Reel Big Fish was one of the biggest ska-punk bands in the late 90s. Their success was launched by the success of their single "Sell Out." In 1997, the song started to explode while Reel Big Fish was on tour as the opening act for Let's Go Bowling and The Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Midway through the tour, they were promoted to headliner. To this day, Scott still feels weird and kind of guilty about it. But there have been a lot more weird moments during Reel Big Fish's career, which Scott shares with us. Like the time they opened for KISS at an amphitheater, then immediately left the venue to open for Skankin' Pickle in a small Inland Empire club. We also talk about how strange it was for Reel Big Fish to travel all over the world. (He includes a particularly funny story from their trip to Russia). Not to mention the time their tour bus blew up--they were almost inside when it happened. Plus Scott talks to us about interviewing random people in Times Square about ska for the documentary Pick It Up - Ska In The 90s. We also talk about his acting roles in the We Are The Union music videos for "You're Dead / Vampire Ska" and "Make It Easy." (And what it was like to kill Brent Friedman on camera!) We also discuss what it was like to recently meet The Slackers' frontman Vic Ruggiero for the first time, the influence of Fishbone on the Reel Big Fish, making a cameo in the film BASEketball (by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone) and how Aaron Barrett and Scott's funny on-stage banter started as something antagonistic between them. Plus we dig deep into the fantastic record Cheer Up and learn a lot about "Drunk Again" and "Average Man," two songs Scott wrote. And Crumbl Cookies. We definitely talk about Crumbl Cookies. This week, my guest curator is Scott Klopfenstein, multi instrumentalist and singer for The Littlest Man Band, as well as his tenure with Reel Big Fish & The Scholars, and we're crafting the ultimate playlist of ska punk anthems, from all decades & eras! We also talk about his work on the Lo(u)ser track “No Hope” (which was featured in Clerks 3), The Littlest Man Band's latest singles “Just Like You” and “Sidle Up,” and their 2022 remaster / re-release of their 2004 album “Better Book Ends.” Also, on a more important note, after this episode was recorded, news came out that Scott is battling chronic Lyme Disease, and can use all of the support he can get. Servus Leute! This week I have long time friend singer/songwriter Scott Klopfenstein from The Littlest Man Band and Reel Big Fish, I first met him when I had just graduated high school and was on tour with him in 2002, I even got to play the song Take On Me with Reel Big Fish a few times that year. We recently got back in touch a couple years ago and we talk about how he got started, as well as how I recently filled in for his band on a week and a half run to Texas and back. It was a lot of fun, and so was this interview. The post Scott Klopfenstein- Littlest Man Band, Reel Big Fish appeared first on idobi Network.

Welcome to a mega-sized, special episode all in celebration of International Tabletop Day! In the interest of full disclosure, Andrew (as a representative of For All Intents and Purposes) will be hosting, along with Luke Turpeinen and Nicole Jekich (from AcrossTheBoardGames.net), an event at the Raygun Lounge in Seattle, Washington at 12pm on Saturday, 11 April for International Tabletop Day. A whole host of games will be there and prizes (including a signed & sketched copy of the Long John preview book!). Be there (or see if there are any events in your area)! Week in Geek: Andrew plays Cities: Skylines a spiritual (and functional) successor to Sim City, while Dan watches another old movie that was a pleasant surprise, Mad Max. AcrossTheBoardGames.Net #1: Andrew discusses with previous guests, Luke and Nicole, about how to start your own game day event. Jonathan Adler & Ethics in Gaming: Andrew sits down with Jonathan Adler (aka The King of the Nerds) and discusses how people play games, and how its not always necessarily done in the interest of winning, and what this type of gameplay says about the players. AcrossTheBoardGames.Net #2: Andrew, Nicole, and Luke talk about what their "hot" game is at the moment: Argent: Consortium and Skulldug! Question of the Geek: Have you ever played a game "wrong"? Leave your answer as a comment on the page for this episode at forall.libsyn.com. You may also leave your answers--and join in on the conversations--at the official Facebook and Google+ pages. You may also e-mail us your answer, as well as any other comments, questions, or concerns, at forallpod [at] gmail.com. For all intents and purposes, that was an episode recap. Happy Tabletop Day! Having discovered the first clue to the mystery of Spring Crescent, and rapidly retreating, the gang devises a plan to investigate further: they’ll get un-grounded, and go BACK TO SCHOOL. Naturally, there are a few objections. But they are silenced by the prospect of the annual Spring Crescent Fun Fair, an occasion that promises at least the approximation of Fun and Fairs. Will the kids succeed in their investigation, or will the looming threat of mediocre fun stagnate them all night?
