En el programa El Remate de La Diez Capital Radio nos acompaña hoy nuestra colaboradora Rosi Rivero para hablar de dos fenómenos sociales que están generando curiosidad, debate y también cierta polémica: los therian y el llamado hobby dogging. Los therian son personas que sienten una identificación profunda con un animal, ya sea a nivel simbólico, emocional o identitario. No se trata necesariamente de un trastorno ni de una moda reciente, sino de una subcultura que existe desde hace décadas, aunque ahora se ha visibilizado más gracias a las redes sociales. Por otro lado, el hobby dogging es una tendencia viral en la que algunas personas simulan pasear a un perro imaginario con correa, recreando las rutinas de paseo o adiestramiento sin que haya un animal real. Para unos es un juego, para otros una forma de expresión social, y para muchos simplemente una curiosidad de la era digital. Hoy analizamos estos fenómenos desde la perspectiva social, psicológica y cultural: ¿son simples tendencias pasajeras?, ¿responden a nuevas formas de identidad y ocio?, ¿o reflejan cambios más profundos en la manera en que las personas se relacionan con su entorno y con los animales? Among his most striking and monumental works, his latest details with pointillist precision and unnerving beauty a region in Naples living under the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and above the simmering Campi Flegrei volcanic caldera, which has in recent years experienced increasingly frequent and alarming tremors. In this volatile environment, Rosi finds archeologists reckoning with both uncovered ancient artifacts and the wreckage of tomb raiders, squads of diggers descending into long abandoned tunnels, emergency centers already at breaking points, and a populace experiencing a generalized daily disquietude, fearful of an eruption like the one that buried Pompeii in 79 A.D. Linking modern and ancient life, Pompei: Below the Clouds alights on a specific region yet feels connected to everyone's contemporary moment—the contemplation of the unimaginable nestled within our daily existence. We're joined by Rosi Braidotti, Distinguished University Professor Emerita at Utrecht University and founding director of the Centre for the Humanities, for a wide-ranging conversation on posthumanism as both a philosophical project and a political orientation.Braidotti's work has constructed one of the most sustained and consequential accounts of what comes after the collapse of Eurocentric 'humanism.' The conversation traces the long arc from her early intervention on nomadic subjectivity, a materialist corrective to postmodernism's drift into linguistic relativism, through the ethical and ontological turn that her posthumanist project represents. Where poststructuralism gave us the critique of the subject as origin, nomadism gave us a subject that is grounded, embodied, multiple, and in motion.Central to the episode is the missing link in the American reception of French theory: the radical materialist tradition of Deleuze and Guattari, which diagnosed capitalism's schizophrenic logic (its ability to deterritorialize and adapt faster than any opposition) long before it became common sense. Braidotti traces the suppression of that critique through the French Communist Party's blacklists, the invention of "French theory" as an exportable product stripped of its political economy, and the consequences for a left that lost the ability to think technogenesis, cognitive capitalism, or the mutation of subjectivity under media saturation.The conversation then turns to fascism as concept rather than historical event: the philosophical move that Deleuze and Guattari made and that Foucault named in his preface to Anti-Oedipus. This allows Braidotti to connect micro-fascism (the cult of negativity, the eroticization of power-as-humiliation, the viral spread of impotence) to the coherent neo-fascist philosophical tradition running from Alain de Benoit through the Heritage Foundation and Budapest to Peter Thiel's Yale dissertation on sacrifice. While the left blocked its own analytical capacities, the right was doing serious philosophical work.Against all of this, Bradiotti proposes affirmative ethics: a Spinozist praxis of activating what a body can do. Autors Karlo Levi fašistu režīma laikā tika izsūtīts uz nomaļu ciematu, kur valda gan nabadzība, gan slimības, gan māņticība un gadsimtiem iesakņojušies aizspriedumi. Kaut arī izsūtītais gribētu savā trimdā netraucēti gleznot, ciematnieki ātri vien uzzina, ka viņš ir ārsts, tāpēc viņam nākas palīdzēt arī bez nepieciešamajiem medikamentiem. Vieta, kur viņu neviens netraucē, ir kapsēta. Karlo Levi (1902-1975) bija ārsts, rakstnieks, gleznotājs un antifašists, viens no 20. gadsimta nozīmīgākajiem Itālijas kultūras un politiskās domas pārstāvjiem, bet romānā "Kristus apstājās pie Eboli” (1945) Karlo Levi ir izcils vērotājs. We enter the world of Kosmische Musik thru the psychedelic soundscapes of Manuel Göttsching's Ash Ra Temple. Starring Rosi was the fifth and final Ash Ra LP - and it's definitely the sonic outlier of the batch - the only one that comes close to a traditionally-tracked rock record. The third and final film in the 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman boxset is another film in a long list of looks at the class and culture of Naples, Italy across time - Rossellini's own Paisan, Rosi's Hands over the City (and his Neapolitan Diary), Garrone's Gomorrah, to name a few. While the story of Journey to Italy (1954) is about a British couple decoupling and recoupling while selling a relative's house, Rossellini says he wanted to make a film where Southern Italians were not viewed like "zoo animals", and indeed our main characters become the curiosities as they have a series of crises while interacting with the common people and tourist sites of Naples, a land that, like India in Powell and Pressburger's Black Narcissus, is just too weird for the British mind to comprehend.

One of the highlights of this year's New York Film Festival is the latest feature by the nonfiction master Gianfranco Rosi, known for documentaries like Sacro GRA (2013), Fire at Sea (2016), and Notturno (2020), which paint both lyrical and urgent portraits of places that function as thresholds—between land and water, life and death, heaven and hell. His new cinematic essay, Below the Clouds, brings that approach to the Italian city of Naples. Shot in ethereal black and white, the film explores Naples as an environment both cosmic and prosaic—a city whose skies are suffused with volcanic ash and whose earth is shaken by tremors; and where a glorious and ancient past scaffolds a gritty, melting-pot present.  Below the Clouds premiered in August at the Venice Film Festival, where Film Comment's Devika Girish sat down with the filmmaker for a conversation. The two discussed how Pietro Marcello (director of the NYFF selection Duse) inspired Rosi to make a film in Naples, as well as Rosi's uniquely embedded and immersive technique, and the state of nonfiction cinema today.
