In this episode, Michaela talks about her own mental health journey that led her to use MCP (Mushrooms Containing Psilocybin, commonly known as Magic Mushrooms) and why she and her brother Zach wrote Blue Honey – Personal Experiences Using Psilocybin for Mental Health in Aotearoa. I've been following what's happening in the psychedelic space since reading Michael Pollan's How to Change Your Mind - The New Science of Psychedelics. Psychedelics are on the precipice for radically changing how we treat mental health – in particular, depression, end-of-life anxiety, PSTD and addiction (especially alcoholism and drug addiction). Disclaimer: The legal status of psilocybin mushrooms varies worldwide. In New Zealand, psilocybin is a class A substance, and in the USA, it's schedule 1. We're not encouraging anyone to take these substances but to raise awareness. It can be dangerous to take these substances with prescribed medicines or other substances. In this episode, you will learn about: Michaela's long and arduous struggle with mental health, her decision to come off all medication, and being prepared to die. Her brother Zack getting their parent's blessing for Michaela to try MCP. What happened after her first dose (experiencing hope!) Weighing up the risks—being seen as a criminal in the eyes of the law and being imprisoned—or living, getting better and saving herself by taking healing into her own hands. Writing Blue Honey (with her brother Zach) to raise awareness of the healing power of MCPs, given the general misunderstanding of psychedelic substances. Horror stories of people taking a hallucinogenic and having a ‘bad trip' - seeing the Grim Reaper and what that symbolised to her. Acknowledging PTSD as the underlying cause of her suffering (and why traditional approaches weren't working) What it means to have a ‘come to Jesus moment', curing ‘assholism', and ‘psychedelic bitch-slaps! How psilocybin differs from traditional approaches. Somatic experiencing – and why that's so important. Having a guide or Shaman is incredibly important, as well as understanding that these substances are not magic bullets. Her advice to anyone wanting to try MCPs. Susan is a decorated endurance athlete competing in three marathons, and dozens of triathlons and has the distinction of finishing third in her age group at the treacherous Escape from Alcatraz event. After living with force on both coasts of the United States, Susan heeded an intuitive call for a quieter life and now resides in the northwest corner of the mystical state of Montana with her beloved partner and their pets. Keen on leaving a legacy to help others heal from challenges she's successfully met, Toxic Family: Transforming Childhood Trauma into Adult Freedom, is part of that quest. Gunjani shares her personal experiences with postpartum anxiety and major life changes, and how these led her to focus on helping women navigate change and uncertainty. She discusses various therapeutic modalities, the importance of self-care, setting boundaries, and overcoming perfectionism. Embracing Change: Gunjani's personal experience with postpartum anxiety and major life changes led her to specialize in helping women navigate through life's uncertainties with grace. She reminds us that our brains are wired for familiarity, and any change, even positive, can trigger stress responses. Postpartum Anxiety: Gunjani debunked the misconception that postpartum depression or anxiety only occurs immediately after childbirth. She opened up about her struggles, reminding us of the importance of seeking help and addressing our issues. The Power of Therapy: Gunjani shared her transformative journey through therapy, exploring modalities like past life regression, energy work, and EMDR. She emphasized the importance of treating trauma and helping individuals manifest the life they desire. Therapy is a top-down approach. Post-Traumatic Growth: Gunjani introduced the concept of post-traumatic growth, emphasizing the importance of seeking help promptly after trauma to set oneself up for growth and prevent the reinforcement of neural pathways associated with the trauma. Honoring Our Body's Limits: It's important to recognize our body's limits when it comes to healing and personal growth. Listen to your body and gauge your level of distress, here's a gentle reminder that it's okay to approach healing with caution. Bottom-up approaches like breathwork and somatic work are very supportive in healing processes. Non-Negotiable Habits: Gunjani shared her daily practices, including setting an intention for the day and practicing mudras, a hand gesture that activates certain energy points in the body. She guided us through this practice, emphasizing the importance of self-care and setting boundaries. Gunjani's mantra "I am powerfully peaceful" as you practice the mudra. Gift to the Community: Gunjani generously offered a three-part training with an audio-guided meditation called "Breathing Your Way to Emotional Freedom and Elevating Yourself to Your Full Potential." This week we are welcoming back for the third time: Podcast regular, ritual abuse, child trafficking, and mind control survivor, mother, entrepreneur, tattoo cover-up extraordinaire, artist, gallery and tattoo shop owner, podcast host of her own NEW YouTube channel @Desert Dakini, educator, and walking miracle - Carrie Ol-ah-hey!In case you're new here or missed Carrie's first episode where she walks us through her testimony - here's a short recap: Carrie was born into a multi-generational incest-based family and from a young age was sold into government and military-sanctioned mind control programs with the goal of making her a child assassin, sex slave, and ritual butcher. Her abuse was perpetuated initially by her father who then passed her on to other owners and handlers who furthered her programming, trafficking and ritual abuse. I encourage you all to go watch her important testimony as she quite literally paints us a few massive disclosures that give deeper insights into the operational aspects of satanic rituals and abuses that happen within these occult networks. The second time Carrie was on, we dug into more programming including ‘Core Split' programming as well as answered a lot of questions people have on dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder. Both of these episodes are huge keys in this big puzzle, and I'll have Carrie's playlist below in the show notes! This time around, Carrie is going to dive deeper into some topics that we haven't covered much or at all on this podcast including trauma programming and animal alters, what it's like for survivors to experience memory recall and the PSTD that comes with it before and during, blackmail, child snuff and pornography, communicating with different alters as they come out, human hunting and more. You do not want to miss this one. If you've watched Carrie's other episodes, you have seen her gift of story-telling and expressing her horrific experiences using art and how it helps deepen our own understanding of the ‘unfathomable'. Carrie's ability to break down such complex subject matter into palatable bites for us to chew on has had such a huge impact on me and I know from the comments, viewership on her videos, and requests to have her back on the show - that all of you were just as deeply impacted by her as I was. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Carrie is one of the sweetest and kindest people I have - which is ironic because she's also experienced some of the most horrific things humanly possible in her life that could and should have made her into the generational perpetrator her abusers invested so much time, energy and money to try to force her to be. Despite their best efforts to shatter and break her in every way possible, the very weapon they honed her to become to serve their dark agendas would- as Carrie says - become the same honed weapon that is now pointed and used against them. Carrie's disclosures are so brave and give a voice to all the children who lost their lives and all the victims who lost their voices. She's a true living testament to the strength and power of the human spirit and a walking miracle.CONNECT WITH CARRIE: YouTube: desert dakini - YouTubeCONNECT WITH THE IMAGINATION: All Links: Emma Katherine on Direct.meSubstack: Emma's Substack | Emma Katherine | SubstackEmail: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comTwitter: (20) TheEmmapreneur (@TheEmmapreneur) / X (twitter.com)YouTube: (2) The Imagination Podcast - YouTubeSupport the show

Are you thinking about starting an art therapy private practice? Do you struggle with getting clients? Have you tapped into the resources within your network and direct community? The great thing about private practice is that even though the process of building it is unique to you (with your preferences and niche), there are so many things that you can learn from your fellow clinicians. In this podcast episode, Tamara and I discuss a wide range of topics, from getting involved in the community to networking, the art therapy niche, and working ethically. MEET TAMARA Tamara was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and went to Lakehead University graduating with a visual arts and education degree. Tamara enrolled in the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI) in 2017 and graduated as a registered art therapist in 2019. She is a Registered Psychotherapist and runs her own practice in Thunder Bay. Learn more about Tamara on her Psychology Today profile and practice website. In this episode: Art therapy as a treatment modality Work ethically Locating your practice Experimenting with schedules Develop your networking skills Art therapy as a treatment modality Art therapy is a therapeutic process whereby people use artistic practices like painting or drawing to help clients process emotions, self-regulate, or access mental spaces that are soothing and gentle amidst trauma in the early stages of treatment. Art therapy can be used to treat first responders because this modality has been shown to reduce PSTD symptoms, and it can also be relatively non-verbal which is a plus for most first responders seeking therapy. Work ethically If you are working in a small town, or you are providing therapy for a niche of people that you once worked with, it is important that you get your ethics right to continue providing great therapy without harming yourself or your clients. If you aren't within a regulated province, you can still reach out to the CCPA for assistance. In another Fearless Practice Podcast episode with Lindsey, we discussed lobbying the government for regulation – if you are interested in this topic, give it a listen! Locating your practice For Tamara, she preferred to keep her practice space separate from her home. She wanted to have that physical distance to maintain a personal and relaxing space away from work. However, you can decide how you want to set up your Canadian private practice; online, in-person, at an office, or your home. You can set it up as best suits you and the needs of your clients! Even then, if you would prefer to work for another private practice instead of running your own, you can do that too! Experimenting with schedules If you work for yourself, you can create a schedule that fits both your needs and the needs of your clients, and that includes their schedules as well. When the seasons change, people's activities change as well. Every therapist knows the dips and rises of seeing clients. What would happen if you changed your schedule every few months to match the busyness of the season? That's what Tamara does, and it allows her to see clients regularly throughout the year. Develop your networking skills Use your contacts within the community! The managers at the gyms, the restaurants, the players at your sports center, the massage therapists, the landlords in business sectors, the receptionists at businesses. Speak to people, because it's one of the best things that you can do for your business. It is the start of the summer slowdown where I'll post less often as I try to catch up on my sleep and elocution skills. I've been talking a lot lately and I can hear multiple imperfections. Really a bad idea to do five things at the same time. Anyway, last week's error has created this episode. As a standing warning. Never upgrade as you are working on a project. I've gotten away with it before but not last week. It destroyed my audio file. Totally my fault. I knew better but didn't do better. I spoke about my now PSTD reaction to finding pile after pile after pile of plastic bags that my sister (who NEVER throws them away) had stored throughout my house in a previous episode. After watching a report from ABC News called Trashed: The Secret Life of Plastic Recycling that there was an option that had never crossed my mind. Isn't that the way so many things are? We convince ourselves of an outcome, or our potential and we never challenge that thought. We never check to see if it is still true. When I was a teenager, I worked in a grocery store. If someone walked in with a big bag (or a winter coat when it was warm outside) someone was going to watch you through the store to make sure you didn't shoplift. Now it is encouraged so the store doesn't have to pay for the bag you are using. So what is the cure for plastic bags? Quit using them. Yep, that is an option and I spent $20 on Amazon and bought three usable grocery bags. My problem of always having a bag of bags that I always forget to bring with me when I go to the store (and then stuff more bags into the bag of bags) is solved. For me, who just HATED these bags, this is a big deal that was solved for $20. You can find cheaper versions as well. If your water is drinkable from the tap, then, call me crazy... use it. If it's not then looking into a Brita Water Filter will save you money in the long run. Americans buy 29 billion water bottles a year. When I go to trade shows, I can always pick up some kind of metal 20 oz water bottle that keeps things cool, or you can buy an insulated metal water bottle with a chug lid (who doesn't love a good chug lid). for $13. So why are we even using plastic bags (I know the idea was to save the trees, but in saving the trees we have a serious plastic issue now), the answer is simple. Who is involved in making these super thin plastic bags? The Big Oil, and Big Chemical industries. Well, that answers a lot. P.S. The book I was reading about the guy in the closet is Winning the War in Your Mind: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life by Craig Groeschel. Enjoy the show? Buy Dave a Coffee.

Today's episode is a special one. I'm joined by my friend and birthday twin, Carrie Katz, on our birthday, February 7th. Carrie's a fellow somatic psychotherapist and as you've probably surmised, my birthday twin extraordinaire. Together we celebrate our birthday and discuss ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and answer listeners' questions about the ins and outs of determining whether you could benefit from ketamine. I candidly share how I've benefited from ketamine-assisted journeys to reboot my nervous system. While Carrie shares about her client work, using her knowledge to answer all your questions. We discuss the recent large transitions Carrie has gone through with the loss of her dad, her son going to college, and the disbanding of Rosen Coven, a band she's traveled the world with for over two decades. If you've ever considered doing a Ketamine journey with a professional to help you with your anxiety, depression, PSTD, complex PTSD, ODC and more–this is the episode for you. We do a deep dive into people who are potentially good candidates for ketamine therapy and circumstances when it's inappropriate. We also talk at length about the difference between social use, versus therapeutic use, especially since so many people self-medicate. Carrie ends the episode with a beautiful rose in the heart meditation sometimes used in the ketamine space.
As a service industry professional, whether in the military or as a first responder. Accidents are inevitable, and you never know when they will occur. When you reach the point of no longer being able to serve, you might feel down or useless. This may be because you believe there are no opportunities for you outside. But, our guest for today will break through those false instincts that others tend to believe. Consider and realize a few things. Being of service to others is important, but so is being of service to yourself. You might be suffering from PSTD without realizing it. This condition was also discussed in today's episode. If you feel alone and want to speak to someone about the feelings you are experiencing, listen up. The topic for today might be helpful to you. Donald Ross has retired from the United States Marine Corps and worked as a contracting officer for many years. A sudden, unforeseen event led to his early retirement. It was then that he realized he needed to open his own business. Because he has experience in contracting, he and his wife started PAD Home Buyers LLC together, and they now run an Easy Button REI program using automation. Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM), they simplify the lives of Real Estate Entrepreneurs. As part of his work, he also established a Facebook group aimed at helping veterans and first responders. As well as having a YouTube channel, he posts videos about how he's helping others and his community. Why you need to check today's episode: Get to know what a real estate business is all about and what the term lease option means. Get a better understanding of the importance of real estate in your life. What you will learn about this business and how it can give you financial freedom without sacrificing your family time. Plus; Discover what your options are after leaving the service. What lies ahead for you after you leave? What is PSTD, and how can it affect your well-being and others? And why you must be aware of the importance of taking care of yourself before serving others. “Part of life is getting knocked down and, quote-unquote, failing. I'm not gonna say that you necessarily fail if you keep going, but failing and understanding give you something small, and each time, you get slightly better at something. That's really to me. That's been the key.” - Donald Ross Topics Covered: 00:35 “As a 21-year-old man, boy, whatever you want to call it, I found out I was having a kid. And I had to make some stuff happen and have insurance and do some things. And so I literally signed up for the Marine Corps.” A brief introduction to Donald Ross 6:02 - “When I got out? For me, I was lucky in the sense that I had got a four-year bachelor's degree. I have some certificates in logistics and contracting. And I was able to land a good job with Northrop Grumman on the F 18 Super Hornet program. So I started with them literally two weeks after I got medically retired from the Marine Corps” During the conversation, Donald recounts his activities after he left the Marine Corps. 10:43 - "There's a couple of differences in there. And these were all really good-paying jobs. And I was getting to a point where I was like, Dude, what the hell is wrong with me? Like, something's wrong with me because I'm getting nice jobs that people would kill for. But this ain't fun to me. And with that, I kept pushing on the real estate and did the first remote lease option. I think it was roughly $4500 bucks that I made from California in Wisconsin.” This is Donald's story about how he became a real estate investor. 14:08 - “ I had a separate piece of paperwork that was an option to buy. And they have then put down money for that option to buy. They didn't have to buy it, but they had the option to buy it, and I will tell you, I know because I was contacted by them later. They did not buy. So for me, I got to keep that money that I made because it was just the option to buy. There was no return policy, refund policy, none of that” Real estate businesses use a term called a lease option. What does it mean? 16:31 - “So essentially, somewhere where you're storing your data and working your sales process, and your customers' information. And so I tried using those that worked. I need to have some way of automating this process and having it where I can have it on the go.” In this episode, Donald explains how to manage your time effectively. For example, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) can help you with your business to make things easier for you, especially regarding sales. 21:41 - “I was being groomed to be a higher-up manager, actually, within the first year. But I also saw that that high level was at the time a lady that was in her 60s had a child that was younger, and she was literally answering emails on Sundays at 10 pm. And I already had a young daughter that just got born; I had a daughter that was about six or seven at that time. And it was like. This is not what I want from my life,” Despite a huge opportunity coming into his life, Donald remained true to his values. As a person who values family above all else, he realizes it is the most meaningful aspect of his life. More than anything, he wants to spend time with his family. 25:05 - “I'm now putting out different videos on resources for first responders and veterans. What different programs are out there, everything from PTSD, depression, how to buy a house, different things that I've been through in life, finding your identity, your why, and how you set goals? I mean, these are things that not everyone understands really well.” In what ways does he help veterans and first responders find their purpose and identity? The veteran acknowledges that not all veterans and first responders achieve their life goals. 43:05 - “So we've been reaching out to our members to see what we can do to help. How can we help them kind of figure out some of the numbers, maybe, and what other people are saying is working or not working? How are people adjusting to the current market and where it's kind of headed? So there's that focus on the CRM side of things. Obviously, the first responder - veteran side of things is putting out content and things that are available out there for our community.” A discussion of what Donald's group is doing and how they are helping their subscribers. 47:29 - “We got nailed with an IRS audit. I was not aware I have a fancy CPA that we pay. They did all the paperwork, and we filed for the tax credit that we got. And we thought it was the property and both buildings, and we have a large garage pole barn on the property. And they let us no, no, no, that is not the case. So you know, learning to learn as we go.” An interesting bit of information about taxes is shared by Donald. 59:31 - “Understand that part of life is getting knocked down and quote unquote, failing. I'm not gonna say that you necessarily fail if you keep going, but failing and understanding that gives you something small, and each time gets slightly better at something. That's really to me. That's been the key.” This a piece of advice he would give himself when he was younger Key Takeaways: “A lot of the PTSD issues. So if your testosterone levels drop down to 200, and you never get a check, you actually have some of the same symptoms as PTSD guys would. So this is one of the things that I really want to hammer home in this podcast is that ‘your health is very important. Whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, it actually doesn't matter. So you need to pay attention to yourself inwardly first, don't ignore yourself to help other people. Because the long term, it's not going to benefit the people around you if you are beaten up, torn up broken down. So focus on yourself first, and you go out and reach out and help other people. Don't ignore yourself and use yourself as a stepping stone for somebody else until you're comfortable and confident and your abilities and who you are.” - Mike Foster “Now figure out, figure out what is your ideal day, week, month, year. And how do you get there? And maybe you don't have the full answer. You just have bits and pieces. And as long as you're making slight adjustments towards that each day. That's all I can really ask for. I think that the biggest thing is I was not happy with where I was at. And rather than bitching, moaning, complaining, and Tyler telling the world how unfair it was, I figured out a way.” - Donald Ross “I'm now putting out different videos on resources for first responders and veterans, what different programs are out there everything from PTSD, depression, how to buy a house, different things that I've been through in life, finding your identity, your why, how do you set goals, I mean, these are things that not everyone understands really well. And especially if they're younger, when they get out of the military, it can be super hard to figure out what they want to do and how to do it. And so life after serving is the group that I put together and the channel for a YouTube, and that's really what the purpose is, at this point, is how do I help other people that are part of our community and give them some different outlets and channels, and if they ever need help, who they can reach out to.” - Donald Ross Connect with Donald Ross: Instagram: REI Automation Squad (@reiautomationsquad) • Instagram photos and videos Website: REI Automation Squad YouTube: REI Automation Squad - YouTube LinkedIn: Donald Ross | LinkedIn Connect with First Responder Financial Freedom: Website: https://firstresponderfinancialfreedom.com/ Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/First-Responder-Financial-Freedom-104285545708905 Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/516680892660393 YouTube: First Responder Financial Freedom - YouTube

While I don't know Logan Cohen personally his authenticity, the deep work he has done on himself, and his willingness to feel his feelings and allow his vulnerability to shine through. I'm moved by the vital offering Logan contributes to the world as an author, a psychotherapist, and a trauma professional. He is bringing quality content to TikTok and IG, as well as through his work with couples and individuals in private practice. Logan Cohen is a remarkable man driven by a purpose, being of service, helping men develop emotional intelligence, and educating people about the impacts of trauma. In his book “How to Hu(Man) Up in Modern Society: Heal Yourself and Save the World,” he puts gender role conditioning into a historical and social context. We discuss the importance of healing within the community, his work with volatile couples, and dealing with narcissists. Plus, we speak about how the suicide of his friend led him to write his book, the work he had to do in his personal and professional life to see his privilege as a man and unlearn his social and emotional conditioning, and his close relationship with his grandfather, who was holocaust survivor on Schindler's List and how that has informed his commitment to building empathy in the world and being of service. We wrap up the episode with Logan leading an exercise around developing more awareness and connection to what you are feeling. There's so much essential content in this episode, which is why I'm starting the season with it. I hope you're ready to be as impacted by Logan's work as I am.
