Today's SceneStop brings us to a mall in Orange County, Ca called South Coast Plaza. It is here that my friendship with Brian Chu was forged. I used to visit MC, the guitar player of ICE, on his lunch break when he worked at May Company. Numerous times I ran into people from the Sloth Crew and OC Hardcore Scene in this malls hallowed halls. Also, I bought (for the second time) a copy Sierra Championship Boxing, a game I still play!, at this mall. This video was done with my dear friend Rick Wilson aka Uncle Slam aka Brains. His home hosted the OKTOBERFEST in which ICE played with TRIGGERMAN. Together we took a walk down memory lane where I recalled Brains and I spending a lot of time at this mall, and he maintained that those times didn't happen. Enjoy! Are you looking for a greater purpose that will allow your assets to live on beyond you?In this episode, Jeff, Tim, and Pete discuss: What a purpose trust is and how it may benefit your generosity beyond your lifetime. How Farmer's Organic Market and Patagonia are leading the way with purpose trusts. Comparing a traditional trust with a perpetual purpose trust.Minimizing conflict and maximizing impact. Key Takeaways: Every trust must have a beneficiary. Until a few years ago, that had to be a person, pet, or cemetery plot. Now, there is a 4th beneficiary - a purpose.Traditional trusts can be revocable or non-revocable. Perpetual purpose trusts are non-revocable.Purpose trusts may be new to the US but have been functioning in Europe for much longer. There are many ways to negotiate ownership and shares with a trust, organization, or family. These purpose trusts can be structured in many ways to help promote your chosen purpose. "As long as you have a purpose, you can begin putting assets into the trust. These assets that are there need to promote the purpose." — Pete Ochs About Pete Ochs: Pete Ochs is an author, investor, entrepreneur, and chief steward of Capital III and Enterprise Stewardship: two companies dedicated to being a catalyst for flourishing.

What was Times Square before the electric billboards, before the Broadway theaters and theme restaurants, before the thousands and thousands of tourists? What was Times Square before it was Times Square? Today it's virtually impossible to find traces of the area's 18th and 19th century past. But in this episode, Tom and Greg will peel away the glamour and chaos — evict the Elmos and the pedicabs — to explore a far different world — of colonial estates, rolling farms, horse stables, and beer-themed hotels. They'll be ENDING their story today on the date December 31, 1904, when the very first New Year's Eve celebration was held here – in the plaza newly christened as Times Square. But if you had walked through here fifty years earlier, you certainly would not have called it ‘the crossroads of the world.'FEATURING: The Vanderbilts, the Pabsts, the Ochs, and the biggest musical of the 1900s! And a few connections in Times Square where you can still find these 19th-century traces of the past. This show was edited by Kieran Gannon

Carly Cushnie is a designer in every sense of the word, perhaps best known for her mold-breaking womenswear line, Cushnie (formerly Cushnie et Ochs). She was born and raised in London, and studied at the Parsons School of Design, where she met her future co-founder, Michelle Ochs. After graduating, they launched their label, Cushnie et Ochs, and immediately received attention for their sleek yet flirty designs. In 2011, they were finalists for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and in 2012, were nominees for the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear. Carly continued to design collections and ultimately rebranded as Cushnie when she went solo in 2018. After struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, Carly was forced to close Cushnie, which—although was heartbreaking—gave her a moment to think about her next steps. In the years since, she's pursued different creative projects; including nurturing her longtime love for interiors and architecture by beginning to work as an interior designer. Her work in the interior space culminated this year in the creation of a furniture collection with the luxury furniture brand Lulu and Georgia.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

I had a full circle moment recently. It was about this time last year, a cloudy day, drizzling. I was wearing a wool sweater too, not the same one, but similar. I was moody and sad, both days. Last year, that day, I first listened to “Manifesto”, Victor Jara and I will say again, it changed my life. This past year has changed me as a person, and that moment when I first heard that beautiful voice and that guitar, I could feel the change. It was a song that I felt I had heard my entire life, yet a song I had never heard before. This year, I finally after having known about him for months, actually I first heard listened to Phil Ochs for the first time. And I had a similar reaction to “I ain't marching no more”. I was struck by more than Ochs' voice or the lyrics of the song, I was struck by poignant, relevant and sincere his music was. As I listened to more of his music, I was amazed at just how applicable they are to everything happening now, from US militarism, foreign policy, racism, western liberalism and revolution, all things Ochs sang about. I knew it was significant for me to come upon Ochs' music at the time I did. I almost regretted that I hadn't found his music just a tiny bit sooner, so I could have played his “Love me, I'm a liberal” on my recent show about Western liberalism.Today we will talk about Phil Ochs, his music, how it so perfectly talks about what is happening today and much more. Songs: What's That I Hear Spanish lament Remember me Talking Vietnam blues Talking Cuban crisis Too many martyrs The thresher I ain't marching anymore Draft dodger rag Talking Birmingham Jam Here's to the state of Mississippi There but for fortune I'm going to say it now Ringing of revolution Santo Domingo Love me. Im a liberal Canons of Christianity. The war is over Changes When I'm Gone --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/anani-kaike/message
