Londonkontoret, The Steelyard, växte fram under 1200-talet. If like many of you, you are listening to this podcast on your morning or evening commute and you happen to live in London, you may be one of the 20 million souls going through Cannon Street Station every year. Few of them will be aware that under their feet lay the vestiges of the great Hanseatic Kontor in London that goes back to 1176. If people know about the Steelyard, it is mainly through the portraits of merchants painted by Holbein between 1532 and 1536 at a time when the Kontor had only about 60 years left. But there is a lot to tell about this now vanished building, its inhabitants and trade. It is a story of infighting between the various cities that were still to officially form the Hanseatic league, of trading privileges granted to fund first a crusade and then the hundred year's war, and it is also a great opportunity to introduce the oldest, largest and richest member of the Hanseatic League, the city of Cologne. Aldanya has built a strong reputation in the London underground scene for her energetic and impactful techno sets. She deploys her full potential on harder Industrial Techno sets, blending seamlessly grooves, hammering kicks, punchy baselines, uplifting rifs and mesmerising vocals. If you are fortunate enough to have danced to her meteoric sets, her performances speak for themselves. She has dominated the dancefloors of iconic London clubs such as Fabric, The Steelyard, Village Underground London, Electrowerks, Werkhaus - to name a few. She sets herself apart by selectively curating music and sounds that resonate with her and fit the moment. Staying true to herself, she doesn't follow trends but rather constantly renews and refines herself as an artist. After releasing her first track in 2021 on Fluctuat records' VA RAVE 4 WOMEN, she is preparing new releases. *Tracklist:* Zone X - Mathys Lenne Scaling - Rotwang Luddite - Cleric Sup - Chris Liebing Raven - Aicrag It Always Hurts in the End - Insolate Crawler - Pan-Pot & Thomas Hoffknecht Oil Rigger (Original Mix) - Regent Hear Me Scylla - Hecate Legacy Eclipse (Flug Remix) - Black Lotus (GER) Resonance - Klint Bad Bitches Favorite Stuff - Ben Khlifa So High - Noneoftheabove Crave (Mython Remix) - Y-NØT Breathing Exercise - Teoss Blades And Shades - Öspiel

Zack and Jake dig their saber teeth into all the animal studies in the outlaw romp Steelyard Blues (1973). We find Jane as Iris the sex worker reunited with her old boo Jesse Veldini (Donald Sutherland) who gets off on crashing cars and can't quite stay out of trouble. Can't relate. We get to yell at various state institutions: police, district attorneys, brothers, prisons, and poorly guarded naval bases. Justice for Cadillac.
From Bob and Jane to Don and Jane! In an all-new Fondavision, Emily and Danita escape with the rag-tag team of ex-cons of Steelyard Blues (1973), the second on-screen collab between Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland. Is this scatterbrained comedy worth watching outside of the truly electric chemistry between the aforementioned former power couple? How did future Everybody Loves Raymond star Peter Boyle get a better wig budget than Jane? And will Danita ever stop listening to the zany soundtrack that stood in for any semblance of plot development?
© artwork by Jim aka Bock&Fuchs ➲ contact ✉ info@bockundfuchs.com Bambi Rambo presents Per Anhalter Garbicz 2020 [ Live - Special ] BIO: The traditional progression from club warm-up to international talent is a rite of passage for most DJs. But in Chloe's instance - the opposite is true. She first came to prominence on the global burner festival circuit under her Bambi Rambio alias, making her debut at South Africa's 'AfrikaBurn' in 2017 before going on to perform at Nevada's 'Burning Man' a year later. She became a staple artist of London's Burning Man community soon after. Decompression parties and grassroots fundraisers were where she earned her stripes, before honing her craft across the capital's club circuit in late 2019 at venues such as Mick's Garage, The Steelyard and many more besides. These experiences helped mould Bambi's sound into what it is today. It feels at home in all environments: whether that be an urban warehouse or the ethereal playa of Burning Man. Regardless of the setting, her ethos behind the decks remains the same: to take those listening on a musical journey and deliver a deeply pleasurable experience in the process. • What are your musical influences? I Take influence from a variety of things, I love to dig in all directions and collect old songs as well as new ones and to merge genres that would not necessarily belong together and always keep it on the uplifting and energizing side of things. I am mainly into house and deep house these days but had times where I was more into the techno and progressive side of the spectrum. I like to vary and reinvent my sound pallet over time :) What is your musical background? My upbringing was steeped in musical heritage. I trained as a classical flutist from an early age, opting to drop the instrument for electronic music in my twenties. Such a transition was kind of ingrained in my family heritage - my parents had been creating mixtapes since my childhood, making tracklists from their vinyl collection and then burning them onto CD for home-listening. It has always raised my curiosity and interest in how you really create a whole soundscape from a bunch of tracks :) • What makes good "afterhour"? A good after hours is all about the enveloppoing and evolving atmosphere. You had already a wild and uplifting party but you are not yet ready to call it a night so you go to an after hour party. And you want to prolong the goodness of the night and for this you need a fun and happy crew and a warm and almost hugging music at first. Then when the sun rises you can go to the meditative type of music and sort of dreamy floaty vibes - like time gets suspended and all. Then slowly as the sun rays get brighter and warmer, you can increase the energy and add more groove and vocals and bring in the audience to dance more and more and basically wake up again for another day of dancing :) • Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set? Starting off on a reinterpretation of a famous French poem "les fleur du mal" this mix then drives on to all dimensions of the holy house music galaxy...

Platforms are emerging as one of this year's top topics for insurance and technology - and we are going to hear a lot more about them in the next year. Start-ups have been finding it hard to get the attention of insurers, and experience is showing that most insurers are not really set up to nurture early stage companies. Insurance technology platforms provide a way for insurers to more easily access data, analytics and the related services they need to improve efficiency and engagement - and for technology companies to get to insurers. Our event on 22nd October at The Steelyard featured companies talking about their platforms and their ecosystems. In this, the highlights from the first half of the event, Matthew is on stage with our sponsors Novidea, their platform Salesforce and their ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) Conga and Financial Force. You can read our summary of the whole event on the dedicated page on our website - and see photos and details of all the speakers. Look out for the remainder of the evening that included Guidewire, ICEinsurtech, AXA, DMS and RiskBook. We're delighted to be bringing you this podcast with support from the Insurance Insider. One of our most lively and most popular events so far - in this, the second half of our "Reverse Pitch" event from The Steelyard that we held on 24th September, Matthew Grant is on stage talking to Hayley Maynard, Chief of Staff to the CUO of Allianz ACGS and Karl Stanley VP Technology Ventures, Renaissance Re. Two great guests from two of the world's biggest insurers. You can find out highlights from every speaker on the night - and what help they are looking for - on the event section of www.instech.london Enjoyed this? If you haven't found the first half yet - it's Episode 49. Please do drop us a line if you like what we are up to - or what to know how you can get involved with InsTech London (made in the UK but connecting globally) to Hello@Instech.london. And we are still offering our Insurance Insider free copy - more details here - http://campaigns.insuranceinsider.com/instechlondon/
The summer is over and we're back in the Steelyard for our autumn season of evening events. There are many opportunities to find out what technology companies offering product and services to insurance have to offer, but how often do we know what the insurers really want? In this episode, from the first half of our Reverse Pitch event on 24 September, Robin Merttens is on stage with our guests, finding out what they are up to and where they need help. Part Two coming soon. Who needs Vegas? Jamie Garratt, Head of Underwriting Strategy - Talbot (2:00) Madeleine Durand, Senior Strategy Manager - Bupa (8.25) Jason Smith, Deputy Lead, Data Exchange - Experian (12.35) And our very own Paolo Cuomo in his new role as head of Strategy at Brit (18:00) No need to take notes - get the summary of what we heard at the event, and all 20 requests for help from our speakers in the article on the event specific section on our website www.instech.london. You will also find photos from the event and the full agenda. Thanks to PKF Littlejohn for sponsorship of this event, and to Insurance Insider for their support for these podcasts. This autumn our podcasts are being supported by Insurance Insider and they are offering a free issue to all of our listeners. Download it from http://campaigns.insuranceinsider.com/instechlondon/

Another fast moving series of chats with more leaders from insurance, technology and data. In this episode, the first half of our 8th July evening at The SteelYard, Robin investigates how Hitachi (2:00), the 7th largest technology group in the world, is making it easier for established insurers to work with the emerging providers of data for trains, buildings and a whole lot more. Serif Otterburn, Business Development Manager, and Insurance Subject Matter Expert “Everything Hitachi builds, from trains to medical equipment, requires insurance. A lot of insurers use historical data to calculate risk, but Hitachi is using its expertise in IoT to assist insurers to develop newer better risk models". Joining Robin and Serif are Chris Gill from QBE (7:50) and Stephen Chadwick from Shepherd (16:00). Munich Re Digital Partners (22:00) are well known for supporting a whole range of new MGAs and technology companies with capacity and sometimes investment. We get a peek behind the kimono at how they are getting on. In the words of Mark Dennis, European CEO "We’ve met with about a thousand InsurTech start-ups in the last three years. To date, we have about twenty live and wish ultimately to work with about fifty. Our job is to provide the scalability to get them to market as quickly as possible as InsurTech services.” Kasko (34:20) was on stage at InsTech London 4 years ago at one of our earliest events, CEO Nick Sühr returns to talk about the work they are doing today with over 15 insurers providing plug-and-play ready solutions, enabling insurers to turn insurance products from idea or paper to digital in a few weeks. The second half of this event follows in episode 39 with more from Hitachi and their partners. Weekly Podcast Alan Fitzpatrick live recording at Eric Prydz Presents Holo @ Steelyard, London - 25th May 2019. No tracklist available.
This week’s podcast features edited highlights of Matthew chatting on stage with leading figures from AIG, Cytora, WhenFresh and Polar Capital at our live event in The Steelyard. Everyone’s talking about AI, but what’s really going on? Questions we asked included how far has AI really got in insurance, what are the regulatory issues, how to convince an insurer that the results are validated, how to tell the quality of a company’s AI credentials, where do insurers stand relative to the rest of the world, and a lot more. Our guests talk about the ways they are using AI and Algorithms in their own businesses and how they distinguish reality from hype. Tips for assessing the quality of a company that is claiming to use AI, and thoughts on how to encourage more data scientists to join the industry. What is the Moneyball effect and is your algorithm smart enough and humble enough to admit when it doesn't know? The usual buzzing crowd and experts on stage made for another great evening. Reza Khorshidi, Chief Scientist, Global AIG (1:20) Hamzah Chaudhary, Director of Deployment, Cytora (10:45) Mark Cunningham, CEO and Founder, WhenFresh (21:10) Nick Martin, Fund Manager, Polar Capital (29:00) Both Reza and Nick recommend the book: Prediction Machines: The Simple Economics of Artificial Intelligence by Ajay Agrawal

Museum of London gir en god oversikt over metropolens historie. Med egen avdeling for tiden da romerne hadde makten for snart to tusen år siden.
A chance to hear Charlie Parmer and Harry Franks, the founders of two of London's recent startups, talking about how their businesses are using innovative approaches to technology to provide cost effective, targeted insurance. Ryan Raddon known as Kaskade to his millions of fans is a world renown Electronic Dance Music DJ and chart topping artist. In this episode of "Little Known Facts" he sits down with Ilana and discusses his life as a trailblazer in the house music world and describes the choices he has to make in order to balance his life as a family man and a devout Mormon and his life on the road ten months out of the year. From growing up in his close knit family in Chicago, the birthplace of House Music, to his international fame as one of the most successful DJ's in music history - this is a one of a kind conversation where Ryan reveals things about himself he has not discussed in previous interviews. Multi GRAMMY Award-nominated singer, songwriter, producer and remixer Kaskade is a titan in the dance music world, and a groundbreaking innovator in the music industry as a whole. Bending the curve by which his contemporaries measure themselves, Kaskade has an unprecedented string of “firsts”. He was the first DJ to land a Las Vegas residency, the first ever solo electronic dance artist to sell-out both Navy Pier in Chicago, and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and the first dance artist to perform and sell out at the Los Angeles Convention Center in its 45-year history with a career-defining solo headline date in front of 30,000 fans. A three-time Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival veteran, Kaskade made history in 2015 where he was the only electronic musician to headline the festival and drew the two largest crowds in its storied sixteen-year existence. Crowned by The New York Times as “the new face of electronic dance music,” Kaskade has been bridging the gap between old school music purists and a new generation of music lovers. Relentlessly touring the world and playing to tens of millions people around the globe, he has been in the trenches for over a decade, laying the groundwork for a titanic musical and cultural shift. With nine studio albums and five GRAMMY nominations to his name, Kaskade’s global reach is ever-expanding. He has headlined every major North American festival, and was recently inducted into Pete tong’s Hall of fame, and sold out London’s The Steelyard on his most recent UK date. His single “Fakin It” was first premiered in the UK when Kaskade went back to back with Danny Howard on his primetime “Dance Anthems” slot on BBC Radio 1. While Kaskade’s handwriting is all over the history of electronic music, his influence today is at an all-time high. His latest full length album, "Automatic" [Warner Bros. Records/Arkade] claimed the #2 spot on the Billboard Dance /Electronic Albums Chart. Automatic commanded a Top 15 placement on the U.S. Digital Chart, as well as amassing over 50 million streams on Spotify in less than a year’s time. His live set from Ultra Music Festival 2016 has garnered over 1.9 million views in a matter of months. (Watch here) Kaskade continues his reign in Las Vegas with an unprecedented mult-venue long term residency for Hakkasan Group, and his social media reach continues to connect him with his audience in an authentic and powerful way. Rolling Stone asserts, “Kaskade represents an intensely positive side of dance music culture”, another cornerstone in the foundation that sets him apart."
