We all have this idyllic vision of our family holiday with chestnuts roasting on an open fire while drinking eggnog and laughing in our Christmas sweaters. Now let's be real, that only happens in the movies. Inevitably someone says something offensive about politics, insults the meal or gives a present that's wholly inappropriate. When things take an awkward turn, here are a few ways to redirect the conversation to safer ground. AT YOUR OFFICE POTLUCK, YOU'RE STUCK IN A CONVERSATION WITH THE MOST BORING PERSON IN THE OFFICE WITH NO RESCUE IN SIGHT They have to be passionate about something – pets, travel, their stamp collection or a good cause. Like John Cena, whose heart is bigger than his biceps. The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) wrestler's mantra is “Never Give Up” and that's what he's told the countless Make-A-Wish kids he's met with. There are so many moments to make you smile like the time he had a tea party with one Make-A-Wish visitor, while decked out in his full wrestling regalia. Because of the orchestrated nature of his sport, he's even gone as far as to weave certain moves requested by the kids into his “performance” during a matchup. TINY UNIFORM, BIG HEART The holidays are a time of year to give, and no one gives more than these five athletes who give back to their community in a big way. WHEN YOUR GRANDPA TALKS POLITICS, SENDING YOUR FAMILY INTO A TIZZY You know what's not controversial? Getting someone a gift they love. Athletes might be known for their moves on the field, but their gift giving abilities are their hidden talent. How about a parka that dispenses Skittles, an Audi A7 or a handwritten note? HERE'S HOW ATHLETES SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER IN THE LOCKER ROOM YOU WERE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY BUT NOW THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ADVIL IN THE WORLD TO STOP YOUR HANGOVER. Keep yourself in the game by trying this recovery routine. Former NBA (National Basketball Association) player Amare Stoudemire was known for bathing in red wine to help his post-game recovery so it's no surprise that the former member of the Phoenix Suns and Israeli citizen created his own kosher wine. WHEN YOU PUT ON YOUR BIG FAKE SMILE BECAUSE YOU RECEIVED YET ANOTHER PAIR OF UNDERWEAR Be a good sport because it's time for college football bowl game season. If you're not one of the four teams playing for a chance at the National Championship (Cincinnati, Michigan, Alabama and Georgia), a bowl game is like a participation trophy but with great TV exposure and gifts. The most memorable bowl game names this season roll off the tongue like the Cheez-It Bowl, TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and the inaugural Jimmy Kimmel Bowl LA Bowl. And yes, there used to be a game called the Salad Bowl. Want to know more about the topics addressed above or simply avoid awkward conversations year-round? Way better than coal in your stocking...... 1. Von Miller is known for dishing out heart-stopping hits as one of the longest-tenured defensive players in the NFL (National Football League). But he still has a soft spot for his opponents. Before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams, Miller gifted an autographed bottle of wine, featuring an image of his signature eyewear and a handcrafted thank you note, to every player in the AFC West. (The NFL has two conferences, with one being the American Football Conference). Miller sent out a total of 289 bottles and made sure to include players on practice squads and the injured reserve list. 2. Truly a gift from the heart. For years Peyton Manning wrote handwritten notes to athletes and sports figures he admired. He spent his off-season writing to the people on this list, usually after they reached a milestone or retired. He would note the person's respect for the game along with his notes of best wishes. 3. Quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Trevor Siemian have a sweet spot for their linemen. Flacco, who was a backup QB at the time, bought his linemen $2,000 slushie machines for the holidays one year, because why not? And the New Orleans Saints Siemian loved Skittles, so he purchased custom parkas for his linemen that dispense Skittles. Yes, the fur-rim hooded parkas have a button on the chest that, when pushed, Skittles arrive in a coat pocket. 4. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line is a giving group that put a new spin on gift-giving. Instead of exchanging with each other, they pooled their money to give special bonuses for staff members who might get overlooked. These people take care of them every day like the kitchen staff, trainers and the equipment team. 5. The offensive line is the first line of defense for offensive stars like running backs and quarterbacks. So it makes sense that they're gifted accordingly for taking the big hits. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson gave his linemen each $12,000 in Amazon stock when he signed his new four-year/$140 million contract. Dallas Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott gifted his linemen John Deere UTVs; Tom Brady doled out new Audi A7s and Tennessee Titans Derrick Henry, custom Pac-Man arcade games.

KIA CV PROTOTYPE SPOTTED AT FAST CHARGING: 175 KW AT 43% SOC "A camouflaged Kia CV prototype was recently seen at an IONITY fast-charging station, charging at a really high rate. According to the image, posted by Hank Scribner, the car was charging at 174 kW (569 V and 306 A) at 43% of State of Charge (SOC). Over the previous six minutes, the car received 15.562 kWh, which translate to an average of almost 156 kW." says InsideEVs: "Anyway, the 800 V batteries in the new cars from Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai, Kia and Genesis) should be really strong in terms of charging rate. Kia said that replenishing 100 km (62 miles) of range will take as little as 4 minutes (of course at optimum conditions and with a proper DC fast charger)." https://insideevs.com/news/492429/kia-cv-prototype-spotted-fast-charging-175kw/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=RSS-all-articles VOLKSWAGEN ID.3 TOUR 5 HAS 5-SEATS DESPITE ITS 82 KWH BATTERY "Volkswagen has introduced a new version of the ID.3 model, called Tour 5, which surprised us a little bit because it has 5-seats and an 82 kWh battery - a combination that did not exist previously. When the German manufacturer first announced the ID.3 and its three battery options (48 kWh, 58 kWh and 82 kWh), it turned out that only the two first would be 5-seaters. The larger battery version was a 4-seater (without panoramic roof option), reportedly because of the weight limitation." says InsideEVs: "It was not good news for the all-electric compact, but now it seems that the issue was somehow solved, as the German configurator offers a 5-seat, 82 kWh battery version (77 kW usable). Three ID.3 (82 kWh) versions are offered, but only one with five seats. We have no idea how the problem was solved (if the weight was the limitation) - it could be anything from higher energy-dense cells, through a slimming treatment or removal of the most weight-intense options for this version." https://insideevs.com/news/492441/volkswagen-id3-tour-5-seats/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=RSS-all-articles KIA E-NIRO TOPS THE UK’S EV SALES CHARTS Kia e-Niro tops the UK’s EV sales charts for the second consecutive month, with 757 units sold Kia accounts for almost one in five EVs sold in the UK year-to-date The Niro model family was the brand’s best-seller in February. With 1,215 units sold across all three variants (including e-Niro, Self-Charging Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid variants), the Niro family was the sixth best-selling model in the UK in February, with the fully electric e-Niro accounting for 757 of these sales. Combined with sales of the Soul EV (41 units in February, 105 units year-to-date), Kia BEVs account for almost one in five (19 per cent) of all fully electric vehicles sold in the UK so far this year. OCTOPUS ENERGY JOINS UP WITH IONITY "UK energy supplier and charging network operator Octopus Energy has signed a roaming agreement with Ionity. Ionity’s HPC chargers in the UK and mainland Europe will be now be connected to Octopus Energy’s Electric Juice Network (EJN)." repotrs electrive: "Octopus Energy says that Electric Juice Network users will receive a five per cent discount when charging at Ionity stations. At Ionity’s standard price of £0.69/kWh, that would be £0.65/kWh." https://www.electrive.com/2021/03/05/octopus-energy-joins-up-with-ionity/ TESLA LAUNCHES NEW SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM TO ‘ENGAGE’ ITS COMMUNITY "Tesla is launching today a new social media platform called “Engage Tesla” to serve as a “home base” for owners’ clubs and Tesla’s policy team. The automaker will also be discontinuing its forum." according to electrek: "Tesla writes in the description: “Starting March 15th, Tesla Forums will become read only. To continue the conversation with the Tesla community visit engage.tesla.com.”. Engage Tesla is a new platform for both Tesla’s public policy team and Tesla Owner’s Clubs. Its goal is to create a digital home base for all of our work, and make it easier for Tesla community members to learn what’s top of mind for us, take meaningful action, and stay in the loop. We hope you’ll join us in getting involved.”" https://electrek.co/2021/03/05/tesla-launches-new-social-media-platform-engage-community-promote-policies/ TESLA NOW ACCEPTING REIMBURSEMENT REQUESTS FOR EMMC REPLACEMENTS "Late last year Tesla announced it would begin offering Model S and Model X owners free replacements of their eMMC (embedded MultiMediaCard). The memory chips were included in vehicles built prior to 2018 and would eventually fail as it was too small for its intended purpose." according to Drive Tesla Canada "Fortunately owners who had already paid out of pocket for the replacement were told at the same time they may be eligible for reimbursements, and more information would come in February. They were a few days late, but Tesla has now launched a new form online for those owners to submit their information to request a refund. Tesla says to log in to your Tesla account where if you are eligible you will find the claim form." https://driveteslacanada.ca/model-s/tesla-now-accepting-reimbursement-requests-for-emmc-replacements/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tesla-now-accepting-reimbursement-requests-for-emmc-replacements FEDEX DELIVERY TRUCKS TO BE ALL ZERO-EMISSIONS ""FedEx has announced that its fleet of pickup and delivery trucks will be all-EV by 2040. The move to an all-electric fleet is part of the package-delivery company's goal to be carbon-neutral by 2040." according to Autoblog: "FedEx operates a fleet of some 200,000 pickup and delivery trucks. The company says it will spend $2 billion to achieve its goal of carbon-neutrality, which in addition to an electrified truck fleet will also involve reducing the fuel demand for its planes." https://www.autoblog.com/2021/03/05/fedex-trucks-all-ev-2040/ VW TO BUILD A ‘HIGH RANGE’ AND ‘SHORT CHARGING TIME’ EV FOR 2026 "Volkswagen is going all in on electric vehicles, and at an event detailing its even more aggressive future plans, the German automaker said that it has an electric sedan planned with a 2026 launch, dubbed Project Trinity. VW says that the Trinity sedan will set "new standards" with its charging speed, battery range, and in other technology." repoerts Car & Driver: "VW released a sketch of the Trinity, showing a sweeping roofline that resembles that of the Audi A7. In January, German newspaper Welt reported that the new sedan will have a starting price of around $42,000, which would make it slightly more expensive than the Tesla Model 3." https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a35741685/vw-to-build-ev-trinity-2026/ You can listen to all 1011 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically.

The 2020 Aston Martin Vantage is among the Cars of the Year, announced on Episode #163 of The Weekly Driver Podcast. We're back in Mike's garage for EP 21 and Matt, who was on the first couple podcasts, is back filling in for Dave who is on vacation this week. Matt kicks off the daily ramblings by talking about his early 70's wheel horse he inherited and a Giant Defy Advanced road bicycle he recently purchased. Kevin replaced the cam trays in his 135i, talks about how the Audi's are in full part out mode. Will got the tuner on his truck that he's happy with, the mini things he took to the dragon were good to go, except for a headlight. He's also getting a speed 3 transmission for his Mazda and tells a story about his neighbors submerged Audi A7 which leads to a conversation about insurance and hydro-locking the motor. Mike took a bath in transmission fluid the night before he left for the Tail of the Dragon. He put a converter in but still slipped. So he started bumping up the line pressure, which took some adjusting to get it to not slip, unless the tune is in race car mode. Then, they go over their trip to Tail of the Dragon, the Toe of the Dragon and some characters they met along the way. Show #833 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 8th June 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Welcome to new PRODUCER GRANTON SMITH Welcome to new PRODUCER KEITH A KLIPSTEIN POLESTAR 2 "What we have in effect here is a slightly high-riding, five-door, all-electric hatchback that plays the role both of mass-market leader and rival disruptor to the Tesla Model 3. The Polestar 2 will initially be launched in a single model, that’s available with or without an optional £5000 Performance Pack. Prices starts at £49,990 not including the £3000 government grant, and comes with a very long standard equipment list including a full active safety suite, a glass roof, heated and electric seats front and back, a premium sound system, active LED lights all around, 19-inch alloys , the Polestar 2 will be launched with a 400bhp electric powertrain, all-wheel drive and single high-standard specification in order to rival mid-level Model 3s." says evo.co.uk: "The model we’re driving today includes the Performance Pack, which brings high-end Öhlins dampers and a chunky Brembo brake package to the party, amongst other equipment upgrades, but the question of what the Polestar 2 actually is here is less relevant than the big one facing it. Consider this Volvo interior 2.0 – excellent build quality, materials are mostly excellent and the new Android-based tech is top-notch." https://www.evo.co.uk/polestar/202863/polestar-2-performance-pack-review-verdict-specs-and-prices TESLA BEGINS MODEL Y HEAT PUMP NOISE CANCELLATION RETROFITS "Tesla has started retrofitting an acoustic blanket over the Model Y’s heat pump to reduce the amount of noise it produces. Covering the Model Y heat pump was a suggestion made by Sandy Munro during his teardown of the Tesla SUV crossover. According to TSLA supporter @hwfeinstein, a Tesla Mobile Service ranger came to his house to retrofit his new Model Y with an acoustic blanket." reports Tesmanian: "it seems that Tesla has started retrofitting Model Y heat pumps with acoustic blankets if requested by owners. In a follow-up comment, the Model Y owner referenced someone whose Tesla crossover was already equipped with an acoustic blanket. So it appears that acoustic blankets now come standard with newer Model Y units. So people who received one of the Model Y vehicles from the Fremont Factory’s first batch may need to request an acoustic blanket retrofit " TESLA HIRES GUY BEHIND APPLE PAY TO LEAD SUPERCHARGER EXPERIENCE. WHAT YOU WANT TO IMPROVE? "Tesla has hired the product manager behind Apple Pay to lead the Supercharger experience. Yesterday, Michael Rihani announced on LinkedIn that he left his position as senior product manager for Apple Card and Apple Cash at the Cupertino, California, company to join Tesla as the new product manager for “Supercharger User Experience and Strategy.”" writes electrek: "With strong increases in sales in many markets, Tesla owners are experiencing some long wait times at Supercharger stations in places like Los Angeles and the Bay Area." https://electrek.co/2020/07/08/tesla-hires-guy-apple-pay-lead-supercharger-experience/ JAGUAR EV-TYPE: TRADEMARK FILING HINTS AT ELECTRIC F-TYPE SUCCESSOR "Jaguar has registered to trademark the name Jaguar EV-Type, further fuelling speculation that the brand’s next sports car will be electric. The trademark, which is still pending according to the WIPO global brand database, was first applied for in mid-February." reports Autocar: "The name EV-Type appears to be a reference to the iconic Jaguar E-Type sports car of the 1960s and 1970s. This, along with the fact that the only Jaguar model still using the ‘Type’ suffix is the F-Type, adds considerable weight to the assumption. One stumbling block would be the need to spend big on developing a bespoke platform for an electric sports car, although this issue could be helped if Jaguar Land Rover extends its budding collaboration with BMW." https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/jaguar-ev-type-trademark-filing-hints-electric-f-type-successor LOTUS PLANS TO OBLITERATE THE BUGATTI CHIRON "The Lotus Evija, the 2,000-horsepower electric flagship that will pioneer the next-generation of sports cars from the automaker, is not targeting low-speed acceleration. Lotus wants its car to beat the supercars where they thrive—closing in on 200 mph as fast as possible." says Jalopnik: "Gavin Kershaw, test driver for Lotus, spoke to Top Gear about the work going into the electric Evija supercar, and the sort of performance benchmarks it’s being compared to. Apparently, Lotus is really concerned with destroying Bugatti’s 0-186 mph acceleration in just 12.4 seconds and they claim they can shave the time all the way down to just 9 seconds." He said: "“I’ve driven some of the Formula One cars - even the T125 with 1,000 horsepower-per-tonne - and they’re quite brutal. This has got such strength and growth – it’s a bit like going up the runway where you’re pushed back in your seat and held there. It’s a lovely sensation.”" https://jalopnik.com/lotus-plans-to-obliterate-the-bugatti-chirons-12-4-seco-1844283764 MERCEDES-BENZ CONFIRMS 100 KM/62 MILES OF ELECTRIC RANGE FOR NEW S-CLASS PHEV "Mercedes-Benz is slowly revealing bits of its all-new S-Class model, codenamed W223. the plug-in hybrid variant will have a claimed electric range of 100 kilometers or 62 miles." according to InsideEVs: "Mercedes does currently sell a plug-in hybrid model with a claimed range of almost 100 km (62 miles), the GLE350de. It’s a diesel PHEV with a maximum claimed electric range of 99 km (61 miles) thanks to a 31.2 kWh battery pack. We don’t expect the new S-Class PHEV to have this diesel-electric system, but it will probably share its battery with the plug-in GLE." https://insideevs.com/news/432683/mercedes-s-class-phev-100km-62miles-range CHINA: TESLA SOLD* ALMOST 15,000 MIC MODEL 3 IN JUNE Made-in-China (MIC) Tesla Model 3 sales in China surged in June in the end-of-quarter rush, reaching its all-time high of almost 15,000*. The number of 14,954 provided by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), via Reuters, is some 35% better than in May. * CPCA reports wholesale shipments, not registrations/deliveries." reports InsideEVs: "Moneyball reports also that in June, Tesla held some 23% of all-electric car segment - as the total CPCA's wholesale shipments stood at 67,000 BEVs" EV MAKER LUCID WILL HAVE NATIONWIDE SERVICE NETWORK, 20 STORES OPEN BY LATE 2021 "Ahead of an official reveal and full details for the Lucid Air electric luxury sedan—due to be shown and detailed on September 9—California’s Lucid Motors has offered more detail about how it plans to sell and service the Air and other future models." says Green Car Reports: "On Wednesday, Lucid announced plans to open 20 retail stores—called Lucid Studios—by the end of 2021. In addition to the Silicon Valley Studio at Lucid’s Newark, California headquarters, an initial round of eight locations due to open in 2020—prior to first deliveries in early 2021—will be in Beverly Hills, Century City, and San Jose, California; Miami and West Palm Beach, Florida; Manhattan, New York; and Tysons, Virginia." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1128777_lucid-nationwide-service-air-electric-car-20-stores-open-by-late-2021 2021 AUDI A7 55 TFSI E PLUG-IN HYBRID PRICED AT $75,895 "The 2021 Audi A7 55 TFSI e PHEV slots into the A7 lineup as the fuel efficient detour between the standard, 48-volt mild-hybrid A7 and the amped-up S7. Audi figures all A7 PHEV models could claw back as much as $6,712 in federal tax credits. As a result, you could actually get an A7 PHEV Premium Plus for less than a mild-hybrid A7 Premium, after the federal tax credit." says Autoblog: "its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is bolstered by an electric motor tucked between the engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric motor is fueled by a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the rear load floor. The deal, done through Bacon’s private investment vehicle Moore Strategic Ventures LLC, values Fisker at more than $1.6 billion" according to Bloomberg: "Fisker has said his latest namesake car will be offered at a lower price than Tesla’s current offerings by outsourcing production to larger conglomerates. Fisker is yet to announce any partnership to manufacture the vehicle." https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/louis-bacon-backed-fund-invests-50-million-in-ev-maker-fisker/ar-BB16usPL [mention for Premium Partners] You can listen to all 832 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. TESLA MODEL Y PRODUCTION TO START IN Q1 2020 (UNOFFICIAL LEAK) From Chanan at CleanTechnica: "Originally, the Model Y was supposed to start shipping in “late 2020”. Currently, Tesla’s website says new orders will ship in Q1 2021. However, according to an anonymous source with a proven and reliable track record, Tesla is about to accelerate its plans and start production in Q1 2020 at its Fremont factory. (We’ve also received the same information independently through a reliable second-hand source.). The Model Y will launch with the Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD) trim, according to this source, and Tesla will release the Standard Range Plus (SR+) version once production has been ramped up and the Model Y SR+ has a large enough gross margin. Another fun little tidbit of technical information we have been told is that the Model Y will indeed use the new revolutionary flex-cable circuitry that reduces the length of wires needed throughout the car and also gives every component a redundant connection to the battery and the computer. This makes it possible for robots to install more of the “guts and veins” of the car and cut down on the manual labor involved in installing cables. As Elon Musk has said multiple times, robots suck at placing normal cables into the vehicle." https://cleantechnica.com/2019/10/15/breaking-tesla-model-y-production-to-start-in-q1-2020-unofficial-leak/ NEW PORSCHE MACAN EV TO GET TAYCAN PLATFORM AND TECH "first revealed by Autocar in October 2018. The new model will feature an entirely different bodystyle from the existing Macan to reflect its status as a reinvented model for the brand." says Ricahrd at Autocar: "Speaking to Autocar at the recent Frankfurt motor show, Porsche’s director of SUVs, Julian Baumann, confirmed that the existing, internal combustion-engined Macan will remain on sale alongside the new Macan during a transitional phase. The offering will broadly mirror that offered by the Taycan/Panamera duo. The electric Macan will arrive in 2021 and initially be a high-performance model in the mould of the Taycan, carrying the same Turbo badging to identify it as the top-of-the-range version. The current Macan will be offered alongside it partly because “some customers are not ready for EVs,” said Baumann. “So there will be two different cars.”" https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-porsche-macan-ev-get-taycan-platform-and-tech BASE PORSCHE TAYCAN HAS MORE POWER THAN A 911 GT3 "The Taycan 4S will be available in two battery sizes, but it's the larger 93.4 kWh two-deck 'Performance battery Plus' Porsche has detailed online. According to the Instagram post and a subsequent press release, the large-battery Taycan 4S will boast a peak output of 563 hp. Sure, that's nearly 200 hp less than the Turbo S. Even the standard-battery 4S gets decent power though, with a 79.2 kWh single-deck Performance battery giving it 523 hp in overboost state, meaning the cheapest Taycan money can buy still has more power on tap than a Porsche 911 GT3." https://carbuzz.com/news/base-porsche-taycan-has-more-power-than-a-911-gt3 2021 AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK SPIED UNCOVERED "Audi teased a camouflaged Sportback variant of the 2020 Audi E-Tron earlier this year. We expected we would see the car uncovered pretty soon after, but one of our spy photographers has caught it undisguised before Audi could reveal it." writes Joel at Autoblog: "It looks pretty much the way we expected. The upright rear of the E-Tron has been exchanged for a sloping fastback. The greenhouse looks quite a bit like the Audi A7 with a large rear quarter window. It also has fairly prominent roof rails that help maintain the E-Tron's crossover image. Everything south of the window line looks to be carry-over from the regular E-Tron. Mechanically, the E-Tron Sportback should be identical to the traditional hatchback version. That means two electric motors, one at each end, making 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque. Range will probably be close to the current model's 204 miles. We expect the official unveiling of the Sportback to come by the end of the year, possibly at the LA Auto Show." https://www.autoblog.com/2019/10/11/2021-audi-etron-sportback-spy-photos TESLA MODEL S PLAID P100D+ SPIED AT NÜRBURGRING "It appears that two Tesla Model S Plaid P100D+ prototypes have returned to the Nürburgring. Spy shots of the two vehicles acquired by Teslarati depict the two Model S doing runs around the iconic track with renewed ferocity." reports Joey at Teslarati: "The “Plaid” Model S that Tesla brought to the Nürburgring this time around were vehicles that had notable differences compared to the two units that took on the German racetrack last month. While the vehicles featured the same wide body kit, large air intake at the front, a rear spoiler, and track-optimized wheels and tires, the two Plaid Model S vehicles that were recently sighted feature new air vents on the front fenders. A blue Plaid Model S prototype is even fitted with a rear diffuser." https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-s-plaid-p100d-spy-shots-nurburgring-images/ JCB SECURES FLEET DEAL FOR NEW ELECTRIC DIGGER From thecontructionindex.co.uk: "A-Plant has bought a fleet of 10 of the 19C-1E model in a deal worth more than £350,000. As part of this latest round, GM has promised to build an electric pickup truck at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which GM had previously said it would shutter. While this would be good news for the UAW on the surface, a new EV line would likely not fully utilize the existing plant space, meaning GM would not be able to employ as many union workers there as it had in the past." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125520_gm-offers-to-make-electric-pickup-in-detroit-as-uaw-pushes-for-more-us-made-gas-vehicles QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… How can we make up for the lost revenue from taxing fossil fuels? How different is the new 2019 Audi A7 from the model it replaces? How strong does it stand next to the growing class of four-door luxury coupes that it once ruled? Sami has the scoop after driving the A7 for two days on the dusty streets of Johannesburg. Benjamin counters the South African sun with a week spent on snow and ince in the BMW i8, a hybrid that is surprisingly competent when the temperature drops, and a supercar that doesn't seem to mind plowing through the white stuff. Also, Sami fades in and out of consciousness throughout the episode, which was recorded a mere hour after he deplaned from a solid day spent traveling.
