Bryan Kohberger: How We Got Here - Episode 1: "Four Lives Lost" Description: On November 13, 2022, four University of Idaho students were brutally murdered in their off-campus home, shattering the peaceful college town of Moscow, Idaho. Kaylee Gonsalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle were living their normal college lives when tragedy struck in the early morning hours. This episode introduces the victims as real people with dreams and families, explores the layout of 1122 King Road that would prove crucial to the investigation, and reveals the only eyewitness account from surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen. We examine the timeline of that fateful night, from the victims' final hours at local bars and parties to the discovery of their bodies nearly eight hours later. The episode details how a knife sheath left at the scene would become the key piece of evidence, containing DNA that would eventually lead investigators to their suspect. We also explore how this unprecedented crime transformed a community where violent crime was virtually unknown, setting the stage for one of Idaho's most complex murder investigations. Over 3,300 federal personnel have been deployed for search and rescue, with 50,000 workers from across the U.S. and Canada aiding in power restoration. FEMA is also coordinating the delivery of essential supplies, and medical teams are on the ground to address emergency health needs.
