Plus, we are joined by some guests including Mike Bryant (Shadwell's Jacket/Nanochrist) who produced our first demo, Christen Latham our first superfan and avid supporter, Dale Harrison ( Former drummer of Headstones) who played on a few tracks and shared the stage when we opened for Headstones on many occasions and Marc Garniss (I Hate Sally/KPP Productions) who reflects on all the shows we played together. Our band Mr.Machete shared the stage with Sum 41, Protest the Hero, I Mother Earth, Matthew Good, Headstones and more throughout our career. Our live shows and punk/metal mix influence had a small but mighty influence on the local Durham Region music scene of the mid 90's. Please enjoy this fun trip down memory lane with us and maybe just maybe we will have chance to release more new music down the road!

Titus Kleppinger embodies transformation. In 2018, he found himself emotionally shut down. His marriage was suffering. He felt heartbroken, ashamed, guilty, defeated. And then he made a decision--a decision to transform. Today Titus shows up in his whole heart, assisting others to live from their hearts, too. When we do this, when we live from our hearts truly and without limitation, we experience the Flow. We work in it, we live it, we breathe it, and we embody it. We can excel, in other words share the Flow with others. Join my co-host Lisa Berry and me as we sit down for a deep and poignant conversation with Titus. Transformation is possible, and Titus reminds us of this. We all have the Glow, the Spark of life within us; we have only to claim it. Each of us is capable of Miracle Moments. These happen whenever we get ourselves into the Flow, into the very heart of service. This conversation is powerful. Tune in and be inspired. --- Titus Kelppinger discovered his heart, his purpose, and his calling in October 2018. He enjoys helping others to get from where they are to where they want to be. He empowers and encourages others to live from the heart and work in their flow. Each of us can have a more meaningful life now! Titus works with people on transformational development, concentrating on the whole person. His work focuses on mindset, health, nutrition, and spiritual wellbeing. When a person lives from their heart and works in their flow, they will be a success in whatever they set their mind to. Nowadays, as a boudoir photographer he gives back to women and makes a tremendous impact. With boudoir, he wants to show women everywhere that they are beautiful just the way they are. He aims to show that society's "beauty standard" is more about loving oneself than comparing our bodies to other people. What characterizes Brad is the passion and dedication he brings to his work, also the connections he makes with everyone he spends time with. She started out as a model and actress and quickly figured out that she was very business savvy. But when she started investing in different businesses, she wasn’t taken very seriously — and when that finally hit a tipping point, she decided to start her own company. Today, she’s one of the owners and founders of Sugar Taco, a vegan restaurant that is completely woman-owned. She is such a visionary, and the way she thinks is going to rock your world.   Question Highlights:   What is it that you’ve started and how did it come about? How did you navigate the challenge of getting your voice heard? What are the takeaways that were painful in the moment but paid off? How did the relationships you built come to fruition later on? How do you vet your investors? What do you tell first time investors? How did you manage the fear and stay cool?     Guest Bio: Jayde Nicole is a vegan, environmentalist and animal activist. Jayde seeks to educate people on the seriousness of protecting our environment, our oceans and the animals we share this planet with. She participates in and organizes beach & ocean clean ups, volunteers at the marine mammal care center, and educates people on how to reduce their impact on our environment through social media. Jayde created her dog rescue, EDL Foundation in 2013 but her love of all animals has been with her for her entire life. At the age of five she informed her mother in a way only a five year old can do, that she would no longer be eating meat, and so began her path to help as many animals as she could. Her move from small-town Port Perry, Ontario to Los Angeles, California, which is overwhelmed with dog shelters, helped to focus her efforts towards helping dogs. EDL seeks to educate people on pet population control, animal adoption, and proper care. They rescue dogs abandoned and neglected at kill shelters as well as homeless and displaced  pets. EDL rehabilitates these dogs and then helps find them their forever homes.

In the 21st century with social media, and the internet we are all developing multiple careers in different sectors and industries. No one typifies this more than Jayde Nicole. A former Playboy model of the year and now a successful businesswoman investing in hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Rob interviews Jayde and their conversation takes them from the non-glamorous side of modelling to how making an ethical business doesn't have to mean sacrificing profit. Listen to a fascinating interview with one of Instagram's biggest influencers hearing how they have been successful in multiple areas. Key Takeaways Is there a non-glamorous side to modelling? I would say that it's 90% non-glamorous, especially before I made it. I would have to drive for hours, to work for long days for not a lot of pay. There were horror stories working with photographers where there was sexual harassment, or you're spoken down to. Being a woman in any business is a challenge but especially modelling, people talk to you like you're dumb. Do you think it is still as hard for women in business? It's definitely easier now, than it was for women in my mother's era, for example. We have lots of women starting businesses, and running billion dollar companies. It doesn't mean that it's all a bed of roses, however. Even to this day, I will get men calling me babe which I find to be extremely condescending. In my most recent project, I chose only women investors and I've found it so much easier.   What does a new era of modelling mean to you? When I was younger, the only way you could get into modelling was to find an agency. Then you would do lots and lots of casting and hope someone liked you. We used to shoot on film, and the production was much bigger. Now, it's so much easier to create your own content. Social media allows for immediate reach to millions of people. Was there a day when you thought that you had made it? Walking into the Playboy mansion and meeting Heff was a huge moment for me. I didn't really get star struck but everyone knows who he is. It didn't click there and then but reflecting on it afterwards I realised it was a moment where my career was taken to the next level. I didn't go on castings after that which is a big deal for any model. Did you always know you wanted to set up other businesses separate from modelling? I think I was eleven when I first invested money on the stock market through my grandad. Modelling was never where my heart was, my heart was always in business. I've always planned to get into hotels, hospitality, restaurants and be involved with different charities. Why hospitality? I really thought I was going to own a hotel from when I was younger. I was really good at customer service, in the small jobs I had before my modelling career I always found ways of making processes more efficient. Do you regard yourself as having crossed different careers/industries? Whenever people would ask me what I did, there would be laughter as I could reel off a whole host of things I'm doing from nightclubs to modelling. 9-5 jobs are really a thing of the past and there are so many more opportunities now that when we were younger. There is an art to Instagram. What is your best tips? It's a lot of work. You have to build lots and lots of content. You have to stick to the niche that people follow you for. People are following you for a specific reason. Know your audience and build content around what they would like to see. Build content for the followers that you want, not just for the ones you have already. What is good content? Something that your audience is interested in. The quality of photography is important. We're all consumers as well as producers of content on Instagram, so we are all going to interact more with better, clearer photography. What is business about for you? Right now, I'm trying to save the world through business. I'm trying to set a new standard for how business's practice when it comes to its overall effect on the environment. My new restaurant only uses biodegradable products, there is solar power on the roof and we are working to reduce food waste. I believe it's possible to make money as well as helping the planet. What have you learned in business? Always second guess yourself when you are going into a new venture with new people. Don't get consumed with the hype of a new project. Always make sure there is a market for your business idea before you dive straight in. Finally, you have to be passionate about what you do, and willing to work hard at it. How could men change so business could be better for women? This kind of goes for everyone but it's important to be self-aware. Take a second to check what you are putting out into the world. Picture someone saying that to you, it's essentially trying to empathise with others. How do you deal with all the haters on social media? It's challenging. I've built up a tough skin having been in the spotlight since I was young. My mom was a very strong woman. You have to take it day by day, and some days I deal with it better than others. On bad days I put my phone away, and leave it overnight. What does disruptive mean to you? Anybody that is disrupting an industry where there has been set practices and you're challenging them. Maybe annoying some people. With what we're doing in our new restaurant we are calling out the restaurant industry on their practices, forcing them to make their companies better, more ethical, to consider their effect on the environment. How to teach Cidermaking 101 is fairly straight forward: Have on hand: Fresh pressed apple juice A carboy or some sanitized vessel to hold the juice, with enough room for it to ferment and not bubble over. An airlock to release CO2 and keep out Oxygen That is the basics, but in truth there is more to consider before you start publicizing your Cidermaking workshop. When Matthew Somerville reached out to me in September 2018 to speak with me on a cidermaking course he was setting up in his area of Ontario (Port Perry), I gladly jumped at the chance to have a chat. This episode features that conversation as we discuss all the particulars of setting up a cidermaking course for non professionals. Matthew Somerville and Andy Paul own Two Blokes Cider in Port Perry and Toronto, Canada. Port Perry is a 1 hour drive from Toronto They are newly licensed in 2019. To prep for that moment they planted 2000 apples trees - cider varieties- in 2015 on a family farm.  What follows below is an overview of tips from our conversation. How to teach Cidermaking 101 The goal: Make cidermaking as simple as possible. Basics of what to have on hand Recommend 2 demos - one with dry yeast and the other liquid ( recommend sweet mead and making a cyser, by adding up to 3 pound of honey per 5 gallons - the new makers will be pleased with the results. I have found this to be a fail safe cyser to make during demos) Have 2 glass carboys pre filed with cider  (half filled, so it can be easily moved after the workshop to your cellar) Have airlocks pre sanitized and enclosed in a ziplock bag. If adding honey (as I usually did with one batch) have a sanitize funnel to make pouring the yeast. Have cider on hand for folks to taste and to discuss what you did last year to make that cider. Having a taste of cider will definitely elicit questions.      Options on set up pick your own apples and press on site do a bulk pressing and prepare the cider before hand by setting up the ph and sulfite before the course begins. - Ria’s favorite way to go - don’t worry about the ph and don’t worry that the cider is cool. It won’t be absolutely perfect but that is the beauty of cider. Use the fresh pressed juice on hand, plop in the yeast and spend a bit of time on primary fermentation and the first initial racking. Yeast: Pick a yeast that leaves a bit of residual sugar. Recommend 2 yeast for a demo Sweet Mead Yeast - buy it in liquid form And 71B Be prepared post the workshop for incoming emails as the new cidermakers go home and begin wondering if what they are doing is right. Final Goal: Have people wanting to keep coming back to cider. Matthew’s inspirational read for cider making Craft Cider: How to Turn Apples into Alcohol. Main tips to glean from this chat Keep it simple Avoid getting too technical Entice the newbies to make it not only once but again and again. Mentions in this Chat Nigel and Natasa O’Connor of Militsa Apple Cider www.militsa-cider.com https://www.facebook.com/MilitsaCider/

Egyptian Death Sentences: Human Rights Travesty or Price of Freedom? In recent weeks, the governing authority in Egypt has escalated their crackdown on supporters of deposed president Mohammad Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. In March, news agencies widely reported that after a two day trial, 529 people, many of whom were tried in absentia, were sentenced to death over an attack on a police station in which a police officer was killed. [2] In late April, 683 alleged supporters of the Brotherhood, including spiritual leader Mohammed Badie were sentenced to death over their supposed role in the August 14 incident. [3] Likewise, the Egyptian courts have banned the April 6 movement, considered a pro-democracy group which played a role in instigating and organizing the Arab Spring movement which overthrew President Mubarak in 2011. [4] Numerous journalists have been jailed as well under the rationale that they are “spreading false news” and “part of a terrorist organisation.”[5] This week's Global Research News Hour examines two perspectives on the repressive measures being taken by the Egyptian military government against the Muslim Brotherhood, the April 6 movement, and other critics of the current authorities. Film Maker John Greyson was one of two Canadians who got caught up in last summer's mass arrests. After fifty days of detention without charge, he and his companion Tarek Loubani were released. [6] Greyson spoke to the Global Research News Hour about his harrowing ordeal, the conditions he and other prisoners faced, and about the need to intervene on behalf of other innocents being wrongfully held. A geo-political analyst and frequent Global Research contributor who goes by the name Tony Cartalucci has a different perspective. He believes the repressive actions being taken by the military government and the courts need to be seen in the context of an ongoing foreign orchestrated insurgency not dissimilar to those that led Libya and Syria to disaster. Cartalucci engaged the Global Research News Hour in an email interview which is reprinted below in its entirety. The email dialogue was voiced, for radio purposes, by Global Research guest host Jon Wilson and regular host Michael Welch.   LISTEN TO THE SHOW Length (58:54) Click to download the audio (MP3 format) The Global Research News Hour airs every Friday at 1pm CT on CKUW 95.9FM in Winnipeg.
