You need to choose hard things to crush your goals, become a better person, and live a more fulfilling life. Cody McBroom joins us to discuss the importance of choosing hard things. Check out the Tailored Coaching Method. Choose Hard Things: The Transforming Power of Fitness Cody had been an overweight youth but decided to begin to take his health and fitness seriously. When he wedded his nascent health and fitness journey with a passion for learning as he changed his major in college, he never looked back and pursued a career as a strength and nutrition coach. Cody found that by simply doing hard things regularly and improving his health and fitness, he improved all other aspects of his life. Truly, embracing voluntary hardship can alter the course of your life for the better. The decision to do the hard things matters. Choosing Hard Things in Business & Life Cody, like Matt, saw the downsides of the in-person coaching model. He started an online coaching business in 2017, the year after Matt began Barbell Logic Online Coaching. He has focused on tailored nutrition and fitness coaching, prioritizing normal every day people looking to avoid the tragically-too-normal slide to obesity and disease. He has had to learn about business (again, embracing hard things) to help his business grow, which ultimately helps more people transform their lives. Choose hard things every day. We dive deep in this episode of the podcast and you're going to learn exactly what this means in the context of coaching people to lose fat (and keep it off). We're going to help you identify WHY you're struggling to get started and/or be consistent, why a lack of SELF-WORTH can be the pre-determining factor to someone's success with a fat loss transformation, and how to radically shift the way you think in order to finally go from where you are now, to where you want to be in life – FOR GOOD. Today, I catch up with Cody McBroom, the owner of Tailored Coaching Method, a lifestyle coaching company that's focused on fitting the training and nutrition to the client and not the other way around. In our conversation, we talk about the similarities between running a successful business and building a lean, healthy body. Of course, they both require time, energy, focus, and prioritization, but they also require ongoing data and adjustments based on reflection and improved awareness. Sometimes we have to go slow to go fast and develop the skills and the tools around things like planning, preparation, time management, training, intensity, volume, and understanding. The vast array of nuances around the dieting process and seasons of change become the very levers that we can and do use to adjust and drive long-term success. We also talk about establishing clarity through educating our clients, creating structure through effective time management, chronic undereating, under-tracking, and metabolic slowdowns and adaptations. We talk about setting realistic expectations versus actual commitments, assessing the need for diet breaks and refeeds, and when it's relevant to implement these things, as well as the role of stress and your personal life in your ability to adhere to the diet at hand. And finally, we finish with a quick discussion on peptides, weight loss drugs, and weight loss sustainability. As always, if you love what you hear on this show, then do me a favor and subscribe, leave a positive rating and review, and share this episode with a friend or loved one whom you think could benefit. The entire Tailored Coaching Method staff got together this week, as they do twice per year, and worked on what we call a “Purpose Charter”. In the most truest sense, it's a declaration of excellence. Because it's a document that outlines our Vision, Mission, Values, and Principles — however it goes beyond just declaring what these aspects might be… it was signed upon as an agreement to live up to these things, every single day of our lives. Why do this? And why take this “coaching thing” so dang serious…? Because the only way to change the world is by first changing ourselves, next changing those we work with — to a level that truly changes their lives, and finally to impact those who simply observe our actions, so much that they too begin to change prior lives for the better. Being a true change maker isn't a simple task… But we're taking it on and that's how we will change the coaching industry, for good. —
In this episode of The Tailored Life Podcast, we have one of the Tailored Coaching Method coaches on to dive deep into her specialty, Psychology! But we don't just general talk on the topic, we dive deep into what this means in the context of coaching people and how the vast majority of people who get stuck or fall short in their pursuit to sustaining a lean and healthy body, do so because they struggle in this exact aspect of transformation. So listen in and learn all about how we implement this psychology component into our fat loss coaching! You can follow Arielle on Instagram Here And make sure to check out the Tailored Transformations Podcast on iTunes or Spotify, next! —

What's the best way to end a cut once you've reached your body fat goal? Should you slowly ramp up calories and reap the purported benefits of a reverse diet, or is that a waste of time or worse, potentially negative? Is it better to increase your calorie intake right to maintenance, or will that result in gaining back the fat you lost due to metabolic adaptation? There's been a bit of controversy in the fitness space in recent years over reverse dieting. In fact, it's something I've changed my mind about over the years as the research panned out. In this interview, I chat with Cody McBroom about the science of reverse dieting and when it makes sense for everyday fitness folks. Because while there's no denying the usefulness of science and fitness research, real life isn't a laboratory. Unscientific methods can still prove useful, and sometimes for surprising reasons. So what does the science say about reverse dieting, and how does that compare with the practical utility of slowly increasing calories after a cut? Cody is a repeat-guest on my show, but in case you're not familiar with him, he's the CEO and founder of the Tailored Coaching Method, a lifestyle training and nutrition coaching company (that also coaches how to coach), and host of the Tailored Life podcast. In other words, Cody not only has a background in evidence-based fitness, but also years of in-the-trenches experience working with clients and figuring out what works and what doesn't in the real world. In this interview, Cody and I talk about . . . What reverse dieting is, the purported benefits, and what science says about it How a slow increase in calories can affect dietary compliance and self control when ending a cut How people respond differently to eating more food Who can benefit from a reverse diet, why, and whether you should do one Reverse diets versus recovery diets The negative effects of calorie deficits and how to know if it's time to reverse diet And more . . . So, if you want to learn what science says about reverse dieting, how reverse dieting pans out in the real world, whether you should reverse diet, and a lot more, don't skip this episode! --- Timestamps 0:00 - Try Triton today! Ever wondered why you're in what should be a Calorie deficit but fat loss isn't working? Confused with one person on the internet swearing up and down that "Calories in, Calories out" is all that matters, and the next guru saying, "Calories don't matter at all, it's just your hormones"? Yeah, no wonder we're all confused. Until now. Today, I'm here with Sam Miller to clear up the confusion on the realities of Calories in/Calories out, factors that effect Calories out that you may not be seeing, how to assess your SHREDS biofeedback for better progress, and how to use nutritional periodization to help you reach your fitness and fat loss goals for good. Sam has spent over the last decade in the health, fitness, and nutrition coaching space, and now helps other coaches improve their client results, retention, and revenue through his programs. Sam obtained his Masters degree from North Carolina State University, as well as his Bachelors of Science from Elon University in North Carolina. In this podcast, you're going to learn how to be bad. I don't mean Mad Max lone-wanderer badass bad. I mean how to be a bad client bad--that is, how to be uncoachable bad. You see, hiring a coach isn't just a one-and-done transaction that gets you to your goal. If you want results, you still have to do the work. You have to be willing to learn, put in the time, and reach your goals with the help of a guiding hand. A coach is there to make a plan and guide you, but it's a team effort. And there are many ways to mess up that client-coach relationship. Someone who knows all about good clients and bad alike is Cody McBroom, and this subject of how to be uncoachable is the topic of this podcast. Cody is a repeat-guest on my show, but in case you're not familiar with him, he's the CEO and founder of the Tailored Coaching Method, a lifestyle training and nutrition coaching company (that also coaches coaches how to coach), and host of the Tailored Life podcast. In this episode, we chat about . . . The various ways people sabotage their results as a client, including having the wrong expectations and thinking they already know everything Why it's important to not make unfair comparisons (why you have to compare the whole picture) Overthinking & paralysis by analysis (and the difference between wanting to know “why” and challenging a coach) Pricing and having "skin in the game" The necessity of being willing to take advice And more . . . So if you want to learn the wrong way to get coached, and how you can actually get better results as a client, this podcast is worth a listen! Timestamps: 7:35 - How to be utterly un-coachable 13:38 - If somebody signed up for coaching are they already in the mindset to be coached? 39:52 - Too much thinking and how it can hinder progress. 44:37 - What are your thoughts on ‘skin in the game' and prices? Today is episode 21 and we had the pleasure of spending about an hour talking to Cody McBroom, owner of Tailored Coaching Method, host of The BoomBoom Performance Podcast. Cody is an entrepreneur who has built an extremely successful Nutrition Coaching business, he is a nutrition specialist, a coach, a husband, a father and in his own words, he is PASSIONATE about personal development.A few points to look forward to include Cody's personal story of being the “chubby friend” growing up and when he flipped the switch and decided he wanted to change his body and his life, how he feels about hardship and exposure to suffering, and how the coaching staff at Tailored Nutrition balance individualizing every client experience while stilling making nutrition simple and easy to understand.REMEMBER - This is the final episode of November, which means you have less than a week to leave a review on Apple Podcasts and become eligible for the Review of the Month Giveaway. We are initially only opening 15 spots for the program, so head over to StrongerInMotion.com and join the waiting list to receive updates and get first access to this brand new program!Action Plan - The single most profound moment in today's episode, at least in my opinion, was when Cody made the statement - CONTROL IS FREEDOM. That is the focus of this week's action plan. I want each one of you to identify an area of your life where you need to institute more control. For me, that means being more consistent with my schedule and time management, not thinking “I don't have time to write down my plan for the day” when really, those 2-3 minutes will actually create far more time on the back end simply by keeping me organized and on task. Find that thing in your own life. It could be your calendar, it could be your nutrition, it could be your finances. Whatever it is, identify it and start take immediate action to exert more control and thereby create more freedom in your life. That's it for today. Until next time, we wish you STRENGTH and GOOD HEALTH!

This is the first "serious" cut that I am doing, as I tried to cut previously but had issues with consistency. I've done some mindset work to help me adhere and I'm in a much better spot mentally! My question is centered around how I periodize training. I first started lifting weights 2.5 years ago doing bootcamp style workouts 2-3 times per week with 2 days of cardio. I did that for 1.5 years. I did OTF for 6 months after that before I started focusing on strength training. I got bored with my repetitive lifts and now follow a program that is 5 days split: legs, upper body, HIIT cardio, back & chest, full body. (Sometimes I do a sixth day and train legs twice.) Movements are reps are varied week to week, but volume is in the 8 - 15 rep range. I am interested in doing a hypertrophy program after my cut and want to follow a Tailored Coaching Method program. What program would you recommend? For best results, should I wait until I finish my cut to start a new training program? My main man Cody "Boom Boom" McBroom is back for another epic conversation together and he's done something BIG. He's revamped his entire company—formerly Boom Boom Performance—and it is now known as The Tailored Coaching Method. The TCM's mission is to provide world-class coaching, over-the-top education, and non-stop accountability to guarantee their clients achieve the results they came for AND understand how to sustain them after they're gone. I'm super stoked for Cody and if you think this episode is just one big commercial for his new company, you'll be happily surprised when he breaks down his 90-day goals into 30-day goals and then into daily goals. It's crazy impressive, to be honest, and it's something you could apply to your life (and fitness goals) directly after listening. Cody is all about bringing value and he doesn't miss the mark with this one, so I hope you enjoy.
