Irish business confidence has fallen to its lowest level since the pandemic, according to a new Grant Thornton survey, with mid-market firms citing global volatility, rising labour and energy costs, and political uncertainty as major challenges for the year ahead. Here in Clare, businesses are feeling the impact, but they're also taking steps to remain competitive and invest in technology and productivity. To discuss how local businesses are navigating these challenges, Alan Morrissey was joined by Margaret O'Brien, CEO of Ennis Chamber, and Patrick Burke, representing businesses in Kilrush and Ennis. Interview with Rory Quinn, President & CEO of Yukon MetalsOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/yukon-metals-cseymc-launching-major-drill-program-in-2025-7124Recording date: 10th September 2025Yukon Metals Corporation (CSE:YMC) represents a compelling early-stage copper and gold exploration opportunity positioned to capitalize on favorable market conditions and strong preliminary drilling results across three strategic properties in Canada's Yukon Territory. The company's flagship Birch project has delivered encouraging validation of its geological model, with scarn mineralization encountered in every drill hole across a substantial 750-meter strike length. The consistency of this mineralization is particularly significant for early-stage exploration, indicating a robust and extensive system with substantial discovery potential. Recent drilling has intersected up to 46 meters of continuous scarn mineralization between 250-300 meters depth, suggesting significant vertical continuity. Preliminary visual assessment by Dr. Quinton Hennigh, a highly respected geologist, indicates potential copper grades of 1.5-2% with accompanying gold content, though final assay results are pending.Complementing the copper focus at Birch, the Star River property presents exceptional high-grade silver and gold potential. Surface sampling has yielded remarkable results including up to 11,000 g/t silver and 101 g/t gold, with visible galena mineralization containing 1,800 g/t silver and 20% lead. Current drilling targets shallow mineralization at approximately 150 meters depth, supported by an 800-meter gravity anomaly that correlates with known high-grade surface showings.A critical value driver for Yukon Metals lies in its systematic approach to operational scaling through permit advancement. The company currently operates under Class 1 permits that limit operations to 10 people and restrict drilling scope. However, management is actively pursuing Class 3 permits that would dramatically expand capabilities to 50 people on site with virtually unlimited drilling capacity for a 10-year period. CEO Rory Quinn emphasized this represents a significant value inflection point, stating the permits will create a huge amount of value and enable much larger exploration programs. The company maintains a strong financial foundation with $11 million raised in April, supporting approximately 9,000 meters of drilling across the three properties. Management operates a lean structure with only a three-person Vancouver office, ensuring capital allocation is directed primarily toward exploration activities. This disciplined approach maximizes shareholder value while maintaining operational flexibility.Market conditions appear increasingly favorable for copper exploration, driven by electrification trends and supply constraints. Quinn noted strong institutional interest and the presence of generalist funds and US capital, describing current conditions as "the best vibe I've felt here in a long time" in what "really does feel like a bull market." The company's stock price has reflected this positive sentiment, advancing from $0.60 to the $0.80-$0.90 range following positive drilling results. The management team brings valuable experience and strategic relationships within the mining finance community. Key personnel include Keith Neumeyer, who helped structure the company and brings committed investor networks, and Patrick Burke, former head of capital markets at Canaccord Genuity. Quinn's background with Wheaton Precious Metals provides institutional market familiarity that should prove valuable as projects advance. With pending assay results, permit advancement progress, and favorable market conditions for strategic commodities, Yukon Metals appears well-positioned to deliver value through systematic project advancement and discovery potential across its diversified property portfolio.View Yukon Metals' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/yukon-metalsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Joining the show this week is an experienced executive who has a history of driving brands to success. Please welcome to the show, Head of Development for Ashford Inc and CEO at Premier, a subsidiary of Ashford, Hector Sanchez!Hector sits down with Host Dan Ryan to share the lessons he has learned from his time in the hospitality industry. Hector dives into the importance of owning mistakes when they happen, the challenges of aligning on budget, and how to build teams that play to their members' strengths. Takeaways: Hospitality is the act of serving people and creating unique experiences that they can share with others. It plays a crucial role in creating memorable moments and fostering connections between individuals. Taking responsibility and providing a solution is crucial in resolving issues effectively, as it demonstrates accountability and ownership, unlike finger-pointing and avoiding responsibility. Ownership groups in the hotel industry typically do not bring various functions, such as project management, in-house. While some may handle design and project management internally, they often rely on external firms for expertise and assistance. As a newcomer to the hospitality industry, it's important to take note of the small details around you. Observing how other projects came to fruition and noting their nuances will help you ramp up your design knowledge. While having a holistic understanding of your industry is beneficial, it doesn't mean you need to be an expert in every discipline. Play to your strengths and build a team whose members fill in each other's gaps. The disconnect between budget and creativity in the hospitality industry can be a large challenge. Being mindful of budget constraints while fostering creativity is crucial for successful project execution. Quote of the Show:“To me, it's just about how you react to those issues? Do you just hide from them? Do you ignore the calls or do you rise up?” - Hector SanchezLinks: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premier_design_to_completion LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hector-a-sanchez-65799b7/ Website: https://www.premierpm.com/ Website: https://www.ashfordinc.com/ Shout Outs: 01:16 - Chris Green: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wchrisgreen/ 01:23 - Chesapeake Hospitality 01:25 - Remington Hotels: https://www.remingtonhospitality.com/ 09:31 - Bermanfalk: https://www.bermanfalk.com/ 11:38 - PEMEX: https://www.pemex.com/en/Paginas/default.aspx 12:18 - National Oilwell Varco: https://www.nov.com/ 12:30 - Schlumberger: https://www.slb.com/ 12:31 - Halliburton: https://www.halliburton.com/ 19:13 - Carla Niemann: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carla-niemann-rid-iida-81314a5/ 19:19 - Johannes Michalsky: https://www.linkedin.com/in/johannes-michalsky-80166b77/ 19:27 - Mike Funk: https://www.linkedin.com/in/funkmike/ 27:36 - Patrick Burke: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrick-burke-aia-ncarb-3125748b/ 27:51 - Rex Tullius 33:20 - Mr C's Beverly Hills 33:22 - Hilton: https://www.hilton.com/en/ 33:27 - La Concha: https://www.laconcharesort.com/ 33:30 - Autograph Collection: https://autograph-hotels.marriott.com/ 33:32 - Le Pavillon Hotel: https://www.lepavillon.com/ 34:35 - Courtyard: https://courtyard.marriott.com/ 34:37 - Ritz-Carlton: https://www.ritzcarlton.com/ 35:41 - Barbara Carlson 39:15 - Renaissance Nashville 47:49 - University of Houston: https://www.uh.edu/ 47:52 - Texas Rangers: https://www.mlb.com/rangers 47:56 - Houston Astros: https://www.mlb.com/astros Ways to Tune In: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A2XOJvb6mGqEPYJ5bilPX Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/defining-hospitality-podcast/id1573596386 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZGVmaW5pbmdob3NwaXRhbGl0eS5saXZlL2ZlZWQueG1s Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c904932-90fa-41c3-813e-1cb8f3c42419

Hitting singles and doubles, rather than grand slams, is often the way a business builds. And incremental growth happens as you remain humble. Sometimes you'll strike out but when you try various sales efforts, are open to feedback, and simply do the next faithful step, you'll eventually score. In this episode, I chat with Patrick Burke, co-founder and CEO of https://www.boxscoreme.com/ (BoxScore), all about this. We discuss success through humility, how it's not always about hitting a home run, and creating space for new ideas. I hope you enjoy all the baseball metaphors as much as we did! “I think it is really easy to overcomplicate things… especially when things get hard. You want to do this brand new huge thing. It's like, ‘Just, man, keep it simple'... What's the next faithful step? That's all you can control a lot of the times, right? What's the next thing that I can do that makes sense?' And you just go day after day doing that, and it's amazing how far you'll go.” -- Patrick Burke What You'll LearnEntrepreneurship with family A deeper understanding of humility Rejuvenating and recharging Fresh eyes in the team and business culture Your strong why as fuel Invest in relationships Connect with Patrick Burke Patrick is the co-founder and CEO of https://www.boxscoreme.com/ (BoxScore). I made most of these big mistakes myself and barely lived to tell about it. This episode of Across The Margin: The Podcast features an interview with Patrick Burke, associate professor of music at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Burke is the author of Come In and Hear the Truth: Jazz and Race on 52nd Street and also the recently released Tear Down The Walls: White Radicalism and Black Power in 1960s Rock — the focus of this episode. From the earliest days of rock and roll, white artists regularly achieved fame, wealth, and success that eluded the Black artists whose work had preceded and inspired them. This dynamic continued into the 1960s, even as the music and its fans grew to be more engaged with political issues regarding race. In Tear Down the Walls, Burke tells the story of white American and British rock musicians' engagement with Black Power politics and African American music during the volatile years of 1968 and 1969. The book sheds new light on a significant but overlooked facet of 1960s rock — white musicians and audiences casting themselves as political revolutionaries by enacting a romanticized vision of African American identity. These artists' attempts to cast themselves as revolutionary were often naïve, misguided, or arrogant, but they could also reflect genuine interest in African American music and culture and sincere investment in anti-racist politics. White musicians such as those in popular rock groups Jefferson Airplane, the Rolling Stones, and the MC5, fascinated with Black performance and rhetoric, simultaneously perpetuated a long history of racial appropriation and misrepresentation and made thoughtful, self-aware attempts to respectfully present African American music in forms that white leftists found politically relevant. In Tear Down the Walls Patrick Burke neither condemns white rock musicians as inauthentic nor elevates them as revolutionary. The result is a fresh look at 1960s rock that provides new insight into how popular music both reflects and informs our ideas about race and how white musicians and activists can engage meaningfully with Black political movements — and you can learn all about these ideas in this informative, music and history-centric episode of Across The Margin: The Podcast.
