A look at Satanism and humanism, their similarities and more importantly their differences. Though to do that, we'll have to first unpack some bigger topics, such as what makes a religion a religion in the first place. Also, some listener mail about Satanists and social media, as well as Satanic baptisms. 00:00 - Intro 01:21 - The Satanic Bible: "Humanism is not a religion" 02:27 - Satanism is a religion. Non-theistic religions exist. Yes, really. 05:16 - Atheism is not a religion. Neither is monotheism. 06:18 - Dogma: Why the Boy Scouts is not a religion 08:32 - The Dogma of Satanism 10:44 - What do we mean by "Humanism" / Renaissance humanism 13:27 - Secular humanism 15:33 - Similarities: Atheism and Freethought 17:24 - How Satanism and secular humanism differ (myth of "The Greater God", etc.) 29:09 - Satanists on (or aren't on) social media 33:40 - Satanecdote: Spam from da Hood 35:35 - Getting a Satanic baptism 40:22 - Bill M. is Marq Torien?

Let's set the stage. It's 1988. The airwaves are buzzing with the high-octane sounds of Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, and Bon Jovi. MTV is our go-to for the latest music videos, and hip-hop is making serious waves with N.W.A. and Public Enemy dropping game-changing albums. We're quoting Die Hard, laughing at Beetlejuice, and tearing up at Rain Man. TV's got us hooked on Roseanne and The Wonder Years. The Berlin Wall is still up, and the Cold War is real, but there's a rebellious buzz in the air.Does this album bring back good vibes?

On the 41st Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1988 self titled debut album, "BulletBoys" BulletBoys were led by trio of ex-King Kobra members, guitarist Mick Sweda, bassist Lonnie Vencent and lead singer, Marq Torien. The band added drummer Jimmy D'Anda. The band drew a lot comparison to Van Halen, due to them signing with Warner Brothers, their first album being produced by legendary Van Halen producer, Ted Templeman and the lead singer Marq Torien's style which resembled David Lee Roth. The Van Halen influence along with ACDC was evident as well in the music. The debut album led by singles, Smooth Up In Ya and For The Love Of Money, which were heavily played on MTV pushed the album to gold status. Torien's unique look and style and his amazing voice also brought attention to the band. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous 39 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. We're back with all the latest happenings in the rock and metal world with Geekwire! Tragically, one person died and several were injured at a recent Morbid Angel show outside of Chicago. We discuss this sad situation and are sending good vibes to the people affected. Chris recently ventured to the theater to see the Neil Bogart biopic 'Spinning Gold.' Did it accurately portray Neil and the Casablanca Records story? Was it a mess of factual inaccuracies? Above all else, was it worth a watch? Chris gives his full review of the movie. Sebastian Bach recently pranked Skid Row fans by claiming a deluxe edition of 'Subhuman Race' was being released. Did this work as an April Fool's day gag? We give our thoughts. Other stories covered this week include Vinnie Vincent bringing Marq Torien on board for his next event in Nashville, Vivian Campbell professing his love for Phil Lynott, Udo Dirkschneider claiming his current band is more authentic than ACCEPT, and more. Marq's journey is much more than that of many who came to the Sunset Strip to live out their rock and roll dreams. Growing up in Montebello, Los Angeles to a music rich family, Marq's talents would be spotted early on and it would set him on a path not just in hard rock but also with Motown, R&B and Pop. We chat about his time working with El Debarge, meeting Van Halen, auditioning for Ozzy Osbourne, performing with RATT and even singing for Sylvestor Stallone on the Rocky IV Soundtrack. There is way too much for just one episode but we try our best to give you a taste of one of the Hollywood Rock Scene's most colourful characters to this very day.  This episode is brought to you by our friends Dead Skull Coffee.https://deadskullcoffee.co.uk/discount/STVIntro Music by Johnny Monaco https://www.johnnymonaco.com/ Incidental Music by Night FiresPlease visit The Straight To Video Patreon Page to find out how you can help grow this show. https://patreon.com/stvpod

Season 4  Episode 45 aired on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 11 Nov 2021.  I have to confess that I thoroughly enjoyed this episode very much.  It has been a rough week with load shedding in South Africa, we have had power outages for two to three hours at a time 3 to 4 hours a day.  There is a general feeling of burnout and a bit of high octane rock and roll was the best antidote in the world.  We kicked off in grand style with BulletBoys and a track called 'Hell on My Heels'  the immortal opening count-in from Marq Torien serving as a message to the government.  From there we continued with '80s metal in 2021 with Running Wild's latest release Blood on Blood and Mötley Crüe reminding us of how it was back in the day with 'Bad Boy Boogie' off Girls, Girls, Girls.  Then a trip back to the early '70s with Alice Cooper and Grandfunk Railroad.  And so it continued for a blistering 3 hours. It was wonderful to have 3 of the original TSORR supporters tuned in.  TSORR started on the community station Mix FM in Midrand JHB on 21 Dec 2017 and was on air between midnight and 2 am and 4 years later it is great to have some of those listeners still tuning in.  There was another amazing thing about this show,  in recent episodes, Sao Paulo Brazil and Tokyo Japan have become the top listeners of the show and I paid tribute to both.  In their honour, we checked out Sepultura and Loudness and raised a glass in appreciation of the support around the world as TSORR edges towards 15 000 listens.    There was some great SA music from blues master Dan Patlansky, a gritty track from Jasper Dan and a really excellent song by The Burning called 'Taking My Kindness'.  The Aussies got a look in as always with Cold Chisel and The Screaming Jets and Germany with a brand new track from Scorpions called 'Peacemaker', there was also the obligatory bit of Rammstein.   Check it out it was a jol.   PS, there was also the great exposure of the truth that Dee Snider is really Larry David :-)Artists featured:  Bulletboys, Running Wild, Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper, Grand Funk Railroad, Disturbed, Therapy?, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Cold Chisel, The Screaming Jets, Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, Guns ‘n' Roses, Death Angel, Iron Maiden, Greta Van Fleet, Massive Wagons, Twisted Sister, Motörhead, Sex Pistols, The Jam, Social Distortion, Dan Patlansky, Jasper Dan, Sepultura, Loudness, Kid Rock, John Cougar, Metallica, Wrathchild America, Scorpions, Mastodon, Black Label Society, The Burning, The L.A. Episode Description: Guitarist Mick Sweda joins Sonny and Steven to talk about his current band Lies, Deceit, & Treachery, as well as his time in the Bulletboys and King Kobra. Sweda is joined in Lies, Deceit & Treachery by two other original members of Bulletboys plus Last In Line frontman Andrew Freeman. We chat about some of the trials and tribulation of the music business and get into his earliest musical memories. What's The Story? We use the term "desert island" album a lot on this show. For both Sonny and I, the Bulletboys debut album falls into that category. Like so many others, I discovered the Bulletboys through the "Smooth Up In Ya" video on MTV, quickly went out and got the album, and became a fan. In addition to the Bulletboys record, I was also a fan of the King Kobra debut, and although not a "desert island" record, I was known to crank it up from time to time. So it was a real pleasure to speak to Mick, who was absolutely cool as hell and very gracious with his time. - Steven Michael Mick Sweda is a songwriter, guitarist and singer born in Gowanda, New York on April 18, 1960. After attending college on a drama scholarship and touring the east coast with various bands, Sweda moved to Los Angeles. He spent time in various musical projects, including the band Stormtrooper whose Armies of the Night EP surfaced in 1985. In 1984, he was approached by Carmine Appice to join his new band King Kobra, which had been signed to Capitol Records. Sweda recorded two records with King Kobra (Ready to Strike and Thrill of a Lifetime) and toured extensively, opening for bands such as Iron Maiden, Kiss and Ted Nugent. Sweda left the band in 1987 and started BulletBoys with Lonnie Vencent and Marq Torien, the latter of whom had briefly served as King Kobra's lead singer. The band signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1988. Upon the release of their eponymous debut, the band toured extensively opening for bands such as Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne and others, as well as headlining theaters. BulletBoys recorded two more records for Warner Bros. (Freakshow and Za-Za) and supported both records with tours before Sweda left the band in 1993. "It's been received ridiculously well," enthused Bulletboys frontman and founding member Marq Torien on the Los Angeles rock machines 12th album, From Out of the Skies. "People are ecstatic about it. I've been getting so many amazing interviews and reviews which is great because we took some risks on this record..."Bulletboys will be in Australia for the first time ever next month, a fact made even more surprising by the fact they have been a band since 1987, with Torien warning fans to brace themselves for a musical onslaught."You can expect anything and everything," he promised. "We're a bunch of naughty gentlemen (laughs). Please don't fear the villains because we're fun-loving villains and we're coming out there to turn it up to 15. We're a monstrously energetic band so get ready to see a real rock band perform. We also play extremely loud so please bring your ear plugs."One thing with a band making their debut appearance on our shores is we don't know exactly what to expect, but that also works in reverse."No we don't really," laughed Torien, "so we're looking forward to it. I have so much love for your country and the people are just amazing and passionate. I can't wait to get out there and show what this little band from Southern California can do and blow the roof off the places we're playing!"To find out exactly what risks Bulletboys took on their new album, plus the complexities of trying to outdo yourself musically with each record as well as an insight into recording with Dave Grohl plus a look into the history of this underrated band tune into the audio.Kris Peters

Guitarist Mick Sweda and engineer Toby Wright join the guys this week to reflect on 1988's Bulletboys album. Produced by the Ted Templeman for Warner Bros Records, the album reached #34 on the Billboard 200 chart. Correspondingly, the band received heavy rotation from MTV. The videos for 'Smooth Up in Ya' and 'For the Love of Money' were ever-present at the time. Bulletboys   Mick shares the story of how he, bassist Lonnie Vencent and vocalist Marq Torien exited King Kobra. With the addition of drummer Jimmy D'Anda, the band started turning heads quickly in Hollywood, including that of Templeman. Between the chops of the members and an essential image, Bulletboys were armed with plenty of ammunition. Working as an engineer in 1988, Toby shares his memories from the production side of things including an instance of him showing Mick and the guys reels from the recently-completed 'And Justice for All' album by Metallica. The production of Bulletboys took place at One on One Studios in Hollywood, CA. In this episode, Mick and Toby discuss some differences of opinion on certain aspects of recording and the lessons learned from that process. Additionally, the guys give their thoughts on working with producer Ted Templeman. Next, we move on to get Mick's memories on the songwriting process with a track-by-track discussion. Bulletboys features ten very strong tracks. In contrast to other bands of the era, there isn't a single ballad on the album. Nonetheless, the album thrives in spite of the expected with songs full of attitude and swagger. Bulletboys 1988   Although lead singer Marq Torien has made certain claims about the songwriting on this album, Mick takes time to share his side of the story. In light of Mick's stories today, it makes for an interesting picture of the making of this album. Ultimately, the past came back around to the present. Mick reformed with Jimmy D'Anda and Lonnie Vencent to form Lies Deceit & Treachery; a new band with a classic sound. Check out more on them HERE. BulletBoys burst on the scene at the height of 80s hair metal with the super sexy "Smooth Up In Ya" in 1988. During the glory days of 80s rock, they partnered with Van Halen producer Ted Templeman on three classic albums before grunge began wreaking havoc on them and everybody else. Though Marq and his band may have slowed down, they never completely went away. They've been enjoying a creative resurgence recently with their excellent comeback album Elefante from 2015 and their brand new disc From Out of the Skies which was released last week. Marq and I discuss his early days in Motown, choosing hard rock over r&b, starting out on the Sunset Strip, and what he did during the band's lean years.
