another question for you…   Q: With all the upsells, what have you noticed?   A: They're mostly all info!   Sometimes we’ll do MP3 players and things like that, but usually NOT. It's usually straight info.   We know that a percentage of people will buy.   After the first “Yes,” the second “Yes” is so easy... waaay easier.   So don't mess around with the first “Yes.”   Get the first “Yes” quickly by selling the high perceived value product that's (a lot of times) physical.   ADDING PERCEIVED VALUE   So a lot of times, in my offers, I’ll add a physical product to increase perceived value.     My Funnel Stash, I ship out a whole bunch of stuff; even though most of it's digital.   For Secret MLM Hacks, I ship out a lot of stuff when people buy … even though it's mostly digital.   That’s a huge hack to the game right there. It’s MASSIVE.   So with your info product, I would bundle up a whole bunch of physical stuff to increase perceived value.   Q: But how do you use info products to increase the perceived value of a physical product?   A: By answering the questions the arise from the purchase of your product.   For Example:   What questions would you have if you bought a whole lot of healthy chocolate? (Besides, Am I kidding myself?”) ;-)   “How do you keep it?” “How much can I eat?” Different recipes   So what if you had a whole bunch of info products that explained that?   And guess what?   You don’t even have to make the info products yourself!   Instead, just interview people who love making fake chocolate recipes and have them create a video for you. It scratches their back and it scratches yours.   You could go interview a few health coaches, and have them add in their stuff... and BAM! $197 upsell that’s just boosted your average cart value like crazy!   You’ve created a high perceived value thing, (not as high as physical), but MASSIVE margins on the backend.   I do that a lot now for that exact reason.   ADDING MORE VALUEThe relationship between physical and digital is something that I'm always looking at when I'm creating offers.   There wasn't a lot of stuff I had to add to my 30 Days offer to make the perceived value go sky high after I added in my OfferMind Event. Why?   A physical event created HUGE perceived value! Waaay more than a 100 bucks the offer cost…   I didn't have to go add in all this other stuff…   Stack Stack Stack Stack Stack   ...just to boost the perceived value!   I could tell from the comments. People were like; “Oh my gosh, a two-day event!” I couldn't even read them fast enough.   In an hour there were 700 views that had been shared like all over the place. I was like, “Sweet, you all just marketed for me!” Dunso, right!   The product wasn’t made at the time, but it still increased the perceived value.   I'm ALWAYS looking to see what perceived value/ perceived relationships I can leverage.   SELLING WITH BULLET POINTS   Q: How much sales copy is on Amazon?   A: Like, NONE!   There are bullet points, but there's no sales letter on Amazon. Why? Because Perceived value is huge: “I'm gonna hold it. It’s gonna show up in the mail.”   Anticipation is a huge tool.   That two-day free shipping! It’s just short enough to increase anticipation and just long to bother you…. You know it's coming and that ten bucks for the jump rope starts to play with your mind...   You're like, “I can imagine myself. Mm-hmm, I'm Rocky, baby!”  And you totally mess with your identity.   You start justifying the purchase to yourself because of who you want to be…   “I'm Steve Larson. I've got a beard, baby. I'm tough!”   We all do that with every product we buy...   And your customer wants that experience when they buy your product too.   So when you look at the relationship between perceived value, price, and actually holding, tasting, and anticipation that it will show up.   Your customer wants the excitement.*GIVE IT TO THEM*   PRODUCT MARKETING JCPENNEY STYLE   JCPenney is one of my favorite case studies ever. It's one of my favorites from College.   The guy who created the Apple store and the genius lab was hired by JCPenney’s.   The Apple store was such a huge hit, and JCPenney’s were like, “Holy crap! What if our store experience was more like what Apple’s got going on?”   So they hired the Apple guy, and said: “Do the same thing over at JCPenney.”   The first thing the guy did was start gutting stuff. He made it look like an Apple store. It didn't look like a JCPenney anymore; it looked like an Apple store.   He said to the customers:     “Hey, you know mark our prices up and then give you coupons to knock it back down to the original price. You're a smart consumer, so we're not gonna do that.” Instead of $9.97, it's gonna be  $10 because we don't wanna insult your intelligence.” He stopped sending out the discount mailers.   Q: What happened?   A: A fourth of JCPenney's’ stock price plummeted the next quarter. Just, BOOM! SLAM!   Now let me ask you a question…   Q: What did the Apple guy kill?   A: The fun of buying. He got rid of it.   People want the anticipation. They wanna play with the perceived value.   We all do that stuff though...   I buy the products because it represents me... NOT because of the price. We ALL do it... whether or not we wanna admit it or not.   So look at the relationship between:   Price Value Anticipation Physical products Digital products   ... these are all mechanisms you can play with and leverage.   You need to ask: “How can I increase the potential average cart value of my funnel by increasing the perceived value?”   THE FIBERFIX FUNNEL FibreFix and The Harmon Brothers came to Russell and asked for help.   I was like, “No way! Dude that's awesome!” Russell goes: “Yeah, they said if we help them they'll help us, and maybe we can do a viral video.”   … and that’s how the viral video idea started and we got to do a cool project with FiberFix.   FiberFix was selling all of their stuff on Shopify…   So... here’s another question for you…   Q: What's the potential cart value of something on Shopify if it's $7.95?   A: Yeah, $7.95. You can't go up anymore. There's no upsells. Potential cart value is capped at $7.95. It's not a funnel, it's a website. That's why websites suck.   Shopify even says on their own blog that you need a sales funnel if you want to sell a lot. They even name ClickFunnels. It's crazy.   So we left FibreFix on Shopify, but we needed to increase the potential average cart value... A LOT!   So instead of just being able to buy one product…   We built a funnel where you could buy one, two, three, four, five or ten products from the get-go. We did a bump for $10. We did another upsell that was like $47. There was another $97 thing.   We increased the potential average cart value up to like $900!   AVERAGE CART VALUE & HUMAN NATURE   Q: Do you know what happens when the option to by more is is there?   A: Some people start to take it!   We started to look at the stats; money coming in, average cart value, cost to acquire, (all that stuff) to see the difference between what was coming in from:   Amazon Potential Cart Value = $7.95 Shopify Potential Cart Value = $7.95 ClickFunnels Shopify Potential Cart Value = $$$ *HUGE*   (It think it was a $25 product actually... anyway, the principle is the same.)   Shopify and Amazon couldn't go any higher, but on ClickFunnels the potential cart value was huge.   We looked at the numbers, and, yeah, most people bought 1 product, but there a percentage who bought more:   10% = bought 2 8% =   bought 3 5%  = bought a HUGE amount A few bought 100.   Wow!   Q: Do you have to pay for and purchase that customer again?   A: No… it’s Pure profit!   That's how you wreck the game!   The same principle is true when you create a core offer:   Adding physical products will drastically increase the perceived value… when you bundle in info products that are easy to fulfill on.   Info products are still huge value... it's just hard for people to imagine it.   That's why we'll put things into a CD... or a massive spread of CDs and product boxes… even if it's not coming packaged like that…. it people start to experience the product in their head.   CHANGE YOUR LIFE… THEN THE WORLD   When you pick which products you’re going to sell be methodical about what you choose... we're talking lifestyle business…   I'm NOT talking change the world business, yet.   I fully intend on changing the world. It took me a long time to say that comfortably. I want to change the world.   In the beginning, it was me figuring out something with enough zeros behind it... where the market expected to spend a lot of money.   So that I didn't have to stand up and say, “Hey, this is gonna be challenging for you to get this. You gotta spend $100 000 for this little supplement pill.”   Internally people are like: “What?”   I don't wanna have to battle that…(and neither should you).   So instead, chose markets where there’s capacity for:   High Perceived Value Massive Anticipation Easy Fulfilment Physical & Digital Bundles   … you’ll make your life easier and your wallet fatter!   BOOM!   Until Next Time - CAPITALIST PIG, BABY!   If you're just starting out you're probably studying a lot. That's good. You're probably geeking out on all the strategies, right? That's also good.   But the hardest part is figuring out what the market wants to buy and how you should sell it to them, right?   That's what I struggled with for a while until I learned the formula.   So I created a special Mastermind called an OfferMind to get you on track with the right offer, and more importantly the right sales script to get it off the ground and sell it.   Wanna come?   There are small groups on purpose, so I can answer your direct questions in person for two straight days.   You can hold your spot by going to OfferMind.com.   Again, that's OfferMind.com.

SFR 221: 2 Major Productivity Hacks...

Sales Funnel Radio

These are two of the ways I stay so productive. Warning: it's not exactly for the faint of heart, and is likely to get stressful. Yet, you'll get your crap done…   Today, I wanna share some NINJA productivity hacks that help me to get sooo much done.   Join me, as I draw back the curtain, and give you a sneak peek behind the scenes, at Larsen Productivity 10.   WARNING: These productivity hacks are NOT for the faint hearted!   No whiners and whingers beyond this point…   You’ve been warned ;-)   MY PRODUCTIVITY HACKS 101   Before I go to sleep, I ALWAYS know what I'm gonna do the next day. It's NOT always the specific details, but I have an idea of what I need to focus on in the morning…   So when I wake up, I don't have to answer the question of “WHAT?”   I can just get on with things.   If someone's like, “Stephen, I’ worried about becoming an entrepreneur because I don't know all the steps…”   I’m like *NEWS FLASH*  “Welcome to Freakin’ Entrepreneurship!”   Some days, you ’ll wake up, and you WON’T  know exactly how your day will go. There’s ALWAYS gonna a new challenge to meet or problem to overcome.   That’s entrepreneurship, my friend.   So, if you can get over that hurdle by knowing the CORE PROJECTS that you'll be working on before you even go to bed, that’s one of the BIGGEST productivity hacks I can give you.   I know it sounds super simple, but Tim Ferriss talks about doing this in the Four Hour Work Week.   You should never go to sleep without knowing WHAT you're gonna be doing the next day, at least for your major core projects.   GETTING THINGS DONE!   If you don't have a list, you should have a list of the BIG, major core projects you're trying to get done in the next month.   Let me show you mine…     *This* is exactly how I do it all.   It’s something I learned from Alex Charfen, and I've kind of adapted it...   I think through ALL of the top things that I wanna get done in the next three months.   It's not like a giant list, we're talking major projects.   Then each month, I think through each project, and ask; “What’s a huge thing I could get done?”   For Example:   Write a book.   Do a live event, i.e., OfferMind   So I start thinking through these massive, high-level things and start to make some lists   This is the way I plan everything and stay super productive.   Check this out…   SETTING TARGETS I start with some 90-Day Targets:   These are all things I could do in 90 days.   These are all things I will do in 90 days.   Then I think through:   What could I do in the next 30 days?   What I will do in the next 30 days?   Does that make sense? When I launched my new content machine for Secret MLM Hacks, I used a similar system:   Red = it's underway.   Yellow = it wasn't realistic to get done this month, we're pushing it to next month.   Green = it's done.   Date column = for a specific day that I’ll do it   Dollar Sign =  the things that are revenue generating and focus specifically on those.   I have a lot of stuff on here because I have teams... and I'm kind of a psycho anyway.   Then I go through and I mark each one of these things, where I am and who owns that task, and who's getting it done.   I don't see any issue showing you guys this stuff, this is how I run things.   I run it in three-month swings.   Every 90 Days, I redo my whole targets again.   I've been using this system for the last five months now, and it shows ALL the tasks that I’ll focus on.   That's why when people reach out to ask, “Stephen will you build a funnel for me?” If it’s NOT on my Target List, the answer is ALWAYS, NO!   That thing is The Bible to me.   I do NOT do ANYTHING that’s outside of my target list.   It works really well. I know exactly which team members are doing what. I don't have to sit back and be like, “Well, who….?”   Next, we’re going to create Trello boards that use the systems like we used to use at ClickFunnels.   It's a specific project management style; it's 90-day targets of what I could do, what I will, and then 30-day runs.     I think of them in 30 day runs: “What will I do in the next 30 days to hit that 90-day target... we're talking big major projects:   Launch first funnel   Write a book   Do an event   ... you know like, BIG things!   What do I need to do in 30 days to get close to that?   What could I do?   What will I do?   Who owns that task?   Is it revenue generating?   At the beginning of each day, I just update the list.   Each month, I just copy that board/ that sheet so that I can see where the projects left off, then roll them forward and delete the ones that don't matter.   I think through:   Can close up that project?   Is it done?   Why is it not done?   As far as getting crap done, this one of the biggest hacks I have. SET YOUR TARGETS Setting your own targets is simple. You can either create your own doc or just write them down on some paper or a whiteboard.   What you could do in 90 days.   What you will do in 90 days.   What you could do in 30 days to hit those 90-day goals   What you will do in 30 days to hit that 90-day goal.   Then it’s 100% up to you to decide what you need to focus on.   Remember, a huge long list of to-dos will do nothing but stress the crap out of you.   Here’s how I do it…   Before I go to bed each night,  I choose only three moves to make the next day.   I make three moves a day, and the ones I choose are ALWAYS the revenue generating ones.   Then I do the highest revenue generating move in the morning time ... cause I know my brain's most fresh.   If you’re NOT that way, whatever... find a way that works for you!   But for me:   I do the highest leveraged activities in the morning.   I do the things that are not nearly as revenue generating, but still important (where it doesn't take as much mental bandwidth) in the evening or in the afternoon.   I don't EVER do something that's NOT revenue generating   Just three moves a day…   Charfen calls it The Waterfall Method, and it’s worked extremely well for how I organize stuff.   I'm gonna use some of the tactics from James Friel too and create a board in Trello… because I have at least 11 agencies working for me now, and we're all remote…   So I'm NOT gonna send an Excel sheet out to everybody.   This is how I run it:   I only ever do revenue generating things.   I don't ever do something that's not revenue generating (and if I need to, I question it hard).   My role in this business is to market, I do NOT outsource that.   As far as project planning goes, this one of the ways I stay so productive.   … but that’s NOT really what I wanted to show you!   MY NINJA PRODUCTIVITY HACK!  So check this out...   Every Tuesday for me is content creation day. Which means Tuesday morning. I go do a whole bunch of interviews with people.   If you guys want me to get on your show, I’m totally willing to do that every Tuesday morning,  just go to interviewsteve.com which will forward you to my Calendly link to book a time   As soon as I'm done with interviews:   I turn on all my flood lights, bloop!   I put that paparazzi wall behind me (which was a grand!!!)   I turn on my camera   I shoot Sales Funnel Radio   I shoot Secret MLM Hacks Radio    This might NOT seem like it's related to productivity, but it totally is!   It's one of the reasons. In fact, it’s one of the biggest productivity hacks!   And I wanna share with you, why that is…   BREAKING BELIEFS   So, let’s hop on over to my Sales Funnel Radio Trello Board…   Here’s where I keep all my ideas for future podcast episodes. I drop them in Trello, and then I number them.   I say, “Hey, I'm gonna do this one cause it launches on this date. I'm gonna do this one cause it launches on this date.”   Then I stream them in an order that’s designed to breaking your beliefs before you even know I'm doing that.   What I'm doing is crafting content... that’ll launch certain things  extremely effectively.   I ALWAYS have my value ladders written out on my whiteboard, and so…   If a project does not match up with or launch something on the value ladder. I DON’T do it!   I craft the content that you’re hearing with a specific call to action to break and rebuild belief patterns.   So when you hear the call to action, you're like, “Oh crap, I should really go do that.” CREATING CONTENTOkay, check this out, this is how I run all of the episodes for Sales Funnel Radio … I want two episodes a week, so I try to film the content three weeks ahead.   We have a card in Trello for each episode.   There’s:   On deck.   In Progress, (there's usually only one in there).   Completed Episodes.   On Hold   We also have cards for:   The Assets, (the intro, the outro, the passwords, the pics ...all the crap that actually makes it run).   Future podcast episode ideas.   The archive list of all the episodes, which is super cool if we ever need to go back to it.   All of it links over to a Google Drive where we tussle it out.   THE SFR TEMPLATE   There’s a Sales Funnel Radio Episode Template that ensures each episode gets launched on time.   My role is to come in here and to fill this all out with.   Headline   Subheadline   The outro   When the content needs to be done by     As soon as I'm done, I tag the next person…   DANIELS CHECKLIST   Daniel goes in and makes all these mp3 things   He masters, mixes, and puts together the episode   The sound   Then he tags the next person…   MARLEY’S CHECKLIST   Marley goes in and makes the video   Chops out the 15-second versions for Instagram.   Teasers that we post on Facebook, (she does a ton of stuff)   Makes thumbnails   Puts in an SEO friendly version of the transcription for YouTube, (we rank like crazy... we're now over at one hundred thousand minutes watched every single month on that channel alone!)   All the keywords   Uploads different versions   Then the episode card gets passed off to the next person… HELEN’S CHECKLIST   Helen edits the transcriptions for iTunes   Writes an amazing blog (which is awesome)   Writes the meta descriptions   Then she passes the card to the next person… JULIA’S CHECKLIST   Julia takes the blog and puts it into WordPress and makes it visually awesome   Adds the SEO stuff   Writes a teaser email, (all those emails that you guys are starting to see coming out, that's what Julia does.)   Every time someone finishes an asset they go and re-upload it back to that Google Drive folder. There's a different folder for each episode.   Next...     COULTON’S CHECKLIST   Coulton goes in and blasts out all the stuff to probably 15 different platforms (iTunes... and tons of platforms. It's really cool)   Next person comes in…   EMELY’S CHECKLIST   Emely posts it in Facebook groups   Posts to Instagram Blasts a chatbot out there   Puts it on Instagram TV   Next, it goes to a Pinterest person and an ads agency….   There's a lot to it, and it’s really powerful and really really potent.   It works very very well!   The content machine I've built is Freakin’ Big. It costs 20 -30 grand a month, EVERY MONTH just to run it!   You don't have to start out that big, I certainly didn't. I started with a five dollar a month Libsyn account.   Now you’re probably wondering two things:   #1:  “Stephen, how long does it take you to set all that up?”   My answer is, Just do it! Who cares about the timeline...   #2: “What has this got to do with a productivity hack?”   Let me explain…   MY FAST ACTION HACK So productivity hack, here we go…   If I wait for the funnel to be done BEFORE I launch it and start talking about it, I will NOT get it done very quickly.   The first I experienced this hack, I was sitting across from Russell in our first office. He didn't tell me what he was doing. He grabbed his phone and he went live on Facebook:   “What's up, everybody? We've got this cool thing going on... (you can hear his voice, right!)...   We've got this cool thing going on, and it's going to launch today at two o'clock! Oh, my gosh, I'm so excited about it. Woo!”   Then he turned around, and said, “Dude, we've got this thing that's gonna be launching at two o'clock today!”   I was like, “Yeah, I know. I just heard you tell everybody.”   He's like, “Dude, you gotta go build it!”   And… that's the way we launched everything!   HOW TO GET CRAP DONE   You’ll get crap done if you just start telling people about it... and then build it based on the reactions that you see them giving.   That's how I launch pretty much everything.   If I sit back and I'm like, “Well, it's not quite done yet, so I'm not gonna start telling people about it...” *Wrong Move*   A Real Marketer would NOT wanna do that!   You want as much noise as possible... so start making noise, and build it as you need to. MY 3 HOUR FUNNEL When I launched my latest OfferMind Funnel, I recorded a podcast talking about the HUGE list of the speakers that it’d be cool to have at my next event   Dana Derricks   Mark Joyner   Jay Abraham   Russell Brunson   Peng Joon   Todd Brown   Frank Kern   Dean Graziosi   A lot of these guys I could actually get a hold of and pull out! Like, how cool would it be to have them at OfferMind.   I'm not promising, but I'm gonna start reaching out and running Dream 100 Campaigns to these guys.   (They'd also be great ones to promote my book when it comes out.)   So I'm crafting out, and timing the launch of the funnel with the launch of content that supports what I’m doing...   Why wouldn’t I teach you guys how I launched my first OfferMind... and why my very first event went so well.   You don't see a lot of other events running that hard that awesome from round one... how did I do it?   So I created the content teaching you how I did created my first event.   What better of an outro to have to that episode, than “Hey, go to offermind.com…”   However, 3-hours before that podcast was launched… there was NO FUNNEL to go with the outro. I had 3-hours to build an entire funnel.     I had the bare bones already there, and I've built a lot of funnels... I'm NOT telling you guys to make it that tight, but start telling people WHAT you're doing.   Let them follow the journey. Give them something to follow!   That's what I'm doing!   All my episodes break and rebuild belief patterns…   After you learn exactly how I launched my first event so successfully, the call to action is gonna say, “Hey, why don't you go to OfferMind.com and get your ticket.”...   BUT THE FUNNEL WASN’T BUILT BEFORE I TOLD EVERYONE ABOUT IT!   The Ultimate Productivity Hack is to just launch... and build it before everyone shows up.   Start telling people, and then go build once you see their reactions to it.   The worse thing ever is to build something completely, then go tell people about it,  and they're like, “Meh....”   Does that make sense?   I've got these cool ways to get crap done... like the Trello board I showed you earlier...   BUT….   My productivity is tied to my content machine.   I don't think people understand that.   It’s how I'm able to just get crap done without stressing over stuff or overthinking things.   PRODUCTIVITY HACKS & GETTING THINGS DONE   These are the ways I stay productive:   I've got a cool project management method   I tell people about my stuff as I'm doing it, so I've got no choice but to launch.   I know it sounds intense...   People are like, “You're Crazy!”  Yeah, okay... whatever, but it works!  It’s how I get A LOT of crap done.   BOOM!

So I know there are people out there in the world like me who hate the “B” word… Budget. I’ve tried using budgets more than once but I would always end doing a budget for 2-3 months back and would eventually go back to my bad money habits. I ALWAYS felt like I was on a restricted money diet. Budgets just didn’t work for your girl. After figuring out budgets didn’t work for me, I developed my own unique strategies that I’ve personally found more effective while still allowing me to work towards financial freedom. This is one of the greatest skills I've ever learned. An incredible teacher taught this to me in college, and I taught everyone else at OfferMind...   One of the secret weapons I have in my arsenal of marketing skills (and life in general) is design thinking   Design thinking is one of the reasons why I'm able to step into the darkness without seeing the whole path in front of me.   I was taught design thinking when I was in college, and it’s one of the MOST valuable things I've ever been taught in my life.   When I shared the design thinking process at OfferMind, I got some amazing responses.   You can watch the whole process here, but if you’d rather keep reading, then carry on… WHY DESIGN THINKING?   The process was invented by a company called IDEO. If you don't know who IDEO are, they’re the company who invented the mouse for Steve Jobs’ first version of the personal computer.   IDEO are the reason why your toothbrush is shaped the way it is. In fact, many of the things we use daily have actually been designed by IDEO.   IDEO has mastered the process of creativity. They’ve manufactured process that produces innovation almost on demand. You’re gonna have to get your playful zone on to make the most of what I’m about to share with you, but just know that if you're boring as a person, your offers will be too.   I'm straight up telling you. If you suck to be around, no one's gonna wanna be in your tribe. If you have a Debbie Downer kind of mentality you're gonna be terrible at this process.   Those who are creative are typically more playful individuals.   It’s time to get back into your kindergarten brain and the enter the fun zone of your noggin if you want to get the MOST out of this process…   Almost everything I've created has been produced following this design thinking process.   When I was in college, I had a FANTASTIC professor who became one of my first ‘one on one’ mentors. He was the CMO of Denny's and Pizza Hut. He invented stuffed crust pizza. Yep, he's the man.   I used to hang out in his office after classes and just fire questions at him.   MY FAVORITE SEMESTER   There was one semester where our entire focus was to launch a business from scratch and make as much money as we could on our own.   Instead of being like, “Hey, do this and this and this and this…” they literally just threw us out the back door and said, “Build the parachute!” We were like, “Oh, Crap!”   We were together in different teams of about 15 and took us on a retreat to bond and brainstorm.   I got put in the food business. I was like, “Oh my gosh, I hate cooking.”   Each team spent several days up in the mountains talking about ideas, and trying to decide:   What should we sell?   Who do we need to serve?   What should we put together?   What would they want?   I don't know if you noticed, but I'm a little bit loud, and so I got voted CEO of the company. I was like, “Great…”   We  decided to sell empanadas (I didn’t even know what they were at the time)   We had one class each day, and the rest of the time we were just supposed to make money.   THE TEACHER WENT CRAZY...   One day we walked into class to find all the tables piled with toys. There were Lincoln Logs, Lego, bouncy balls, and Play Dough all over the place. I mean literally, just tons of toys all over the table...   We just stood there look at the just looking the teacher standing there with a whiteboard, a squirt gun, and all this random crap all over the room, and thought, “What the heck is going on? He's lost his marbles, right?”   Then teacher looks at us and says: “I'm gonna teach you how to think.”   He said, “I want you to brainstorm different ideas. Let's talk about what you're gonna call your company?” Then he sat down, and kinda hid away at the back of the room.   One by one each of us got up and started writing down our ideas on the whiteboard...   We came up with all these crazy names and it was really funny. Someone would stand up and write something on the board, and we'd be like, “Oh yeah, that’s a good idea.”   Then one time, after someone had written an idea on the board, a student in the corner of the room made a kinda disapproving sigh...     Quick as a flash, the teacher jumps up takes out a squirt bottle, shouts, "BAD KITTY!"   ...and started shooting the student in the face with water.   We're like, “Who is this guy? Are you serious?”  We were all afraid to “He's become unhinged, man!”   But we kept going, and eventually, we noticed that every time someone had any negative reaction to an idea, he would shoot them in the face with water and yell, “BAD KITTY!” HOW TO THINK   RULE #1: You cannot be creative and serious at the same time. Half the reason I mess about is that I'm trying to stay in the creative zone.   If you’re playful it’s way easier to be more creative. Most ideas aren’t gonna come to somebody who’s NOT playful.   If you're kind of a stiff,  this is not gonna be that effective. I'm just telling you, straight up. Some Papa Larsen love coming out here..   If you're boring your offer will be too   Just telling you... Okay?   Being an attractive character is a learnable trait, so that's the saving grace. RULE #2: Get moving  - I have a freaking trampoline and a balance board and I try to stay physically moving and active.   I guarantee that your change the world ideas are NOT gonna happen while you're sitting behind a desk. Get up!   When I need some sweet ideas. I put headphones on and jump on my the trampoline. or use my balance board with some Vitamin C in my veins. Then it’s like, *DING* “That would be sick. Yeah, that would be cool.” And then I go and test it.   RULE #3: You don’t have a lot of creative power on your own. It’s always amplified by doing it with one other person at least. Another time we walked into class and there was construction paper, scissors, pens, Crayola crayons, popsicle sticks, and glue all over the place...   We had to come up with an idea and then make a prototype of it. Then we had to walk to another human being and hand it to them... and if we looked at the prototype instead of the other person: “BAD KITTY!” MY PRODUCTS SUCK!   When you hand off your prototype to somebody you need to look into their eyes, so whatever reaction they have you can ask:     Why did you do that?     You think it’s crappy! Tell me why?”   Then you go back to the drawing board and make another prototype and based on that feedback, and rinse and repeat!go put it in front of more people.   Stop falling in love with your product. Hand it off to somebody and just get a reaction.   In only three weeks, our Empanada business ended up doing $3000 a week selling to poor college students. They created the entire business with us.   We’d go in with an idea, watch the reaction and say, “Why’d you do that?” Give me a reason.”  We’d deep dive until we started getting good at asking questions that caused amazing feedback.   Then we'd go back to the drawing board, and go through the same cycle again and again...   My offer creation is the exact same process. If you think I've developed these cool formulas that make my products great from the get-go. *WRONG*   I plan on failing at the gates. My product is gonna suck. ITERATION STATION   Get your prototype out of the gate as fast as you can, show it to people and watch there response. ASK QUESTIONS. Stop harboring your product like it's your baby.   It was the exact same with the Secrets Masterclass. When Secrets Masterclass was created, I went through and created different pieces and put it out base on my perceptions. Then I start getting in the weeds with the customer.   Everything in the bonus section in the bottom bonus section in Secrets Masterclass was created post-launch to fill the holes.   I call this Iteration Station, baby, woo!   When I enter Iteration Station it means that I'm in a test phase. It’s a no judgment phase. Stephen R Covey says:     This is huge! It’s a big piece of the puzzle. PREPARE TO FAIL When it comes to your core offer and offer creation itself, you’ve got to be willing to fail a ton of times as the market guides you, it's NOT gonna happen otherwise.   I've noticed that people’s identity gets hung up with:   What happens if I launch and I fail?   What happens here…?   It's all based on fears that are completely made up and haven't even happened yet.   You need to keep Iterating. Iteration is part of the process of innovation.   Design Thinking 101   This is the design thinking process as systematized by IDEO: STEP #1:  Empathize.   “What are the things that you need to understand about the red ocean before you can actually make it blue?”   You’re looking for signs to make sure that it’s even a good ocean to go into? Should you run? Should you go the other way?   You’re trying to empathize with the customer. You need to feel what they feel.   “Oh man, you're using that red ocean vehicle, I'm so sorry for you. That ocean sucks.”   They're like, “I know, I've been using this product and it's garbage.” Then you ask: “Why?”   Once you have the answers you can go in and start to design something awesome.   STEP #2: Define.   Next, you need to take all that data to fill in the gaps and design the framework. Once the framework is filled out, this next piece is super fun…   THE DESIGN CYCLESTEP #3: Ideate   STEP #4: Prototype   STEP #5: Test   These three are stages that you cycle through forever. Don't fall in love with the product.   Ideate = You have an idea of what offer you’re gonna produce.   Prototype  = You get ready for a test launch.   Their opinion doesn't matter, their wallet’s does.   Test = You actually try to sell your prototype to a potential customer. You don’t ask, “Hey, do you like it?” Then you ask, “Oh, what didn't you like about that?”   I've noticed that after three or four iterations... if you really do the process, you’ll have an offer that out values everything. This is the BIG process laid out: Empathize - First understand.   Data - Gather and start plugging it in.   Ideate - Come up with ideas   Prototype - Make a beta version... it's cool to call it beta, that's a good way to save pride if you want: “Oh yeah, it's in beta. I hate it too”  You're like, “Crap, it's supposed to be my thing.”   Test - Put it in front of customers; that's the last part.   You're going: Ideate, prototype, test, over and over again.   Remember it's NOT about being a creative genius, it's about being a detective.   If can walk in front of somebody and ask, “Tell me what you like or don't like? If it sucks or if it's amazing?”  If you look in their eyes... Man, you guys are gonna be great funnel builders. You're gonna make a lot of money.   Too many of you are like, “Oh it's my baby, I don't wanna put my product out there.” Yeah, that's why you're making money. You have to be prepared to fail.   Eventually, the market will guide you into discovering the core offer. HOW RUSSELL BUILDS FUNNELSWhen I built funnels with Russell, we fully expected that it wasn’t gonna be that amazing during round one.   Lots of funnels failed straight out of the gate.   If you saw the Experts Secrets book launch, we started that funnel two days before the launch. Woo! That was extremely stressful. I don't think I've had that much caffeine in such a short amount of time.   The Harmon brothers had this cabin where Russell, John, I and a few others went to help write the first script for the viral video. We were hanging out with these writers, and they're using this exact same process.   They’d come up to us and say, “We've got a script for you.” They'd read it out to us and we’d give feedback about any holes, and then they'd leave for four hours. Then they'd come back and read it again. Back forth, back forth, back forth, back forth.   This is the process of innovation.   During the Expert Secrets launch, we were still in the cabin. The writers were iterating, and so were we.   We looked at the stats for Expert Secrets Launch and saw that, for some reason, upsell number two, OT02 wasn’t working well.   So in the middle of the launch, at 1 AM (we tried to wait until there weren’t many people awake) ...Jamie Smith and I were busy changing the live funnel with all this traffic hitting it.   Then BOOM! One iteration hit and it brought the average cart value up a whole bunch.   You gotta understand that this is what Russell's doing with his team at ClickFunnels. We create all our stuff with the total expectation of failure.   You use the customer to help you innovate.   BAD KITTY COMES TO OFFERMIND   During OfferMInd , I used the same process I learned at college to teach design thinking.   STAGE #1: I split people into teams and gave them twenty minutes to design a prototype. These are some of the responses I got:   - Teamwork work helps.   - Craziness is creativity.   - Ask questions, lots of them.   It's about asking tons of questions back and forth, but using the market to do to help frees the Entrepreneur’s mental shelf space and give you room to think.   This is the process that actually causes creativity.   STAGE #2:  Hand the prototype to a person in another team while looking into their eyes to gauge feedback. DO NOT, for the love of it, fall in love with your prototype.   Ask questions, and have someone write down everything. If they...   Hate this   Love that   ...write those things down. This is the best market research you'll ever do in your life, it's amazing.   Did anyone feel how easy that was to gather information that way? Audience Member: It's amazing how people see something completely opposite of what we thought.  Like, “Whoa, we saw this as good. No that's bad cause of this.”   Steve: Isn't that crazy? It speeds up how cool something is, like how fast you can actually make it. Cool, thanks so much.   Audience Member: One thing that I thought was really great was when we showed our prototype to people, they’d say something different about it because they thought it was something else and really that helped us improve it more.   Steve: And you only did this for freaking 20 minutes, can you imagine if you actually did it? You know what I'm saying? With the actual product? It's very fast to make cool stuff.   Audience Member - Huge lesson for me. Our group flew right to prototype and test. we spent zero time getting data. So when we went to different people there were questions we didn't know. “Well, are you gonna do this? are you gonna provide this for me?   I was like I don't know, we didn't, we talked about where the steps should go. We didn't talk about the actual meat of what we're gonna do... we just talked about how pretty the cover was.   Stephen - Which is what happens for most entrepreneurs. they are like, “Hey I'm gonna go make this sweet thing, it's gonna be really awesome, it's amazing, why is it awesome? Because it's mine.” I don't know, right? You just gotta get it out the door. Launch.     Audience Member - Share all your craziest ideas with people because you might not be that crazy.   Steve: Yeah, absolutely.   Audience Member - We sold multiple products.     Audience Member - A lot of overwhelm at first. And then presenting it, in even more overwhelm and fear. Because I don't think we did a very good job honestly, but then getting feedback I was surprised at how much feedback people are willing to give us openly.   They'd be like “Hey, this is kind of like, this is what I see and this is good and this is bad.”   The one thing that Alex talks about is clarity getting you out of overwhelm.   And so as soon as we got some feedback from some people,I was like “Oh.” And then we wondered, “Is there gonna be a round two? Do we get to go play with Play Dough again and redo it? Cause we could totally nail it next time.” Steve: Isn't that the fun part--   Audience Member - So having multiple people give us feedback, the creativity took a minute, it didn’t feel like we had to spark it at first, but when we brought in people, that's when the spark happened. I don't have any doubt that we would light a fire and then take off, after multiple revisions. PLAYING THE GAME   Can you see how this game starts to get played? So, just to recap real fast. What we're doing is :   Gathering data from the red ocean, getting kind of an idea of something that would be awesome.   Empathizing, understanding the who and who we want to be selling to. Who we want our customer to be.   Prototype, coming up with ideas, grabbing all that data.   Launching,  the expectation to fail takes all the pressure off the mind for the entrepreneur. You actually can go back to the creative zone when you use this process.   When people try to be the only creative one:  “I'm gonna be making it out of my own mind.”  Funny enough, they're the ones that get landlocked. Ain't that funny? It's like totally opposite of what you expect. This is one of my offers in January when I launched it, by April it had changed dramatically because of this exact same process.     I make sure that I'm not falling in love with my offer. It's broken. It will always be broken. There will always be improvements. It will never be perfect and that’s good.   ...because it means that I DON’T emotionally attach to my product, so  then it’s easy to hand it off to other people and ask: “What would you change?”   I would launch back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth in the middle of the value ladder.       Do you see the star right there in that value ladder? I ALWAYS launch in the middle of the value ladder.  At the mid-price points... that's how I get it off the ground.   Boom! If you're just starting out you're probably studying a lot. That's good. You're probably geeking out on all the strategies also, right? That's also good.   But the hardest part is figuring out what the market wants to buy and how you should sell it to them, right? That's what I struggled with for a while until I learned the formula.   So I created a special Mastermind called an OfferMind to get you on track with the right offer, and more importantly the right sales script to get it off the ground and sell it.     Wanna come?   There are small groups on purpose so I can are answer your direct questions in person for two straight days. How to Get Paid What You’re Worth | Coffee is for Closers One thing that I ALWAYS maintain is that it’s vital to own your value and charge what you’re worth. But that often leads to another question: what is VALUE, anyway? How do you know if you’re “good enough” as you are, or if “adding value” just means creating more extraneous STUFF? It’s a bit of a conundrum. We talk about bringing more value, but nobody really defines “value” in a way that is concise, understandable, and actionable. That’s where my friend, colleague, Master Sales Strategist Shameca Tankerson comes in. Shameca joined us this week for a special edition of Coffee Is For Closers, and it was one of the most innovative episodes to date! Shameca shared with us some revolutionary ideas about knowing your TRUE value, charging your worth, and raising your rates WITHOUT an apology needed. SHOOTING DEVELOPMENT STAPLES: First and foremost, every player is different. There is no ‘cookie cutter’ mold to create a great shooter. Ideally I would want everyone looking like Klay Thompson, but everyone’s different (body types, mindset, personality, what motivates them, mental toughness, spirituality, everything)  That being said, I have helped to develop many high level NBA shooters and through the process have learned what I deem as some staples to success.  There is much more in depth that I would love to talk about in person and share examples of players that I have worked with.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALWAYS POSITIVE –  My coaching philosophy with players is always positive. Shooting is 90% mental and if a player has a negative mindset, they will never be a great shooter.  Instilling confidence into a player goes a long long ways on.  If they believe they can be a great shooter, then they can. If they don’t believe it and don’t have confidence in themselves, then the player will never become great.  No player is beyond the point of ‘fixing their shot.’   ALWAYS A SERVANT – I will go to great lengths to let the player that I am working with them that I am a servant to them. I will humble myself to them, be there for anything they need (on court or off court) show them that 100% of my time, effort, energy is going into them and they are the most important person on the face of the planet to me. I am a servant to them, that’s ALWAYS the mindset for me.   VICTORY GOES TO THE VULNERABLE-  My joy and success comes from their success. I never take any credit and let them know that it’s all them – no matter what type of leaner they are or their IQ to retain knowledge and muscle memory development – I ALWAYS let them know they are GREAT in these fields.  Here is an example of why: The Thomas Edison Story- Thomas Edison’s mother lied about the contents of a letter from her son’s school informing her that the school had expelled him for “mental deficiencies.” Instead, she told the boy the letter said he was a genius who would be better off being homeschooled -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     P.A.C.E (The acronym I use)   P-  Personality -  This is the first stage where I get to know the player very well – both on court and off court. This is where I figure out what type of personality do they have. I have done in the past personality tests (are they motivated by goals and scores, are they motivated intellectually, are they motivated by the dependence of others on them, etc) I have worked with enough players that I am able to figure out what type of personality they have relatively soon in the relationship and what makes them tick.  This is also where I build the relationship. That's the key word RELATIONSHIP. If they don’t trust me then they won’t listen to me. The most important aspect of helping a player develop is trust which is built on the relationship. Once this is developed, which is a gift from the Lord which I am able to do with players at a high level and become a ‘mentor’ figure to them – now they will be able to develop on court.   A – Assess -  Assessment stage is where I break down their shot (both with them personally and of course in depth by myself) When I first come to them I would have already watched every situation of their shot on film – every movement, every different type of shot they could have attempted, know their analytical numbers (are they better catch and shoot vs. off the dribble, their favorite spots on the floor, where they get most of their game shots from, contested vs. uncontested percentages, their best shooting games of all time (in the zone games, very key to know) I would know everything going into the assessment stage and would know 95% before we step on court together of what needs to be done to implement for their development.  Letting them know I have done all of this ‘homework’ on them will also show how much I care for them and how much of a servant I am to them. This goes a long ways with players and right along with the mantra of 100% time, effort, energy given to them. First and foremost when I am on court with the player for the first time ask them what they think they need to improve upon. I already know, but I want to see what is going their mind and I want to make them feel certain that it’s ‘our plan’ not just my plan for them but ‘our plan’ We are a team, so important for the player to have the comfort knowing that we are going through this together. I will also in this stage ‘slow motion’ film their shot – this is very effective of course with being able to break down every aspect, every motion, everything in their shot. Then I will watch it with them and ask them what they are seeing.  If I just tell and tell and tell then they aren’t processing or able to see where their adjustments are needed to be made.  Now we are on the same page going forward and the player is excited about the process, trusts I am there for them 100% through it together, that I am their servant, and now the growth is able to happen.     C- Correct -  The correction stage is where we actually implement what needs to be adjusted in the player’s shot. I never throw the ‘entire kitchen sink’ at the player – that is overload and they will never be able digest all at the same time. Based on what I have learned through their personality and what type of learning capacity they have, I am able to craft a plan of how quickly and how much I give them at a certain time.  For example, let’s say player X has three adjustments that needs to be made to become the best shooting from a mechanical standpoint that they can be.  I would first let them know how good of shooter they are right now, let them know they are a ‘natural’ shooter (even if they aren’t) meaning that they have gifts, the capacity to be a GREAT shooter. This is the positive mindset and Thomas Edison belief story. I will also let them know they only need to make small adjustment to be great, even if it is a complete breakdown of their entire shot and a rebuild, I will never let them know that. That is too daunting for a player to process.  The key to tell them is ‘You are a very good shooter right now; you are at this level for a reason. You have a natural shooting stroke, and really it only comes down to a few small adjustments that I know you can make and you will not only be a good shooter but you will be one of the best in the League.  I have helped develop the shots of some of the best shooters in the NBA over the past 10 years (this is said to give myself credibility while being humble and breeding confidence into them and increasing their belief in the process we are going to go through together) Now both the player and myself are on the same page and know exactly what needs to be corrected and are both 100% in to do so.     E- Execution-  Now that we have the plan in place, we are going to execute the plan. I will have drawn up a full long term plan with milestones throughout the process. I will put those milestones deeper in the process to where I believe they will actually hit them. (This done on purpose so that each milestone will be reached before the plan states – increasing confidence that the player is a great learner and has a high IQ capacity to learn) I will always keep the plan flexible of course depending on how they are doing in the process. No matter what the player will always always feel as if they are growing. As discussed in the Correction phase we will take each stage in a step by step process. For example, if a player’s corrections that need to be made are ‘releasing earlier in their shot’ and ‘holding their follow through while sticking their landing on balance’ we will first address the releasing earlier in the shot issue.  What I have found to be very effective is have the players say out loud a one word ‘cue’ to remember what their adjustment is. In this case I would have the player say ‘early’ out loud, reminding themselves each time they are going to release the ball in their shooting motion earlier. I will also let them know what they are looking for to determine if the shot is a great shot. I let them know we aren’t determining success by makes and misses, we are determining success by the perfect repetitions.  Contrary to popular belief- practice does not make perfect, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.  This is why I believe everyone can become a great shooter, no matter what stage of their career they are in. It all comes down to building up the myelin in the brain (the neuroreceptors responsible for building muscle memory) Also, I will of course let the player know why this adjustment is being made (earlier release= increased arc on the players shot and late game percentage improvement due to not depending on the level of their jump on their jump shot being the exact same as it was in the first quarter now with fatigued legs in the fourth quarter)  We will work on only this adjustment until it becomes natural for them – both in their personal opinion and my assessment measurements. Now it’s time to move on to the next adjustment. As you can see the execution is all about a step by step process, going through the process as a team/partnership, and continually and constantly breeding confidence into the player.   There is much more that goes into each step in the acronym PACE. (also the underlying importance of this mindset is that playing with PACE you are always under control. That’s the belief and mindset I want ever player to have – playing with PACE. Learning and developing with PACE)   I could go on for hours on end and much more in depth on each point and other important factors that go into shooting development. As well as many many examples that I have done with players in the past, what has worked for some players and not for others, and much more. Overall I know that I’m always growing and learning and I never know it all. It’s all about continued growth and continued desire to learn.

My guest today is Lisa Jaspers, a passionate social entrepreneur that inspires me so much! She ditched her secure job at one of the worlds biggest charity organizations to follow her heart and start her own ethical brand, FOLKDAYS. FOLKDAYS is a Berlin-based fashion label that empowers artisans from some of the remotest corners in the world to make a living through their handmade crafts. Each time I walk into the store here in Kreuzberg, it’s like going on a little journey to far away lands and cultures. It’s spreading a very positive, colorful, dreamy vibe and takes me to places like Turkey, Cambodia, Nepal, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt, Palestine, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru - in total there are 26 artisans from 18 countries involved. Every team member of FOLKDAYS is happy to share the unique stories behind each piece. Lisa even knows all artisans in person, as she travels out to those hidden corners, searching for the most talented craftspeople - and gives them a reason to believe into themselves and their incredible talent. Apart from sharing the story of how this beautiful label was born and the “what, “how” & of course, especially the “why” behind FOLKDAYS, we also touched into some very personal topics. You'll learn about: How to get noticed as a social brand in an overloaded market like fashion What it means to be a female entrepreneur - and why we need more of them Why we need to learn to believe in ourselves & our skills (no matter if in Bangladesh or Europe) Stories of travelling on the surface vs. travelling deep What moved Lisa to the point where she wanted to stop travelling Why you’ll never be a good entrepreneur if you’re a perfectionist What’s so important about surrounding yourself with the right people Why we are often our own worst enemy & How to keep up your energy as a small business owner The importance of visual communication and storytelling for green brands What are the next steps in the FOLKDAYS story The advantages - and the challenges - of starting a sustainable brand in Berlin What makes Berlin “Berlin” & the effects of living in peaceful chaos You see, there’s a whole lot to get out of this! I had a blast talking to this inspiring woman and left the store full of motivation and new ideas - and I’m pretty sure you’ll feel the same. Today I look at tools available for podcasters to help them produce a better show. Podcast Interview Wizard and Who is Jim Edwards Jim Edwards is a guy I've known online for years. I loved his "I Gotta Tell you" email list. We are talking back in the day when I was teaching people how to make websites with Microsoft Front page, and making videos with camcorder. I bought one of Jim's products he made with Mike Stewart and I thought they delivered value. I had bought some stuff from other "Internet Marketers" at the time, and thought this was better than some. I've always liked Jim's style as he takes his topic seriously, but always dishes it with a good helping of sarcasm. In a nutshell, Jim has been writing ebooks and making products for over 20+ years.  According to his bio: Jim Edwards, founder of Guaranteed Response Marketing, LLC, is an Internet expert, marketing entrepreneur, newspaper columnist, author, motivational speaker and elite mentor and coach.Having gained personal and financial freedom, he shares his proven strategies with self-motivated, hard-working people to help them attain personal and financial independence. He has written and published dozens of ebooks, several print books and hundreds of articles. Through his company, Jim has produced some 40 informational products on DVD and many more available in the latest electronic formats downloadable from the Internet. Jim produces and hosts webinars on a weekly basis and has been a frequent guest speaker at numerous international Internet marketing seminars. What is the podcast interview wizard? It's a software that works on mac or PC that walks you through planning your interview. It does this by having you figure out what you want to talk about before the interview. It walks you through 16 questions .These questions are then used in  a series of tools used by the software. These include: Email templates to help get the interview Email messages to setup and remind the guest for the interview. Later you can use it to create an email that you can send to the guest post interview as well. Email templates for Referrals Email Templates to say Thank You Quick or Full Show Templates (complete with intro / outro ext and questions) Audience Handouts - A worksheet for people to fill out as they listen to your episode. Show Bullets - Custom Sales Copy for Each Interview There are 12 different types of interview types It will generate show notes for your episode It will generate multiple Titles for your show and let you pick the best one. Build Ads to help promote the show on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Putting it Through It's Paces So I took the interview from last week and added the information about my guest Danny Peña to see if I had used the software last week would the interview had been different. The closest interview style would be the "How the Expert Got Started" style.  Now last week's show was different. I already knew the answers to the questions. I knew Danny's story and I wanted to walk him through the parts that focused on building his audience. Using the PIW I did some interesting questions that I could've asked but didn't: What roadblocks did you face early on and how did you overcome them? Did you have any early mentors or did you have to figure it all out on your own? If you had to start all over again with audience growth in today's world, with today's tools, time constraints and other factors, what would you do:a. Differently?b. More of?c. Less of?d. Faster?e. Not at all? Under the "Myths and Misconceptions" style of interview I saw "Where are the big opportunities in audience growth that many podcasters might be missing?" or "What are the best audience growth tools every podcaster needs to use and know about?" Brainstorming By Yourself Now I realize that the software is meant for you to use ONE style of interview, but if you're looking to come up with good questions, I can see where spitting out multiple versions of the interview might help you spotlight questions that really spur other questions that aren't in the software. Now I realize the "Show notes" and other templates are meant to come from one template not multiple ones. So if you mix and match questions, you are somewhat shooting yourself in the foot, and will have to mix and match to make the additional messages. On the other hand if one style of questions gives you everything you need, you are golden. In watching a webinar for the software they made a great point. In some cases (for the person who hates to write) it's easier to edit than create. Going Down the List Of Tools Podcast show notes - Yes I could see using this in many places (G+, Facebook) Email announce - Yes, this could be cool and it even says to copy and paste your bullet points iTunes Episode Descriptions  - YES this gave me 7 different descriptions and slew of titles Show Title Templates - Yes. Again, a great way to brainstorm with yourself. Ads - Very Similar to Titles and Descriptions - Useful again. Email templates - ALL of the templates are great starting points. I ALWAYS would recommend personalizing these but they are focused and to the point. A good starting point. Beginners Guide Interview Style _ At first this one was "meh" what is the first thing, second thing, but then it had this question, "What is the perfect mindset for a beginner podcaster at this point that would virtually guarantee their success?" and I went, "That's a good question." Book Review Non-Fiction - Kind of a who, what, why, when and where. Nothing earth shattering, but useful for the absolutely newbie. Critical Skills Interview - This is a cool template cause it has built in follow up questions. Yes its what's the first, second, third, but it also has you dig deeper. Thumbs up. Faq - Probably my favorite style. Lots of good questions Getting Started - A good set of questions. It does what it says it would do (there is a focus here) Mistakes Style interview - I do plan on having Gordon Firemark ( a Lawyer) on the show eventually, and this would be a good template for Gordon Myths and Misunderstandings - Here again, at first glance this seems too simple, but it has good follow up questions. New Idea Interview - Here again, it would work for that type of interview, but this one isn't my typical interview so it didn't hit me as hard. New Products - Again kind of the who, what, why, When, and how, but more to it. Great for beginners. Rules of the Road - Probably the worst of all the template it was the same set of questions, but it fits the subject. What is rule 1, rule 2, etc. State of union - I could see using these. I can see this tool helping you to never say "Oh how could I have forgotten to ask.." Ste by Step Roadmap - This is a distant cousin of the Rules of the Road. Not my favorite. Tips and Tricks - Here again pretty basic, and not earth shattering. I do like on some of these that kind of have repeat questions, there are additional questions at the bottom of the list. How Much Does it Cost? Right now as I write this Podcast Interview Wizard is $197 at www.podcastinterviewwizard.com/sop (and yes that is an affiliate link). In addition to the software you get something called the Podcast interview wizard Blueprint which just walks you through using the software. There is some additional training on conducting interviews and I've only watched one of the videos, but was pleasantly surprised at how in depth Jim Edwards gets in this. While anything more than a cup of coffee sound too expensive for software, there are people charging $85 per episode to write your show notes. So the software would pay for iteself with three episodes. Key Tips On How I'm Going to Use This Make sure your podcast is a conversation and an not an interrogation. Just because you have your next question ready, don't forget to listen, listen, listen, because the best question to ask MAY NOT BE ON THE PAGE. Use these questions as a game plan, but be ready to call an audible. I've been interviewed where I'm pretty sure the host isn't paying attention to what I'm saying because they have their 7 questions, and they are just waiting for me to be quiet so they can ask the next questions. DON'T DO THAT! Don't forget to be you. You can use this tool to help you come up with an angle to help you QUICKLY get to the meat of the interview that is going to connect with your audience. There are going to be things that won't fit into a template, and that's where YOU come into play. This software doesn't know your audience. Last week I asked my audience what they wanted to know from Danny and they asked about how he works with his crew. That would not be in any of these templates. Because of My Podcast - I've Met People From All Over the Globe Becuase of their podcast Gary and Margaret of the Kiwi Mana Podcast (all about bees) have met people from all over the globe. Check them out at http://kiwimana.co.nz/ Congrats to all the New  Hall of Fame Inductees Dawn and Drew  Gary Leland   (hear Gary on a previous episode) Mignon Fogharty (Hear Mignon on this show) Rob Walch  (Hear Walch on a previous episode) Podcast Rewind I appeared on round 63 of the Podcasters Round Table where we were talking Podcasting hacks (great episode) I appeared on Business Mistakes Episode 35  talking about mistakes I've made. Eric K Johnson did a great episode on critiquing your own show, and he mentioned last's week's episode. Don't Be Afraid to Try Something New So last week I was in a bit of a pickle. I knew Danny Peña had a great story. I had known it for a long time, but I never made the effort to have Danny on the show. I always known I would get around to it. Well in my laziness he appeared on the New Media Show, and Podcast Junkies. Now this is not a big deal, but I wanted to really bring Danny's story before anyone had really heard his story (that wasn't in the gaming world that is). So now I was going to have Danny on the show. What could I do to make my interview stand out? Danny's story needs no help. It's awesome, but still I wanted to stand out.  So listened to those interviews and tried to figure out what I wanted to have on this show, as well as anything that could make it stand out. There are no "bad" parts of Danny's story. This made it tough. So again, what could I do to be different. I never want to be like everyone else. So I added sound effects. How did I know these would work? Because I had not heard the sound of a 56 K modem in a very long time and when I did it made me smile. When I heard the sound effect of pacman, the MTV theme, or the others sound effects I used they made me smile. I realized anyone under 30 wouldn't get the subtle joke, but those who did, would hopefully have the same reaction I did. They smiled.  School of Podcasting Closes For This Session 3/31  If you are looking to start a podcat, want personalize attention, then the School of Podcasting is for you. I’m at a hotel here in Bali, I ALWAYS stay at the W. This time, though, I had a gift voucher to use for another hotel. It was expiring soon, so I figured I’d use it.It’s a pretty good hotel. But I’m not over the moon about it.. and it’s interesting: You get what you pay for! The small little things are REALLY pissing me off here: the wifi wouldn’t work. The feel of the hotel isn’t the 5-star feel I’m used to. There were no sweat towels in the gym. It was all these little things that I’m not used to.The hotel isn’t the W. It’s not what I’m ACCUSTOMED to.It’s just so noticeable: you get what you pay for. If I want to feel luxurious, I have to PAY for it. It’s the same in business.Anything that matters to you, if you go for the cheaper option, you’ll probably notice the difference.• You don’t always have to pay for the most expensive thing• Have a think about what outcome you want• Is it worth upgrading to the luxury option?EXERCISE:Think about the last time you went for the less-expensive option of something in your business. Did you end up spending MORE money later on that EXACT same thing?Have a think about something you REALLY want, or need to get, and think about what would happen if you bought the upgraded option?   If you enjoyed this episode of ERTV, you can sign up here (http://katloterzo.com/podcast) and receive my FREE book: Multi-Passionate Woman: FOR THE DRIVEN WOMAN WHO WANTS TO BE, DO AND HAVE IT ALL, IN BUSINESS AND LIFE!

Today’s expression and dialog: to be fresh out of something   I’m going to the store.   Great. We’re fresh out of milk.   Anything else? We could use some sugar. And lettuce, too.   Do you go shopping at the grocery store BEFORE you need to go shopping at the grocery store?!! They say that if you go WITH a list and NOT when you are hungry, you will save money AND buy healthier foods.  I try to do that...but I have to be honest, I usually go when I absolutely need something! Usually milk or eggs. Beer? As you might know, I do enjoy beer--but I ALWAYS have extra beer in the house! I'm never "out"!  Today's expression talks about when you are OUT of something--it's an easy expression and very good. So, I want you to use it and TWEET me your example sentence, okay? You can leave it on FaceBook, too! Have a great day,   Coach Shane   Please subscribe on iTunes and get this podcast EVERY DAY! Support Coach Shane by giving $1 a month! Today’s expression and dialog: better safe than sorry   Oh, the weather looks great!   Yeah, it does. Got your umbrella?   What for? It’s sunny! Better safe than sorry~   Do you have extra batteries in your home? Extra light bulbs? If you are a smoker, do you have extra lighters? Extra cigarettes somewhere? If you like sweets, do you have some extra cookies or chocolate bars hidden somewhere? If you do, then you are like me! I ALWAYS want to be ready in case of an emergency. Right now, in my desk drawer, I have two chocolate bars. Actually, I don't really like that brand...but I know, if my good chocolate were to disappear (into my stomach) then I would have an EMERGENCY SUPPLY ready to keep me alive until I go to the store!! Yeah...that's my life. Really. And today I will teach you the expression YOU need to know if you are like me!     Coach Shane   Please subscribe on iTunes and get this podcast EVERY DAY! Freelancing is a great way to earn a living. But sooner or later, every successful freelancer starts to ask himself ...   "Gee, will I ALWAYS have to trade time for money?" Even if you price your work by the project, you're still selling your time. When you go away on vacation or when you're sick in bed ... you're not earning an income. One of the best ways to break out of this time-for-money cycle is to create, package and sell B2B information products to clients and to other businesses. And in this interview, software developer and entrepreneur Brennan Dunn shares some very practical advice for doing just that.

Richard Adair's - Bible Study Lessons

This is NOT some new thing. Learning Jesus will heal you NOW is easily understood when you Search The Scriptures for yourself. If you just took the book of Matthew alone and read all 28 chapters which would probably take you only a couple of hours you would convince yourself of this fact as well. Trouble is... will we read the book of Matthew and find out? Unfortunately, many will NOT. Thats about as smart as saying "if I take that medicine my doctor gave me I will get better, but I'm NOT going to take it". That would be so stupid, right? Well is the same thing when we don't search the Bible to see if Jesus will heal us. We all have so many reasons why we are so sure we will NOT be healed. Many times we won't read because we condemn ourselves because we think we are too sinful to be healed. Sin will NOT stop you from being healed. It's quite the opposite when you READ the truth. There is no excuse for you NOT to be healed except for our own ignorance of the Mercy and Love of God to everyone of us. Ask yourself this question. "Why is it that I ALWAYS believe God will NOT heal me?" Isn't it interesting that we always start out believing He Will NOT heal us? We have more confidence in Jesus NOT healing us. This should make any thinking person suspicious of why one should believe so negatively. When you read the bible you'll always figure out that YES God wants to heal me and He wants to right NOW! Take the plunge! Jump into God's Word and listen to no one else and let God be God and heal you today! It is that simple! Wouldn't you agree God wants everyone to believe in Jesus and go to heaven someday? Wouldn't you say that promise if for EVERYONE and be willing to argue all day long to prove it? Why is it that you believe this so strongly and won't budge? It's because you KNOW what the BIble says about going to heaven! Its the exact same when it comes to Jesus healing you! Once you learn THIS no one can every take it away from you!

Episode 3 comes to you from my kitchen, on a rainy Monday morning in Maine. After experimenting with a few recording spots at the office and warehouse, stepping away from the hustle and bustle may just be the best solution for decent audio. After a short trip to Las Vegas, I share one of my all time travel fears: running out of knitting projects to work on during a trip! From experience, I ALWAYS over pack. This time was no exception—3 projects for a 3-day trip. Really...REALLY?? Yes...I can't help it. You never know. I actually Mapquested the nearest yarn shop in advance, Gail Knits (a customer of ours), just in case...And if you think a Vegas casino is no place for knitting, think again. While waiting for the slowest penny slot machine to pay out $111.27, I took out a sock project (note to self: never leave the hotel room without an emergency knitting project) worked in an experimental version of Ty-Dy Socks (Skinny Stripes—a new version of this popular yarn). A win/win situation ($$ + knitting in public) And by the way in case you are wondering, no tattoos! While I was in Las Vegas for the American Rental Association trade show (Jay, my SO, owns an equipment rental store), I did not take the time to walk the show floor with him—tractors and chain saws do nothing for my creative soul. Fortunately, there is a trade organization in our industry, The National Needle Arts Association, that totally fits the bill. We exhibit our products at the bi-annual trade show, along with many other companies. The show, including classes open to members only (sorry folks, not to the general public), spans 5 to 6 days, and one of the highlight is the Friday evening fashion show. We always participate and for this latest show, we had 3 featured designs: the Mermaid Tee in Ty-Dy cotton, the Stadium Cardigan in Nautika, and the Yoga Shrug and Sock Set in Pediwick. We have many new designs for spring, including the Athena Tank. This design is a perfect example of a blend of 2 ideas: an off-the-rack tank top with a printed motif on the racer back and a design for the Triangle Shawl from a previous season. Combine components of these 2 very different garments, and the end design is the Athena Tank (shown below in blue), pattern 1740, worked in Babyboo, a bamboo/nylon blend (very soft to the touch and machine washable). This pattern is also featured in the June issue of Knit'n Style magazine (should be on the newsstand any day now). The mini lesson for this episode is about the basics of lace: for every yarn over in lace (which creates the eyelet openings) there must be a matching decrease to offset it. If you work a yarn over without this matching decrease, the yarn over becomes an increase (and you will have more and more stitches on your needle). The following chart shows you each group of matching stitches (each color = matching stitches). For the groups of symbols in blue, red, purple and green, each yarn over is matched with either a k2 together or ssk decrease. The 2 orange eyelets are offset by the double decrease in between. The Hey Teach Cardigan from Knitty.com I designed in 2008 (and still going strong) is a perfect example of a pattern where you must be careful in keeping track of your matching yarn overs and decreases. In the chart below, the blue line illustrates a sample armhole shaping. The 2 circled yarn overs must NOT be worked because their matching decrease (the inverted V to the right) is no longer being worked after being eliminated by shaping. As promised, I've created a pdf file with a blank grid to be used whenever you want to chart out the complete armhole shaping of a garment, or if you want to experiment in designing your own lace—go ahead, give it a go!Hélène
