2024-2025 was not the season anyone expected so the guys open up on a lighter note by discussing the 2025 NCAA tournament with bracketologist Fred Umland. The trio breakdown how Khari and Fred fared against the household bracketologist at ESPN, Fox, and CBS along with what the committee got right and where they left us confused. The group closes out bracket talk by discussing likely cinderella stories and choosing their first reaction final fours.Shifting the conversation over to the Hoos, the guys breakdown the season results and the unfortunate news that Ron Sanchez will not be retained at UVA. They then cover some of the rumored coaches like Ryan Odom and Richard Pitino and who they're preferences would be. To bring the podcast home, we discuss next year's roster including the upcoming decision from Chance Mallory, a Charlottesville native that still has UVA in the picture, and then who should be retained from the current UVA roster and what potential transfer portal additions are they excited about.

The timestamp on the email from the UVA Basketball SID announcing that the school was cutting ties with Ron Sanchez was 5:00 p.m. ET on the dot. #TeamAFP's Scott German noted that the FlightAware flight-tracking app had the team in the air over the Virginia-North Carolina border as the email was going out. Sanchez didn't learn his fate by email in the air or when the plane landed in Charlottesville, in case you were wondering. Our contacts down in Charlotte described the scene after Virginia's 66-60 loss to Georgia Tech that bounced the ‘Hoos from the ACC Tournament and ended the 2024-2025 season. From what we were told, Sanchez was ushered into a room ahead of his postgame presser for a quick meeting. We don't know who else was in the room, but we can presume it was the athletics director, Carla Williams. Sanchez was later than usual to the presser, and from a look at the video on YouTube, and a read of the transcript, he knew what was up.

The show — like the stock market and economy — moves in a lot of directions today, with Ron Sanchez, chief investment officer at Fiduciary Trust Company International, saying that there's a "high degree of clarity around the economy," — a level of sustainability and durability that he thinks will last at least through 2026 —  balanced out by a host of policy and regime changes ahead that could impact monetary and fiscal policies, regulation, trades and tariffs and more. He thinks the uncertainty being played over a strong economic backdrop should ensure that the market avoids significant trouble. Jeffrey Bierman, founder of TheQuantGuy.com and chief market technician at TheoTrade, says the stock market is setting up for a "garden-variety, nothing-to-panic, maybe 10 percent corrective move in the market," but that once that is done stocks will consolidate and the market will start to climb higher again. Neither guest thinks big gains are likely in 2025, but both think that high single-digit gains are likely. Also on the show, John Cole Scott of Closed-End Fund Advisors answers audience questions on closed-end fund investing in The NAVigator segment and Chip Lupo discusses a WalletHub survey which showed that some 40 percent of Americans think their bank is taking advantage of them.

For some reason, Memphis coach Penny Hardaway played UVA Basketball for the first 20 minutes on Wednesday night – measured, precise, largely halfcourt basketball. Go figure, it didn't work – the Cavaliers led 30-21 at the break, and seemed poised for the upset of the 21st-ranked Tigers. Hardaway unleashed the hounds of hell on the ‘Hoos in the second half, pressing full court after makes and misses, utilizing halfcourt traps to get Virginia out of its offensive sets. The stratagem turned the nine-point halftime deficit into as much as a nine-point second-half lead before UVA was able to right the ship. Ron Sanchez's steering corrections came too late in what turned into a 64-62 Virginia loss.

That's just an expression, the thing about sniffing glue, and I doubt many UVA sports fans actually partake, but whatever the vice is, you're probably doing more of it now, with your football and basketball teams partying like it's 2009. My effort at helping you find healthier ways to deal with your anxieties is this podcast. The topics: UVA Football: How bad have things gotten, really? An examination SMU left its starting quarterback in to throw a TD pass with 1:42 to go up 33-7, which should p— you off, if you're a UVA Football fan, because SMU doesn't need the style points, since the win here on Saturday puts the Mustangs into the ACC title game, and in control of its own CFP destiny. UVA Football: Tony Elliott isn't interested in your opinion on who should be his QB UVA Footballcoach Tony Elliott has clearly had enough of you idjits who didn't call the plays for Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence as Clemson was winning natties trying to tell him who to play at quarterback. Inside the Numbers: Simplified game plan, play-calling doomed UVA Football offense The UVA Football offense never had a chance on Saturday against SMU, and it started with the game plan, the coaching given to the quarterback, and the play calling. UVA Basketball: The analytics of how bad that trip to the Bahamas was Last week's 70-point night against Villanova in Baltimore seems like a fever dream for UVA Basketball fans, who have the nightmarish 42-point throwback to the 2023-2024 ‘Hoos that ran Tony Bennett out of the sport fresh in their minds. Fair or not, Ron Sanchez doesn't have a lot of time to figure things out Ahead of this week, UVA Basketball hadn't lost back-to-back games by 22 or more since 2008.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head men's basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced Wednesday the hiring of Kotie Kimble as the team's new assistant coach. Kimble's hire is pending the completion of a standard University background check. Kimble comes to The U with 14 years of Division I coaching experience, including the last four at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. “I'm humbled and excited to be a part of the University of Miami basketball program. I'd like to thank Jim Larrañaga for providing me with this amazing opportunity to come work for him, not only in the best conference in the country, but at one of the world's most recognizable schools,” Kimble said. “I also want to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to Ron Sanchez and everyone else who made my time at Charlotte so special. That said, it's truly an honor to be a Miami Hurricane. I will pour all I have into helping this excellent program continue to reach new heights and into assisting our players' pursuit of their goals.” In July 2020, Stadium's Jeff Goodman ranked Kimble as a top-five assistant coach in Conference USA based off an anonymous poll of 20-plus coaches in the league. A renowned recruiter, Kimble helped Charlotte sign the top class in CUSA each of the last four years. Included in that group is Jahmir Young, a three-time All-CUSA honoree, two-time first-team designee and the 2020 CUSA Freshman of the Year. Inheriting a program that went 6-23 in 2017-18, the year before he arrived alongside head coach Ron Sanchez, Kimble helped Charlotte to a 16-13 campaign in 2019-20, good for the team's most wins since 2013-14. The 49ers also went 10-8 in CUSA play in 2019-20 to finish fourth in the league after being picked No. 12 in the preseason poll. It marked the first time the 49ers finished above .500 in conference action since going 9-7 in 2009-10 in the Atlantic 10 and the first time they won double-digit league games since an 11-5 mark in 2005-06 in A10 play. Two years later, during the recent 2021-22 season, the 49ers exceeded that overall win total by going 17-14. Charlotte also again finished 10-8 in CUSA play, giving the team multiple winning league records in a three-year stretch for the first time since 2003-06. The program posted its most road wins (six) since 2011-12 and most conference road victories (four) since 2009-10, both during its A10 era. Meanwhile, Young placed third in the CUSA in scoring at 19.6 points per game, his second straight top-five finish. “Kotie is an excellent addition to our program. He is an intelligent coach with an energetic personality who will mesh well both with the staff members and players already here in Coral Gables,” Larrañaga said. “Kotie's 14 years of coaching experience have him well-prepared to make an immediate impact at Miami. People whom Kotie has worked for and with rave about him. He has climbed his way up through the industry with a strong work ethic, excellent recruiting acumen and tremendous knowledge of the sport.”

Abate says he is waiting for more investment opportunities but that right now it's too late to sell and too early to buy. Also on the show, Tom Lydon of ETFTrends.com announces his ETF of the Week, Paula Fleming of the Better Business Bureaus of New England talks about coronavirus scams, and James Abate of the Centre Funds talks stocks in the Market Call.

Ron Sanchez, chief investment officer at Fiduciary Trust International, said that the current market environment is not great for taking risks, but it also isn't terrific for avoiding risks. That means investors should stay neutral on buying stocks and bonds, putting their portfolios at their basic, starting-level allocations, not overweight or underweight anything while waiting for signs from the market about what will happen next. Also on the show, Jeffrey Hirsch from the Stock Trader's Almanac talks technical analysis, Catherine Yoshimoto from FTSE Russell discusses the reconstitution of Russell's indexes -- which happens after today's market close -- and Doug Cartwright of the Buffalo Emerging Opportunities fund makes his debut in the Market Call.

Ron Sanchez of Fiduciary Trust Co. International said that investors have gotten past the confidence-shaking drop of December, but they should be cautious now because stories about global growth, interest rates and international trade events will go a long way to determining whether the market can continue climbing this year. Also on the show, Michael Gayed of Pension Partners said that the market's technicals also should put investors into wait-and-see mode, as they suggest that stocks are overbought and awaiting a catalyst before a downturn. Thomas Winmill of the Midas Fund talked about gold and precious metals investing -- also fitting into the theme of uncertain times -- and Greg McBride of Bankrate.com discussed a recent survey which showed that 74 million Americans have more in credit-card debt than in emergency savings.
