From having nothing to lose, but everything to prove to fighting for the richest prize in wrestling a year later, Jay White and Kota Ibushi have staked their claim as the top wrestlers in the world, but only one man can be IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Double Champion walking out of Wrestle Kingdom 15. Where will this New Japan modern classic rank on the list?Support the show
HAPPY NEW YEAR! First episode of 2023 and what a better way to appreciate wrestling than to honor the best in the business...no not Don Callis! WRESTLE KINGDOM! Mr Rizzo, CJ, and TBZ break down several matches off of the blockbuster PPV (IWGP Women's, IWGP Junior's, IWGP US, and IWGP Heavyweight championships). Could there already be a match of the year in 2023???
In the middle of May 2011, New Japan Pro Wrestling decided to take their first tour of the United States of America. On this tour they debuted the Intercontinental title. You know, a title that at times was at times on par with the IWGP Heavyweight title. Obviously that belt had not-so-humble beginnings. Surely the tournament to crown the inaugural championship of the title that would become unified with the IWGP strap would be an incredible achievement. Join Sam and Dan as they break down the action, preach the word of Yano unironically, and dig into Josh Daniels lore. LINK: https://noodlemagazine.com/watch/-5899799_456240785
AEW has a new title, and a tournament to go with it. What does Cody and CM Punk being injured do to there shows? Is Tony going for a grand slam with this NJPW cross ppv? And Jay White finally gets the keys to the castle as he becomes IWGP Heavyweight title
We chug along on the Long & Winding Royal Road as WH Park is joined by fellow POST podcaster Benno (The British Wrestling Experience and Grappl Spotlight) to talk about a legendary match that actually took place in New Japan Pro Wrestling but still falls under the umbrella of 1990s All Japan. On February 10, 1990, NJPW held their Super Fight in Tokyo Dome show with heavy participation from the AJPW roster including top foreign star, Stan Hansen as he challenged for the IWGP Heavyweight title against defending champion, Big Van Vader.Benno and WH go over the match and talk about the importance of these two meeting each other at this time in their respective careers, as well as the horrific eye injury suffered by Vader in its early portions.Watch this match on NJPW World (account required):https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00090_2_01 (English)https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00090_1_9 (Japanese)WH Park and a special guest look back at the greatest matches of All Japan Pro Wrestling from the 1990s in the Long & Winding Royal Road, a limited-edition podcast from POST Wrestling.Support this podcast by picking up a L&WRR t-shirt in either black or white: https://store.postwrestling.com/search?q=long+%26+winding+royal+roadWH Park on Twitter: @whpark9Subscribe: https://postwrestling.com/subscribeForum: https://forum.postwrestling.comMerch: https://store.postwrestling.comTwitter/Facebook/Instagram/YouTube: @postwrestlingMusic: "Across the Danube, Op. 36" by John Philip Sousa | Performed by United States Marine Band (band) and Jason Fettig (conductor) | The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa, No.4 | Washington, DC: United States Marine Band, 2015. | Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 | Public Domain LetterAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
The content keeps on coming from Top Guy Theater with this our second bonus show for March 2022. Tonight we take a DEEP dive into the world of IMPACT Wrestling as they present TNA Hard Justice 2005, from the IMPACT Zone inside Universal Studios in beautiful Orlando, Florida!!! We cover three matches from this show, including Christopher Daniels vs Shocker(yes, that's his name) for the X Division Championship, a 20-man Gauntlet for the Gold to determine the #1 contender for the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship, and to close out the show, we see future IWGP Heavyweight and WWE Champion AJ Styles compete for another shot at holding the prestigious NWA World's Heavyweight Championship against former WCW World Heavyweight and WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett. Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz is also part of the match as the special guest referee. But, as a special attraction and the REAL main event, Frank's dreams come true when he finally gets to interview fellow Tennesee Titans fan, and oh yeah WWE Hall of Famer, Jeff Jarrett! Aside from fangirling, Phil and Frank talk to Jeff about his phenomenal (yes, pun intended) match with AJ Styles. This is the most I've seen Frank fangirl since he once touched HBK's rippling biceps!! It's Double J. It's AJ Styles. It's a DEEP DIVE into IMPACT Wrestling as Top Guy Theater seeks to deliver some HARD JUSTICE!!!

Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, May 4, 2021. A special welcome to those of you listening on OccupyProWrestling.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: WWE) The NXT Women's Tag Team Championships are on the line in a Street Fight. Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart will defend against Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. Also on tonight's NXT a “Falls Count Anywhere” Match between Isaiah SWERVE Scott and Leon Ruff. Plus, Tommaso Ciamp and Timothy Thatcher vs. the Grizzled Young Veterans...and the return of Finn Balor. We're getting a 3-Way match for the Raw Women's Title at WrestleMania Backlash - Rhea Ripley defending against Asuka and Charlotte Flair. WWE had announced it would simply be Ripley vs. Asuka - but during Raw, Charlotte pulled some strings...with Sonya Deville and was added to the match. Charlotte submitted Dana Brooke. Mandy Rose took a few cheap shots at Charlotte after the match. Some familiar faces are returning to Raw. Mansoor was revealed as a new member of the roster last night. He was one of the hottests wrestlers in WWE - riding a 49-match winning streak that dates back to 2019. BUT, Mansoor was put into a match last night, against Sheamus. It was interrupted by Humberto Carrillo...who attacked Sheamus. That's a disqualification WIN for Sheamus...and a LOSS for Mansoor. The streak...is over. There was also a video on last night's Raw hyping up the return of Eva Marie! As promised, we got the return of the Raw Tag Team Champs AJ Styles and Omos last night...and they successfully defended their titles in a WrestleMania rematch against Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Lana and Naomi got a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles - but Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler retained the gold. Baszler submitted Lana. In last night's main event, WWE Champ Bobby Lashley beat Braun Strowman in a non-title match. Strowman was distracted by Drew McIntyre, who was hanging around ringside. After the match, McIntyre laid out both guys. We're getting Lashley vs. McIntyre in another non-title match on next Monday's Raw. Lucha House Party beat Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. Alexander berated Benjamin after the match...and said their tag team is “done”. Angel Garza pinned Drew Gulak with the Wing Clipper. After the match, Garza shoved a rose down the back of Gulak's trunks and kicked him in the rear. Team R-K-Bro beat Elias and Jaxson Ryker...and Damien Priest beat John Morrison. (STINGER: New Japan) It's Day 2 of New Japan's Wrestling Dontaku. This morning's main event is Will Ospreay defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Shingo Takagi. On Monday's Wrestling Dontaku show...Jay White won the NEVER Openweight Champion. He dethroned Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event. White is the first man to hold the IWGP Heavyweight, Intercontinental, United States and NEVER Title. (White Belt Collector) That clip from New Japan's social media. White also challenged David Finlay, who beat White in the New Japan Cup. Also on Monday's show...Taichi defeated Tama Tonga in a Ladder Match - securing the Iron Fingers Of Doom that were hung above the ring. Zack Sabre Jr. beat Tanga Loa. That means Sabre and Taichi will get another shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles held by the Guerillas of Destiny. (STINGER: ROH) A title change on Ring Of Honor's weekend TV. Tony Deppen is the new ROH TV Champion. He used a clever pinning combination to take the gold from HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams. Also on the show, Flamita snuck in a low blow to pin his former tag partner Bandido. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett beat the Beer City Bruiser and Ken Dixon. After the match, Taven hit Bruiser with a beer bottle. Bennett did not seem to be on board with that. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Dark has...the return of Pac, taking on Serpentico. There was an upset on last night's Dark: Elevation. Abadon pinned Ryo Mizunami with her Cemetery Drive finisher. Also last night, Nyla Rose blew through Madi Wrenkowski...and in the main event, Austen & Colten Gunn beat Chaos Project. Jake Lee is the winner of All Japan's Champion Carnival. He will challenge the Triple Crown champion, Suwama, on May 16. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, May 4. In this episode we pick up pretty much where we left off in Chapter I. Genichiro Tenryu is the new AJPW Triple Crown Champion, but his feud with Jumbo Tsuruta continues. How does it end and where do we go from there are the big questions we answer in this outing. The Four Pillars of Wrestling also make their first appearances in our story and we chart Mitsuharu Misawa’s life up until May of 1990. What elements of his upbringing drove him to wrestling greatness? What obstacles did he overcome? And who helped him along the way? All of these things and much more are covered in Chapter 2 of King’s Road: A 90s All Japan Retrospective. In addition to the context and background information discussed, we also take a look at the following four matches: Tenryu vs Tsuruta 10/11/89 - Triple Crown III Tenryu vs Tsuruta 4/19/90 - Final Outing Tiger Mask II & Toshiaki Kawada vs Fuyuki & Yatsu 5/14/90 - The Mask Comes Off Misawa, Kobashi, & Taue vs. Jumbo, Kabuki, & Fuchi 5/26/90 - New Generation Emerges Missing Pieces - Genichiro Tenryu left AJPW after his defeat in April of 1990 at the hands of Jumbo Tsuruta to be the spokesmodel for Megane Super - an eyeglass maker in Japan. However, the company seemed to have a dual motive in hiring Tenryu as they would launch a wrestling company shortly thereafter - Super World of Sports. The SWS was founded with the motto “Straight and Strong”. Megane threw a ton of money around to recruit wrestlers - mostly from All Japan - in an attempt to form a legitimate threat to the other big two - NJPW & AJPW. They even had a short-lived partnership with the WWF and promoted 3 shows at the Tokyo Dome with Vince McMahon’s company. SWS would not last and became a victim of both the economic downturn in Japan and perhaps their own overreach. Tenryu would go on to found another company - Wrestling and Romance, better known as WAR. Eventually he found his way back to All Japan and enjoyed quite a bit of success in his late 40s and early 50s capturing both the IWGP Heavyweight title and then the AJPW Triple Crown twice more. Horst Hoffman was a journeyman wrestler in the truest sense of the word. Born in Germany, he spent most of his early career wrestling in his homeland and honing his considerable technical skills. Hoffman caught the notice of fellow European Billy Robinson and found his way to the AWA for a time where he competed in upper mid-card and main event matches. Hoffman has been described as a shooter and his eventual exposure to a wider audience provided all the evidence one needed to apply that appellation. When he made his Japan debut in 1972 for International Wrestling Enterprises, it’s possible that an 11 year old Misawa first became acquainted with him, though he would go to even wider exposure in Japan when he began wrestling for AJPW in 1975. He competed at the highest level for the promotion notching victories over the Destroyer and Pat O’Connor and engaging in main event contests with Jumbo Tsuruta and Giant Baba. His final recorded All Japan tour came in 1977 when he teamed with Billy Robinson in the precursor to the Real World Tag League. They finished in the middle of the pack with 7 points. A minor figure in pro wrestling history by today’s standards, he was no less incredible in the ring and is highly esteemed by his peers and fans alike. If nothing else, he provided inspiration to a young Misawa when he needed it most and an older Misawa would pay a suitable tribute by adopting his ring colors and tights. 00:00:00 Introduction 00:10:00 Tenryu as champ 00:11:00 10/11/89 Tenryu v Tsuruta Triple Crown 00:17:00 Where next for Tenryu? 00:17:42 4/19/90 Tsuruta v Tenryu Triple Crown 00:24:00 Sayonara Tenryu 00:24:26 Where do we go from here? I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, January 12, 2021. This update is sponsored by Fight Underground. Search for Fight Underground on Facebook and check out the new fight between Beastman and “The Gavel” David Lawless! Results from Monday Night Raw are straight ahead in this update but first… The big story looming over last night's show - WWE Champion Drew McIntyre testing positive for COVID-19. (McIntyre COVID) Part of McIntyre's pre-recorded comments that aired on last night's Raw. He said he hopes to be back soon. WWE also made it official..that McIntyre will defend his title against Goldberg at the Royal Rumble. In the ring, Triple H filled the opening in the main event - his first match on Raw since 2016…he brawled with Randy Orton for about 5 minutes. Then, the lights started to go out. Triple H's sledgehammer caught fire. ALL of the lights went out. When some of them came back, Triple H was gone. But Alexa Bliss was there..and she shot a fireball into Orton's face! End scene. Ric Flair TURNED on his daughter Charlotte. For the second week in a row, he sabotaged her in a match against Lacey Evans. Ric and Lacey later left the arena arm in arm. We have a couple new names for the women's Royal Rumble: Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose declared..right before they lost a tag match to Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. A number of names performing double duty on last night's Raw. Keith Lee and Sheamus teamed up to beat The Miz and John Morrison. THEN, they fought each other...with Keith Lee coming out on top. Bobbly Lashley successfully defended his U.S. title against Riddle, who submitted to the Hurt Lock. After the match, Riddle challenged MVP. But that match ended in a DQ thanks to Lashley. Finally, T-Bar beat Xavier Woods - who was alone. The announcers said Kofi Kingston is out with a broken jaw. (STINGER: Impact) Tonight's Impact Wrestling is the final stop before the Hard To Kill pay per view. The main event of that show will be in the spotlight. Impact world champ Rich Swann will battle Karl Anderson...and Kenny Omega is set to appear. We'll also see Kimber Lee vs. Taya Valkyrie. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Dark has 12 matches on tap. Among the names set for action: NWA Women's Champion Serena Deeb..and the woman who will challenge for the title on Wednesday's Dynamite: Tay Conti. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan responding to the new state of emergency in and around Tokyo. At a news conference early Tuesday, it announced shorter cards for the New Beginning tour.and earlier start times for shows at Korakeun Hall. The full cards for all the entire tour are now out. Here are the major matches. The January 23rd show will see Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado defend the junior tag titles against El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori...Also, Hiroyoshi Tenzan will return to action on that show. On January 30.. Shingo Takagi defends the NEVER title against Hiroshi Tanahashi. February 10... Guerrillas of Destiny defend their tag titles against Dangerous Tekkers… and SHO challenges Hiromu Takahashi for the junior heavyweight championship. Finally, Kota Ibushi defends the double gold against SANADA on February 11. At Tuesday's news conference Ibushi restated that he'd like to see the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles unified into a single belt. Japan's new state of emergency impacting other promotions - Dragon Gate is moving up the start time for its show on February 5th. And Japan's ZERO1 promotion is going even further - postponing three shows originally scheduled for later this month. MLW confirmed Monday that former Lucha Underground champion Mil Muertes will make his debut on Wednesday's Fusion. The match is being promoted as an “open contract”, so we don't know his opponent yet. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, January 12. Check out the new episode right now wherever you get your podcasts. Results from Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom, Impact and AEW Dark are straight ahead in this update but first… 2021 is just getting started but THIS could turn out to be the biggest day of the year in pro wrestling. Four MAJOR companies..holding MAJOR shows..with MAJOR title matches. (STINGER: NXT) Let's start with NXT's New Year's Evil show. Kyle O'Reilly is challenging Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. Balor barely survived their last meeting at TakeOver 31 back in October - where O'Reilly broke his jaw. Also tonight - Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing match. Karrion Kross vs. Damien Priest. Tommasso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher in the FIGHT PIT. Santos Esccobar defends his Cruiserweight Title against Gran Metalik. AND brackets for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will be revealed. Kenny Omega defends his AEW World Championship for the first time against Rey Fenix. Hikaru Shida defends the AEW women's title against Abadon. Wardlow clashes with Jake Hager. AND Snoop Dogg will appear. On last night's Dark - an in-ring confrontation between Marko Stunt...and Dark Order's Negative One - a.k.a. Brodie Lee Jr. (Negative One Promo) That clip from last night's Dark. Negative One's led to a pull apart brawl between he and Stunt. Later, Dark Order's Alan “5” Angels beat Serpentico..and Negative One returned, took the mic again..and told Serpentico's tag partner Luther that he looks stupid. (STINGER: Impact) Kenny Omega was back on Impact last night. He and the Good Brothers ambushed Rich Swann and the Motor City Machine Guns. Also last night, an upset in the semifinals of the Knockouts Tag Team Championship Tournament. Havok and Nevaeh beat Jordynne Grace & Jazz. Havok pinned Jazz after a piledriver. She and Nevaeh head to the finals at Hard To Kill where they'll face Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz. As for Grace and Jazz, they'll now face one another - at the Impact Plus exclusive Genesis show on Saturday. Sami Callihan and Eddie Edwards fought to a no contest in the main event. They'll meet again in a Barbed Wire Massacre at the Hard to Kill pay per view on January 16th. Also added to that show: Eric Young, Deaner & Joe Doering vs. Tommy Dreamer, Rhino & Cousin Jake in an Old School Rules match...and Ethan Page vs. (his alter ego) The Karate Man. (STINGER: New Japan) After two nights in the Tokyo Dome, New Japan has its New Year Dash show today. Kota Ibushi is carrying the Double Gold out of Wrestle Kingdom. He beat Jay White in a 48 minute EPIC main event on Tuesday's show. Backstage, Jay White said he's “done” and teased that he'll walk away from New Japan after New Year Dash. (Jay White WK Backstage) That clip from New Japan's YouTube channel. As for Ibushi, he's now asking to unify the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships. And it looks like Ibushi's next title match will be against SANADA. He beat EVIL on Tuesday and then returned to the ring to challenge Ibushi after the main event. Here are the rest of the results from Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom: Hiromu Takahashi won the junior heavyweight title from Taiji Ishimori. Shingo Takagi retained his NEVER title against Jeff Cobb. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru held onto their Jr. Heavyweight Tag titles against Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato. And Toru Yano seized the King Of Pro Wrestling 2021 trophy. MLW is looking to make some noise tonight with its Kings Of Colosseum event. Lio Rush makes his MLW debut..as he challenges Myron Reed for the middleweight title. Also, Alexander Hammerstone defends his national openweight title against the BLACK HAND OF CONTRA Mads Krugger. AND The Von Erichs put their tag titles on the line against the Dirty Blondes. There's encouraging news for Septimo Dragon. He suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Mexico just over a week ago. MLW says Septimo's condition has stabilized and he underwent a third surgery earlier this week. (STINGER: Ring Of Honor) Ring Of Honor TV Champ Dragon Lee will defend his title against Rey Horus on ROH TV in two weeks. Ring Of Honor also announced Tuesday that Bandido has re-signed with the company. He's currently a co-holder of the ROH 6-man titles with Horus and Flamita, but he hasn't appeared in Ring Of Honor since last February. Finally, after berating her legendary father on Monday Night Raw...Charlotte and Ric Flair made peace Tuesday on Twitter. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Matt Carlins. Our next update comes your way tomorrow morning, so be sure to subscribe to this feed. We also thank you in advance for leaving a glowing rating or review.. I'm Matt Carlins. Thank YOU for listening.
IT'S THE BIGGEST SHOW OF THE YEAR, BABY! AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! Wrestle Kingdom 15 has so much action it can't all be contained in one episode! Daniel and Bonesaw cover the thrilling events of night one, which includes a main event match between Tetsuya Naito and Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships! Will the boyhood dream come true for Kota Ibushi, or will Naito retain his titles and go on to defend them on night 2? We're pretty sure you already know by this point, but you're tuning in to hear what we think! So quit reading this and get on it, nerd!
I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, January 5, 2021. This update is sponsored by Fight Underground. Search for Fight Underground on Facebook and check out the new fight between Colossal Mike Law and The Masked Bandit. Results from Monday Night Raw and Night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: Ring Of Honor) Marty Scurll is GONE from Ring Of Honor. The company released a one sentence statement Monday, saying they've “mutually decided to part ways”. Scurll started 2020 under a new multi-year contract with ROH, which included a new role on the booking team. But a #SpeakingOut accusation over the summer led to Scurll admitting to a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old girl back in 2015. One other Ring Of Honor note from Monday. The company announced it re-signed Mark Haskins to a new contract. (STINGER: New Japan) Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom going down Tuesday in Tokyo Dome. The final pieces of the card were put in place on Monday. Kota Ibushi will carry the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles into the main event against Jay White. Hiromu Takahashi will challenge Taiji Ishimori for the Jr. Heavyweight Title. And the first King of Pro Wrestling 2021 holder will be decided in a 4-way: Bad Luck Fale vs. Chase Owens vs. BUSHI vs. Toru Yano. We'll have the Night 2 results in our Wednesday morning update. Here are the rest of the results from Night 1: The Empire hit a couple speed bumps. Kazuchika Okada beat Will Ospreay..and Hiroshi Tanahashi got past Great-O-Khan. The Guerrillas Of Destiny stole the “Iron Finger” from Taichi and used it to beat Dangerous Tekkers to win the IWGP heavyweight tag titles for a record SEVENTH time. It's also GOD's first-ever win in Tokyo Dome. KENTA defended his U.S. title “right to challenge” briefcase against Satoshi Kojima. That match was preceded by a pre-recorded message from the current U.S. Champ Jon Moxley. (Mox Wrestle Kingdom Message) That Wrestle Kingdom clip from New Japan's social media. Also, a reminder that the New Year Dash show is coming up on Wednesday. (STINGER: WWE) Let's get into last night's Raw. Drew McIntyre hit the Claymore and pinned Keith Lee to retain his WWE Championship. And then…. GOLDBERG showed up! He said he wants to challenge McIntyre for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. And here was Drew's answer... (McIntyre Answers Goldberg) That clip from last night's Raw. We have some new Royal Rumble entrants. Charlotte Flair, Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles and Randy Orton all declared. Speaking of Charlotte, she flipped out on her dad Ric after she and Asuka lost a tag match to Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans. Lacey's flirting with Ric provided the distraction. Riddle surprised Lashley with a rollup win in a non-title match against the U.S. champ. Moments earlier, Lashley had forced Riddle to tap to The Hurt Lock, but the ref didn't see it. Orton soundly beat Jeff Hardy with an RKO. He also went after Hardy's earlobes again. By the way, Orton said he did NOT set Alexa Bliss on fire at the end of last week's show. Finally, R-Truth reclaimed the 24/7 title from Angel Garza. (STINGER: Impact) Impact Wrestling has new in-ring content tonight after two weeks of “Best of 2020” shows. AEW Champ Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers will appear. The second Knockouts Tag Title Tournament Semifinal goes down with Jordynne Grace & Jazz facing Neveah & Havok. Plus, Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards. Now added to Impact's Hard to Kill pay per view on January 16 - Deonna Purrazzo defending the Knockouts title against Taya Valkyrie. (STINGER: AEW) 16 matches on tonight's AEW Dark - including Rey Fenix faces Aaron Solow. Fenix gets his shot at Omega's AEW Title on Wednesday's Dynamite. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Tuesday, January 5. Our next update comes your way tomorrow morning, so be sure to subscribe to this feed. I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Monday, January 4, 2021. This update is sponsored by IndyWrestling.us. If it's January 4th, it must be Wrestle Kingdom! Night 1 of New Japan's biggest event of the year is being held today in Tokyo Dome. We'll have results for you in our update tomorrow. The Night 2 card being held Tuesday will have Jay White in the main event, challenging either Tetsuya Naito or Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles. Also, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight champ Taiji Ishimori awaits the winner of the Night 1 match between Hiromu Takahashi and El Phantasmo. Also on tap for Night 2… EVIL vs. SANADA and Shingo Takagi defending the NEVER title against Jeff Cobb. This is a big week not only for New Japan. Other Japanese promotions are also holding major shows. But all the events in Tokyo are under the cloud of growing COVID-19 concerns. The latest daily new case record was set there over the weekend. Speaking early Monday, the Japanese prime minister said the government could declare a state of emergency in and around Tokyo. That would be only the second in Japan since the start of the pandemic. The first was back in spring. It lasted for just over a month. Tokyo leaders are already asking businesses to shorten their hours. New restrictions on large-scale events in Tokyo were announced at the end of December. Those forced New Japan to halt ticket sales for Wrestle Kingdom. Everyone attending Wrestle Kingdom this week is being asked to register for contact tracing. (STINGER: WWE) Tonight is “Legends Night” on Monday Night Raw. Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and many others are being promoted. Also, we'll get Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Championship against Keith Lee. Among the new free agents in the new year - former NWA TV champ Zicky Dice. And he seems to know exactly where he wants to land. (Zicky Dice To AEW?) Zicky Dice speaking with Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful.com. It looks like AEW is about to take their shows back out on the road - at least, for a little bit. Bodyslam.net's Cassidy Haynes reports AEW will leave Daily's Place next month and head to Miami - for tapings of Dynamite, Dark and its Revolution pay-per-view on February 27th. AEW would return to Jacksonville in March. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Monday, January 4. Our next update comes your way tomorrow morning, so be sure to subscribe to this feed. We also thank you in advance for leaving a glowing rating or review.. I'm Matt Carlins. Thank YOU for listening.

The struggle is REAL! Daniel and Bonesaw discuss the events of Power Struggle, which concluded in spectacular fashion with Tetsuya Naito facing off against Evil for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Double Championship! The boys also preview Best of the Super Jr. 27, World Tag League, Super J-Cup and Jushin Thunder Liger's winter fashion line!
Join Ryan, Pat, and Joey as we run down our group’s predictions for New Japan’s Power Struggle and AEW’s Full Gear PPV! It’s a double header on November 7th, and we wanted to get these predictions out together. Naito takes on EVIL for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships (once again!!!!), as Kota Ibushi and KENTA defend their Wrestle Kingdom briefcases elsewhere on the card! For Full Gear, FTR and the Young Bucks finally meet, Cody defends the TNT Championship against Darby Allin, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page face off for an AEW World Championship shot, and Jon Moxley defends his AEW World Championship in an “I Quit” Match against Eddie Kingston! On a more serious note, the United States 2020 Presidential Election is currently underway, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about the unfolding situations here in the country. If politics aren’t your thing, that’s fine, we saved it all for the end of the podcast! We would love for everyone to sit through and listen to everything we have to say on the subject as we feel it is important to discuss real world events and issues such as this election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Join Pat, Joey, and Ryan for their review of New Japan’s latest big show, Power Struggle 2020! This is probably the last big show before Wrestle Kingdom where singles titles will be on the line, with the finals of BOSJ/World Tag League also possibly playing host to possible title defenses, but this show was a lot about setting up programs for Wrestle Kingdom 15! The card featured Toru Yano vs Zack Sabre Jr. in a “No Corner Pads” Match for the KOPW 2020 Trophy, Minoru Suzuki defending the NEVER Openweight Championship against Shingo Takagi, Kazuchika Okada facing off against The Great O-Khan of The Empire, Hiroshi Tanahashi challenging KENTA for his IWGP United States Championship Briefcase, Jay White taking on Kota Ibushi again, but for the Wreslte Kingdom briefcase, and in the rematch to end all rematches, EVIL challenging Tetsuya Naito once again for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships! With major implications for Wrestle Kingdom, how did we feel about the show? Listen and find out! The Big Boys review their first New Japan Pro Wrestling show! Taking place in the summer of 2016, Dominion was a buck wild card featuring NJPW's first ever ladder match, a 4 way tag match that features MAJOR players in 2020, and a match for the IWGP Heavyweight title between two legends - Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito. Pat, Ryan, Rob, and Joey are back with another episode of the Deep Six Wrestling Podcast, this time covering the New Japan Summer Struggle in Jingu show! Featuring a short, but stacked card of six matches, the show was a breeze to get through and one of our favorites of the year. The aforementioned matches were Master Wato vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru, the KOPW 4-Way, Minoru Suzuki vs Shingo Takagi for the NEVER Openweight Championship, Hiromu Takahashi vs Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, Golden Ace vs Dangerous Tekkers for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, and a main event clash between Tetsuya Naito & EVIL for both the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Championships! So, with such big matches taking this whole show, what did we think of New Japan’s return to Jingu Stadium? Listen to the podcast and find out! Host Troy Adams is joined by 2chambz from the Big Gold Belt podcast to discuss the Japanese equivalent of WrestleMania; Wrestle Kingdom. For the 14th installment of New Japan Pro Wrestling's biggest show of the year, they've spread it out to two days in the Tokyo Dome instead of just one. Someone was also crowned both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion at the same time, Chris Jericho brought the AEW Title to Japan, and much more!
A little Star Wars talk to start, but then we get right into breaking down the two biggest nights of the year for New Japan Pro Wrestling. We go over all the matches for this year's Wrestle Kingdom 14! We pick who would think will win each match and go over what will be the match of the night and who will leave the dome as both IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships.
Another great week in Wrestling, thanksgiving, all the news that can be had.
With only two weeks left in a miraculous year of perfect matches, in the opinion of Dave Meltzer, New Japan were able to squeeze one last five-star affair before 2018 reached its conclusion. It involved four men who have all been involved in multiple perfect matches this year, and it was one of the final chances for the IWGP Heavyweight and NEVER Openweight champions and challengers to size each other up before Wrestle Kingdom. Tanahashi teaming with CHAOS member, and fellow title challenger, Ospreay to take on the seemingly invincible reunited dream team of Omega & Ibushi as the Golden Lovers. Will this makeshift team pull off an upset and get into the champions' minds before their title defences? Lorcan (@lorcanmullan) and Simon (@simoncross3) are here to find out. lmtyspod@gmail.com
Okada may now be the Ace of the promotion, but that doesn't mean he has to face challengers, even within his own faction! It's G1 Climax time, and it's the only year where faction civil war takes place, and the 'Stone Pitbull' has risen in the ranks to become the de factor second-in-command of the group. Will that mean he can finally get a win over the 'Rainmaker' in one of his rare chances to take on the perennial IWGP Heavyweight champ. Lorcan (@lorcanmullan) and Simon (@simoncross3) are here to find out. lmtyspod@gmail.com

Part 1 of JR's chat with IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega, talking about his historic win over long-time-rival Kazuchika Okada and the future superstars of NJPW
James is joined by Alex Watt and Marcus Green of Total Wrestling Magazine to review Dominion from NJPW. With hardly anything announced a month ago, this looked like it was going to be just another show. Then Naito was attacked by Chris Jericho, and The Rainmaker called out Omega for his 13th IWGP title defense, and Hiromu Takahashi won the Best of Super Juniors and everything came up roses on a card that was damn near perfect. To add to the title picture The Young Bucks challenged current IWGP Heavyweight tag Team Champions SANADA and Evil of LIJ. Junior Tag tearaways Roppingi 3K tried once again to regain their IWGP Jnr. heavyweight titles.
James is joined by Marcus Green and Alex Watt discuss NJPW's big show of the summer Dominion 6.11 from Osaka Jo Hall. With the main event of Kenny Omega challenging for the IWGP Heavyweight title of Kazuchika Okada, there was high expectations for this card. Add in the Junior Heavyweight title match with Hiromu Takahashi defending against KUSHIDA and a whole bunch of highly anticipated matches it was a very special evening in Osaka.
James and Chelsea are joined by Dann and Emily Read of Pro Wrestling EVE and XWA to talk about Meiko Satomura and Kota Ibushi's up coming dates with those companies. Dann sticks around to give his thoughts on NJPW New Beginnings in Saporro where the returning "King of Pro Wrestling", Minoru Suzuki challenged "Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight title. The Tag titles went up for grabs in a three way of Killer Elite Squad, CHAOS and GBH. Juice Robinson challenged Hiroki Goto for the NEVER Openweight title and Ropingi Vice made the first defense of their IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag titles against former champs Taichi and TAKA Michinoku. WARNING: This week's show does contain a short segment that may be distressing to some listeners. As wrestling promoters Dann & Emily Read discuss some of the hate mail that they have received recently, a lot of which is based around threats of sexual assault towards Emily. It occurs at the 48 minute mark and is around six minutes in length.

In this episode we pick up pretty much where we left off in Chapter I. Genichiro Tenryu is the new AJPW Triple Crown Champion, but his feud with Jumbo Tsuruta continues. How does it end and where do we go from there are the big questions we answer in this outing. The Four Pillars of Wrestling also make their first appearances in our story and we chart Mitsuharu Misawa's life up until May of 1990. What elements of his upbringing drove him to wrestling greatness? What obstacles did he overcome? And who helped him along the way? All of these things and much more are covered in Chapter 2 of King's Road: A 90s All Japan Retrospective. In addition to the context and background information discussed, we also take a look at the following four matches: * Tenryu vs Tsuruta 10/11/89 - Triple Crown III * Tenryu vs Tsuruta 4/19/90 - Final Outing * Tiger Mask II & Toshiaki Kawada vs Fuyuki & Yatsu 5/14/90 - The Mask Comes Off * Misawa, Kobashi, & Taue vs. They even had a short-lived partnership with the WWF and promoted 3 shows at the Tokyo Dome with Vince McMahon's company. When he made his Japan debut in 1972 for International Wrestling Enterprises, it's possible that an 11 year old Misawa first became acquainted with him, though he would go to even wider exposure in Japan when he began wrestling for AJPW in 1975. He competed at the highest level for the promotion notching victories over the Destroyer and Pat O'Connor and engaging in main event contests with Jumbo Tsuruta and Giant Baba. His final recorded All Japan tour came in 1977 when he teamed with Billy Robinson in the precursor to the Real World Tag League. They finished in the middle of the pack with 7 points. A minor figure in pro wrestling history by today's standards, he was no less incredible in the ring and is highly esteemed by his peers and fans alike. Wrestling Omakase returns with an episode talking three big shows from this past weekend, and this time we're joined by two brand new, first time ever guests! Kara (@QaraKoyunlu) & Aaron (@AaronWrotkowski) join John to help them break down the two NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo shows, and then the WWE Royal Rumble. First from Sapporo, we discuss all the matches and the major happenings, including Minoru Suzuki's murder of Tanahashi and of course our boy the knife pervert's big US Title victory. Plus, we get deep into the Kota/Kenny love story and where it might be going from here. Then we discuss the Royal Rumble, a rare very good show out of WWE thanks to two awesome Rumble matches. We spend most of our time on both of those, discussing a little bit about why these two matches worked (compared to others in recent years that very much did not) and also discussing some of our favorite spots from each Rumble as well. Finally, we discuss the controversial end of the show and Rousey's introduction. Once all three shows are out of the way we've still got an interesting mailbag, including questions on whether or not it matters that the Golden Lovers reunion is NJPW cribbing on DDT, who else might be raided from joshi for WWE's women's division, whether or not more than a few guys on the NJPW roster can realistically win the IWGP Heavyweight title (and if that's a good thing or not), where we see things going for the IWGP junior tag titles in 2018, and more! It's a packed episode of Omakase that you won't want to miss!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/wrestling-omakase/donationsWant to advertise on this podcast?
