Bridget Phetasy sits down with Peachy Keenan — author of Domestic Extremist and her new book Supervillains: Architects of America's Decline — for a wide-ranging conversation about who's actually driving the country's decline and why the people trying to stay normal are the real heroes. Peachy makes the case that the most damaging villains aren't the famous ones but the "female liberation theologists" peddling what she calls divorce porn — the Eat Pray Love, Glennon Doyle genre that tells women their boring husband and their kids are the thing holding them back. They get into why the grass is almost never greener, why the fight now feels like sane vs. crazy instead of left vs. right, and why Gen X women turned out so based (a theory involving both childhood neglect and the zero-fucks power of menopause). Plus: the manosphere and looksmaxxing takeover of teenage boys, why teenage girls have checked out of politics entirely, the Sydney Sweeney hypocrisy, H-1B visas and the hollowing out of the middle class, California's ongoing collapse, and how to raise resilient kids in a world you can't predict.Buy Supervillains here: https://www.amazon.com/Supervillains-Peachy-Keenan/dp/B0FZHF9GP1/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0
What happens to a family when mental ill health enters their lives without warning? The focus understandably turns to the person who is unwell. But surrounding them are often parents, partners, siblings and friends trying to make sense of an unfamiliar system while carrying fear, uncertainty and responsibility of their own. In this episode of It's a Mindset, I'm joined by perioperative nurse, carer peer worker, SANE peer ambassador and author Sarah Martin. Sarah and her family became what she describes as “accidental carers” when one of her children experienced a mental health crisis while travelling overseas. What followed changed the course of their lives and eventually inspired Sarah's first book, Dear Psychosis. Her second book, Dear Carer, turns its attention to the people standing beside someone living with complex mental ill health. Sarah shares how little support her family could find for themselves and why stigma, privacy and the desire to protect a loved one caused them to become increasingly silent. We explore the isolation this can create for carers and the difference it makes to feel genuinely seen, heard and understood by someone who is willing to listen. We also discuss the practical knowledge families may need when navigating mental health services and emergencies, from understanding the roles of different clinicians to recognising a loved one's triggers and preparing a toolkit before a crisis occurs. At the heart of our conversation is Sarah's message that carers must be cared for too. She speaks candidly about the years she spent placing her own needs aside, why accepting invitations and seeking psychological support became important parts of her own wellbeing, and how looking after yourself ultimately helps the person who depends on you. I first met Sarah through the Expert Author Community, and her first book, Dear Psychosis, left an enormous impression on me. With my own children entering adulthood, I found her family's experience riveting, moving and confronting. Sarah also showed me what an honest and incredibly compelling book could be, so it was a genuine honour to finally have this conversation with her. Key Episode Takeaways: Families can become carers without warning or preparation. When complex mental ill health enters a family, everyone can be affected, yet support and information are often directed only towards the person who is unwell. Stigma can leave entire families navigating mental ill health in silence. Carers may be reluctant to speak openly because they want to protect their loved one's privacy, but that silence can also deepen their own isolation. Mental ill health deserves the same curiosity and compassion as any other chronic illness. Sarah encourages us to ask respectful questions, learn more and challenge the way mental and physical illnesses are treated differently. Carer self-care is essential, not selfish. Accepting help, maintaining connection and having somewhere safe to talk can support both the carer and the person relying on them. Preparation can make an overwhelming situation more manageable. Understanding possible triggers, knowing what support is available and creating a practical toolkit before a crisis can help families make more informed decisions when pressure is high. Feeling heard and seen can create an extraordinary ripple effect. Sarah's work is grounded in helping people recognise that they are not alone and that even one person's story can make a meaningful difference to someone else. About the Guest: Sarah Martin is a perioperative nurse with more than 40 years of experience, a carer peer worker and a SANE peer ambassador. She is also a mum of three, one of whom lives with bipolar affective disorder. Sarah is the author of Dear Psychosis, which shares her family's experience of complex mental ill health, and Dear Carer, created to provide carers with the information, perspectives and practical guidance Sarah wished her own family had been able to access. Through her writing and advocacy, she is committed to reducing the stigma and silence surrounding mental ill health and helping carers feel less alone. The boys talk about the Lindsay Clancy trial.....horribly. We don't care about feelings, but honestly, we both teared up talking about it, and then the humor got insanely darker. Also: #ireland - rise up, we're with you! Fuck all the shit you're dealing with. We'll come drink with you once the streets are clean - our treat!
Whenever the rules of golf are a point of discussion, you're almost guaranteed to find something absurd. In this episode, Mark, Lou, and Greg highlight two rules events from the end of this season: one regarding the faintest contact with the bunker sand, and the other with the moving of a divot fragment. The latter rule is very obscure; it is likely news to you. Should the rules of golf be like that? How should golf handle the difference between the players who are under the high-res, slow motion microscope and those who aren't? And maybe, should we all just try to have fun?If you have a question you want covered on the pod, please submit here: https://www.hackitoutgolf.com/contact/Listeners can also leave us a voicemail! https://www.hackitoutgolf.com/voicemail/Where to find us:Mark Crossfield's weekly newsletter: https://www.crossfieldgolf.com/subscribeMark Crossfield on Twitter: https://twitter.com/4golfonlineMark Crossfield on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/4golfonlineLou Stagner's weekly newsletter: https://newsletter.loustagnergolf.com/subscribeLou Stagner on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LouStagnerLou Stagner's new practice app, Window Golf: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/window-golf/id6778014214Greg Chalmers on Twitter: https://twitter.com/GregChalmersPGAThe Hack It Out Golf Podcast on Twitter: https://twitter.com/HackItOutGolfSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

**Clay Edwards Show – Same Energy** Lindsey Clancy almost walked on insanity. The pink shirts came out. The panels came out. Then Oprah put a doctor on and the room full of sad-faced women started cheering. The pitch was not subtle. Have the same passion for women who don't look like Lindsay. Who don't have her access, her education, her melanin, her privilege. There are women of color in prison for the same thing and you've never heard their names. Give them the pink shirts too. Clay translated it in real time: Black women should get to kill their babies and not go to jail either. That is the whole argument. Not “fix postpartum care.” Not “the healthcare system failed.” Equity in getting away with it. If the white nurse almost skated, the next woman of color deserves the same off-ramp. Shaun's point cuts cleaner than the cheering: child sexual abuse is real and evil. It still doesn't give James Hutto a license to murder old women. Bad things happen to people. That is not a coupon for homicide. Clay's line is the same one he's used on Clancy from day one. Sane people don't do this. Crazy people who do it still belong in a prison, not a ward with better lighting. Charles Manson wasn't running a therapy group. Once the kids are dead, the excuse rotation — postpartum, the meds, the doctor — is just three ways to say it wasn't her fault. One guest said the quiet part on a nationally famous couch. The audience clapped. That is the standard they want.

"I would wake up every single morning, there'd be a moment when I'd forget who I was, and then I would just be furious. And it wasn't even at my ex — it was at the system allowing this to go on and on and on." If that sounds familiar, this conversation is for you. Lisa opens this episode admitting that rage is one of the single most common emotions she hears about from people living with legal abuse and parental alienation. So she brought in Jen Gallagher, a limited license psychologist in Michigan with over 20 years as a therapist, who now specializes in helping women work through rage using a neurobiological, brain-based approach. This isn't a conversation about anger management. It's a conversation about why your rage might be the sanest possible response to years of injustice — and what to actually do with it so it doesn't run your life, or your health, from the inside. Jen explains the real difference between everyday anger and deep, cumulative rage, why rage is a normal, protective emotion your brain is designed to feel (not a character flaw), and why the physical toll of suppressing it for years can show up as chronic illness, "sideways" explosions, or relentless self-criticism. If you've ever asked "when is this going to stop hurting," this episode gives you a real answer. What You'll Learn: ✅ The actual difference between anger and rage, and why rage runs so much deeper ✅ Why rage is one of the brain's built-in protective systems, not a personality flaw ✅ How to tell the difference between rage (a feeling) and violence (a behavior) ✅ Why men and women are conditioned to express rage so differently ✅ Why there's no "timeline" for how long you're allowed to feel furious ✅ Why chronic legal abuse produces a completely sane, expected rage response ✅ The physical cost of suppressing rage for years, including chronic illness ✅ How trauma can disconnect you from rage you don't even know you're carrying ✅ The first step to reclaiming your rage: simply naming it out loud ✅ A simple body-awareness practice to interrupt a rage spiral in real time ✅ What to look for in a therapist if rage is the issue you need help with About Jen Gallagher: Jen Gallagher is a limited license psychologist (a Michigan-licensed therapist with a master's degree) with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Her practice takes a neurobiological, brain-based approach to emotional healing, and she primarily works with women in midlife who are learning to build a healthier relationship with their rage — turning it into a source of power and energy instead of shame. She describes rage as one of the most misunderstood emotions, and she's made it her mission to change that.

What does it look like to stay connected to yourself as a mother, especially in the newborn phase? In this episode, I'm sharing the three non-negotiable categories I'm prioritising as a third-time mum to avoid losing myself in motherhood. I believe it's the most loving, well-intentioned mothers who are most at risk of sacrificing everything for their children, and why that's not the example we want to set for our sons or our daughters. Whether you have a village of support or you're doing it mostly solo, I break every strategy into three levels: Ideal, Good, and Bare Minimum; so there's genuinely something here for every season of motherhood. We cover: Why losing yourself in motherhood is a slippery slope that starts with tiny, well-intentioned decisions Category 1: Daily Reflection - journaling, gratitudes, affirmations, goal review, and how to do it in 3 minutes or 20 Category 2: Self-Care - building a spa-like routine at home, why hygiene is non-negotiable, and how I manage it with a newborn Category 3: Movement - from gym sessions to walking with the pram to vacuuming counting as cardio How keeping promises to yourself is the foundation of self-worth and confidence Why how you treat yourself sets the precedent for how your partner treats you
In this week's episode, Amanda Tooke is getting personal and sharing her non-negotiables, the daily practices that she genuinely believes keep her sane, connected, and on track no matter how busy or messy life gets. These are the things she does not skip. Not when life is chaotic. Not when work is busy. Not when she doesn't feel like it. And she is convinced these are the things that have transformed her life more than anything else.Amanda walks through six of her non-negotiables one by one, and honestly, none of them are complicated or dramatic. They're small, they're simple, and they fit around a really busy life. But together, they keep her energy clean, her mindset strong, and her manifestations flowing. There's a beautiful reminder in here too, that your life is shaped so much more by what you do consistently than by what you do occasionally. And if you have been feeling wobbly, disconnected, or a bit off-track lately, this episode gives you a really honest look at what showing up daily actually looks like.Amanda finishes with a card pull for the week ahead, and as always, the messages line up beautifully with everything she shares.Host Bio:Amanda Tooke renowned Spiritual Teacher and NLP Manifestation Coach is the host of the Angel Mystic Podcast. On this episode of The Ty Brady Way, Ty sits down with Beau Turner, a former real estate investor who sold everything to go all in on Bitcoin mining. Five years later, he's built Abundant Mines into an eight-figure business and is widely considered one of the leading Bitcoin mining co-location hosts in the world, serving hundreds of clients across multiple facilities in Oregon. Beau's path here was anything but smooth. He and his wife lost half a million dollars in their very first mining venture after getting burned by a bad partnership. Most people would have walked away. Beau did the opposite. He looked around, saw thousands of other people who had been scammed or were too scared to try, and decided that was exactly the problem worth solving. That loss didn't just fuel the business. It became the mission. Ty and Beau break down what Bitcoin mining actually is, in plain language, and why so many people get it wrong. Beau explains it simply: miners are the security force and the transaction system for the Bitcoin network, all at once. Think of it as the military and Visa combined, running on energy instead of bureaucracy. He also makes a clear distinction between Bitcoin and crypto, and why he believes conflating the two is one of the most common and costly mistakes people make when they start learning about this space. They get into the business model too. Clients purchase their own servers, those machines live in Abundant Mines' data centers, and for a flat $225 a month per unit, Beau's team handles everything: power, internet, maintenance, and consulting. All the Bitcoin the machine produces goes straight to the client. It's a straightforward setup, and Beau walks through what kind of returns are realistic depending on where Bitcoin's price sits at any given time. One of the most interesting parts of the conversation is Beau's take on energy. He used to study sustainability engineering and believed the goal was to use less. He's completely flipped on that. His view now is that generating more energy is what actually drives prosperity, and that Bitcoin miners are one of the best tools grids have for staying flexible and reliable. He explains how miners in Texas can literally turn off during a heat wave and give power back to the grid, which is something a traditional data center can never do. Beau also talks about the habit that's kept him grounded through all of it: a daily meditation practice he and his wife started together early in their relationship, built around Dr. Joe Dispenza's work. He credits it as the one thing that made everything else possible. His advice for anyone thinking about following a similar path is direct: pick one thing and go all the way in. Shiny object syndrome is real, and splitting your focus is one of the fastest ways to guarantee a mediocre outcome in everything you're chasing. If you've ever been curious about Bitcoin, wondered whether mining is actually worth it, or just want to hear from someone who bet everything on a contrarian idea and built something real out of it, this one is worth your time.
With the Fourth of July just around the corner, one issue is once again front and center: fireworks. While many of us enjoy celebrating Independence Day with family and friends, fireworks also bring significant concerns about public safety, wildfire risk, impacts on veterans, pets, seniors, and neighborhoods throughout our city. This year, the City of Rancho Cordova has adopted some of the toughest firework regulations in the region. Under the updated ordinance, fines are no longer issued per incident—they can now be issued for every individual illegal firework or unauthorized use of "Safe and Sane" fireworks. That means violations can quickly become very costly. Today, we're joined by Russell Ducharme, Director of Neighborhood Services for the City of Rancho Cordova. Russ oversees many of the city's efforts to protect neighborhoods and improve quality of life, and he'll help us understand exactly what these new regulations mean for residents. We'll discuss what's changed, what qualifies as legal and illegal fireworks, how the new social host liability ordinance works, how enforcement will take place over the holiday, how residents can report violations, and most importantly, how we can all celebrate safely while protecting our community.

A candlemaker guards one dying flame through the night while ravenous things in the dark demand the soul of a frozen stranger. An old woman stares through a second-floor window with no ledge to stand on, and the shadow man behind her inches closer with every passing night. And a small-town officer commits a man to a psychiatric hold for claiming a five-year-old suicide was really a murder — until the same vision starts playing out in front of his own eyes.FEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: I have three stories in this episode for you! Andrew Pendragon pens the tale, “Candles” to start things off. Weirdo Family member Randy Hogan shares a fictional tale called “Old Woman in the Window”. And then our final story is from S.F. Barkley called “I'm a Cop And I Institutionalized Someone I Knew Wasn't Crazy”.CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Show Open00:01:10.223 = Chandler's Candles00:19:35.808 = The Old Woman in the Window00:24:35.615 = I'm A Cop And I Institutionalized Someone I Knew Wasn't Crazy, Part 1 ***01:03:09.029 = I'm A Cop And I Institutionalized Someone I Knew Wasn't Crazy, Part 2 ***01:29:19.732 = Show Close*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakLISTEN ON PODCAST APPS: Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: September 10, 2020Weird Darkness gathers three works of horror fiction for Creepypasta Thursday, moving from a candlemaker's nightly bargain with the dark, to a watcher at an upstairs window, to a small-town murder reopened by a vision no evidence could explain. It opens with a candlemaker in the small town of Clovetown, the last practitioner of an inherited art he calls Chandler's candles, passed to him from his father and grandmother and kept alive mostly through monthly orders from the Catholic church down the road. His after-hours visitors come only once, telling him sad stories before they go, and on a freezing Tuesday a muddy, shivering man named Basim arrives — a wanderer whose family left Israel before settling in a Midwestern state he refuses to name. The candlemaker warms Basim with tea, tends a bruise left when local children pelted him with a rock, and sends him off with a vanilla-scented sculpted candle and a box of matches. That night the shop window shatters under another volley of stones, and Basim is found frozen to death on a bench outside. As the power fails and darkness floods the shop, ravenous shadow-creatures his family has sheltered against for centuries surround him and demand Basim's marked soul, and he survives the night only by shielding the dying flame of that single candle with his own body until dawn. From there the episode turns to a teenage boy who finds an old woman staring through his second-floor bedroom window, her face blank and dead, though no ledge or balcony exists for anyone to stand on. She returns each night after 10:30 for eight months, and the pattern eventually breaks — she appears in the living room window in daylight, then inside the house, and finally seated beside him with the same lifeless expression. A second figure joins her, a shadow man with masculine features who edges closer with each appearance, and his presence twists the old woman's blank stare into one of horror and terror. By the end, both stand within inches of the boy, and he does not know whether he will live to see another night. The episode closes with Sean Barkley, a Crisis Intervention Team officer working the night shift in rural Pennsylvania, dispatched on a freezing-rain night to a farmhouse where a man named Kevin claims to have witnessed a murder. Kevin's sister, Melissa Watson, died in that house five years earlier in a death ruled a suicide, but he now sees a recurring vision in the upstairs bedroom — Melissa pleading for her life as her husband Andrew fires a gun — and Barkley glimpses the same muzzle flash in the window. Rather than let Kevin hunt Andrew down, Barkley commits him on an involuntary hold and quietly reopens the case with fellow officer Tim, uncovering an autopsy that recorded old bruises and a broken rib never investigated, a handgun bullet buried in the mattress, and a shotgun shell hidden in an air duct. The trail leads to Virginia Beach, where a search warrant turns up Melissa's missing .380 and a destroyed external hard drive holding child exploitation material, some of it filmed in the basement of the farmhouse. Andrew is arrested and then released on bail before he is found dead in a motel room, an apparent suicide with a note only Barkley can see, and a final vision of Melissa's spirit reveals that she had drawn the investigation toward exposing her husband so that she could claim her own revenge.

This episode includes discussion of sensitive topics, including addiction, that some listeners may find distressing. Please take care while listening, and feel free to pause or step away if you need to.DJ Fat Tony has spent a lifetime turning chaos into charisma. Long before he became one of the most recognisable figures in British nightlife, he was a kid from Battersea learning, far too young, how to protect himself, how to perform, and how to survive. His childhood wasn't without love or colour - he speaks warmly about his glamorous, indulgent mother, his complex but protective father, and the freedom and style that shaped him - but it was also marked by abuse, secrecy and the sense that he had to grow up far too quickly. In this episode of Full Disclosure, James O'Brien sits down with DJ Fat Tony to trace the path from those early years to the centre of London's club culture. Tony reflects on sneaking into nightlife as a teenager, finding his people on the King's Road, and building a reputation not through technical brilliance but through instinct, energy and an unerring ear for what moved people. He speaks candidly about trauma, addiction, identity and the masks he wore to stay in control, as well as the extraordinary highs of a life lived at full volume - from the golden age of clubbing to the friendships, fame and excess that came with it. Tony opens up about recovery, honesty and the hard work of building a life that no longer depends on performance or escape. It's a funny, moving and often startling conversation about survival, reinvention and what it means to finally feel at home in yourself.Find out more about Recover Me by DJ Fat Tony here Additional support:If you've been affected by anything you've heard in this episode, please take a moment to read the resources listed: We Are With You, Change Grow Live, Turning PointFull Disclosure is a Global ProductionListen or watch every Friday on Global Player, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal -> https://nordvpn.com/fulldisclosure Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee

A hobby can be the best kind of escape until your workspace fights you, your calendar fills up, and the internet decides a vague press blurb means the sky is falling. We start with what's been happening at our own benches, including Dave's push to overhaul a hobby room that has somehow become “anti-modeling,” plus a listener-recommended project tracking app that could genuinely help builders log progress, notes, and next steps. Then we dig into hobby news with real consequences, including the Dragon Models drama, the sudden appearance of “Drami,” and the clearer picture that emerges once Zimi enters the story. We talk about why it pays to wait for facts, how quickly online speculation spirals, and why Dragon still matters to the modern plastic model kit landscape even after years of fewer truly new releases. Along the way we share a great AMPS find and why better 3D printed tracks and scanning-driven accuracy are changing what's possible in aftermarket parts. The second half zooms out to the stuff that keeps this hobby sustainable: why we build models in the first place, how to handle work-life balance without breeding resentment at home, and why contests are evolving into broader “shows” with exhibitions, seminars, and more welcoming formats. We wrap with Shizuoka kit announcements, a quick benchtop reality check, and a warning about AI slop creeping into 3D printed figures and details. If you've ever wondered what's worth caring about in modeling and what you can safely ignore, this one's for you. Anthony Baptiste came from a good family and built a successful party promoting business — but chasing money and a bigger lifestyle pulled him into the streets. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, Anthony breaks down how it all unraveled, why he turned down a plea deal and took his chances at trial, and what happened when Suffolk County handed him a sentence he believes was excessive — over 50 years in prison. He opens up about fighting his case from behind bars, the years of legal battles that followed, and how he ultimately got his sentence reduced from 50 years to 10 — and walked out free. _____________________________________________ #Prison #TrueCrime #Justice _____________________________________________ Thank you to QUINCE for sponsoring this episode: Refresh your wardrobe with Quince.
