Le industrie militari volano in Borsa. Leonardo ha registrato un incremento del 11,26%, Fincantieri del 7,14%, Iveco del 5,46%, Avio del 7,22%. Stesso trend nelle altre borse europee: Bae Systems +13,2%, Rheinmetall +11,35%, Thales +13,33%, Rolls Royce +5,65%, Airbus +2,72%, Safran +2,04%. A ogni tensione internazionale, i listini premiano chi produce armi, trasformando i conflitti in opportunità finanziarie. Secondo Milano Finanza, la crescita è legata alle dichiarazioni della presidente della Commissione europea Ursula von der Leyen, che ha affermato la necessità di riarmare l'Unione europea e aumentare il sostegno all'Ucraina. L'annuncio ha innescato un aumento delle quotazioni, alimentato anche dalla prospettiva di un fondo speciale per la difesa in Germania da 400 miliardi di euro, che porterebbe la spesa tedesca per il settore tra il 2,25% e il 2,75% del PIL. Un'economia che trova nel riarmo il suo motore, con miliardi di euro che scorrono senza troppe resistenze nei bilanci delle aziende belliche, mentre i fondi per il welfare vengono sempre giustificati con la scarsità di risorse. È una finanza che festeggia apertamente ogni passo verso la militarizzazione dell'Europa. Nel prossimo vertice del Consiglio europeo del 6 marzo, i leader dell'Ue discuteranno strategie di finanziamento per l'aumento delle spese militari. Secondo Bloomberg, c'è un consenso crescente per un'accelerazione del riarmo europeo. Gli analisti prevedono che la tendenza possa consolidarsi con ulteriori fondi straordinari per la difesa. Solo in Italia sono circa 200mila gli addetti del settore e almeno 150mila fanno capo ad aziende dell'indotto, gli altri sono dipendenti diretti di Stellantis, Iveco e Ferrari perlopiù. Almeno un terzo dei lavoratori dell'indotto rischia di essere "travolto" dalla transizione elettrica, a parità di volumi produttivi, almeno stando alle stime di sindacati e imprese. Ma a complicare la questione c'è lo stallo del mercato dei veicoli elettrici e il calo dei volumi produttivi di Stellantis in Italia, tutti fattori che rendono questa fase industriale ancora più complessa. Una difficoltà che inevitabilmente interessa anche i produttori di pneumatici come Pirelli. Nonostante proprio l'elettrico rappresenti un'opportunità: i pneumatici pensati per un'auto elettrica, proprio per far fronte alle maggiori sollecitazioni, hanno una struttura più robusta e quindi anche un costo maggiore. I produttori lavorano su cintura e carcassa rinforzate, riuscendo a realizzare una struttura interna con maglie in tessuti e filamenti metallici particolarmente resistenti. El enorme Hummer se convirtió en un icono gracias a tres cosas: La Guerra del Golfo, el cine y el “cachas” Arnold Scharzenegger, que pidió una versión civil porque le parecía “muy práctico” … vivir para ver. Este mastodonte terminó fracasando. Pero unos gallegos de Santiago de Compostela decidieron hacer algo parecido, pero bien hecho… y triunfaron. Te contamos los detalles. Valen la pena. Vamos a centrar en la historia del verdadero Hummer, que luego se denominó H1 para diferenciarlo de las versiones civiles posteriores, H2 y H3…. que no estaban bien resueltas, la verdad. Volvemos nuestra mirada a finales del S.XX y al ejército norteamericano. Hasta esos años los coches que prestaban servicio en el ejército más poderoso del Mundo eran prácticamente los mismos Jeep de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, actualizados y puesto al día. Pero las cosas estaban cambiando y los norteamericanos buscaban un nuevo vehículo más capaz, para poder transportar más y mejor armamento, que pudiera blindarse por arriba y por abajo. Así que en 1983 los USA lanzaron un concurso dotado con 1,2 millones de dólares para fabricar 55.000 unidades de un vehículo denominado HMMWV, las siglas de High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Es de donde viene el nombre de “Humvee” que algunos consideran sinónimo de Hummer. Este concurso se incrementó a 1.6 millones de dólares y 70.000 unidades…. O sea, que era muy apetecible. Y se lo adjudicó AM General, creadora del original Hummer que saltó a la fama a finales de los 80 en la Guerra del Golfo. Gracias a sus participaciones en diversos conflictos el coche se hace popular y aparece en distintas películas como “La Roca”, alguna de 007, “Transformers” … y, por supuesto, en series como la popularísima “CSI Miami” en la que el infalible Horatio Caine tiene uno. También apareció en películas bélicas. Fracaso por varios motivos. El primero, la versión “civil” nace en 1992, justo cuando sufrimos una crisis económica a nivel mundial. Por otro lado, alcanza la presidencia de los USA Bill Clinton quien quizás no sea un “pacificador” pero comparado con su antecesor George W. Bush… pues, por comparación, sí. Se reduce de forma apreciable tanto la presencia de los USA en diversos conflictos como el presupuesto de defensa, que es algo más ajustado. ¡Ya estaba harto de acrónimos con palabras inglesas! VAMTAC es el acrónimo de “Vehículo de Alta Movilidad Táctico” y es un producto de la UROVESA, que a su vez deriva de URO Vehículos Especiales S.A. Esta empresa nacida en Santiago de Compostela, provincia de La Coruña, Galicia, España fue fundada en 1981 y se ha dedicado a fabricar, como bien indica su nombre, vehículos especiales, muy particularmente, aquellos destinados en la lucha contra el fuego. En 1984 aparece el primer TT, de hasta 18 toneladas, que inicialmente tiene dos versiones, una destinada a los bomberos y otra a usos militares. Sucesor de este primer TT es el actual VAMTAC. UROVESA ha sabido encontrar suministradores de calidad y recurre a motores IVECO o Steyr y cajas de cambio y transfer de estas dos marcas y también de Allison. En la actualidad hay versiones militares capaces de albergar todo tipo de armamento y para diversos usos especiales como bomberos de intervención rápida, policía, ambulancias, cisterna, entre otros. Equipan motores de 6 cilindros en línea de entre 187 y 245 CV cuentan con una eficaz tracción total permanente y encontrarás versiones que van desde los 5.300 kg a los 11.000 kg de MMA, es decir, el propio peso del coche más la carga máxima. Aproximadamente 3.000 unidades prestan servicio en el ejército español, pero no es el único, pues el URO se exporta a Arabia Saudita, Bélgica, Irak y casi otros 10 países distintos. ¿Cuál es mejor? Si alguno me dice que esta comparativa es injusta porque el VAMTAC es más moderno… pues le diré que depende. Porque el Hummer nace a mediados de los 80, más o menos al mismo tiempo que el primer TT de URO. Si es cierta una cosa: Los diversos TT de URO no ha dejado de evolucionar mientras que el Hummer a lo largo de su existencia no cambio demasiado. Por diseño y por la integración, sensata, de la electrónica en el coche, para mí el URO es un coche mejor. No es que sea enormemente amplio por dentro, pero lo es más que el Hummer. Y desde luego, tampoco es un tiro, pero es claramente más dinámico que el Hummer. Los Hummer dieron problemas de todo tipo, sobre todo debido a su elevado peso que castigaba la dirección y las suspensiones. Los motores aguantaban bien. Respecto a los URO he oído criticas acerca de los problemas de fugas de las suspensiones neumáticas y poco más. Honestamente no veo que sea nada serio viendo el éxito que tienen.

It's Tuesday and the Auto Industry is alive and well as we talk about the DOE final rules on EV requirements that are a win for OEMs. We also talk about the pending UAW vote at VWs Chattanooga plant as well as the legendary metal band, Metallica, going an an EV/hydrogen powered tour. The finalized U.S. EV mileage ratings rule brings relief to automakers, reducing the risk of heavy fines and easing the transition to electric vehicles, a significant shift from the Department of Energy's initial proposal.The Department of Energy's final rule softens its initial proposal, lowering the compliance value of EVs by 65% through 2030, allowing automakers more time to adjust.Detroit 3 and the UAW voiced concerns that the original proposal could lead to $10.5 billion in fines through 2032 for failing to meet fuel economy requirements.The revision was influenced by automaker and UAW feedback, aiming to balance environmental goals with industry realities.The EPA's upcoming vehicle greenhouse gas emissions requirements are also set to be less stringent than proposed, promoting a gradual increase in EV production.This ruling is also seen to be a boost to hybrid and PHEV salesWorkers at Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant are pushing to join the UAW, marking a pivotal moment in the union's efforts to expand its influence across foreign-owned automakers in the South.Volkswagen Chattanooga employees have filed for a union election with the NLRB, demonstrating a "supermajority" interest in joining the UAW. ¡Me encantan los vídeos de camiones! Y por lo que veo, a vosotros también. En España, cuando se habla de camiones, la mayoría piensa en Barreiros y Pegaso. Los más expertos… o los más mayores, en Avia y Ebro. Pero hay más marcas, unas cuantas, pasadas y presentes, casi desconocidas… este video está dedicado a ellas. Últimamente me atrevo más con los vídeos de camiones gracias a Joan Garriga. Joan es amigo, el tío que conozco que más sabe de camiones y responsable de la web https//www.encamion.com. Una web de visita obligada si te gustan los camiones. Y, como podéis imaginar, que me ha ayudado con el guion de este vídeo. Hemos citado Avia, Barreiros, Ebro y Pegaso. No me quiero olvidar de IVECO, que ciertamente no es española pero sí fabrica en España, concretamente en Barajas, Madrid, como quien dice al lado de casa, la gama pesada y desde Valladolid componentes y una parte de gama ligera Daily. Y tampoco me olvido de los intentos que ha habido para “resucitar” marcas como Avia o Ebro y aprovechar esa buena imagen de marca. Con la marca Avia se presentó un camión 100x100 eléctrico para reparto urbano y más recientemente Ebro presentó un atractivo pick-up con esta afamada marca, como te puedes imaginar también 100x100 eléctrico. 1. Autarquía. Esta empresa la fundó en 1943 un ingeniero militar llamado Guillermo Menéndez de Aulestia…. Militar y visionario, porque hoy día conseguiría una subvenciones dado que sus vehículos eran eléctricos. 2. Buxo. No es un fabricante, sino un “transformador” de vehículos de otras marcas para servicios especiales, en parte surgido de las cenizas de IPV, marca de la que ya hablaremos. No quería dejar de citarlos. 3. Henschel Hispania. Henschel era una prestigiosa marca alemana de camiones que en España vivió dos fases. Primero se creó Henschel Hispania, que tuvo vida desde 1963 a 1966 y fabricó el modelo 11 bajo licencia estos camiones en Terrasa. 4. IPV. IPV significa Industrias Puentenuevo Villaodrid y luego cambiaron el nombre, sin cambiarlo, a uno más chulo: Investigación y Proyectos de Vehículo especiales S.A. Inicialmente, en 1953, se llamaba MAFSA, que significa “Miranda, Alonso y Fernández S.A.” No se devanaron mucho los sesos. 5. Irizar ie Trucks. Irizar son verdaderos expertos en la fabricación de buses urbanos de mucho nivel y ahora de interurbanos 100x100 eléctricos. Han visto una oportunidad en la fabricación y venta de camiones eléctricos para servicio municipal, aprovechando sus conocimientos… 6. LAI. Para mi LAI significa Luis Alberto Izquierdo, buen amigo, gran periodista y responsable de nuestro consultorio… Pero también LAI es Lerma Autobastidores Industriales. Hay más casualidades: Esta marca, como Ayrton Senna y como yo, nace en 1960, fundada por Juan Lerma en Zaragoza. 7. Nazar. En 1958 nace la marca Nazar fundada en España por un italiano, Vicenzo Angelino Gervasio. El nombre proviene de unir el nombre de la tierra de nacimiento de su fundador, Nápoles, con el nombre de la ciudad donde se fabricaban, Zaragoza… está claro que en estos años no tenían el tema nombres muy resuelto. 8. SAVA. La marca SAVA, acrónimo de “Sociedad Anónimo de Vehículos Automóviles”, primero nació con la marca FADA, “Fabrica de Artículos de Aluminio”. Todos nos acordamos de SAVA por las furgos, pero también tuvieron su efímera gama pesada y ligera de camiones. 9. TMU. Otra muestra de falta de originalidad buscando nombre a la empresa: TMU son las iniciales del fundador, Tomás Mintegüi Urigen, quien fundó su empresa en Bilbao allá por el año 1959. Realmente era poco más que un taller de Bilbao, pero un taller con unas capacidades muy notables. 10. UROVESA. Ya que hablamos de nombres en todas, hablemos en este caso que se lo han currado un poquito más. Uro es el nombre de una raza de toro europeo que se dice que llego a pesar hasta 1.300 kg… ¡que miedo! UROVESA quiere decir URO Vehículos Especiales S.A. La empresa es moderna, nace en 1981 por un grupo de ex empleados de IPV y se dedican a vehículos especiales para la lucha contra el fuego y encuentra un nicho de mercado muy interesante en el entorno militar. Su mejor cliente es el ejército español que en la actualidad dispone de más de 1.000 vehículos de la marca. Conclusión. Voy a ser sincero: La mayoría de estos vehículos y camiones los conocía, pero gracias a Joan, he descubierto otras que no conocía y cosas que no sabía. Un gusto trabajar con él. Y eso que es “de la competencia” pues tiene un canal de YouTube que se llama encamiontv, muy interesante. Camión del día. Reconozco que tengo debilidad por el camión Autarquía, cuyo diseño, y no me refiero solo al tema de la tracción eléctrica, me parece muy avanzado para su tiempo… me parece precioso. Pero ya lo sé: Soy un friki.
