The Phillies didn't get a superstar player before Tuesday's trade deadline, but did any team? No, not really. But the Phillies believe they addressed their areas of weakness. Less than an hour before the deadline, the Phils acquired White Sox left-hander Tanner Banks for infield prospect William Bergolla. Banks will replace left-hander Gregory Soto, who was traded to the Orioles for Double-A right-hander Seth Johnson and High-A righty Moisés Chace. The trades capped a bullpen reconstruction that featured two significant additions and two significant subtractions over the past five days. Saturday, the Phillies got closer Carlos Estévez from the Angels for pitching prospects George Klassen and Samuel Aldegheri. Friday, they got Orioles outfielder Austin Hays on Friday for right-hander Seranthony Domínguez and outfielder Cristian Pache. In: Estévez and Banks Out: Soto and Domínguez Ruben, Jim and Todd break down the trades, then dig into some of the things that haven't been going well for the Phillies lately ... which is almost everything. You can watch the show on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ThePhilliesShowKeep up with the show here:- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thephilliesshow/- TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thephilliesshow- X: https://twitter.com/thephilliesshow- Threads: https://www.threads.net/@thephilliesshow- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559185425483The Phillies Show is part of the Foul Territory Network. Also, a quick reaction to the report of A.J. Pierzynski as a Sox managerial candidate for next year.
The slow trickle of roster moves out of Sox camp and the guys still in camp vying for roster spots makes the guys wonder if there are actual surprises for the White Sox Braintrust or if things are going as they pre-ordained. The Chicago White Sox were crushed in the finale of their series versus the Washington Nationals Wednesday afternoon. Michael Kopech pitched an inning as an opener and allowed one unearned run. It didn't get any better after that. Tanner Banks, Jesse Scholtens and Deivi Garcia were the next three in order and each allowed multiple runs. All told, the Sox allowed 13 runs in the rubber match, another series loss. Join Herb Lawrence, Vinnie Duber and Sean Anderson as they recap the blowout on the CHGO White Sox LIVE Postgame Podcast. Locked On White Sox - Daily Podcast On The Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox drop their sixth in a row as they lose to the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-0. The White Sox only managed four hits in the game. Luis Robert went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. Toronto starter, Jose Berrios, had great stuff and despite struggles against the White Sox in the recent past, he did not allow much to Sox hitters. Sox starter, Mike Clevinger, had his second rough outing in a row. He managed to go five innings but gave up six earned runs in the process. Blue Jays had a good plan against him. Tanner Banks came out of the bullpen and provided three innings. With the loss, the Sox drop to ten games under .500 and have one of the worst records in all of baseball. Series finale is Wednesday afternoon. Michael Kopech is on the mound for the White Sox.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetterHelpThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp.
Michael Kopech is on the mound for the White Sox. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! BetterHelp This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Locked On White Sox - Daily Podcast On The Chicago White Sox
Andrew Vaughn hit his first HR but Mike Clevinger only lasted three innings and the White Sox lost to the Phillies, 5-2. The Chicago White Sox (7-12) have failed to win two games in a row and have failed to win a series so far this year. Their record after nineteen games is identical to what it was last season and this time and that is a scary thought. Mike Clevinger looked like a different pitchers from his previous starts. His pitches caught too much of the plate and he did not have his command. Clevinger threw 75 pitches and was pulled after three innings. Sox pen gave up two runs, but that was all on Tanner Banks. Gregory Santos and Keynan Middleton were sharp in their combined three innings of work. Sox offense scored all their runs in the first inning, once again. This time, it was a two-run home run by Andrew Vaughn that got the Sox on the board. It was Vaughn's first home run of the year. White Sox have an off day on Thursday, then will try to bounce back against baseball's hottest team, the Tampa Bay Rays.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!eBay MotorsFor parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check. NBA – Sacramento’s Mike Brown unanimous Coach of the Year winner Sacramento’s Mike Brown is the unanimous winner of the NBA’s Coach of the Year award. It was an easy call after his first season in Sacramento saw the Kings make the playoffs for the first time since 2006. All 100 voters from a panel of reporters and broadcasters had Brown atop their ballot Wednesday. Brown won the award for the second time, adding this trophy to the one he got after he and LeBron James led Cleveland to a 66-16 record in the 2008-09 season. The other finalists were Oklahoma City’s Mark Daigneault and Boston’s Joe Mazzulla. Golf – PGA – Tiger Woods has ankle surgery, rest of majors in doubt Tiger Woods is recovering from another surgery. Woods has posted on Twitter that he had fusion surgery on his right ankle to alleviate arthritis from a broken bone. Most estimates on recovery are eight to 12 weeks. That would put into doubt whether he plays in the three remaining majors. Woods had a noticeable limp when he played in the Masters. He made the cut for a record-tying 23rd time. But he withdrew Sunday morning during the third round because of plantar fasciitis. The broken bone in his ankle stems from the February 2021 car crash in Los Angeles. Texas cheerleaders shot after one says she got in wrong car Authorities say a man shot and wounded two cheerleaders in a Texas supermarket parking lot after one of them said she mistakenly got into his car thinking it was her own. The shooting early Tuesday east of Austin was the latest in a string of recent U.S. shootings apparently sparked by someone showing up at the wrong place. Heather Roth says she got into what she thought was her car, but there was a man in the passenger seat so she got back into her teammate’s car. She says the man then approached her teammate’s car and opened fire. She was grazed and her teammate was critically wounded. The man fled but was later arrested. Dumars also says it was made with serious consideration of many factors. Dumars oversees the league’s basketball operations and sanctions for on-court incidents. Green stepped on the chest of Kings center Domantas Sabonis midway during the fourth quarter of Game 2 of that series on Monday night. Green was ejected for the play. The league escalated the punishment on Tuesday night. It's another season in Charlotte, and hopefully a good for a Knights team that wasn't just bad in 2022, but embarrassingly so, as just one-third of Charlotte starts were made by legit starting pitchers. Darren Black hopped on with Brett Ballantini to discuss the highest level, yet somewhat AAAA status, of the Chicago minor-league system: The biggie: Will the Knights start actual starting pitchers this season? With Davis Martin, Sean Burke, Jonathan Stiever and John Parke, it appears so. Maybe not 100% of the time, but we're hoping for 80%. Brett immediately carves out an exception to the 100% goal — if Davis Martin or Sean Burke need to be called up immediately to take the spot of our fifth starter, [redacted], all good Between Gregory Santos and Franklin German, there are two MLB-ready arms in Charlotte, and on the southpaw side, it's Tanner Banks. All in all, not the worst way to break camp Darren was forced into an altogether-too-long segment on Yolbert Sánchez, who has seen his star fall right off of the map — especially once José Rodríguez is promoted from Birmingham At some point, Darren goes from intermittent Zoom camera to gone for good, so forgive the 30 seconds of tech failure ... just cue up the Yakety Sax, please Given just three true outfielders on the South Side (or 2 1⁄2 , or just two, depending on how you feel about your corner outfielders getting caught in the fishing nets) are the Knights stocked with ready band-aids? More so than in 2022, says Darren Next week, with the rest of the minors opening on April 7, we'll run our other three affiliate previews Learn more about your ad choices. Locked On White Sox - Daily Podcast On The Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox lost to the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night by a score of 8-4. It was a very bad start to a very important week for the White Sox. Lance Lynn didn't necessarily get hit hard but he got hit. He gave up 5 runs in the first inning and only went 4 innings in total. The White Sox needed Matt Foster, Joe Kelly, and Tanner Banks out of the bullpen. There has been lifelessness oozing from the White Sox for a majority of the season. Are their clubhouse issues? Is there a lack of team leaders? Are there cliques? The optics are not good and Monday's offensive performance did not help the narrative. Yoan Moncada hit a timely 3 run home run to close the gap early on but that was about it in terms of excitement. The White Sox and Guardians have a doubleheader on Tuesday then the series finale on Wednesday.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Chicago White Sox lost both games of a doubleheader to the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. In Game 1, Dallas Keuchel was awful as he gave up 8 earned runs in 1+ inning of work. The White Sox Sox defense did not help matters as they committed 4 errors. Game 2 featured better pitching performances however, like in Game 1, the offense was non-existent. The Chicago White Sox bullpen got some outstanding outings from Tanner Banks, Reynaldo Lopez, Jose Ruiz and more. The bullpen only gave up only 1 earned run on the day. Hopefully the White Sox can put this day behind them and finish off the series on a positive note behind another stellar outing from Dylan Cease. Today is a new day. Go Sox.
