Carolina Allen and Dana Robb visit with leaders from the Houston WAVE, Nikki Brown and America Ririe, discussing February's tenet, “We are each unique and innately worthy of respect” and their many impactful projects.   “If I had one goal in life, it would be to debunk this idea that you have to prove your worth, that you have to have more and be more or do more than someone else to be able to show your value, because that just really isn't true. We each have innate worth.” - Dana Robb   “…America had this idea, and had this unique perspective on it, and she was able to move it forward in a way that only she would have done and anyone else would have said, ‘Oh, gosh we can't do this right now,” but she understood the vision and she kind of allowed herself to be an instrument, to be a light for others because she was willing to move it forward.” - Nikki Brown   “I think that sometimes in our lives, like, the things that are our greatest hurdles become our greatest triumphs.” - Carolina Allen   “We always talk about good acts rippling outward, and I think this is such a great example of that.” - Carolina Allen   “I think you just take a step forward and the pieces come together … As we move forward, we've found everybody puts in a little drop and it really does collect and move forward.” - Nikki Brown   “With each of our unique backgrounds … just everyone's unique talents and abilities came together and made it happen.” - America Ririe   “We create so much more when we work together as a team and we all have something specific to contribute.” - Dana Robb   “The exciting thing to me is the fact that everywhere around the world there are women with unique talents and strengths and that the combination of all of those within, like, these local WAVEs all over the world creates something significant, and then all together, all of us are creating something really, really profound.” - Carolina Allen   “We've been given those talents for a reason, and if you're using them for what they're intended, you should never downplay them or apologize for them, you should use that strength to lift others up as well.” - America Ririe “I am becoming better at recognizing and using my strengths as I more proactively acknowledge and … support other people in their strengths.” - Nikki Brown   “I think in part when we are treating other people as though they are enough and acknowledging that, then we are literally changing those messages that we're sending ourselves … the way our brain operates, the more that we think certain messages, the more that we are believing it and kind of subscribing to that.” - Nikki Brown   “I think, to me, that's ultimately what we're trying to do, is allow others to share who they are, and we accept them as they are.” - Nikki Brown   Nikki Brown says her greatest joy comes from being a wife of 18 years and a mother of 6 kids! She also loves serving within her faith community. She works as a therapist and recently completed the process to become a Registered Play Therapist. She loves learning, running, yoga, and being outdoors. America Ririe is a stay at home mother of six. She lives with her family in Houston, Texas and has enjoyed being a part of the Big Ocean Women Houston WAVE. She works closely with Nikki Brown (President) and other local members, to raise awareness, advocate and bring change about various causes throughout the community. Big Ocean Women has become the catalyst in bribing about real change and a force for good. Carolina Allen is the founder and leader of Big Ocean Women, the international maternal feminist organization representing perspectives of faith, family, and motherhood throughout civil society. Carolina holds a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Utah with an emphasis in cultural religions and philosophy of science. Her inspirational and philosophical work has been presented at various international U.N. conferences. She is a native of Brazil, and a fluent trilingual. She and her husband Kawika are parents to 7 children. She is an avid soccer fan and had a brief career as a semi-professional player.   Dana Robb: Whenever presented with the opportunity for adventure, Dana is all in. Currently, this includes riding the local mountain biking trails with her husband, canyoneering, and climbing the hills of southern Utah. She loves to learn and explore with her six kids. She is drawn to the opportunities being involved with Big Ocean Women provides. Dana loves connecting to a global sisterhood where women's issues are being addressed through reframing and an abundance mindset.

Building Your Podcast Strategy – PTC 371

Podcast Talent Coach

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 22, 2022 53:58

How do you decide if a podcast is right for your business? That is what we answer today for Nikki Brown. You need to define the strategy first to determine if a podcast makes sense for your business. Find Nikki at CoachNikkiB.com. Begin with the end in mind. Then, determine how you get your clients to that point. There is a process a person experiences in their journey to become your client or customer. She discovers you, gets to know who you are and what you're all about, understands what you offer, realizes that solution is for her and decides to buy. To create a client, you need to build rapport, qualify her to ensure your solution is the right solution, education her on your solution and sign her up. It is a simple, focused sales strategy. In that strategy, where does your podcast fit? Your content allows you to share your stories and build rapport. The podcast also allows you to demonstrate your solution. YOUR STRATEGY As you build your strategy to attract clients, start with the end in mind. Where do you eventually want to lead your listeners? You may be trying to attract clients to your one-on-one coaching. Your strategy could be getting listeners to buy your books or become a customer of your company. If you are interviewing guests on your podcast, create a format that allows you to share a bit of your expertise. During the interview, share a bit of your personality. Let your listener get to know you as you have your conversation. Your content is all designed to build a relationship with your listener. When you are on the radio, one of the worst things that can happen is losing your voice. The second worst is getting the hiccups. One day on the radio I opened the mic to start my show and suddenly got the hiccups. I laughed a bit and said, "Well, this is gonna be a long show." Luckily, the hiccups went away quickly. Two days later, I ran into two ladies who listened that day. They told me how much they had laughed when they heard me get the hiccups. People come to your show for your powerful content. They stay for your amazing stories and personality. Share yourself with your audience and build relationships. MONETIZATION STRATEGY Today, we are going to help Nikki Brown determine if a podcast is right for her strategy. Before we get into the conversation, I want to invite you to a powerful event where I will help you build your podcast monetization strategy. We actually get stuff done in this day-long bootcamp. So many times, we go to webinars hoping to learn something only to find out it is full of fluff. This event is where we build your plan. You now have a chance to join me for a 7-hour Podcast Profits Bootcamp where I will take you through the entire process and build your podcast monetization strategy. During this event, you will discover 6 ways to monetize your show. We will then select the one strategy that is perfect for you. This isn't one size fits all. It is specific to your podcast. You can enroll at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/bootcamp. You will also get a workbook that will help you stay on track as we develop your strategy. During the bootcamp, we walk through the workbook step-by-step. HOW IT WORKS We will start with your foundation to ensure you are building on solid ground. Then, we will develop your purpose. I'll show you why most podcasts don't make money, so you can avoid those pitfalls. Many people think ads and sponsorships are the way to make money with your show. That is a myth. It is the worst way. Sponsorships require a very large audience and a lot of sales time. Ads also have a revenue ceiling. I'll show you a better way during the Podcast Profits Bootcamp. I won't just show you, we will build it together. We will discuss the various ways you can monetize your show, and we will pick the strategy that is right for you. Finally, you will have plenty of time to ask me questions to refine your strategy. This is so much more than a webinar or workshop. It is a bootcamp where we will actually get things done. Where most webinars last an hour, this is an all day event. It all happens on Thursday, February 10th. REGISTER You can save if you register before the end of January. Registration for the Podcast Profits Bootcamp is typically $997. If you get in before January 31st, you can register for only $197 for this 7-hour bootcamp. You get the bootcamp, your workbook and a guide to show you exactly how to do it. More importantly, you walk away with your monetization strategy for your show. Right now, you can enroll for $197. Enroll now and secure your spot. You can enroll at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/bootcamp. If you are ready to build your podcast monetization strategy, the Podcast Profits Bootcamp is for you. You've spent enough time attending empty webinars and trying to find sponsors. Now is the time to build a real strategy. Let's get you registered for the Podcast Profits Bootcamp. Jump in right now at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/bootcamp. PODCAST STRATEGY Nikki Brown is a professional life and leadership coach and would love to share tips and information for other coaches and those who want to incorporate coaching skills into their work or everyday life. She says she only has so much time and energy in the week. She is just not sure if a podcast makes sense for her and her business. She needs to decide whether to pursue a podcast right now. We help her get clear on her strategy and see how a podcast can help her grow her business. Enjoy the conversation. RELATIONSHIPS Such a great conversation with Nikki. She is off to a great start.   You have a great opportunity to use your podcast for educating your listeners and help them feel understood. A podcast is a great way to begin building your community and connecting with your audience. If you would like to spend a day and build your entire strategy, join me for the Podcast Profits Bootcamp. This is so much more than a webinar or workshop. It is a bootcamp where we will actually get things done. Where most webinars last an hour, this is an all day event. It all happens on Thursday, February 10th. During this event, you will discover 6 ways to monetize your show. We will then select the one strategy that is perfect for you. The book for today’s episode is ‘The Way My Heart is Built’ by Nikki Brown. Synopsis: Life for Sayora Mayhew was simple. Do what you love while loving what you do, with the support of your loved ones around you. She was on top of the world, her dancing career was taking off and life was grand, until it wasn’t. A revelation about the two people she held closest to her heart, sends Sayora into an emotional downward spiral, ending on the wrong side of the law. Omega True grew up with nothing but a crackhead for a mother. However, he never let that get in the way of him being the man he felt he was destined to be. He never used his environment as an excuse to stay stagnant but instead as motivation to do better, be better. Mega Money Records was his better, and he was on the brink of greatness, but something was missing. It’s not until he meets the beautiful Sayora did he finally realize what that was. It was her, but they both were carrying some heavy baggage. Baggage that neither are prepared to carry for the other. The way Sayora’s heart was built, she couldn’t afford the risks that love brought along but Omega made it hard to keep him at arm’s length. The connection he felt to her was unmatched and he was unwilling to let it go. Things were starting to look up until the past came whisking in, disheveling what they’re trying to build. Will Omega be as relentless in his pursuit or will the drama from both of their storms be too much for them to bear? Episode 15 - Interview with Nikki Brown-Booker, Program Officer, Disability Inclusion Fund, Borealis Philanthropy, shares insights and wisdom from the funder's side of the table. Nonprofits focused on social justice and civil rights should listen closely!Nikki Brown-Booker is a Filipino/Black woman with a disability who works in philanthropy. "When I enter a room no one looks like me. This is my life experience. It doesn't change except for the rare occurrence when I attend an advocacy meeting or training that people with disabilities would attend."Nikki's story is, in her words, ". . . exclusively American. My mother immigrated from the Philippines after WWII at the age of 18 along with her 6 siblings and her parents. She worked as a domestic worker, nanny, and housekeeper. Her father fought in the Philippine army defending America against the Japanese. My father grew up outside of Jackson, Mississippi and moved to California in the sixties because he could no longer tolerate being a black man in the South. He went to trade school in Mississippi to become a chef. When he moved to California, he worked his way through kitchens before eventually owning his own successful restaurant. That was good food. My parents both had previous marriages with children before the met. They blended their families and they had me."Both of Nikki's parents actively participated in workers' rights and never crossed a picket line.  Her mother's father organized with Cesar Chavez and her grandmother was the first director of the Filipino community center in Vallejo, home to one of the largest Filipino populations in the United States. Nikki writes, "To put this in perspective, 44% of all U.S. Filipinos live in California. My family taught me the importance of social justice and organizing others who felt the same. Through example, I was taught never to leave others behind."Nikki was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis as a child. She was extremely strong-willed despite poor health and chronic pain. "My parents never put limits on me. They raised me to be generous, strong, kind and to be proud of who I am. I was taught that we are all equal and that my actions need to reflect that belief. This is what brought me to philanthropic work."Nikki writes, "As an advocate who promotes racial and disability justice I can tell you that organizations engaged in philanthropy have a lot to learn before they can effectively serve intersectional communities. I come from marginalized identities. My presence as the the Program as the Program Office for the Disability Inclusion Fund is one  example of inclusive but so much more is needed. I am uniquely qualified through education and personal history to make decisions that can affect the community I was born into. I am stakeholder. In order for the field of philanthropy to successfully help marginalized people they must be working at the foundation level and in the boardroom. We need to see those faces in the room. We need to hear their voices. We must advocate from a place of experienced insight and true empathy. I am working to witness this in my lifetime. I hope you will join me."GivingHeartBeat@gmail.com

Nikki Brown is a content strategist with Melrose PR in Los Angeles. Today we’re going to talk about How blockchain technology can transform the entertainment industry and media landscape.  Questions Asked:  What’s going on in the world of Blockchain and crypto PR? So why does the entertainment industry need the blockchain? If I were in the entertainment industry, I’d be worried about a decentralized blockchain stealing my digital assets and putting them on the blockchain. Like Netflix for the blockchain. I mean, how would they stop that? How will the blockchain change the media landscape? What are your clients asking you to do? What’s the most interesting crypto project you’re working on? How can blockchain companies use marketing and PR to increase their token prices? What are your clients struggling with? When should blockchain / crypto companies engage PR? IN 100 words or less, if you could invest a fictional $100,000 in one or two cryptos, what would they be and why? Not sure about what I would invest in, but some projects I find interesting are: -Breaker's p2p film distribution platform -Brave Browser -Steemit -Blockchains LLC's digital ecosystem in Reno, NV Key Takeaway: UP ON THE GLASS, the feature dramatic-thriller I produced and co-wrote: http://upontheglass.com/ Melrose PR, for crypto and blockchain projects seeking a communications partner: https://www.melrosepr.com/

In this special joint episode recorded with Crypto Token Talk host Kelley Weaver and guest-host Nikki Brown with The Coin Boys hosts Andy Steig and Daniel Gutierrez, the podcast hosts come together for a lively discussion of all things blockchain and crypto. Each host tells the story of how he/she got into crypto in the first place and shares thoughts on how blockchain can achieve mass adoption. As a first course of action, crypto enthusiasts need to use decentralized applications. Equally essential are developments pertaining to making dapps and crypto payments easier. Finally, we need more education as to the value of being empowered with increased control over one’s own value, data, and governance. The hosts also talk about layers of trust in blockchain applications as well as the reality that not everything needs to be decentralized. Everyone agreed that it’s essential for the community to maintain open arms when it comes to welcoming those who are new to crypto into this space. One day we won’t necessarily distinguish between dapps and apps; they will all just be “apps.” Over the course of the last three years, we’ve seen a transition from the theoretical to the actual. Some projects with fully-functional blockchain applications include MetaX’s adChain Registry of community-approved ad-supported websites, Breaker’s movie streaming dapp, and Pyrofex’s crypto payment processor Numifex.   Topics covered: -Stories of how each host got into crypto -Paths to mass adoption -Not everything needs to be decentralized -Maintaining a welcoming crypto community -Danger of Corporations developing their own cryptocurrencies -The transition from apps to dapps (eventually we’ll call them all “apps”) -Fully-functional blockchain applications   Links to resources: This episode on The Coin Boys: https://thecoinboys.com/index.php/2019/05/28/special-joint-podcast-the-coin-boys-with-crypto-token-talk/ The Coin Boys on Twitter: https://twitter.com/coinboyspodcast The Coin Boys Featured in a Crypto Token Talk Medium Story: https://medium.com/cryptotokentalk/the-best-use-case-for-blockchain-technology-is-still-within-our-own-financial-systems-says-cca12a6be348

Web designer, horse trainer, legally blind. Today my guest is Nikki Brown of www.coachnikkib.com. Nikki believes in "Doing Life Differently," and you're going to love listening to her! She is an amazing woman who inspires me, and I can't wait for you to hear her story! Nikki wears many hats including those of wife, mother, retired homeschool teacher, personal coach and dog lady. She enjoys helping writers become heroes of their own journey so they can share their creative work, inspire their readers and make the world a better place.  Nikki was born legally blind and lost the remainder of her functional eyesight in 2015. She believes everyone has their own set of challenges to grow through and loves to encourage others to recognize their potential, discover their purpose and share their own powerful story. Advice/words of wisdom to moms living with chronic health issues: Be kind to yourself. Try to love yourself. Recognize that you have so much value and that you are worthy. Just being alive and breathing on this earth, you have immense value and worth. You don't have to prove that to anyone. You are not broken. You have so much to offer just being yourself. You do not have to prove your worth. Nikki's Superpower is a secret sauce: a little hope, a little stubbornness, and a lot of curiosity. --Listen to the episode to hear more-- Nikki has something special for you on her website: You can find it here: http://www.coachnikkib.com/jen You can find Nikki at the following places: Facebook Personal Profile: https://www.facebook.com/nikkidbrown Facebook Business Page: https://www.facebook.com/coachnikkib Twitter: https://twitter.com/coachnikkib LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/coachnikkib/    You can reach me (Jen) at HardyMom.com/contact Special thanks to Nikki Brown for joining me. (Produced by and ) Can a cup of tea a day keep the doctor away? North Carolina native Annie Melvin continues the tradition of keeping her medicine chest in the garden. Kavanah Ramsier and Nikki Brown produced this piece as part of the Summer 2006 Audio Institute at the Center for Documentary Studies in Durham, North Carolina. Another shameless plug for CDS! But they do good stuff, and we are really captivated by this piece. for the Audio Institute as well, and the same weekend Nikki and Kavanah were getting to know Annie Melvin, we were having on my porch with our friend and accordion player, Ann Marie. Please note: June is National Accordion Awareness Month, so we here at Big Shed are doing our part! (Ann Marie will be playing for you in today's feed). The porch jam was mostly a total car crash, but we had a big time! (See photo).
