Week 2 | The King Has Come: Peace

"Christmas is DYNOMITE"

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 8, 2025 49:23

In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

Phil Mason presents a grace-based paradigm of giving that reflects the grace theology of sowing and reaping. Heaven's economy is established exclusively upon giving. The more we sow, the more we reap. Conversely, the less we sow, the less we reap. Under the reign of grace we are invited to experiment and put this approach to the test. (NLT) “If you do,” says the Lord, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” (Malachi 3:10 NLT) This is the best deal going! All we need to do is switch over to heaven's economy by allowing the Lord to establish His heart of generosity in us.

In the final installment of our Kingdom Economics series, we brought it all home with one foundational truth: Jesus is your net worth. This episode isn’t just a recap—it’s a powerful conclusion that calls us out of the bondage of worldly systems and into the liberating reality of union with Christ. We revisited what the Kingdom of God actually looks like in contrast to the world’s economy and dove deep into the invitation to live from the inside out—governing wealth, not being governed by it. This conversation is about more than mindset shifts. It’s about reorienting your identity around heaven’s economy—where worth, peace, and provision flow from union, not striving. In this episode, we explore: * The foundational scriptures of this series, including 1 Corinthians 2:12 and Ephesians 1:3, and what they reveal about our inheritance in Christ * How mammon sneaks in as a counterfeit source of peace, stability, and identity—and how to dethrone it * What it means to live as a governor of creation and money, not a slave to it * Why the present moment is the only place we can abide in Christ, and how to tune into divine flow through Matthew 6:33–34 * The practical path of surrender—offering your body, time, and being as a living sacrifice and channel of Kingdom provision (Romans 12:1, Mirror Translation) This isn’t just a teaching—it’s a call into deeper intimacy, full surrender, and supernatural provision that flows through us, not just to us. Whether you’ve followed the whole series or are jumping in now, this final episode lays the foundation for a radically free, abundance-driven life in Christ. Let’s keep walking in this revelation together. Send us a textWhat does true fairness look like through God's eyes? Join us as we dive deep into the parable of the vineyard workers, where those hired at different times all received the same wage. This seemingly unfair situation reveals profound truths about salvation, grace, and divine justice. We explore Jesus' powerful response to accusations of unfairness: "Is your eye evil because I am good?" This question turns the mirror back on us, challenging our human understanding of justice and revealing our dependency on God's sovereign goodness. Despite tragedy, suffering, or confusion in our world, we can trust that God remains eternally good. The conversation reveals how the equal wage represents salvation itself - Christ's blood shed for all believers regardless of when they came to faith or how many sins they've committed. One participant beautifully observes, "His one death, his one burial, his one resurrection was enough to justify 10,000 worlds." The immensity of this sacrifice transcends human calculations of worthiness. We also tackle the challenging question of why believers continue asking for forgiveness when Christ has already forgiven all sins - past, present, and future. Is this doubt or simply acknowledgment of our ongoing need for grace? The discussion provides thoughtful perspectives that will enrich your understanding of confession and relationship with God.Throughout the episode, we emphasize the importance of staying teachable, bearing one another's burdens, and finding fellowship with other believers in a world where Christians often feel isolated. Join us for this enriching conversation that will deepen your faith and challenge your perspective on God's goodness and grace.Support the show

Send us a textThe Parable of the Laborers in Matthew 20 confronts us with a profound spiritual truth that many modern Christians struggle to accept - God's absolute sovereignty over His creation. When Jesus tells this story of workers hired at different hours yet paid equally, He's challenging our deepest assumptions about divine fairness and human entitlement.Through a careful reading of the biblical text, we explore how the vineyard owner's question - "Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own?" - serves as the theological cornerstone of the entire parable. This simple yet profound question cuts through centuries of human reasoning and forces us to confront a God who operates according to His own perfect wisdom rather than our limited notions of fairness. The complaint of those who worked all day reflects a mindset prevalent in contemporary Christianity. Many believers readily discuss theological concepts like predestination but recoil when confronted with God's right to choose who enters His kingdom. We've allowed American individualism and cultural concepts of fairness to reshape our understanding of divine justice, creating a domesticated deity who must conform to human expectations. This parable reminds us that salvation is never earned or deserved. The workers who labored just one hour represent those who receive salvation with minimal religious effort, yet God grants them the same eternal reward. If God were truly "fair" in human terms, all humanity would face condemnation, as none deserve mercy. That He chooses to save any of us is an extraordinary act of grace. When we properly understand this parable, our perspective shifts dramatically. Instead of questioning God's methods or demanding explanations for His choices, we respond with humble gratitude that we're included in His kingdom at all. As you reflect on this teaching, consider how God's sovereignty over salvation challenges your own understanding of divine justice and human deservingness.Support the show

Send us a textThe Parable of the Vineyard Workers cuts straight to the heart of how God's kingdom fundamentally differs from human systems of fairness and merit. Through a rich, theological discussion of Matthew 20, we explore why a vineyard owner would pay the exact same wage to workers who started at different times throughout the day—and what this reveals about salvation, grace, and God's relationship with humanity. We unpack a fascinating perspective that sees the first laborers as representing Israel under the Old Covenant. These workers negotiated their wages—"a penny a day"—mirroring how Israel entered into a covenant relationship where God said, "Do this and you shall live." In contrast, those who came later—at the third, sixth, and ninth hours—were simply told, "I will give you what is right," requiring trust rather than negotiation. This distinction brilliantly illuminates the difference between life under the Law versus life under grace. The workers who came later had to exercise faith that the householder would be fair, much as we must trust in God's goodness without demanding specific terms. Their willingness to accept whatever the master offered parallels how salvation works—not by our merit or timing, but by God's sovereign grace. The conversation tackles challenging questions many believers struggle with: How can someone who converts on their deathbed receive the same eternal reward as a person who served God their entire life? Is faith something we generate ourselves, or is it entirely God's gift? And where do we fit in the grand timeline of redemptive history? This profound teaching reminds us that in God's upside-down economy, "the last shall be first, and the first last." His grace extends equally to all who respond to His call, regardless of when or how they enter His vineyard. What matters isn't the hour you began, but that you answered when He called.Support the show

Send us a text"Why do you stand here all day idle?" This profound question from Christ's parable of the workers in the vineyard serves as our exploration's cornerstone as we unpack its challenging message about salvation, divine fairness, and spiritual passivity. The vineyard owner's encounter with those waiting until the eleventh hour reveals something distinctive about both their spiritual condition and God's relentless pursuit. These final workers' response—"because no man hired us"—mirrors a mindset many share today: waiting for explicit invitation rather than actively seeking God's kingdom. Are we similarly standing idle in life's marketplace, expecting others to make the first move in our spiritual journey?Through passionate discussion, we trace four distinct groups of laborers entering God's vineyard at different times. The first group, potentially representing ancient Israel, negotiated a specific wage with an entitled mindset. Later groups simply trusted the owner to give "whatever is right"—a profound contrast in approaching relationship with God. Yet remarkably, all receive identical payment, challenging our human notions of spiritual merit. This equal distribution of reward—the penny representing salvation—confronts our tendency to measure spiritual worth by longevity or effort rather than grace. When the early workers complain about fairness, the owner's powerful response affirms God's sovereignty: "Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?"What makes this teaching so relevant is how it dismantles spiritual pride and transactional approaches to God. The duration of our salvation journey doesn't determine divine reward. A five-year believer might produce more spiritual fruit than someone who's walked with Christ for decades. God's economy operates on grace, not human metrics of deservingness.Join us in wrestling with these challenging truths. What are you waiting for? The vineyard awaits, and the reward—full salvation through Christ—remains the same for all who respond to His call, regardless of when they answer.Support the show

Send us a textHave you ever felt like God was being unfair? When we see others receive the same blessings despite seemingly putting in less effort, a sense of injustice can creep into our hearts. This powerful exploration of Jesus' parable of the vineyard workers confronts our human expectations of fairness with the radical nature of divine grace. The heart of this conversation centers on a profound truth many Christians struggle to embrace: God has absolute sovereignty over His creation. Through examining the vineyard owner's response to complaints about equal pay for unequal work—"Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own?"—we discover how God's freedom to extend grace challenges our merit-based thinking. We unpack how this principle played out historically when Jesus arrived not as the conquering king the Jews expected, but as a humble carpenter proclaiming God's love for the entire world. This universal invitation to salvation fundamentally threatened those who believed their religious heritage entitled them to special treatment. Their disappointment parallels our own struggles when God doesn't meet our expectations. The most touching moments come through personal testimonies of how hardships transformed into blessings. One participant shares how seventeen years in prison became the foundation for profound spiritual growth, while others reflect on how their greatest mistakes led to their most significant progress. These stories reveal the counterintuitive nature of God's work in our lives—often using what seems harmful to accomplish what's ultimately good.Subscribe to join our growing community of believers who are learning to trust God's sovereignty even when His ways seem unfair by our human standards. In the third installment of the Kingdom Economics series, we dive deeper into the radical differences between the world’s economic system and God’s. We’re invited to stop simply hearing about the kingdom and start experiencing it—especially when it comes to finances. This episode is both deeply theological and profoundly practical, offering a Holy Spirit-led perspective on how we’re called to operate not from fear, lack, or hustle, but from a place of union with Christ and spiritual authority. As we chew on the Word, we begin to understand how the kingdom isn’t about striving or earning, but about receiving and reigning from our rightful identity as sons and daughters of God. Here’s what we unpack in this episode: * A powerful meditation on 1 Corinthians 2:12 (TPT): “For we did not receive the spirit of this world system but the Spirit of God, so that we might come to understand and experience all that grace has lavished upon us.” * The role of the Holy Spirit as our supernatural strategist and the key to living beyond what we can naturally imagine or reason. * A comprehensive breakdown of how the world system differs from the kingdom in over 30 areas—from striving vs. governing, survival vs. rest, and scarcity vs. supernatural abundance. * Real-life insight into how the Holy Spirit leads us out of financial fear and self-reliance and into true Kingdom provision. * Why operating in the Kingdom’s economy requires spiritual discernment, not human judgment, and how it often looks foolish to the natural mind. * The invitation to move from knowing God as “provider” to experiencing Him as our only source—sometimes through uncomfortable, wilderness-like seasons of radical trust. Whether you’re in a place of financial uncertainty, shifting from self-reliance, or ready to fully partner with the Holy Spirit in your finances, this episode offers encouragement, wisdom, and a spirit-led perspective that meets you right where you are. In Part 2 of this powerful series, we continue uncovering what it really means to operate from heaven’s economy instead of the world’s system. This isn’t just about money—it’s about mindset, identity, and union with Christ. We’re shaking off scarcity, striving, and separation thinking to embrace a reality where provision, miracles, and abundance flow naturally through intimacy with God. In this episode, we unpack: * The two systems we live between: the world system based on toil, merit, and scarcity—and the Kingdom system rooted in union, inheritance, and abundance. * Our foundation scripture, 1 Corinthians 2:12, revealing that we've received the Spirit of God so we can understand and experience all that grace has already lavished upon us. * Why governance—not striving—is our role in the Kingdom, and how Jesus modeled supernatural provision by blessing what He had. * The powerful reality that we are joint heirs with Christ—not orphans or slaves—but royalty with a divine inheritance. * How to override material lack with spiritual authority through hearing and doing what the Father is saying in any situation. We are not just talking theory here—this is about a new way of being. Kingdom Economics isn’t about applying the right financial principles or formulas. It’s about living in union with the Source of all things, governed by revelation and supernatural strategies, and seeing abundance manifest through the power of our words. If you’ve ever felt stuck in the world’s system, this episode is a bold invitation to shift realms and start governing your reality from your seat in Christ. Tune in now and learn how to stop surviving—and start reigning. We are so excited to launch our brand-new series, Kingdom Economics. In Part 1, we dive into the foundational idea that we have been called to govern the material realm—specifically finances—from a place of oneness with Jesus. Rather than living under the illusion of separation or lack, we explore what it means to exercise our God-given authority and operate in the endless supply of heaven. * Discovering Our True Source: We unpack how Jesus, the lawful owner of all things (Hebrews 1:2), lives in and through us, meaning we lack nothing. * Exposing the Illusion of Separation: We pull back the curtain on how the enemy tries to convince us we’re on our own, highlighting the finished work of Christ as our actual reality. * Confronting the Spirit of Mammon: Drawing from Matthew 6:24, we expose how mammon wants us to serve money. We flip the script by showing that, in the kingdom, money serves us. * Redefining Stewardship in Christ: Instead of laboring under our own efforts, we discover how true stewardship flows from union with Him—letting God’s wisdom guide our decisions. * Walking in Supernatural Provision: We talk about practical ways to renew our minds and lean into supernatural solutions when facing seemingly impossible financial situations. We can’t wait to share the rest of this series with you! Part 1 lays the groundwork for how we’re meant to function as co-governors with Jesus, and each upcoming episode will peel back more layers of what Kingdom Economics truly looks like. The final episode of this series wraps up our journey into living out God's miraculous design. In it, I share a raw and unforgettable experience of supernatural healing—my own kind of divine facelift—that reaffirms how embracing our true, supernatural identity transforms every part of our lives. In this episode we explore: * Miracles in the Everyday: I walk you through my near-miraculous healing, where what could have been a major injury turned into a stunning display of God’s intervention—proof that His supernatural touch is with us every day. * Scriptural Grounding: I lean into Romans 12:1, reminding us to “live consistent with who you really are,” because we’re not just bodies; we’re living temples of God meant to radiate His glory. * A New Way of Seeing: I introduce the idea of “single eye consciousness” (inspired by Matthew 6:22) to show how shifting our perspective from a fragmented view to one that sees unity with Christ changes everything. * Embracing Our Divine Design: It’s not just about learning supernatural living—it’s about stepping into the miracle of who we are and letting that divine spark light up every aspect of our lives. I hope you find this episode as inspiring and transformative as it was for me. If you’re ready to experience the everyday miracles of living your divine design, tune in now and begin to step boldly into the supernatural in everyday life. You were designed for it! Money is for ministry. The world, however, hands us an upside down view of money. It would have our money leading us and leave us stressed about our finances. God wants us to be free from worry and to worship Him with money; for we are owners of nothing and stewards of everything. In this sermon, Pastor Byron Ellis challenges us to ask ourselves three questions concerning our finances. Money is always a touchy topic, but take heart dear christian, we cannot out-give God. When we are faithful with little, He will bless us with more.

We all want more money, but are you managing your finances properly now, the way the Bible directs us? What are your family's economic goals for this New Year? This Alabama native, mom of 4, and 4th generation entrepreneur has some expert advice on budgets, saving, giving, what God says about money, and "kingdom economics." (3:40) Charline Oworu will be teaching free sessions on blueprints and "Financial Foundations for Building Your Year" this Saturday afternoon, January 20, at the Columbus GA public library on Macon Road. What does God and money have to do with each other? Charline describes what Kingdom Economics is, which involves financial discipline and giving to help advance His Kingdom. And there are also other tithes besides money, she says. (9:33) She also breaks down the basics of budgeting like a recipe and (14:35) talks about making small realistic goals for 2024. Maybe changes with your Starbucks purchases? Charline explains how an emergency fund and small adjustments can lead to financial peace, which can help with your physical and spiritual health too. Tell your money what to do! (20:40) God is our provider - when our motives are aligned with his - but she asks, what will you do "when the riches are released?" As a mother and as a teacher of financial classes for young people, she has quick lessons about investing in things you believe in, delayed gratification, and helping others. This entrepreneur (33:25) wants to see others prosper but she has a few specific things anyone can do to learn, improve, and get other people to know about the product or service you provide. (37:38) Charline closes our chat with more specifics on what The Bible says about money, investing, filling needs, being successful. (49:00) I close the episode in prayer.
