We have Daniel Schlagwein on the show, who is what Germans call a "Tausendsassa:" He is both a practitioner and researcher of digital nomadism, the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Information Technology, and president of the AIS special interest group on Grounded Theory Methodology. We touch upon all three of these aspects, but at the core we want to know from Daniel whether generative AI tools are automating grounded theory and thereby eliminate what used to be at the heart of a humanistic and constructionist approach to doing research – or are they merely leveling the playing field for qualitative field researchers by giving them computational support matching those tools that quantitative researchers have had for a long time. Attorney Ken Riemer is a South Alabama native who is an exceptional consumer lawyer. Some academics go into the office every day; some are rarely ever seen on campus. Is one way better than the other? Who better to ask than the brilliant Ella Hafermalz who spent her career on the topic of remote work and its implications for belonging, community, collaboration, and performance. On this episode the guys are joined by Red Sox infield prospect Justin Riemer who just wrapped up his first season playing in Boston's system. Justin missed the 2023 season after he was drafted following an ACL injury suffered in college. He goes over his road to recovery, playing pro ball, the differences between college and pros and more.

In the latter half of 1985, a series of brutal killings rocked the quiet woods of Mineral, Washington. On August 10, 1985, 27-year-old Steven Harkins and his 42-year-old girlfriend, Ruth Cooper, departed from their home in Tacoma, Washington, for a weekend camping trip at Tule Lake in Pierce County. Four days later, on August 14, hikers in Pierce County found Harkins shot dead in his sleeping bag at a remote campsite, with the couple's dog also killed nearby. On October 26, Cooper's skull was found near Harts Lake, 1.5 miles from Harkins' body. Two days later, her body and purse were discovered 50 feet away. A tube sock was tied around her neck, and she had died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.In December 1985, Mike Riemer, 36, his girlfriend Diana Robertson, 21, and their 2-year-old daughter Crystal traveled from Tacoma to Pierce County to find a Christmas tree. Later that evening, Crystal was found alone outside a Kmart in Spanaway, saying her "Mommy was in the trees." Two months later, Diana's body was discovered near Riemer's truck, with a tube sock around her neck and 17 stab wounds. Investigators suspected Riemer, who had disappeared, might be responsible, though some believed he was also a victim.
