In this episode, we chat with John Passalacqua, CEO and Director of First Phosphate, who are a mineral development company fully dedicated to extracting and purifying phosphate for the production of cathode active material for the Lithium Iron Phosphate (“LFP”) battery industry. First Phosphate is committed to producing at high purity level, in a responsible manner, and with low anticipated carbon footprint. John is an international business strategist with over 35 years of extensive technology and capital markets experience and was recognised as one of the top international business strategists during the early internet era. He has placed strong emphasis on strategic partnerships and cost-efficient development as core elements of the company’s growth strategy. He advocates for maintaining low capital and operational expenditures while constructing commercially viable facilities to support long-term expansion. In addition to his corporate leadership, John actively engages in discussions on global trade policy and its impact on the LFP battery sector advantages in this rapidly evolving industry and John’s on the podcast to give us the history and vision of First Phosphate, their mining practices and community engagement initiatives, technology they are using, the phosphate market and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS First Phosphate is strategically located in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, which is one of the few places in North America with high purity igneous phosphate essential for producing purified phosphoric acid used in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The company focuses on high purity phosphate, which is crucial for the production of LFP batteries. Unlike the majority of the world's phosphate used in agriculture, which is of lower purity, First Phosphate's product can directly produce the purified phosphoric acid needed for battery manufacturing. Phosphate-based LFP batteries offer significant environmental benefits compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. The process generates recyclable gypsum, and the batteries themselves are less toxic and easier to recycle, contributing to decarbonisation efforts. First Phosphate aims to create a robust North American phosphate supply chain by integrating mining operations with downstream processing, ensuring that the entire production process from phosphate extraction to battery material is localised and efficient. BEST MOMENTS "We're located in a very, very rare portion of Quebec, the only real place in North America with hard rock phosphate." "To make purified phosphoric acid for batteries, you need high purity phosphate, which is not available from the 95% of the world's phosphate used in agriculture." "The hard rock phosphate is actually very, very clean. It's amongst the purest in the world." "You have to perfect your process in one country and then you might need to establish operations in many different countries to get around trade barriers." First Phosphate's CEO, John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the release of two detailed research reports prepared by Queen's University and Université de Québec à Chicoutimi. The reports focus on the mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry of the Mountain, North, and South Zones of the Bégin-Lamarche igneous phosphate deposit. This deposit, located within the Lac-Saint-Jean Anorthositic (LSJA) Suite in Québec, forms part of the world's largest anorthosite complex. The comprehensive findings, now available on the company's website, provide critical insights into the resource's potential and strategic significance. Passalacqua also addressed broader industry developments, particularly in light of recent geopolitical tensions surrounding CATL, the world's largest battery maker, and its ties to China's military. CATL's inclusion on a U.S. government list alleging collaboration with China's military has raised concerns, particularly regarding its relationship with Tesla. CATL supplies lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries to Tesla's Shanghai factory, the automaker's largest, and these batteries are exported to markets such as Europe and Canada. Some U.S. lawmakers have criticized CATL's battery storage projects within the United States, citing potential security risks. Passalacqua emphasized the growing importance of establishing a secure North American supply chain for critical minerals like phosphate, which is vital for the production of batteries, fertilizers, and other technologies. He underscored First Phosphate's unique position in this chain, highlighting the strategic advantages of developing a localized and reliable resource base to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. With the ongoing shift toward renewable energy and geopolitical factors influencing global supply chains, First Phosphate aims to play a pivotal role in building a North American solution for critical materials while supporting the continent's energy transition and industrial autonomy. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqb #frspf #phosphate #LFPBatteries #PhosphoricAcid #BatterySupplyChain #LocalManufacturing #NorthAmericanProduction #CleanEnergyMaterials #EVBatteries
First Phosphate's CEO, John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to address a significant development by the United States Department of Defense. The Pentagon has added Chinese tech giants Tencent, a leading social media and gaming corporation, and CATL, the world's largest battery manufacturer, to its list of companies allegedly linked to China's military. Although inclusion on this list, known as the "1260H list," does not immediately result in sanctions, it carries potential repercussions for the named companies. Being associated with military ties could harm their reputations and create obstacles in their commercial activities, especially for those seeking to operate or expand within the United States. Tencent and CATL now join dozens of other Chinese firms accused of either directly or indirectly engaging with the U.S. market while maintaining connections to China's military. According to the Defense Department, the annual update of the 1260H list is part of an ongoing effort to spotlight and address China's “military-civil fusion” strategy. This strategy aims to eliminate barriers between the country's civilian research, commercial enterprises, and its armed forces to develop the most advanced military capabilities globally. The Pentagon views this initiative as a significant threat, as it leverages dual-use technologies and resources to bolster military power. Passalacqua also highlighted how such developments could impact global supply chains, partnerships, and geopolitical strategies, emphasizing the growing scrutiny on Chinese firms operating across key industries, including technology and energy storage. As the U.S. continues to refine its measures to counter perceived threats, this move signals another step in its broader strategy to address security concerns tied to China's rapid technological and military advancements. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqb #frspf #phosphate #LFPBatteries #BatterySupplyChain #NorthAmericaManufacturing #CriticalMinerals #ElectricVehicles #PhosphateMining #Geopolitics #USChinaTrade #RenewableEnergy #EnergyStorage

First Phosphate Corp CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce that the Canadian government has updated its critical minerals list for the first time since 2021, adding phosphorus, high-purity iron, and metallic silicon. This update brings the total number of critical minerals to 34. Passalacqua highlighted several advantages of phosphorus being included on this list, emphasizing the significant financial and developmental benefits for the company. Passalacqua explained that the addition of phosphorus to the critical minerals list makes First Phosphate eligible for critical minerals flow-through shares, which aid flow-through investors. Moreover, there are numerous funding programs available at both federal and provincial levels that are exclusive to critical minerals. This new designation is expected to boost investor confidence and open more funding opportunities on an international scale. Countries like the U.S. are encouraged to include phosphorus in their critical minerals lists, following Canada's lead. Canada had previously produced sedimentary phosphate for fertilizers but ceased production a decade ago. First Phosphate now aims to produce high-purity igneous phosphate in northern Quebec, which is suitable for high-grade phosphoric acid used in batteries. Passalacqua noted that being on the critical minerals list significantly enhances the company's eligibility for grants and funding, which will facilitate its project development. In addition to financial benefits, this designation provides First Phosphate with a competitive edge in the market, aligning with global trends in mineral production and usage. The company's strategic focus on producing high-purity phosphate positions it well to meet the growing demand for critical minerals, particularly in the battery sector. With the critical minerals list now updated, First Phosphate is poised to take advantage of the enhanced support and funding opportunities. The company plans to expedite its project development efforts, focusing on producing high-quality phosphate to cater to the burgeoning market needs. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #phosphate #BéginLamarcheproject #CEOInterview #CompanyUpdate #StrategicGrowth #CriticalMinerals, #Canada, #Phosphorus, #Funding, #Minerals, #Investment, #Quebec, #BatteryMaterials, #CanadianGovernment, #ProactiveNews, #FinancialMarkets, #MineralProduction, #EnvironmentalResources, #HighPurityIron, #MetallicSilicon, #StrategicResources, #NaturalResources, #MiningIndustry #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

First Phosphate Corp CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the results from 29 additional drill holes at the Bégin-Lamarche project in Quebec. The company's drill program, totaling 25,929 meters, was completed ahead of schedule, with 4,557 assays received to date and 1,775 assays expected by May's end. Passalacqua highlighted the progress, noting that 23 drill holes have been completed in the Phosphate Mountain Zone, with results from 14 holes showing grades exceeding 10% P2O5 over widths ranging from 7 to 92 meters. Notably, drill hole BL-24-67 intersected 11.85% P2O5 over 84.0 meters from a surface depth of 3.0 meters, indicating significant phosphate mineralization in the area. Additionally, Passalacqua discussed drilling in the Southern Zone, where continuous widths of over 100 meters of phosphate mineralization have been observed. Drill hole BL-24-60 intersected 5.21% P2O5 over 194.0 meters from the surface, while drill hole BL-24-83 intersected 5.81% P2O5 over 216.1 meters, further confirming the project's potential. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #phosphate #BéginLamarcheproject #CEOInterview #CompanyUpdate #StrategicGrowth #FirstPhosphate, #Mining, #DrillResults, #PhosphateMining, #ResourceEstimate, #EconomicAssessment, #OpenPitMining, #SurfaceMining, #HighGradePhosphate, #JohnPassalacqua, #MiningCEO, #ProactiveNewsroom, #MiningSector, #MineralResources, #PreliminaryAssessment, #MiningOperations, #ResourceManagement, #SustainableMining, #EnvironmentalImpact, #CorporateNews #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
First Phosphate Corp CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce that the company has signed a partially binding letter of intent with Rapid Building Systems of Australia. This agreement marks the initial steps toward establishing a Rapidwall Manufacturing Plant in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean Region of Quebec. Once the terms are finalized, First Phosphate will obtain exclusive sales and marketing rights in Canada for RBS's Rapidwall and Rapidseal products. Passalacqua highlighted the strategic benefits of the Rapidwall Manufacturing System, explaining that it will enable First Phosphate to convert clean phosphogypsum, a byproduct from their upcoming purified phosphoric acid plant, into building panels. These panels are intended to support housing projects, particularly in rural and indigenous communities across North America. Rapidwall consists of prefabricated load-bearing wall panels, crafted through a moulding process that incorporates glass-fibre reinforced, water-resistant gypsum plaster. This makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from single-family homes to multi-storey residential, commercial, and industrial developments. This initiative not only aims to enhance housing solutions but also underscores First Phosphate's commitment to sustainable building practices. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #phosphate #BéginLamarcheproject #CEOInterview #CompanyUpdate #StrategicGrowth #RapidBuildingSystems, #PrefabHousing, #SustainableHousing, #Gypsum, #PhosphoricAcid, #CanadianMarket, #CircularEconomy, #SustainableMining, #ResourceReuse, #HousingCrisis, #EcoFriendlyHomes, #RuralHousing, #MiningIndustry, #InnovativeSolutions, #JohnPassalacqua, #HousingSolutions, #CanadianInnovation, #FireSafeHousing, #EcoConstruction #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Changing Battery Chemistries & Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) with John Passalacqua and Isobel SheldonThe Lithium-Ion battery is the fulcrum on which the energy transition hinges. However, its chemistry continues to evolve. The Nickel-Cobalt variant has led the charge in EVS, primarily due to the singular focus on range. However, cost, raw materials, safety and utility has led many manufacturers towards Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) batteries to meet the mass adoption needed to reach decarbonization goals. In this episode, we do a deep dive on battery attributes, chemistries and markets. And if LFPs will dominate, what does that mean for the battery supply chain and the mineral producers its needs. Our guests are Isobel Sheldon OBE, a leading authority in batteries & EVs and John Passalacqua, CEO of First Phospate Corp (PHOS:CN). First Phosphate Corp is positioned to be a leading supplier of the Phosphate needed in this evolution within the revolution.Visit HC Group hereFirst Phostphate Corp here

We have a very special guest joining us today, our first repeat guest on the show, in fact! You may remember Valentina de Santis who joined us to discuss her famed hotel Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como. Well she's back! And this time to tell us about the jewel box of a hotel that she just finished building called Passalacqua. This revival of an 18th century villa, might be one of the most stunning properties I've ever had the luxury of staying in. And on top of that, the family owned atmosphere, relaxed vibe, and local community truly bring to life the concept of dolce far niente. Valentina and I chat about everything from the insane amount of Murano glass adorning the hotel, to the Italian craftsmen that designed every tiny bit, to the local gelateria owner who moved to the village for love. You'll also get a smattering of celebrities, famous opera composers, and of course all of Valentina's charm. Learn more at www.luxtravelinsider.com Connect with me on Social: Instagram LinkedIn
