Introduction In Part 2, Aneace Haddad dives into leading teams in chaotic times. Learn how to ditch the “addiction to certainty” and build a C-suite that thrives in ambiguity. Summary Aneace reveals why even seasoned leaders struggle with uncertainty in teams – and how to foster collective resilience. He shares practical steps to shift from “closing the deal” to staying open, using neuroscience and real-world examples. Highlights Why “herding cats” fails: Building a C-suite team ≠ stacking superstar individuals. The paradox: Comfort with uncertainty grows with age, but teams resist it. How to expand your “ownership” beyond your role (like driving a bigger vehicle). Key Takeaways Certainty is a trap. Teams that rush to answers miss innovative solutions. Practice “radically empowering presence.” Your calm fuels others' confidence. Lead like a coach, not a CEO. Your role isn't to fix – it's to fan flames. Next Steps Audit your team: Do we default to “closing” discussions too fast? Pre-order Aneace's upcoming book The First Rule of Herding Cats for C-suite strategies. Share this episode with your leadership team to spark a “certainty detox.”

In this episode, Cindy Esliger addresses one of the frustrating aspects of collaborative work: when not every person involved is as invested in pulling their weight and getting the job done as you are. While it might be tempting to go it alone, that isn't the solution. The reality of collaborative work can feel like herding cats. Cindy dives into how to navigate the minefield of disengagement, obstruction, and conflicting ideas with teamwork intact and without losing sanity. Why is every person involved in a project not equally invested or competent? That's simply the reality of workplaces and collaborative interaction. Cindy identifies the four main types of people we're likely to encounter and how they operate. 1) the Doers, 2) the Observers, 3) the Drainers, and 4) the Saboteurs. She then offers three tips for handling everyone on a team, regardless of which type they are. 1) Set clear expectations from the start, 2) Encourage accountability, and 3) Use influence.Cindy explores how to identify our own tendencies in a group project. It's possible that we are actually disengaged or indifferent. If so, we need to find a way to contribute meaningfully. She lays out how effective communication works and points out how to avoid simply identifying problems without working toward solutions. Observers can be turned into active contributors using careful strategies, and saboteurs can be redirected without a showdown. This episode is key to learning exactly how to navigate group projects effectively when each team member operates differently. Tony Overbay, LMFT, offers an in-depth exploration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and The Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) to provide a fresh perspective on mindful parenting. The discussion centers around the transformative power of NHA's "Stand 1," which advocates for focusing energy on celebrating children's successes rather than engaging in negative behavior. Additionally, Tony explains the ACT principle of "acceptance," emphasizing the importance of embracing our present experiences without judgment to cultivate a compassionate and supportive family environment. The episode also delves into the Buddhist "First and Second Darts" metaphor, teaching parents how to mitigate distress by managing their reactions to challenging parenting situations. Through practical examples and strategies, Tony demonstrates how these principles can be applied to everyday challenges, such as defiance and fostering positive behaviors. By focusing on these core concepts, the episode aims to empower parents with actionable advice to strengthen their connections with their children, highlighting the critical role of presence and engagement in the parenting journey. 00:00 Introduction: A Letter from a Fan 00:37 The Journey of Parenting: Realizations and Challenges 02:41 The Power of Acceptance in Parenting 03:06 Welcome to the Virtual Couch: Episode 415 03:27 The Overwhelm of Parenting: A Therapist's Perspective 05:19 The Nurtured Heart Approach: A Parenting Model 05:40 The Impact of Social Media on Parenting 12:03 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in Parenting 15:52 Practical Scenarios: Applying the Nurtured Heart Approach and ACT 22:11 Embracing the Chaos: Nurtured Heart Approach and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy 22:49 Understanding the Concept of First and Second Dart Reactions 23:25 Applying the First and Second Dart Concept in Parenting 27:12 The Power of Mindfulness and Acceptance in Parenting 30:59 The Brain's Desire for Certainty and Avoidance of Discomfort 37:01 Embracing Uncertainty and Accepting Experiences 38:06 The Power of Living in the Present Moment 38:48 Final Thoughts and Takeaways Available NOW: Tony's "Magnetic Marriage Mini-Course" is only $25 . https://magneticmarriage.mykajabi.com/magnetic-marriage-mini-course To learn more about Tony's upcoming re-release of the Magnetic Marriage course, his Pathback Recovery course, and more, sign up for his newsletter through the link at https://linktr.ee/virtualcouch Please follow Tony's newest Instagram account for the Waking Up to Narcissism podcast https://www.instagram.com/wutnpod/ as well as Tony's account https://www.instagram.com/tonyoverbay_lmft/ Subscribe to Tony's latest podcast, "Waking Up to Narcissism Q&A - Premium Podcast," on the Apple Podcast App. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/waking-up-to-narcissism-q-a/id1667287384 Go to http://tonyoverbay.com/workshop to sign up for Tony's "Magnetize Your Marriage" virtual workshop. This week on The Geek in Review podcast Marlene Gebauer and Greg Lambert featured guests Colin Levy, Ashley Carlisle, and Dorna Moini discussing Levy's recently published book "Handbook of Legal Tech." Levy edited the book and contributors included Moini, Carlisle's CEO, Tony Thai, and many more legal technology experts. The book provides an overview of key technologies transforming the legal industry like automation, AI, blockchain, document automation, CLM, and more. Levy shared how he ended up editing the book, describing it as "herding cats" to get busy experts to contribute chapters. He wanted the book to serve as a comprehensive introduction to legal tech, with each chapter written by leaders in the various subject matter areas. Carlisle and Moini explained their motivations for taking time out of their demanding schedules to write chapters - spreading knowledge to help move the industry forward and impart insights from their work. The guests reflected on their favorite parts of the experience. Levy enjoyed bringing together the community and seeing different perspectives. Carlisle appreciated being able to consolidate information on contract lifecycle management. Moini was proud to contribute right before having a baby. Lambert highlighted Levy juggling this book and writing his own solo book on legal tech stories from the front lines. The guests offered advice to law students and lawyers looking to learn about and leverage legal tech. Carlisle emphasized starting with an open mind, intentional research, and reading widely from legal tech thought leaders. Moini recommended thinking big but starting small with iterative implementation. Levy stressed knowing your purpose and motivations to stay focused amidst the vast array of options. Lambert prompted the guests to identify low-hanging fruit legal technologies those new to practice should focus on. Levy pointed to document automation and AI. Moini noted that intake and forms digitization can be a first step for laggards. Carlisle advised starting small with discrete tasks before tackling advanced tools. For their forward-looking predictions, Carlisle saw AI hype fading but increasing tech literacy, Levy predicted growing focus on use and analysis of data as AI advances, and Moini forecasted a rise in online legal service delivery. The guests are excited about spreading awareness through the book to help transform the legal industry.

Training your mind. Herding Cats. Same. Same. Feels like, anyway. So much of how we manage our lives, is dependent on our ability to manage our mind and potentially, to train it to 'perform' better. And while there's no three-step plan or fail-proof protocol (of course), a lifetime of training my own mind and a career (four decades) of helping others do the same, has given me some insights that I believe are worth sharing. Tom welcomes geologist and Chairman of Kodiak Copper, Chris Taylor to the show. Chris discusses his family background in minerals and how that lead him to become interested in geology. Chris explains the differences between structural geology and exploration. Structural geology tries to unravel how rock layers formed while exploration is more of a search for new deposits. The two fields have a natural relationship. Chris describes the history of Great Bear and his twelve years of developing the project. He became CEO and did a lot of restructuring. Then they found the Dixie project and the rest is history. They purchased the project in 2015 for $200k and we're able to develop it into a 1.8 billion dollar asset. 3D modeling of the data was key to understanding the site and they were able to determine that it had excellent potential. Keeping the company afloat was difficult but buying when the market was quite weak helped. Those shareholders that invested early saw huge returns. First, they were looking for a project in the right location where a mine could be practical. Second, they wanted the correct types of geology and a site with significant historical data. They had enough data to realize that the site had been misunderstood geologically. One key thing they did was utilize oriented drill cores which helped in targeting the resource. Projects with too much drill activity can be risky because it may indicate poor management and capital allocation. For explorers, transparency is vital when it comes to drilling results. Great Bear's open approach differed from many other companies. He discusses the importance of analyzing drill results and some of the potential red flags in the industry. Look for companies with detailed cross-sections where you can understand the grades and complexities of a site. Chris discusses how the discovery of the 'hinge zone' brought a lot of investor interest but also skepticism. When they reached around a hundred drill holes the interest levels became very high. He describes how the royalty mechanism helped to unlock the potential of the project in the eyes of financiers. It's important to have a team that you can easily work with who are self-motivated, independent-minded, professional, and competent. The incentives are important for success. Lastly, Chris discusses his history with Kodiak Copper and where that project may be heading. He enjoys the exploration business because you can make value out of almost nothing.
