The incident occurred in the right lane as they were traveling west. Cobb Police spokesperson Officer Shenise Barner confirmed the fatalities, and next of kin have been notified. The cause of the fallen tree is not specified. STORY 2: How Technology Helps Cobb Police Catch Criminals Quicker The Cobb County Police Department demonstrated various technologies to Kennesaw State University students, including drones, bomb squad equipment, and the Real Time Crime Center. The Real Time Crime Center acts as an information hub, utilizing technologies like drones, body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, and license plate readers to respond to calls for service. The center's integrated approach enhances situational awareness and response times, as demonstrated by comparing a 2005 incident to a recent one where technology played a crucial role in capturing the suspect. Other technologies showcased include bomb squad robots and cost-effective drones for aerial surveillance. STORY 3: Police: Carjacking Led to Lockdown at KSU On Wednesday evening, a carjacking near KSU's campus prompted a nearly two-hour lockdown. Three men carjacked a 2023 Cadillac CT4, fleeing toward the KSU campus. The carjacked vehicle was located by the Cobb Police's Real Time Crime Center, leading KSU Police to issue a secure-in-place alert due to reports of an armed intruder on campus. Marquise Adams, 17, was apprehended with the stolen vehicle's keys after a foot chase, but two suspects remained at large. No shots were fired on campus, and there were no reported injuries. The secure-in-place alert was lifted at 8:18 p.m. as police continue to investigate. Contact the Cobb County Police Department with information at 770-499-4111. Break: GCPS STORY 4: Mableton Adopts Meeting Schedule, Asks for 8% Hotel Tax The Mableton City Council has established a permanent meeting schedule and location for 2024, opting for the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at the Riverside EpiCenter. Some residents expressed concerns during the meeting, requesting meetings at the South Cobb Regional Library due to discomfort with the EpiCenter's location. Councilwoman Debora Herndon suggested holding meetings at both locations to accommodate more constituents. Mayor Michael Owens emphasized the current suitability of the EpiCenter for Council needs, citing security, audio-visual equipment, and space. The Council unanimously approved the schedule, while also requesting an 8% hotel/motel tax from the Georgia General Assembly. The EpiCenter has offered free space for now, with potential costs in the future. STORY 5: What's Next for Jaha Howard? Former Cobb Board of Education member Jaha Howard has declared his intent to run for the Cobb Board of Commissioners District 2 seat, becoming the second Democrat to file with the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission. He aims to succeed Jerica Richardson, who is running for U.S. Congress. Kevin Redmon is another Democrat in the race. Howard previously served one term on the Cobb school board, clashing with the Republican majority and Superintendent Chris Ragsdale. While on the board, he sought an investigation by Cognia, the accrediting agency, but it faced controversy and was eventually voided. Howard also made an unsuccessful bid for state school superintendent. Richardson has not endorsed any candidate for her seat. The qualifying period for the May primaries runs from March 4 to March 8. We'll be back in a moment Break: DRAKE – INGLES 6 STORY 6: Former Cobb County Manager David Hankerson Dies at 77 David Hankerson, who served as Cobb County manager for 24 years, passed away at 77 after a prolonged illness. Hankerson joined Cobb County in 1984 and assumed the role of county manager in early 1993, overseeing substantial growth in the county. County Manager Jackie McMorris, appointed by Hankerson in 2013, credited him for her career and highlighted his enduring impact on Cobb's values, including integrity and hard work. Hankerson's legacy is acknowledged as significant, with plans for a feature obituary in the coming days by the MDJ. Welcome all to episode 27 of the show. In this session, I welcome Arin Baharian whom kindly took the time to call in from Southern Cali. During the day, his profession grants him full access to the deepest parts of the automotive business. During his off time, he straps up in a highly worked Ariel Atom to cast his rule over the San Gabriel Mountain range by way of the Angeles Crest Highway (California State Highway 2). We really touch on the spiritual aspect of what it is, what it means, and how to drive this road. People who frequent the run on HWY 2 have a deep connection and respect with the tarmac, which is why it's no surprise the area is filled with passing enthusiasts. Arin and I chat about the rest of his fleet, all providing a totally different experience than the other. My favorite of his is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van fully loaded for on-road living, equipped with a mobile office that gives Arin the oppurtunity to drive to the beach, or the mountains and login to work. This guy knows how to California. Tune in. Also, a special shoutout to my boy David (@bmtrdyoo, featured on #016) for connecting Arin and I! They're driving buddies out West, cheers to that!Intro & exit track provided by the talented @ArifOmariandFranklin production squad. Thanks gents

Caddy gets stood up in the third segment and Officer Phil Ritchey will have to pay for it.
At Daimler Magazine, we don’t devote our cover stories to individual model series — not normally, at any rate. However, you could argue that the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter also is way more than just a normal van. During the 25 years it’s been on the road, it has become the perfect example of its vehicle class. How did this come about? We talked with three colleagues who should know the answers.

Across the country, there’s a growing movement for something known as R2R, or Right to Repair. It’s being fought by the RV industry, which often limits just who can repair their products, usually through a tightly controlled dealership network. For RV owners, this often means that necessary repairs can take days, even weeks because many of those dealership service shops are booked solid. But what if those repairs could be done by other repair facilities, not financially tied at the hip to the manufacturer? When manufacturers own the only repair shop around, prices go up and quality goes down. Competition is better for customers, but mom and pop repair shops are struggling with unfair practices by multinational corporations. Consumers and repair pros are starting to fight back. Today, in our interview of the week segment, we’re going to talk about the R2R movement, why the industry is so against it and what this means to you, the RV owner. Plus, your comments, questions and tips, plus the RV news of the week and a great off the beaten path report. Show Notes for Episode #232 March 6, 2018 of The RV Podcast: WHAT MIKE AND JENNIFER ARE UP TO THIS WEEK JENNIFER This week finds us on the road again. We’re on a week-long roadtrip that will eventually take us to Salt Lake City Utah for a big trade show next week. But we’re taking our time getting there, trying to keep to our “330 Rule” of not traveling more than 330 miles in a single day or stopping by 3:30PM so we can enjoy the area. MIKE We can’t gIve you an itinerary because, well, we seldom have one, other than a direction. We’ll be staying at Harvest Host wineries, farms and attractions as well as any interesting state or local campgrounds or boondocking spots that catch our eye. And yes, Bo is with us on this trip, though we will be using Rover.com to find a local family that he can stay with in Salt Lake City since we’ll be working during the RV show hours. JENNIFER We can’t say enough good things about Rover. It is a free app that connects you to a nationwide network of dog sitters, doggie day care centers and boarding facilities. We often use it when we travel to different areas. The sitters are well screened and Bo seems to really enjoy his visits. MIKE Many of you have been following our travels over the past month in a 2019 Leisure Travel Van Wonder, RTB, for Rear Twin Bed. We have been interested in test driving it for two purposes: One, to see what it’s like driving an RV on the Ford Transit chassis. We just posted a video on that experience on our RV Lifestyle Channel. Overall, we have been very pleased with it, except for a few things. But we think the Transit is going to give the Mercedes Benz Sprinter a real run for the money as the most popular chassis these days for small motorhomes. JENNIFER The second part of the Wonder we wanted to experience was our comfort level with a slightly larger van than we’re used to. Leisure Travel Vans are what is known as B+ vans, a sort of cross between a Class B campervan and a larger Class C Van. Technically, a B+ is listed for insurance purposes as a Class C motorhome but they call it a B+ because it does not have the typical cab overhang you see on most Class Cs and it’s a little less boxy looking. We will have a full video review of the Wonder and our experience with it coming it this Thursday. You can see all our videos at YouTube-dot-com-slash-rvlifestyle. MIKE The show we are attending next week is called RVx and is organized by RV Industry Association and will be attended by TV dealers, RV manufacturers, industry leaders, suppliers and the media. Jennifer and I will be hanging out at the show doing meet and greets for the attendees all three days. Tuesday from 3-5PM, Wednesday from 4-5 PM and Thursday from 11AM-1PM. If you are one of those who, will be at the show, look for us at the Leisure Travel Vans Display. We’d love to say hi.

Did adding a turbo to the Miata teach Mazda an important lesson about not messing with the MX-5 formula? After a week behind the wheel of a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata from Mazdas' classic collection, Benjamin certainly seems to think so. Sami, on the other hand, can't get enough of Benjamin's weird winter tales of driving the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to the Alaskan Arctic Circle after he himself samples the new model in warmer climes. Before wrapping things up, Sami posits that the 2018 Honda Pilot is really just a fancier minivan - and is totally ok with that - and then the pair riff through Volvo's new 'languge' designed to help its autonomous bed-office-living-room cars communicate with mere human beings, as well as a BMW lightning round featuring the longest SUV name in automotive history.
This week we dive into the comments section and answer viewer questions on winter tire traction, auto start/stop systems, our favorite muscle cars, and the family hauler potential of commercial vans like the Ford Transit Connect and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. We also give our first impressions of the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry.

Every wonder how cool it would be like to spend a day at an RV dealer - the amazing stories and experiences that you would get from customers and staff alike? Well, so did we! That's what Jennifer and I experienced after spending St. Patrick's Day at Leisure Time RV in Winter Garden, Fla. during our recent March trip south. The photo is some of the people who came from all over Florida to meet and greet us and tell us their stories. See the photo of this stained glass window? That's what one of the Florida RVers had added to his motorhome. And there were lots of stories. You can hear the results of our visit during our main interview of the newest Roadtreking podcast during which we talk to customers who provide insight into WHY and WHERE they roll as well as Leisure Time staff on WHAT and HOW those same customers get - and stay - rolling. (You will never guess what the most frequently ordered part is for Roadtreks.) The bottom line? It's an important part of the RV lifestyle that helps get you out to those exceptional destinations and meeting so many great RVers like you!
