Hello EICulture Vultures. Our gorgeous Beth is ill this week, everyone say get well soon Beth!So we were all rooting for this new Netflix documentary series to give us an unfiltered and balanced look into the unbelievably problematic world of America's Next Top Model. The question is…did it? So for anyone who hasn't watched it, Netflix released “Reality Check: America's Next Top Model” on the 16th of February, and in three separate hour-long episodes it dives into the creation of the show which was hosted by Tyra Banks and then briefly Rita Ora, the many scandals that happened during its 24 seasons- or cycles, as the show called them- and how it all fell apart. We hear from many former contestants, as well as former judges J “Miss J” Alexander and Nigel Barker, and creative director on set Jay Manuel. But most controversially, Tyra Banks also appears and has her say- something people are having a lot of feelings about, and which we will get into. More TV news! A new limited series from Ryan Murphy's anthology franchise has captured the minds and hearts of the internet, myself included, it documents the intense, whirlwind romance and subsequent tragic marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. played by Paul Anthony Kelly and Carolyn Bessette played by Sarah Pidgeon, Based on Elizabeth Beller's book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the show explores their rise as a 1990s "It Couple" while highlighting the immense, often suffocating pressure of fame, paparazzi, and legacy. We give our thoughts!Thank you so much to Cue podcasts for the edit.We hope you enjoy! Today's guest is a Grammy-winning songwriter, global pop architect, and one of the most quietly influential voices shaping modern music across borders. Before the world heard her voice, EJAE spent years training inside the K-pop system — learning discipline, structure, and endurance long before recognition ever arrived. When the system didn't know what to do with her, she pivoted. Slowly. Intentionally. And built a career that would eventually be heard everywhere. Now, as a songwriter whose work spans K-pop, pop, animation, and beyond — and as an artist stepping into her own voice — EJAE represents a different kind of success: one built patiently, shaped by pressure, and defined by longevity rather than speed. And The Writer Is… EJAE.In this episode of And The Writer Is…, EJAE opens up about:The reality of the K-pop training system and what it actually teaches you about discipline and survivalRejection and why her voice didn't fit the moment — and how that shaped her writingLearning to work alone after years inside a rigid systemHow songwriting became a safer, more powerful entry point than performingThe pivot that reframed her career and led to global successAnd much more…Hit the subscribe button and turn on notifications.Every week, we go deep with the most interesting creatives in music.Follow us on socials: @andthewriterisA special thank you to our sponsors…Our lead sponsor, NMPA — the National Music Publishing Association. The lights go down, the bass hits, and we realize one screening won't be enough. We grab two nights of Stray Kids on the big screen, get our biases wrecked by Changbin's power and duality, and come away convinced: repetition doesn't dilute the moment, it deepens it. Between the close-up interviews, unit stages, and a set design that refuses to sit still, the film turns performance into a masterclass in craft and stamina. We start with something softer but equally charged: what a “final” wave of Arashi merch means when a group has soundtracked your life. Clear files, Uchiwa, and years of magazines aren't clutter; they're a living archive. That sparks a bigger idea—turn collections into a fan-led exhibit at a cafe or gallery, with donations supporting causes that align with the artists' values. Curation by the community, for the community. From there, we widen the lens. Trainee life and dorm pressure echo our own cramped roommate horror stories; proximity builds friction, but it also creates performance chemistry you can't fake. We look at how labels are stepping up legal action against malicious posts and how online “anonymous” doesn't hold in court. And when BTS's V has private messages surface as evidence without consent, we draw a line: public figures deserve boundaries, and consent still matters, even in headline season. We also track industry shifts that signal real change. BMSG moves toward a COO and a risk compliance office—proof that creativity scales best with structure. NUMBER_i taps WME for international growth, hinting at U.S. stages and maybe a tour circuit. And for KCON, we make the Boston case—great venues, easy transit, fans who show up—and map how regional stops can build lasting audiences beyond the usual LA and (once upon a time) NYC anchors. If you're here for fandom realities, tour talk, governance moves, and the thrill of getting your heart hijacked by a performance, you're in the right place. Hit play, feel the rush, and then tell us: which moment stole your breath, and where should the next tour stop land? In this edition of our arts24 music show, Jennifer Ben Brahim chats with British artist Jamie Woon, who is back with new music for the first time in a decade. He emerged from London's fertile post-dubstep scene of the early 2010s with his debut album "Mirrorwriting" and his Mercury-nominated follow-up "Making Time". His lyrics are vulnerable and introspective, blending R'n'B, neo soul and electronic sounds. After a decade away from the spotlight, Jamie is back with his album "3,10, Why, When" and is heading out on a European tour.

There was a K-pop tribute show in the SSE in Belfast on Thursday, and loads of parents genuinely thought they'd bought tickets for a “K-pop Demon Hunters” show… but it turns out it was a tribute to K-pop the genre, not the film.Since then, TikTok and social media have been absolutely dominated by the fallout - and Dave and Fionnuala are here with a handy little explainer of what actually happened, they turn it into pure chaos...

"Kpop Demon Hunters" is an American animated musical fantasy film co-written and directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, produced by Sony Pictures Animation for Netflix and animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks. Premiering on Netflix over the summer, it became the platform's most-watched original film ever, with over 500 million views, and achieved historic box-office success during limited theatrical runs. The soundtrack broke records with four simultaneous top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned double platinum certification. Widely acclaimed, the film won major honors including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Critics' Choice and Golden Globe Awards, received Academy Award nominations in the same categories, and won a Grammy for the Oscar-nominated song, "Golden." Singers Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, and filmmakers Kang and Appelhans were all kind enough to spend some time speaking with us about their work on the film, which you can listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now available to stream on Netflix and is up for your consideration for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the 98th Academy Awards. Comment on this episode by going to KDramaChat.com Today, we'll be discussing Episode 13 of Start-Up, the hit K Drama on Netflix starring Bae Suzy as Seo Dal-mi, Nam Joo Hyuk as Nam Do San, Kim Seon Ho as Han Ji Pyeong, Kang Han Na as Won In Jae, and Kim Hae Sook as Choi Won Deok. We discuss: The songs we featured during the recap: Dream by Jamie, Ransomware by Kim Dong Hyeok, Remind by Park Sejun Joanna's epic night at the TWICE concert at Capital One Arena — 21,000 fans, multi-generational crowds, and how “Takedown” from KPop Demon Hunters is bringing TWICE to new audiences in the U.S. The meaning of the episode title “Comfort Zone” and how it perfectly captures Han Ji Pyeong's three-year stalemate with Seo Dal Mi. Ji Pyeong's awkward confession while making skewers, why saying “I want to be the first person you think of” wasn't quite enough, and whether jewelry is a bold romantic move or a panicked leap out of the friend zone. Yeong Sil's iconic baseball analogy — “Two outs in the bottom of the ninth and a full count” — and why it may be the motivational speech Ji Pyeong needed to finally swing the bat. Nam Do San's three years in Silicon Valley: success, stock options, Napa wine, yachts on the Bay… and whether coding became his emotional safe haven after heartbreak. The ransomware attack on CheongMyeong Company — port 22, SSH vulnerabilities, decryption keys, and whether finding the key was even remotely realistic (thank you to our cybersecurity friends for weighing in!). The thrill of problem-solving: why Do San says he hasn't felt this alive in years — and whether returning to Korea means stepping out of his own comfort zone. The complicated dynamic between the sisters as Dal Mi (now CEO of CheongMyeong) and In Jae (대표님) maintain strict professionalism at work while still struggling to reconnect personally — especially around Chuseok. Han Ji Pyeong's heartbreaking timing yet again — arriving just after Do San saves the company — and why Dal Mi hesitated to call him during the crisis. The bromance vote over street skewers and tteokbokki outside Sandbox — and the emotional moment when the three friends decide to stay in Korea together. Our favorite lines: – “Two outs in the bottom of the ninth and a full count.” – “Don't throw a pebble into a calm lake.” At the end of the episode, Ji Pyeong confronts Do San in the elevator, gift in pocket, promotion title acknowledged (상무님!), and the rivalry officially reignites. Your noonas have been at this podcasting thing for over five years now, and that means we have a lot of anecdotes, jokes, and even patron-created puns that we reference all the tme (Kim Fin, anyone?). But we also realize (and LOVE) that we get new listeners every day who may not be up on all the Afternoona lore yet. So along with help from our patrons (who seem to know us better than we know ourselves), we deep dive the origin stories if everything from the Amy Stop Button to Lia's short-lived stint on Top Chef, to Megan's life-altering hike up Mount Washington. Oscars Month takes a vibrant, neon-soaked turn this week on We Drink & We Watch Things as we dive into the year's most unexpected Academy darling: the animated powerhouse KPop Demon Hunters. It's not every year that a high-octane, genre-bending musical makes it into the Best Picture conversation, but this film has danced its way into the hearts of critics and audiences alike. Grab our Darkness & Harmony cocktail - extra points if it has sparkles - and get ready for an episode that is as high-energy as a sold-out stadium tour. This week, we admire the stunning, boundary-pushing animation style that blends hyper-kinetic action with the sleek aesthetic of the music industry. We talk about the infectious, chart-topping original songs that have made this a frontrunner for Best Original Song, and how the film manages to balance its flashy demon-slaying sequences with a surprisingly grounded story about sisterhood and the pressures of fame. We also weigh the odds of its Oscar success, discussing whether the Academy is finally ready to reward a film that feels so unapologetically modern and fun.Whether you're following Mackenzie's Oscar tracker or just want to hear us rave about the coolest animated film in years, this is the episode for you. We're blending our excitement for the film's creativity with our usual casual banter, proving that even a quest for the golden statue can have a killer beat. This episode VIDEO is live on YouTube AND Spotify!Follow us on Instagram to get ep sneak peaks and find out what's coming next. Feel the floor shake from four very different directions as we dive into HANA's punchy Cold Night, i-dle's inclusive Mono, Ado's explosive Angel Seek, and XG's trance-laced HYPNOTIZE. We open with battle-tested fan lore—storms, stadium lines, and those one-gallon bag rules—then move straight into the music that makes all the hassle worth it. This set is women-led, genre-hopping, and unapologetically bold, stitching together punk pop grit, deep house nostalgia, and new metal chaos with one simple throughline: own who you are.Hana's Cold Night hits first, all raw guitar and chant-ready hooks that turn doubt into fuel. It's grittier than their usual polish and perfect as an anime opener, where repetition becomes a rallying cry. From there, i-dle's Mono softens the edges with a velvet bassline and English lyrics that strip labels away. The monophonic vocal design—one voice at a time—mirrors the message: show up as yourself and let the noise fall off. It's club music as a quiet manifesto, built for late nights and clear minds. Then the room tilts. Ado's Angel Seek ricochets through retro rock textures, scratchy vinyl patina, and new metal spikes, a restless sprint that refuses to color inside the lines. It's a masterclass in controlled chaos and pure catharsis. Finally, XG's HYPNOTIZE slides in with a slow burn that blossoms into 90s dance shimmer, camera-click percussion, and vocal handoffs so smooth they feel like sleight of hand. The lyrics say it outright—you're under—and the arrangement makes sure you don't want to leave. If you crave empowering anthems, club minimalism, or a full-on sonic roller coaster, this one's for you.
