Summary In this conversation, Steven Kuhr and Battalion Chief Jerry Tracy discuss the various units and operations of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). They highlight the extensive experience and expertise of the FDNY in responding to complex emergencies and crises. They also discuss the formation and role of squad companies, which are specialized units that can respond to fires, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies. The conversation emphasizes the importance of training and preparedness in effectively managing and responding to emergencies. The conversation covers various topics related to firefighting and emergency response. Some key themes include the importance of backup and coordination between different departments, the impact of tragic events on changing tactics and procedures, the need for integration between EMS and fire operations, and the development of rapid intervention teams (RIT) or firefighter assistance search teams (FAST). Chief Tracy discusses various topics related to firefighting and emergency response. He shares insights on the challenges faced when dealing with high-rise fires and the importance of effective communication during emergencies. Chief Tracy emphasizes the need for clear and concise communication between different agencies and departments to ensure a coordinated response. He also highlights the significance of strategic communication in emergency management. The conversation touches on the importance of training and preparedness, as well as the need for continuous learning and improvement in the fire service. Takeaways The FDNY is the largest fire department in the United States. Squad companies are specialized units within the FDNY that are trained to respond to a wide range of emergencies, including fires, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescues. The FDNY has a diverse range of units and resources, including hazmat teams, urban search and rescue teams, wildland fire companies, and mobile respiratory units. Training, preparedness, and collaboration with other agencies are key factors in the FDNY's ability to effectively respond to emergencies and protect the public. Backup and coordination between different departments are crucial in emergency response situations. Tragic events often lead to changes in tactics and procedures. Integration between fire and EMS operations can improve overall response effectiveness. Rapid intervention teams (RIT) or firefighter assistance search teams (FAST) play a vital role in firefighter safety. Firefighters continue to face challenges and make sacrifices in their line of duty. Buildings can be 'born sick and dying,' referring to new construction, renovations, and abandoned or demolished structures. Emergency responders must be prepared for any situation. Effective communication is crucial during emergencies. Incident commanders and responders should have clear channels of communication to ensure a coordinated response. The incident process system is a structured approach to incident command that helps relieve the incident commander of micromanaging tasks. It allows units to fall into place as they arrive on the scene. Strategic communication between police, fire, and EMS is essential for a unified response. Agencies should work together to develop a coordinated strategy. The importance of training and continuous learning in the fire service cannot be overstated. Firefighters should be knowledgeable about their responsibilities and be prepared to adapt to different situations. Contact Information https://www.linkedin.com/in/jerry-tracy-6749b127/

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to an estimated audience of 32 million Americans. During the hour-long speech, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shouted at the president to mention Laken Riley—a 22-year-old nursing student who was recently murdered by an alleged undocumented migrant who had been arrested numerous times. In his response to the congresswoman, Biden mistakenly referred to Riley as “Lincoln” and called her alleged murderer an “illegal.” The “illegal” designation upset many on the far-left who claimed it was an outdated, offensive term for “new comers.” 3:15pm- During an interview with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC, President Joe Biden expressed regret for using the term “illegal” when referring to Laken Riley's alleged killer. At a campaign rally in Rome, Georgia, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called-out Biden's rebuttal—explaining that that the president should be more concerned about limiting unlawful migration rather than policing the language he uses to describe alleged murderers. 3:35pm- The sports blog Deadspin has fired all its existing staff after being bought by a European publishing company. Last year, Deadspin wrongfully accused a young Kansas City Chiefs fan of wearing blackface and of mocking Native American culture during the Chiefs-Raiders game—strategically angling a posted photo to only show half of the child's face, failing to note that the face paint was black and red (the team's colors), and that the child and his family are Native American. 3:50pm- Flashback: During a speech from 2009, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer continually referred to migrants who enter the country unlawfully as “illegal” and claimed that using terminology like “undocumented workers” shows that government isn't serious about preventing illegal immigration and/or border security. 4:05pm- Robert Bork Jr.—President of the Antitrust Education Project & President of the Bork Communication Group—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent editorial in The Wall Street Journal, “ESG, Big Labor and Starbucks.” Bork writes: “The latest comes courtesy of the Strategic Organizing Center, a coalition of unions using a $16,000 investment in Starbucks to push three labor nominees onto the company's 11-member board. All three candidates—former members of the Clinton and Obama administrations—are liberal stalwarts.” Since writing the article, the unions have thankfully backed down. You can read the editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/esg-big-labor-and-starbucks-unions-business-4ac0a85f?mod=opinion_lead_pos8 4:20pm- James Lynch of National Review writes: “House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio.) is threatening to escalate his fight against FBI director Christopher Wray if the bureau does not turn over communications related to the Hunter Biden laptop story. Jordan sent a letter to Wray on Monday explaining that the Judiciary Committee may resort to holding the FBI director in contempt of Congress to compel the release of internal communications and the names of key personnel who participated in the bureau's meetings with social-media companies ahead of the 2020 election.” You can read the full report here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/exclusive-jim-jordan-threatens-to-hold-fbi-director-in-contempt-over-hunter-biden-laptop-story/ 4:35pm- During the 96th annual Academy Awards, Oppenheimer took home seven awards—including Best Picture and Best Director. Despite Oppenheimer's box office success, Rich notes some critics are angry that Barbie didn't win—bizarrely citing its merchandising success. We are all shocked that Oppenheimer, which received a hard R-rating, wasn't more popular with young children. What kid wouldn't want a J. Robert Oppenheimer doll? 4:50pm- Molly Hemingway of The Federalist writes: “Former Rep. Liz Cheney's January 6 Committee suppressed evidence that President Donald Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the nation's capital, a previously hidden transcript obtained by The Federalist shows. Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had ‘no evidence' to support Trump officials' claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops. In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source. The interview, which Cheney attended and personally participated in, was suppressed from public release until now.” You can read the full article here: https://thefederalist.com/2024/03/08/exclusive-liz-cheney-january-6-committee-suppressed-exonerating-evidence-of-trumps-push-for-national-guard/ 5:00pm- Molly Hemingway of The Federalist writes: “Former Rep. Meaning, as you look at inflation year over year, you're adding up those numbers. You're not starting at a zero every year.” 5:20pm- Should TikTok be banned? Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 50-0 to advance a bill that would ban TikTok or force ByteDance (TikTok's parent company) to sell the social media platform to an entity removed from Chinese influence. The full House of Representatives is expected to vote on the bill this Wednesday and, according to The Wall Street Journal, it is likely to pass with majority approval. According to reports, President Joe Biden has vowed to sign the bill into law if the bill ultimately passes the House and Senate and arrives at his desk. 5:40pm- The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill that would ban TikTok—is this a step too far? Shouldn't individuals be allowed to choose which products they use? Or is the risk of Chinese leadership gaining access to American user data too great to respect individual autonomy and free markets? 6:05pm- Stephen Sorace of Fox News writes: “The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) issued a memo scolding firefighters it says brought ‘discredit' to the department after booing New York Attorney General Letitia James and cheering for former President Trump at a promotion ceremony last week, warning those who took part to protest on their own time, according to a report. Following a New York Post report about the leaked memo, FDNY spokesman Jim Long confirmed to Fox News Digital on Monday morning that chief officers went to firehouses over the weekend to discuss the events of Thursday and speak to the concerns and disappointment with the behavior shown during James' remarks.” You can read the full report here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fdny-tells-firefighters-protest-your-own-time-booing-ny-ag-letitia-james-cheering-trump-report 6:30pm- On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to an estimated audience of 32 million Americans. Join co-hosts Richard Coyne & Bill Zahller as they interview guests who left successful careers to pursue a different path on the Road Less Traveled Show! In this episode, we spend time with Tim Lyons!  Tim is a lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department.  Tim also formerly worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room of a level 1 trauma center.  Several years ago, Tim began investing in real estate to create passive income so he could leave his nursing job to spend more time with his family.  Tim has since turned his real estate “side hustle” into a growing company, Cityside Capital where he helps investors create passive income streams.   A bit more about Tim: Tim is a 17-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and currently serves as a lieutenant in the borough of Queens. Until recently, he also worked part-time as an emergency room RN at a level 1 trauma center. He brings years of real-world management and leadership experience to his real estate investment career. Tim's initial goal with real estate was to create passive income and in turn, be able to spend more time with his wife and three little girls. After partnering on a multifamily property he saw first-hand the power of real estate investing as an opportunity to create passive income and build wealth for his family. Tim started Cityside Capital with the goal of not only growing his own portfolio but also helping others realize the power that real estate investing can have in creating passive income and building wealth. Cityside Capital has partnered in over $600M million of commercial real estate assets including more than 4,000 multifamily units. Tim has also invested as a limited partner in 256 multifamily units in Texas and a large open-air retail center in Tennessee. Tim attributes his early success in real estate investing to education, investing in coaches and mentors, and surrounding himself with like-minded people. In April 2021, Tim became an Amazon #1 bestselling author in a book he co-authored with other authorities such as The Real Estate Radio Guys' Robert Helms, Jim Rohn's 18-year business partner and master marketer, Kyle Wilson, and many more, called "Bringing Value, Solving Problems and Leaving a Legacy". Tim is co-host of The Passive Income Brothers Podcast alongside his brother Greg Lyons.  The Passive Income Brothers Podcast highlights the investor journey in creating multiple streams of passive income. He sought out mentors of the game and gained knowledge through their shared experiences. Each step and pitfalls he has taken has taught him something new. But most of us with two or more  jobs are looking to start to invest but don't know how.  In this episode Tim Lyons share his story on how he began his journey in multifamily real estate. Join us and Listen in.  Tim is a 16+ year veteran of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and currently serves as a lieutenant in the borough of Queens. Until recently, he also worked part-time as an emergency room RN at a level 1 trauma center. He started Cityside Capital with the goal of not only growing his own portfolio but also to help others realize the power that real estate investing can have on creating passive income and building wealth. [00:01   -  02:29]• We welcome Tim Lyons to the show [02:30   -  05:37]• Tim's background how he started investing in real estate.[05:38    -  06:01]• The book that sparked the idea to become a real estate investor.[06:02    -  07:09]• Reflecting on changes that has to be done to have  more family time?[07:10    -  17:18]•  From triplex to Cityside Capital[19:24 - 26:23] • Why should you join a community or a coaching program and surround your self with like minded people?[26:24 - 35:09]• How I overcome the challenges of being far away from my family.[35:10 - 39:02] Closing Segment•  Asking Tim the Adventurous FourTweetable Quotes: " Education is one piece of the puzzle and I think everybody wants to have that confidence. Everybody wants to have that clarity. But without the inspired action, the next step of taking that inspired action, there's really no results. And if we needed a PhD every time that we had to make a choice or make a decision or take some sort of action, there would be a lot of indecision in this world." -Tim Lyons" If you don't know why you're doing something, if you don't hold it near and dear to your heart, if you don't think about it and almost perseverate on it every day, like why am I doing this? Why am I going to retire from the hospital making, say $30,000 a year in extra income? To go make $0 a year for the foreseeable future, until I can make a new business venture happen. If you don't have a strong why, if you don't have a strong sense of clarity, then you're not going to make that happen. -Tim Lyons Connect with Tim Lyonswww.citysidecap.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/tim-lyons-cityside-capital/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/cityside-capital-llc https://www.facebook.com/tim.lyons.712/  Until next time... Also, certain institutional investors require a substantial portion of the equity in a deal such as 80 to 85%.Helpful Links:https://citysidecap.com/Best Way to Contact Tim:tim@citysidecap.com
