Først en servicemeddelelse: Dette er den allersidste omgang Workflow, som lukker og slukker ved årets udgang. Workflow har haft besøg af mange kloge hoveder og hørt masser af gode historier. Fremtidens arbejdsliv vil fortsat udvikle sig, men vi synes, vi har været rundt om de vigtigste aspekter af den udvikling. Det virker derfor som et godt tidspunkt at slutte af. I denne sidste episode får Workflow besøg fra Future Work Lab. Future Work Lab er et projekt, som har udført små eksperimenter hos deltagende virksomheder og undersøgt, hvordan vi hver især kan være med til at udvikle fremtidens arbejdsliv. Det har blandt andet handlet om at gå tur med en kollega, droppe slaviske KPI'er og finde tid til fordybelse i en hektisk hverdag. Gæsterne er Signe Bjørg Lyck fra Future Work Lab, der har været projektleder på FWL, og konsulent og rådgiver David Karstensen, der har drevet tre af de eksperimenter, som arbejdslaboratoriet har kørt i forløbet. Der Nachlass von Siegfried Lenz birgt weitere Kostbarkeiten für die Leserschaft. Die Naturverbundenheit des Erzählers bleibt zeitlebens sanft eingezeichnet in den literarischen Kosmos, stets jenseits romantischer Verklärung und sentimentalischer Emphase. Öffentlich geehrt und von der Leserschaft verehrt wird der 2014 verstorbene Schriftsteller, der nie zynisch, grimmig oder artifiziell ironisch seine Gestalten vorführt und ausliefert, bis heute. Er schreibt mit Sympathie und Mitgefühl. Von Fischen, nicht vom Fischen, berichtet Lenz in dieser Geschichte. Von ihnen könne man nur in „biblischem Tonfall“ sprechen, seien sie doch älter als die Menschen und erst recht älter als die Angler. In den Band eingefügt ist auch eines der wenigen Gedichte von Siegfried Lenz, das 1948 entstanden ist, wie im Vorwort berichtet wird, und „zwischen seinen Vorlesungsmitschriften zum Literatur- und Philosophiestudium“ wiederentdeckt wurde. … Siegfried Lenz, 1926 im ostpreußischen Lyck geboren, gestorben 2014 in Hamburg, zählt zu den bedeutendsten Schriftstellern der deutschsprachigen Nachkriegs- und Gegenwartsliteratur. Seit seinem Debütroman Es waren Habichte in der Luft von 1951 veröffentlichte er alle seine Romane, Erzählungen, Essays und Bühnenwerke im Hoffmann und Campe Verlag. Mit den masurischen Geschichten So zärtlich war Suleyken hatte er 1955 seinen ersten großen Erfolg. Sein Werk ist geprägt von der Auseinandersetzung mit gesellschaftskritischen Problemen (z.B. Der Mann im Strom, 1957, oder Brot und Spiele, 1959) und mit dem Nationalssozialismus bzw. seiner Aufarbeitung. Zu Lenz' größtem Erfolg wurde der 1968 erschienene Roman Deutschstunde. Bis heute ist die Geschichte eines Polizisten, der im Nationalsozialismus das Malverbot seines Freundes überwacht, eine bestechende Entlarvung eines pervertierten Pflichtgefühls. Das Buch wurde verfilmt, avancierte zur Pflichtlektüre an Schulen und war international ein großer Erfolg. Der Deutschstunde folgten viele weitere große Romane (Das Vorbild, 1973, Heimatmuseum, 1978, Der Verlust, 1981, Exerzierplatz, 1985, Die Auflehnung, 1994, Landesbühne, 2009), welche Siegfried Lenz neben Schriftstellern wie Heinrich Böll, Günter Grass oder Martin Walser zu einem der wichtigsten deutschen Gegenwartsautoren machte. Sein zweiter Roman Der Überläufer erschien postum im Jahr 2016 und wurde ein großer Erfolg. Für seine Bücher wurde er mit zahlreichen bedeutenden Preisen ausgezeichnet, u.a. mit dem Goethepreis der Stadt Frankfurt am Main, dem Friedenspreis des Deutschen Buchhandels, den Gerhart-Hauptmann-Preis, dem Thomas-Mann-Preis und dem Lew-Kopelew-Preis für Frieden und Menschenrechte 2009.

Kolej połączyła nieduże, mazurskie miasto Ełk, w połowie XIX w. pruskie Lyck, ze światem. Zapewne pociągiem przyjechał tutaj David Gordon, żyd litewski, który pierwotnie szukał szczęścia w Anglii, ale ostatecznie dołączył do redakcji tygodnika Hamagid, Kaznodzieja. To pierwsze hebrajskojęzyczne czasopismo na świecie założone przez Eliezera Lipmana Silbermana z czasem stało się ważnym wydawnictwem publikującym najważniejsze prace syjonistyczne.David Gordon uważany jest za jednego z twórców współczesnego języka hebrajskiego. W Ełku tworzył nowe słowa opisujące nowoczesny świat. Potrzebował ich na potrzeby swoich artykułów, w których nie tylko snuł marzenia o państwie żydowskim czy przekładał myśli innych ludzi. Opisywał zjawiska przyrodnicze i na podstawie periodyków zagranicznych relacjonował najważniejsze wydarzenia końca XIX w.  Następnie egzemplarze Hamagid trafiały na dworzec kolejowy w Ełku, skąd docierały do najdalszych zakątków Europy i dalej, Imperium Brytyjskiego. Trafiły nawet do Chin.Synagoga i redkacja zostały spalone przez nazisów w Noc kryształową z 9 na 10 listopada 1938 r. Wtedy też zdewastowano cmentarz żydowski, na którym w 1886 r. spoczął David Gordon, wieloletni redaktor naczelny Hamagid i uznawany działacz syjonistyczny.  Ruiny synagogi ostatecznie rozebrano po drugiej wojnie światowej, a o cmentarzu przypomina symboliczna macewa w parku im. Jana Pawła II, który obecnie się tu znajduje.Podcast powstał w ramach projektu Kolegium Europy Wschodniej im. Jana Nowaka-Jeziorańskiego sfinansowanego przez Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych RP. Dr Podder is a Senior Lecturer in Defence Studies at Kings College London. Before her current role she was a Lecturer in International Security and Development at the Centre for International Security and Resilience at Cranfield University. Her primary areas of research are post-conflict reconstruction (DDR/SSR), civil wars and youth in peacebuilding. Dr Podder has undertaken fieldwork in a number of conflict states, this podcast focuses on her research in the Philippines with a particular focus on child soldiers. Dr Podder is interviewed by Dr Majbritt Lyck-Bowen with some of Majbritt's students from the MA in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding at the University of Winchester.

Practioner Series Dr Phill Gittins is World BEYOND War's Education Director. World beyond war in a global movement for non-violence. He has 15+ years' programming, analysis, and leadership experience in the areas of peace, education, and youth. He has particular expertise in context-specific approaches to peace programming; peacebuilding education; and youth inclusion in research and action. To date, he has lived, worked, and travelled in over 50 countries across 6 continents; taught in schools, colleges, and universities in eight countries; and led experiential training and training-of-trainers for hundreds of individuals on peace and conflict processes. Other experience includes work in youth offending prisons; oversight management for youth and community projects; and consultation for public and non-profit organisations on peace, education, and youth issues. Phill has received multiple awards for his contributions to peace and conflict work, including the Rotary Peace Fellowship and the Kathryn Davis Fellow for Peace. He is also a Peace Ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace. He earned his PhD in International Conflict Analysis, MA in Education, and a BA in Youth and Community Studies. He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Peace and Conflict Studies, Education and Training, and Teaching in Higher Education, and is a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, counsellor, and project manager by training. Dr Majbritt Lyck-Bowen is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Religion, Reconciliation and Peacebuilding at the University of Winchester. She is Programme Leader for the Centre's MA in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding where she teaches modules in Peacebuilding and Research Methods.
