Liz is CEO and chief sales strategist, Regarding Sales; Dave is a speaker, #MiracleOnTheHudson survivor, and publisher of "Moments Matter" magazine; Brynne is CEO of Social Sales Link and host of the Making Sales Social podcast. The panel talked about strategies for IRL and online networking, introvert versus extrovert networking, and more. Everyone in the book is a friend, friend of a friend, someone she previously interviewed, or all of the above. Brynne introduced Deb to Liz and also to Larry Levine, who introduced Deb to Dave. They all have secrets featured in "52 Secrets." Goals - Brynne: Go through your lists of people - and business cards - and connect with them on LinkedIn. Liz suggests, "I can't believe we are not connected," can be the first email - Liz: Make one list of who you want to meet - types/titles/names - and another of where they would be, so you can meet them - Dave: Make your list of Top 20 - people you want to reach out to once a month - and Farm 40 - people you check in with once a quarter. Then, do the outreach; they can be calls, messages, or emails Final Thoughts - Dave: Find your whos for your hows (this is Dave's tip in 52 Secrets) - Liz: Just do it, even if you are uncomfortable. If you don't say, "Hello," you do not know who you are missing - Brynne: Find your next best friend, because that's what's networking can do for you *Note: Liz and Brynne originally met at a conference years ago and now are BFFs Learn More About: Liz Heiman: RegardingSales.com Dave Sanderson: DaveSandersonSpeaks Brynne Tillman: AskSSL.ai Debra Eckerling: TheDEBMethod.com/blog 52SecretsBook.com Learn more about your ad choices. Ten years ago, the world of aviation was flabbergasted by an event that was later named the "Miracle on the Hudson." That day, two airline pilots had to use the only runway they could safely reach for an emergency landing - the narrow expanse of the Hudson River in New York City. Besides the two pilots, there were 150 passengers and three cabin crew members on board the plane. It's shocking how fast something so life-altering and scary can happen. One moment the pilots fill their jet with fuel, and the plane takes off, and two minutes later, it loses all the engine power and is about to drop out of the sky. How could such a critical situation not take any human lives? Let's figure it out. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

How do you say thank you to the man who saved your life? On this day 14 years ago, Flight 1549 crash-landed in the Hudson River. Captain Sully was in the pilot's seat, and Ric Elias was in Seat 1D.In this special episode, Ric and Captain Sully reflect on their experiences of the “Hudson Miracle” from both sides, and how it's changed both of their lives forever.More Info:As a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and an airline pilot for 30 years, Capt. Sullenberger has always been passionate about safety, leadership, risk management, and crisis management. Given a greater voice after his historic, successful Hudson River landing in 2009, he has felt a deep obligation to use his voice for good. He most recently directed his efforts towards safety in global air travel, serving as the U.S. Ambassador and representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization, a United Nations Specialized Agency. But for many years, Capt. Sullenberger has been vocal about safety not just in the aviation and medical fields, but across all industries. He has testified before congressional committees many times and lent his expertise to shaping safety legislation. And he speaks in defense of democracy and American values. In 2009, with more than 20,000 hours of flight time, Capt. Sullenberger – along with his First Officer Jeff Skiles - safely guided US Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency landing in the Hudson River, in what has become known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.” In terms of total combined years of flying since they had become pilots, Capt. Sullenberger and First Officer Skiles had 75 years' experience at that time. And in terms of total years of just airline flying experience, they had a combined 50 years, so they were an extraordinarily experienced crew. Hosted on Acast. This is an auspicious week in aviation history. 13 years ago, on January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320, on a flight from New York City's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina, struck a flock of birds shortly after take-off, losing all engine power. Unable to reach any airport for an emergency landing due to their low altitude, pilots Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan.[1] All 155 people on board were rescued by nearby boats, with only a few serious injuries.   This water landing of a powerless jetliner with no deaths became known as the Miracle on the Hudson,[2] and a National Transportation Safety Board official described it as "the most successful ditching in aviation history".[3] The Board rejected the notion that the pilot could have avoided ditching by returning to LaGuardia or diverting to nearby Teterboro Airport. Everyone knows this story. It was dramatized in the 2016 film Sully, starring Tom Hanksas Sullenberger.Today we have 5 amazing guests who are intimately involved in this story, Vallie Collins, David Sanderson, Ben Bostic, Stephen Mallon and Paula Paul.   Thanks for listening to the show!
