“I have a lot of skills from my sports experience that can help people,” explains Kristin Jones, Elite Speed, Sports Performance Specialist. A life-long athlete from Colorado, Kristin started a grassroots effort to help others stay active during the pandemic with her business, The Fit & Fuel Youth Training Program. With a passion for fitness professionally and personally, Kristin's mission is to help others get stronger, faster, and more consistent in their daily lives. During the pandemic, Kristin saw a surge of people feeling unmotivated to exercise and spending too much time drinking wine and watching Netflix. Realizing her athletic skills and experience could be of service, Kristen worked to get people training not only for their physical, but mental health too. Ultimately, Kristin stresses the importance of building a sports foundation because it's impossible to get desired results without that. Tune into this week's episode of The Code for an exciting conversation on seizing opportunities. Learn more about Kristin's athletic and career journey, why you should have kids take ownership of their training, and the components of a quality warm-up program. Mental Health has become such a big topic these days. In the history of my show, we've discussed this with various experts in the field, and today we get to chat with a Mental Health and Sports Performance Specialist, who currently works closely with the Oakland Roots of the USL. Listen today about the techniques and ideas she has in her experience working with athletes. Why do so many athletes battle with their mental health? Why don't we focus more on this within our sports organizations/programs? We have strength and conditioning coaches, why not mental health consultants or performance specialists in that field? We break it all down on this today on the show! It's a fantastic interview for young athletes as well as the adults that surround them, whether they be parents, coaches, leaders, etc. Make sure to listen in and please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts to share what you thought about the episode! It would help us out immensely!! Check out her website: https://athmindset.io/ Follow Lisa on Instagram: @lisabontasumii Make sure to also follow her on LinkedIn: Lisa Bonta Sumii

P.S. Werbung in eigener Sache. In this episode, you’ll learn how Brainspotting allows for incredible breakthroughs to peace and peak performance for both athletes (specifically gymnasts) and first responders. For more information about Brainspotting, please see www.brainspotting.com. Brainspotting is the work of Dr. David Grand. What do these populations ( gymnastics and First Responders) have in common? They both train in the context of great risk. You'll learn some amazing tips and hear stories of healing from Brainspotting practitioner Jessica Crowley. The mantras from the episode are as follows: Mantra #1: Obstacles don't always result from a first-hand experience; secondary trauma is an important consideration for both peak performance and healing. Mantra #2: We are not always aware of the underlying causes of our obstacles/ “stuck” feelings, which leads to…. Mantra #3: The Brainspotting process is not always linear; Brainspotting follows the “uncertainty principle” first proposed by Quantum physicist Heisenberg. Mantra #4: Whether it is an athlete or a first responder, the “healee” has a very important and active role in the healing process (healing is not the “doing” of the practitioner) Mantra #5: In Brainspotting, verbalizing the content is not necessary; the “talking cure” has its place in mental wellness, but you don't necessarily have to talk to process and heal More about Jessica Crowley Jessica Crowley is a 24-year police sergeant for the Bartlett Police Department and is a Crisis Intervention Specialist, hostage negotiator and a former member of the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team (NICISM).
