Most of the information we receive today is filtered through sources that have an agenda. We receive the narrative the people who are operating the media want us to hear. The media presents thoughts and ideas that usually creates fear in some form or another. The horrible things that are happening in Ukraine are no exception.Nonetheless, it's a breath of fresh air to listen to someone who has family on the ground in Ukraine. Tetyana Gumenyuk is such a source. Tetyana is speaking to us from a position of first hand knowledge, having family in Ukraine for generations. Further, her family has been Christian for generations. Come listen to Tetyana as she discloses her relevant background and current hands on understanding of what God is doing in her country. The beautiful nation of Ukraine has been torn apart. There is no effective help from the government there. The money flowing into the country from the US is not reaching the people. Yet, beyond all of that God is there, His people are there, His people: the church of God is helping. In listening to this podcast, you will have an opportunity to pray and ask the Lord is there anything He would have you do. At a minimum, I am sure your prayers will be welcomed. If there is anything else you can do with your time, talent and treasure, you will be given an opportunity to reach out to the Voice of Ukraine ministry to see what else you can do.The Father's Heart Talk Show and podcast seeks to present the good things God is doing in the world, through His people. Shalom,Papa Tom
Share your thoughtsHave you ever felt like your past was too broken to redeem? Tetyana Zabroda's story is proof that God can turn even the darkest beginnings into something beautiful. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Tetyana from the very young age became aware that she was a product of rape and her biologocal father was a terrible man. Her mother chose not to have an abortion and tried to give her a good life while carrying the burden of the traumatic past. Tetyana's grandmother was the only one who welcomed her birth. But her story doesn't end with struggle—it's about transformation. During the stillness of the 2020 lockdowns, Tatiana experienced a spiritual awakening that completely changed the course of her life - she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. A mission trip to Greece became a defining moment where she saw God's plans unfold in ways she never imagined. Watching the redemption of Galina, a Ukrainian refugee, whose story mirrored her own, ignited a boldness in Tetyana to share her faith and bring hope to others. This episode isn't just about one woman's journey—it's about all of us who have wondered if our past defines our future. If you've ever doubted God's ability to heal and redeem, Tetyana's story will remind you that nothing is beyond His reach.Support the showThanks for listening! 75 Ukrainian refugees living in Phoenix House in the Shannon Town Centre will be relocated to Lisdoonvarna later this month. The residents were informed of this decision in a letter issued to them last Monday and unless they find housing in the intervening period, 60 will be placed in the Imperial Hotel while the remaining 15 will go into the Burren Castle Hotel next Monday June 24th. In a statement to Clare FM, the Department of Integration claims the decision is "part of the Government's policy of reducing its accommodation portfolio", and those fleeing the war in Ukraine who are availing of emergency accommodation are "regularly encouraged to make their own independent arrangements for accommodation". Clare FM's Seán Lyons visited the residents of Phoenix House to see how the decision will affect them, and started by speaking to Tetyana who is a single mother living in the complex.

Once the Russian invasion of Ukraine started, people with disabilities suffered tremendously. And amid the panic and chaos that followed the invasion, many were unable to evacuate from their homes. This left people trapped in the crossfire without access to bomb shelters. Tanya is one of those who managed to flee. Ever since, she's been helping fellow Ukrainians with disabilities stuck near the frontlines of the war in Ukraine. In our third bonus episode, available exclusively to our Patreon family, the #UkrainianSpaces team is bringing you a cringe-fest full of embarrassing things we said and thought about Ukraine and Ukrainianness. Be patient with us. One can measure the supremacy of a colonial empire in the number of lands it conquered and pillaged. But the real triumph happens in the heads of the people it conquered and conditioned to feel inferior. Misunderstood, ridiculed, or cast out. The relations between Ukrainians at home and the Ukrainian diaspora have often been rocky. Ukrainians often mention that the ongoing genocide did not start in 2022 but rather has been a slow-burning event since the 2014 Maidan Revolution. Everything that has happened since then is about Russia punishing Ukraine for wanting to be free. If the world did understand the revolution and heard Ukrainians 9 years ago, then maybe we wouldn't be dealing with this catastrophe today. In this episode, Tetyana joins us late. If you are interested in the Chris & Chris chat, along with WCCS news, then listen on. If you would just like to hear the awesome Tetyana story, skip to around 25 mins. However, we urge you to listen to it all! Tetyana Denford is a Ukrainian-American author and freelance writer. She is also a translator for Frontline News, has written and edited articles for magazines in NY and the UK, is featured in The Telegraph and The New York Times, and speaks several languages. She grew up with her Ukrainian heritage at the forefront of her childhood, and it led to her being fascinated with how storytellers in various cultures passed down their lives to future generations; life stories are where we learn about ourselves, each other, and are the things that matter most, in a world where things move so quickly. Her novel, Motherland (now being relaunched as The Child of Ukraine), is based on an incredible family secret that was revealed by her maternal grandmother, Yulia, only recently, and has been described by people as 'haunting', 'powerful', and 'a fragile and hopeful story of an immigrant family'. It was longlisted for the Readers Digest Self-Published Book Awards, and has been met with critical global acclaim. Her 'conversation books' were published in 2021-2022 and are a series of three themed, handbag-sized books of poetry and prose, designed to help the reader reframe subjects in a way that can help them find hope, magic, empowerment, and love. Her current book, The Child of Ukraine (previously known as Motherland), was relaunched by Bookouture (an imprint of Hachette Books) in July 2022, and a new historical novel will be out in the summer of 2023.Tetyana grew up in a small town in New York, has lived in Italy and the UK, and currently lives in New York with her husband and three children. Her latest novel is The Soldier's Child: A powerful and heartbreaking WW2 saga based on a true story. The blurb:Ukraine, 1941. War has ripped Katya's country and heart in two. When her first love and the father of her child, a young Hungarian soldier, is killed in battle she thinks her heart couldn't break any more. But when she discovers she is pregnant, she is forced to give their beautiful son away. Then two soldiers knock down her door and force her into a truck. Katya is terrified, but as she is driven away to a labor camp her spirit remains strong. Because as she looks out the tiny window at the barren winter landscape she thinks only of her little Alexander…She knows she must find a way to escape if she can ever see him again. But will she ever be reunited with her precious son? Or will they be torn apart forever by the war that has already taken so much?Based on an incredible true story, this is an emotional and gripping novel of family, love and the unwavering strength of hope. Ukraine is fighting for its very existence, against an enemy that repeatedly claims it is not a real country, that it has no identity and culture as distinct from Russian culture, and that Ukrainian is not an independent language. Equally on the far left and extreme right in the West, there are some who see Ukraine as a tool of Western foreign policy. But Ukrainians have agency, and the right to determine their future, the evolution of their political system and which alliances they want to entertain. Today we are exploring the cultural aspects of this David and Goliath struggle of a young democracy versus an old autocracy. Tetyana Denford is a Ukrainian-American fiction author, translator for Frontline PBS, freelance writer as well as YouTube channel host with a 20+ year history of working in the writing and editing world. Her first novel, self-published in 2020 as 'Motherland' has been re-published in July 2022 with the team at Hachette/Bookouture as 'The Child of Ukraine'. It reached #1 on the Amazon New Release list. Tetyana used to write freelance for Elle and Vogue, and has been featured in The New York Times, The Telegraph, The Paris Review, Flock Magazine, and Medium.

"Cooking is like therapy to us. I grew up where my big extended family would come together in summer under the walnut tree. The adults would drink and we'd eat, stories would be told and we'd break into song. It was a healing process." In the first of a new series, the cookbook author Olia Hercules tells us why she's picked the Ukrainian artist and activist Alla Horska as her Great Life. A member of the Sixtiers, Alla was a part of the Ukrainian dissident movement of writers, artists and cultural figures who stood against the destruction of Ukrainian identity and rallied for greater freedoms. Growing up in Ukraine, Olia says she was taught so much about Russian culture, and so little about Ukrainian culture, that she wanted to fix that. Now in a time of war, Olia discovers how parts of Alla's life mirror her own. Joining her in studio is Tetyana Filevska, creative director of the Ukrainian Institute. Tetyana moved to London to escape the war in Ukraine. Future guests in the series include writer Olivia Laing on Christopher Lloyd, Bob Harris on Sir Matt Busby, and Noddy Holder on Chuck Berry. Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Caitlin Hobbs

Tune in to hear Tetyana share her perspective on work-life balance, business models, and generational differences in our industry! KEY TAKEAWAYS: -- Covid Impacted everyone differently -- People want more time for self-care, at home, and with loved ones -- The generational clash comes from a different approach to work and life than our parents and grandparents. -- Instead of working hard, saving, and climbing a ladder, rising stylists and beauty pros want to enjoy what they do and have some sort of control over how they do it. -- This clashes with salon owners trying to fill their salons after covid -- Stylists left the salon to service their guests safely; some also left because they felt they would make more $$ -- Salons are tinkering with different business models -- Make sure you understand the "Why" when selecting a business model or BTC path! -- Why do you want independence, why do you want to be an employee, is a collective right for me, what do I want for my life and my work? -- Membership-based, not rent-based model is referred to as a collective or collaborative environment -- The collective is not a co-op, everyone has a say, but there is an individual/group that makes the final decisions based on the input of the members. -- A lot of digitizing booking, check-in, and check-out processes MENTIONED IN TODAY'S EPISODE: CosmoProf: https://devdw.cosmoprofbeauty.com/ Follow CosmoProf on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmoprofbeauty/?_ga=2.223613339.1473428306.1656165040-1048473033.1656165040 Follow Tetyana on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tkcosmobeauty/ We deliver curated resources, coaching, advice, and first-hand experience so you may become a well-rounded, self-sufficient, business-savvy, and strong individual ready to transition or transform yourself and the industry. In this episode, I chat with the fabulous Tetyana Denford, a Ukrainian-American author, translator, and freelance writer who grew up in New York with her Ukrainian heritage at the forefront of her childhood. It was an absolute privilege to spend time with Tetyana. We discussed how the world is witnessing the humbling strength, grit, resilience, and humour that Ukrainian people demonstrate daily in the face of invasion and war with Russia. Tetyana explains why we need to pace ourselves with the content we consume and share. And why she is encouraging creatives to celebrate and share Ukrainian art, literature and culture to bolster support and cultivate the valuable connections and empathy we all need to carry us forward during these heartbreaking times. We talk about her breathtaking historical first novel, Motherland, which tells the story of motherhood and displacement by sharing her immigrant family's escape from wartime Ukraine and the shocking secret her grandmother carried for decades. I cannot recommend this beautiful book more highly - it's such a profound read and one that will stay in my heart for many years to come. This was great chat with Tetyana and I loved learning how sharing the spirit and defiance of Ukraine through art and literature will cultivate greater connection and compassion in the world. Tetyana Denford grew up in a small town in New York, and is a Ukrainian-American author, translator, and freelance writer. She grew up with her Ukrainian heritage at the forefront of her childhood, and it led to her being fascinated with how storytellers in various cultures passed down their lives to future generations; life stories are where we learn about ourselves, each other, and are the things that matter most, in a world where things move so quickly. Her debut novel, Motherland was published in March 2020 to critical success and longlisted for The Readers Digest Self Published Book Awards. It was based on an incredible family secret that was revealed by her maternal grandmother, Julia, only recently, and has been described by people as 'haunting', 'powerful and devastating', and 'a fragile and hopeful story of an immigrant family'. She has also worked for Frontline News, has written and edited articles for magazines in NY and the UK, and speaks several languages. She also hosts a YouTube show called 'The Craft and Business of Books' that helps writers understand both the creative side and the business side of the book world. Her current series of 'conversation books', collections of poetry and prose about Grief, Motherhood, and Love, are out in 2021. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lucia-matuonto/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lucia-matuonto/support Learn more about your ad choices.
