Colorado Republican Tina Peters is headed to jail. As a former Colorado county clerk, she promoted Trump's 2020 election lies and was behind a security breach of Mesa County's voting system. In other words, she tried to cheat and take the voice away from the voters she was supposed to protect. The judge in the case had extremely harsh words for her actions. Republican Liz Cheney appeared at a campaign rally alongside Kamala Harris in Wisconsin yesterday. Officials say all are expected to survive. The teen was to be taken to a regional youth detention facility on Thursday. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration has announced criminal charges, the seizure of internet domains and sanctions related to Russian disinformation efforts to influence the U.S. presidential election. Much of the concern around Russia centers on cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns designed to influence the November vote. The tactics include using state media like RT to advance anti-U.S. messages and content, as well as networks of fake websites and social media accounts that amplify the claims and inject them into American’s online conversations. Happy Presidents Day. It's a good day to contemplate whether Joe Biden has a prayer of keeping a Democratic House and Senate next year. Call me a hopeless optimist, but I think he does. Yes, I know: Republicans are suppressing votes, Democrats are hopeless at messaging, Biden's poll numbers are in the basement. But let me give you ten reasons why I think there's a decent chance Democrats can maintain control of both the House and the Senate, and maybe even gain some seats. First: It's likely that job growth between now and November will remain strong (if the Fed doesn't ruin everything by raising interest rates too high, too soon). We're still 3.5 million jobs short of where we were in February 2020 — giving the economy lots of room to grow. Biden and the Democrats can take credit for putting the economy back on track. Second: Inflation will begin edging downward, as supplies of goods increase and demand shifts back to services — removing the one big economic negative. If Omicron infections continue to drop, the decline in inflation could start as early as April.Third: When the pandemic seems to be over — and there's a good chance it will feel over by the spring — the nation will breathe a huge collective sigh of relief, and Biden can take credit for getting shots into the arms of 80 percent of Americans.Fourth: If tensions continue or escalate with Russia over Ukraine – or, lord help us, Russia invades Ukraine – America will unite behind its Commander-in-Chief. Republicans and Democrats in Congress are already demonstrating a remarkable degree of unity over Russia. War is horrific, of course, but it tends to garner support for those in power (at least in its months). Fifth: Democrats will almost certainly pass Build Back Better in some form this spring. It won't be nearly as ambitious as the original, but probably enough to generate some visible benefits for families. Republicans will, of course, oppose it, which means even more help for Democrats in November. To pay for Build Back Better, Democrats will increase taxes on corporations and the super-rich (even Joe Manchin is in favor of doing this). Republicans will surely fight these measures to protect rich corporations. Another big plus for Democrats.Sixth: The courts are pushing back against Republican gerrymandering, giving Democrats better opportunities to hold on to or gain seats. Seventh: In late spring, Republican appointees on the Supreme Court are likely to overturn Roe v. Wade. Evangelicals will be delighted, but most Americans will be horrified – adding to their motivation to back Democrats in November. Eighth: The findings of the January 6 Committee will be reported. It won't be a pretty picture for Trump or the Republican Party. If Democrats are wise, they'll let Republican Liz Cheney, vice-chair of the committee, lead the charge – presenting the findings and blasting traitorous Trump and seditionist Republicans on every TV network, radio outlet, and whistle-stop around the country. Reminded of the sedition, more voters will swing toward Democrats. Ninth: In light of this report – and desperate to keep the 2024 Republican nomination for himself – Trump will increase the volume and intensity of his wacko conspiracy theories and other lies. This will motivate even more Democrats as well as Independents and moderate Republicans to vote for Democrats in November. Tenth and finally: If they're smart, Joe Biden and the Democrats will center their midterm campaign message on the vulnerability of average working Americans to big corporations and Wall Street, which continue to siphon off most economic gains while the typical American is barely holding on. Biden and other Democrats will show that the GOP remains the party of trickle-down economics, corporate welfare, and crony capitalism – a party that's been blocking a slew of common-sense Democratic measures to help working Americans — which, they'll argue, is why we need more Democrats in the House and Senate. Presto. A huge turnout in favor of Democrats this November, which results in Democrats retaining or even increasing their margins in the House and Senate. Is this really possible? Democrats have snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory too many times for me to feel confident. But the scenario I've sketched is far from being out of the question. What do you think? This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit robertreich.substack.com/subscribe

Biden official dispels the hysteria of the IRS looking at your every transaction. It's false: Treasury Department Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo made it clear that the IRS will not be going after information in the average American's bank accounts. They are looking for tax cheats. Rich people steal from the average American every year by not paying over $150 Billion in taxes. That money then has to be borrowed. We all then pay the interest and principal. It is more than welfare for the rich. It is theft because as they lend us back the money, that interest is theft. Republican pundit scare tactic: Wage increases are inflationary. Hey, what about profit increases?: When the worker gets more money via wage increases, it is inflationary. When the rich stockholder and executives get increased incomes via dividends and bonuses respectively because they have pricing power, that inflation is tolerated without mention. Republican Liz Cheney destroys her Party as she votes to punish Steve Bannon's refusal to testify: Liz Cheney started her prose by stating there was no “no conceivably applicable privilege” that could shield Steve Bannon from testifying to the January 6th commission. She said his refusal to testify forces the committee to seek consequences. After making a few more prescient statements, she lit into Republican politicians. Tom Bowman asks What if Solving the Climate Crisis is Simple: Author Tom Bowman believes that the solution to the climate crisis is easier than we believe. Is he right? He explains! He visited with us to discuss his new books “What if Solving the Climate Crisis is Simple” and “Empowering Climate Action in the United States.”--- If you like what we do please do the following! Republican Liz Cheney is currently on a brave advocacy for truth. Her calling out of Donald Trump and decision to choose a different path from the GOP resulted in her House of Representative ousting. Bill Stierle and Tom delve into this path she currently treads, reflecting how the politician pulls into the spotlight the importance of the rule of law and her work in unraveling the truth amid the messy political rifts. They also touch upon Trump's messaging that continues to put a flawed brand to his own party and the entire country. Bill and Tom also enumerate situations where the public is put under a curse and spell of messages, from the ongoing pandemic to the complicated unrest in Afghanistan.Love the show? Republican Liz Cheney’s lonely stand against the Trumpists is a political story, on one level. On another level, we ask: what deeper story is this a part of? What happens when the coherence of a world is blown apart by the corruption of language in the service of lies? And what public redemptive language do we have, to fight back? Our show pushes back against the unexamined, often unconscious ways that we frame public questions using political or economic modes of thinking. We aim to be part of a growing movement of people who are critical of the narrowness of political and economic categories, and who want to revive a vision of human flourishing that is grounded in the wisdoms of theological and moral philosophical tradition. We see these habits and ways of thinking as being pre-political, and foundational to a healthy and civil shared life in families, communities, economies, and polities. In short, we want to foster conversations, develop habits, and create communities that are grounded in curiosity, going deep, and shining light. Craven Trump cult Republicans ousted Liz Cheney from leadership. Traitorous GOP pile Paul Gosar described Ashli Babbitt's death during the January 6th siege as an execution. AG Merrick Garland said white supremacists are the biggest threat to the union. Ousted from her leadership role, Republican Liz Cheney vowed to fight Trump. Q-loon DeAnna Lorraine said the Feds wanted Americans seated on the floor at home eating worms. Colonial Pipeline said they weren't paying the ransom demanded by the hackers. Self-appointed Bishop Larry Gaiters blathered horrific lies about Joe Biden and the first family. The evangelical wanker even suggested Beau Biden's death in 2015 was a sacrifice to satan. Ellen DeGeneres announced the end of her daytime show. After three weeks, a Zoo in China finally alerted nearby residents that one of their leopards escaped. A Hawaiian teen expressed eagerness to return to the water after eluding death during a violent assault from a shark forty yards from shore. A bear in Colorado ate a bunch of people. The head UK royal demanded her image be removed from the "Trump Train." Cops in Cali are trained in VR to be racist.

Tim Tebow is going to get a chance to make the Jacksonville Jaguars, and many people are not happy about it. But why? LibSyn|YouTube Support the show: Patreon|PayPal: 1x or monthly|Square Cash If you’re like me, you’ve been perfecting your lip-syncing to David Waldman’s two commercials that have played continuously for years and years of our KITM podcasts. Well, time is running out, as KITM is finally changing things up with the introduction of GUEST SPOKESPEOPLE — like you! To show you how its done, long-time listener/supporter Gil Aquino wrote and performed his very own minute commercial, David spiffed it up and it was just that easy. Try it! Greg Dworkin could produce his own plug for the show, but he’s been busy rehearsing that ventriloquism act with Abby, and hauling in huge rafts of important news and punditry to share with us. Cancel culture claimed Republican Liz Cheney in a blink of an eye. Liz Cheney was no angel by the way. She is in fact, pretty awful. But, Liz’s latest stand might be more than that of a Never (again) Trumper. It wasn’t just about telling the “Big Truth”, but about any truth ever mattering again. Republicans are now for or against democracy. There is no room for a middle in the party anymore, even if there might be with their voters. The GQP will try to lie to the public, they might try to lie to themselves, but they can never trust each other again. Joe Biden’s popularity is rising, because lies don’t work on Joe. Republicans won’t need lies if they can change laws. Of course, they can’t change laws without a lot of lying. Roy Blunt wouldn’t give water to anyone he wasn’t trying to manipulate. Gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner assures voters that she’d rather golf than consider their issues, but probably just said that for the votes. Evangelicals in Virginia apparently don’t care about the truth, or lies… or facts really. The NRA’s lies aren’t working at all anymore. The founder of Students for Trump lied so much that he lost track of who he was. He now has 13 months in prison to find himself. An expert panel looking into the handling of the Covid pandemic have decided that “mistakes were made”… kind of like in Chernobyl. Plenty of Americans still want the vaccine, but as in voting, the problem is access.
Biden gave a speech in Congress, which was historic mainly because it was the first time the president's 2nd and 3rd in line of succession were two women, which Vice President Harris and Speaker Pelosi celebrated with a cool little elbow-bump. It was a scene that had every woman in America wondering, how high is Biden's cholesterol exactly? Republican Liz Cheney responded to critics who slammed her for giving President Biden a fist-bump before his address to Congress by saying "We're not sworn enemies. We're Americans". You gotta understand, in the Cheney family, a fist bump is the highest form of respect. The second highest is a shotgun blast to the face. Did you guys catch this? Ted Cruz was caught napping during Biden's speech, which he later called "boring but radical". Well Sleepy Ted, maybe if you hadn't been dozing off, you would have noticed your father assassinating JFK! In conspiracy theory news, the latest lie conservatives are spreading is that Joe Biden is banning red meat, which of course is not even slightly true. In fact, Joe loves beef so much, he just invited Kanye and Taylor Swift to the White House on the same day. Another lie Fox News is pushing is that Kamala Harris' book was being given out to all migrant children, which was such a fake story, the "journalist'' who wrote it quit the New York Post for forcing her to write it. Look, if anyone does plan to give a book to every migrant child, might I suggest Derek Taylor Kent's bilingual classic, El Perro con Sombrero. My friend Derek assures you that I will receive no kickbacks for the ensuing bulk sales. In White House pet news, the Bidens will be getting a cat as the newest four-legged member of the first family, and their German Shepherd "Major" is currently being trained to accept him. The real breakthrough was when they realized the way to get Major to respect the cat is by naming him "General". It goes against the previous administration's tradition of naming pussies lurking around the White House "Jared Kushner". Finally, big news for the wax world: Kamala Harris will be Madame Tussaud's first ever vice president wax statue. Here's the clay model of Kamala they're using. Something's off, it doesn't seem creepy enough. There we go.
