Your cravings might be telling you more than you think. Martin, once a refugee from Czechoslovakia, shares how his own health struggles led him to Metabolic Typing—a method that connects your dominant glands and nervous system to the foods and workouts your body actually needs. Whether you reach for carbs, creamy treats, or savory meals, there's a reason behind it. Martin explains how balancing acidity and alkalinity, and tailoring exercise to your body type, can shift your health, mood, and weight for the better. If you're tired of guessing what's right for your body, his story offers a clear and practical way to start understanding it. About Martin Pytela: Martin Pytela, a respected functional medicine expert and Metabolic Typing coach, is dedicated to "Restoring Vitality to You and the Planet." His journey began after receiving a dozen mercury amalgam fillings as a young immigrant to Canada, which led to years of unexplained health challenges, including severe allergies, debilitating back pain, and periodontal disease. Despite consulting numerous professionals, none identified mercury toxicity as the root cause. Taking matters into his own hands, Martin embraced natural healing methods, incorporating raw foods, detoxification, and proper food combining. Over time, he reversed many of his ailments, with back pain subsiding in five years and allergies disappearing after a decade. Since 2011, Martin has coached over 12,000 clients and shared his expertise with more than 60,000 students on Udemy. His teachings cover healing trauma, managing stress, weight loss, metabolism, longevity, mindfulness, gut health, and more. Through his Life Enthusiast website, Martin provides resources and solutions to inspire hope and healing for individuals and the planet. Understanding personal physiology is essential for tailoring our health strategies and improving overall well-being.Understanding your metabolic type (sympathetic or parasympathetic dominant) and endocrine dominance (thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, or ovarian) can help tailor your diet to optimize energy, mood, and wellness. For example, a thyroid-dominant individual may thrive on a carb-centric breakfast, while an adrenal-dominant person benefits from a breakfast high in fats and proteins. While diet and lifestyle adjustments can align with specific body aesthetics, prioritizing metabolic balance and emotional well-being over appearances leads to sustainable wellness and reduced cravings.QUOTES: [7:12] “The medical system is not using the scientific method. They say they do, but they don't. They never ask what the cause of this is. They see a symptom, and they say, for the symptom, I have a pill.” Martin Pytela[17:45] “ Depending on our [metabolic] type, we want to shift the balance of macronutrients in our approach.” Jenn Trepeck[28:24] “We know that blood sugar balance and many of these elements are critical to metabolic health, and that doesn't necessarily mean one size or one shape.” Jenn Trepeck[29:42] “I would like to say this: when you learn and figure out your [metabolic] type, you can work with it or against it.” Martin Pytela[30:23] “Sometimes the choice that might get us to the aesthetic isn't necessarily the choice that brings us peace, joy, and some of the things that we're looking for.” Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Learn more about Healthy Vibe Tribe HEREReady to jump into the Healthy Vibe Tribe? Martin Pytela is a functional medicine expert, metabolic typing coach, and fellow podcaster. He discusses the principles of functional medicine and its focus on finding the root causes of health issues rather than just treating symptoms. Understanding metabolic behavior and how it can affect emotional well-being and overall health highlights the need to better understand the connection between diet and health conditions. Martin emphasizes the need to personalize approaches to health based on individual genetics and endocrine dominance. Martin elaborates, "Functional medicine is a moniker developed to distinguish it from allopathic medicine in the sense that functionals are looking for root causes of things. In the typical medical setting, you are just looking at a symptom, and you address the symptom with some chemicals and let the patient manage or cope with life as is. With functional medicine, you try to find the cause of it and restore health. So, rather than treating symptoms alone, you're trying to heal the patient." "Early on, they were checking venous blood pH. These days, we can get the same results just by putting forward a questionnaire with 120 multiple-choice questions. And at the end of it, we're able to tell you what your endocrine dominance is and what your metabolic dominance is. The endocrine dominance, which we identify as the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, or ovaries in women, will drive how a person will gain weight or lose weight primarily. And then the metabolic dominance, of which we have either the autonomic or the oxidizer, one is the lipo-oxidative the other one is carbo-oxidative dominances. With that we'll figure out how the pH of the internal body terrain is responding to the food combinations." #MartinPytela #FunctionalMedicine #MetabolicTyping #EndocrineDominance #HolisticHealth #ThePainManifesto Life-Enthusiast.com Download the transcript here

What Is Metabolic Typing and How Martin Overcame Mercury Toxicity Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad: Over 40 Fitness Hacks Facebook Group Martin Pytela - Metabolic Typing Coach Life Enthusiast Podcast www.life-enthusiast.com In this podcast episode, Brad Williams of Over 40 Fitness interviews Martin Pytela from Life Enthusiast about his journey into holistic health and his certification as a Metabolic Typing Coach. Martin shares his personal health struggles, which began after receiving 12 mercury amalgam fillings at the age of 25. This led to a decade of severe health issues, including back pain, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, weight gain, and allergies, all of which were traced back to mercury toxicity. Frustrated with conventional medicine's focus on symptom treatment rather than root causes, Martin embarked on a path of self-education in health and wellness. He discovered that many of his issues were linked to mercury poisoning and systemic imbalances caused by modern industrialization and environmental toxins. Martin explains metabolic typing, which identifies four main body types based on endocrine dominance: thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and gonadal. Each type has specific dietary needs and tendencies. For example, thyroid dominants do well on lighter proteins and fats but gain weight on starch, while adrenal dominants thrive on fruits and veggies but gain weight with fats. Martin also discusses the importance of balancing body pH levels, which affect mood and overall health. He highlights how an imbalance can lead to conditions ranging from procrastination to severe depression (alkaline) or from impatience to anxiety (acidic). He emphasizes the need for appropriate mineral intake, particularly magnesium, to maintain this balance and support muscle function. The conversation touches on practical tips, such as using magnesium oil for muscle relaxation and performance enhancement, and underscores the necessity of individualized dietary plans based on metabolic type for effective weight management and overall health improvement. Want to follow along with us on video? Click here to go to the Youtube version and see the slides! Dr. Alan Weinstein, AKA, "Dr. Al", is one of Reed's mentors and best friends. In addition to that, he has an extensive background in healthcare as well as marketing. Interestingly, it's the marketing side of his background which is why we invited him on the show today! Of the many things that go into health coaching businesses, it's often the business stuff that many coaches are least looking forward to. That is, the average health coach LOVES talking about various dietary approaches, looking at and analyzing labs, as well as guiding people along their journey to new and improved health! However, when it comes to actually attracting those clients they otherwise love to work with, that part can get a bit messy. In comes Dr. Al! During this episode of The Health Detective Podcast, Dr. Al helps us understand the psychology behind why some clients say "Yes", and why others say "No". And, just to be clear, this does NOT MEAN this is an episode on how to sell people expensive health coaching packages that they DIDN'T NEED OR WEREN'T READY FOR. What we are referring to specifically in this episode is how to get people who you KNOW you can help and who you realize would be EXCELLENT for your program to say YES so that both you and the client can win. Does all this sound good? Then the episode itself will sound even better! Listen now and let us know what you think or ask us questions by reaching out on Instagram @fdntraining. About Dr. Al: Alan S. Weinstein, D.C. ran a state of the art, waiting list multidisciplinary, multi-physician practice for over twenty five years, combining neurology, radiology, exercise rehabilitation, biochemistry, Chinese medicine, acupuncture and chiropractic. He had so many referrals that he had to refer them to other physicians in his area as he was unable to keep up with the demand for the Wellness care he created. He was one of the first physicians to achieve three separate certifications in exercise rehabilitation in the United States. He served on the Quality Assurance Committee of the American Chiropractic Association, where he formulated the Rehabilitation Guidelines from which all other chiropractic physicians had to adhere. He completed the ACA Neurology Diplomat program and was honored as valedictorian of his class. He has achieved certifications in ADHD and Learning Disabilities, Vertigo, Applied Kinesiology, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, Detoxification, Metabolic Typing and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. His leadership and entrepreneurial spirit paved the way in the managed care arena, where he was a founder and board member of the Managed Care Network. He was the first chiropractor ever selected to serve as a panel physician for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield Capitol Care. He was also chosen as a panel physician for Prudential (Prucare) Insurance, Giant Food Stores, Travelers Insurance, A.I.I.A. / P.P.O., Health Care, Focus, and CorVel. He served as an Independent Medical Examiner for Hartford Insurance, Kemper Insurance, and Mediq Claims Review. He was accepted as a Life Member in the National Registry of Who's Who in recognition of exemplary service, both to the community and to the profession. He served on the board of the International College of Applied Kinesiology. He then decided to give up practicing and devote his time to marketing. He soon wrote, directed, and stared in his own television long form infomercial featuring an exercise device of his own invention. During this time he worked with Eric Stilson who many of you know for his hugely successful marketing campaigns for HealthRider, Bowflex and the AbDoer. He honed his media skills with Mercury Media and Euro RSG the largest media buyers in the world. He then went on to work with some of the top innovators in internet marketing today. He began to work with Alex Mandossian one of the most if not the most successful marketer in the world who has generated over $473 million dollars online for himself and his affiliates. As a result Dr. Weinstein created a 7 figure business helping health-care professionals use podcasts to build their practice. He then created the first lead generation/ follow-up marketing SYSTEMS for healthcare professionals which he still runs actively today. Currently, Dr. Weinstein specializes in helping his clients understand Brain Based Marketing a neurological approach to building your brand. Your host, Dr. Sharon Surita goes over two of the functional labs we use to help direct our food choices, make meal planning simpler and more precise with respect to improving energy and our sense of balance (homeostasis). Metabolic Typing is a method that is unique in that it addresses a person's bioindividual needs, macronutrient ratios and ingredients that work best. The Mediator Release Test is a food sensitivity test that allows us to understand which foods may be triggering immune responses even without having to challenge the ingredients prior to the lab draw. Dr. Surita holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering and has studied environmental toxicants extensively. She has published many peer-reviewed papers that cover topics specific to air, water and soil quality along with more specific papers on compounds found in consumer products, that may contribute to elevated health risks. Where previously, she focused on external stressors impacting health, she is now committed to helping others find optimal health by looking at both internal and external stressors. I'm curious what you thought about Meridian Grace. She's quite a fascinating woman I have to say. Her and Dr. Richard Massey have to be the top power couple in health if you ask me. We talked about her incredibly diverse background as well as how metabolic typing plays a role in how much energy we have, how we feel, our digestion and so much more. She gave some great ideas on how to map out your own health journey. It's interesting because even if you find the right diet that works amazingly well for your DNA, that diet might not work for you during times of increased stress. Or it might. Personally I think that as humans we only know about 1% of what's actually going on inside our bodies when we eat. The human body is so incredibly complex in how it uses electricity from food along with minerals and vitamins that might not ever even be discovered. I've heard that in a tomato there are over 5,000 chemical compounds and the majority of them haven't even been discovered yet. Incredible. But what I will say is that Meridian and Dr. Massey are on to something big with their entire program they have there in Texas. I would HIGHLY recommend going to see them if you're able. I believe it would be money well spent. Please pass this show on to your friends. People need to hear this powerfully empowering information so that they can have hope. We hope you enjoyed our interview with Meridian Grace as much as we did and if you did would you consider clicking "like" and "share" on this page to let your friends and family know about the work he is doing? CURTIS KUHN - The Metabolic Institute, LLC - The Metabolic Institute, LLC is a Corporation formed by Dr. Curtis R. Kuhn after 24 years of personal experience on Metabolic Therapy. The core of this nutritional protocol is the science commonly known as "Metabolic Typing." It's founder and scientific creator is Dr. William Donald Kelley, founder of the International Health Institute and co-founder of The College of Metabolic Medicine. As you discover more information about this unique science during your visit to this website, you should know that Dr. Kelley's work has been literally decades ahead of any other nutritional program currently in the world. His current book, "Cancer, Curing The Incurable," was written after three visits to the United States Supreme Court, with the personal case histories of 33,000 patients over a 42 year period. The subtitle says it all : This program is not about remission, it is about a cure!!! Although cancer is a serious disease, there are dozens of other metabolic disorders that can be positively affected by the correct metabolic protocol. We know through Dr. Kelley's research during the past 45 years, that cancer, like most degenerative diseases is also a deficiency disease. A Pancreatic Enzyme Deficiency, combined also with a slight hormonal imbalance. But Dr. Kelley was not the first to prove this, Dr. John Beard in the 19th century, after 20 years of intense clinical research was the first to discover this scientific fact. Metabolic typing is one of Dr. Kelley's major scientific discoveries that addresses each individual Biochemically. This is called "Biochemical Individuality." Just like your finger print, we all have a unique cell print, which genetically determines what type of foods we thrive best on. This premise is based upon the Autonomic Nervous System. Thus nutritional supplements are also designed for each specific metabolic type. As you learn more of this science from our website, you will begin to understand the 12 basic metabolic types and where you may currently be on Dr. Kelley's Metabolic Spiral Of Health. *** AND NOW ***The ‘X' Zone TV Channel on SimulTV - www.simultv.comThe ‘X' Zone TV Channel Radio Feed (Free - No Subscription Required) - https://www.spreaker.com/show/xztv-the-x-zone-tv-show-audio The ‘X' Chronicles Newspaper - www.xchroniclesnewspaper.com (Free)To contact Rob McConnell - misterx@xzoneradiotv.com

In what is arguably the most heart-wrenching episode of the The Health Detective Podcast to date, our guest tonight, Steve Baum, will teach you exactly what it means to persevere. Steve has been helping people get into the best shape of their lives for almost 40 years. When he was a kid, he idolized a boy that he thought was ripped and muscular, and he wanted to look like him. Then, on a family float trip, he took his shirt off, and the boy said, "OMG, you have tits!" Steve could think of nothing else but transforming himself and getting lean and muscular from that moment on. So, he talked his parents into buying a weight set and devoured the muscle mags, following every program he could find. Fortunately, his parents didn't want him to hurt himself, and they hired a professional to work with him. This person taught Steve how to lift weights and eat right to reach his goals. Learning from a pro had an immediate impact and set the stage for the rest of his life. After that, fitness and nutrition became his passion at 14 years old. At 16 years old, Steve started coaching and training clients. He got certified as a personal trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine. Then, he went on to earn certifications from The National Strength and Conditioning Association, The National Academy of Sports Medicine, Poliquin Strength Systems, Cross Fit, The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, Precision Nutrition, Metabolic Typing, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, Performance Enhancement Therapy, and The CHEK Institute. In 1997, Steve moved to Scottsdale, AZ to open his dream training facility, including an incredible gym and a state-of-the-art physical therapy clinic. While in Arizona, he got married and had a beautiful baby boy named Steven Austin Nicholas Baum. Being a dad was a whole new ball game! Austin followed him everywhere and was always around the gym, even in diapers! He taught Steve what unconditional love was all about. In 2004 Steve and his family moved to St. Louis, and he opened a new gym. Then, in 2010, tragedy struck, and he learned the definition of the word "persevere." He faced the most significant battle any parent could ever have to face, the death of his precious little boy. The stress from this had a devastating impact on Steve. He became so exhausted that he could barely get out of bed. Steve gained over 70 pounds in less than six months, and regardless of how healthy he ate or how hard he exercised, nothing he had learned up to this point was helping him. He went from doctor to doctor searching for answers, only to hear everything looked fine and maybe he was "depressed." He knew deep down something other than depression was causing his issues, but he couldn't figure out what. That's when a colleague introduced Steve to Reed Davis and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition®. Reed had Steve run some functional lab tests, and he finally identified some weak links in his metabolism that were causing his health issues. Correcting these helped Steve get back into the best shape of his life. After that, he knew he could use FDN to help other exhausted business owners and entrepreneurs regain their health, so he became a certified FDN practitioner. In 2020, Steve decided to sell his gym to focus 100 percent on functional health coaching. Now, he's using all of the tools he's gathered, including FDN, to help other entrepreneurs and professionals identify and correct their health issues. Steve is also happy to report that he's happily remarried and has an awesome wife who's a great mom to FIVE kids and a soon-to-be certified ADAPT health coach. Together they're helping burned-out professionals increase their energy, lose stubborn fat, and get in phenomenal shape so they can create more success and live life instead of feeling like zombies. Steve has given our audience both his personal e-mail AND phone number. They are sbfitness@mac.com and 3142653503, respectively. You can find out more about FDNthrive by going to www.fdnthrive.com.

Dr. Leland Stillman is one interesting doctor and a man after my own heart - meaning he's interested in everything from how polar bears use cold thermogenesis and hibernation to enhance longevity to how your environment drastically shapes your health no matter how hard you exercise or how perfect you eat. He became interested in natural and integrative medicine at an early age. After majoring in environmental health at Connecticut College and earning his medical doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Dr. Stillman completed his training in internal medicine at Maine Medical Center. Board-certified in internal medicine and specializing in integrative medicine, he has a passion for doing whatever it takes to discover the root cause of his patients' medical problems through advanced laboratory testing and then addressing those imbalances with dietary or lifestyle interventions. Dr. Stillman focuses not only on the patient but on all aspects of the environment they live in. Some of Dr. Stillman's professional interests include phototherapy (photobiomodulation), nutrition, toxicology, and the immune system. "What In The Wellness?!" A global perspective on integrative health &wellness Hosted by Ansley Knopf
In this episode I sit down with Reed Davis to have a fantastic conversation about functional health. Reed Davis, Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) and Certified Nutritional Therapist (CNT), is an expert in functional lab testing and holistic lifestyle medicine. He is the Founder of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) and the FDN Certification Course with over 3000 graduates in 50 countries. Reed served as the Health Director at a Wellness Center in Southern California for over 10 years and with over 10,000 clients is known as one of the most experienced clinicians in the world. Reed serves on the Advisory Board of the American Natural Wellness Coaches Board and the American Association of Natural Wellness Coaches. He lives in the US and when not teaching the FDN Certification Course and helping his graduates build their private practices, he is usually found gardening or riding motorcycles. What are you interested in? Proudest Accomplishments? Other than building my business and world-wide community of FDN Practitioners? I love riding motorcycles and try to get into the nearby wine country, mountains and desert once a week or so, where I stop at out-of-the-way antique and gem shops or the odd biker bar. I have made many cross-country trips including motorcycle rallies in Nevada and South Dakota. I love gardening and have planted over 2000 succulents in my gardens, planters and property in So. Cal. I own and operate a mini resort in the hills East of San Diego, overlooking a vast natural landscape and huge reservoir, and spend 1-3 hours per day outside working on my property. I love to entertain and am known for small catered gatherings, wine-tastings, hiking and almost year-round dazzling sunsets. Who or what has been the greatest influence in your personal health journey? Working in a natural wellness center and learning from many of the top pioneers in “alternative medicine” has had a tremendous effect on my own personal health journey. The primary three people who mentored me in the early years were Drs. Bill Timmins, Bill Bailey and Bill Wolcott. Timmins taught me to use functional lab work to identify the underlying causes of almost every chronic stress-related condition. Bailey gave me insights and guidelines that helped refine my approach to identifying “healing opportunities” and how to address each problem using general principles of healing vs specific treatment. Bailey helped to define the distinct lines between “practicing medicine” and “building health” and is still a friend and mentor over 20 years later. Wolcott taught me how to see food as medicine and how to determine the correct diet for each individual based on his system of Metabolic Typing®. While other mentors were very instructive, these three Bills were the most significant in the early years and, combined with my own observations from running thousands of labs on thousands of people, helped shape the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) Methodology and the DRESS for Health Success® Systems. Show notes at https://thesternmethod.com/mary-swander Mary Swander is an award-winning American author, dramatist, performer, speaker, and teacher. She is the former Poet Laureate of Iowa and a professor emerita Distinguished Professor of Iowa State University. Mary is the Artistic Director of Swander Woman Productions, a theatre troupe that performs dramas about food, farming, and the wider rural environment. She is also the Executive Director of AgArts, a nonprofit designed to imagine and promote healthy food systems through the arts. Her latest book is The Maverick M.D.: Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez and His Fight for a New Treatment for Cancer (New Spring Press). The Maverick M.D. is the story of how Dr. Nick Gonzalez perfected the scientific theory behind Dr. William Kelley's work and put the protocol into practice in New York City. Gonzalez drew courage from his Christian faith, from Mexican-Italian-American family, and from key loved ones, colleagues and mentors. He spent years treating patients with the most serious conditions--from cancer to diabetes to lupus. But he wasn't satisfied as an outlier in the medical community. He wanted his work put to the test with a clinical trial. This book portrays a man who fought for the acceptance of a nutritional cancer treatment in the halls of some of the most established U.S. medical institutions. Against intense opposition, Nick Gonzalez's determination held up until the end--a scientist who developed a therapy that saves lives and promotes the healing of the human mind, body and spirit. ***Resources Mentioned*** Mary Swander Swander Woman Productions Agarts: Imagine a healthy food system New Spring Press Nutricology Pancreas Pork Natural Glandular Capsules Nutricology ImmoPlex Natural Glandulars The Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation The Maverick MD *** In This Episode: Ryan takes a candid look at Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez’s life and “the man behind the suit” in the discussion with his biographer, Mary Swander. You’ll learn about why Ryan thinks so highly of Dr. Gonzalez, his life and personality, the Gonzalez Protocol and the results it produced. Ryan and Mary delve into Dr. Gonzalez’s attempts to take his enzyme therapy protocol to clinical trials in the conventional medical arena. They also discuss Mary’s experience as a patient of Dr. Gonzalez for over 20 years. You’ll gain insight into the brilliant mind of Dr. Gonzalez, his spiritual life, his concept of balance, and his mysterious death. And speaking of brilliant minds...at the end, you’ll be treated to a special creation by Ryan’s son, Ryder! Timestamps: 2:35 How Ryan learned about Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez Dr. Gonzalez was speaking at The Truth About Cancer conference Smartest guy in the whole field - genius Didn’t consider himself an integrative medical practitioner Helping people with cancer and other degenerative diseases Ivy-league doctor, traditional medical training 5:15 What was the paradigm shift which caused Dr. Gonzalez to go into the realm of unconventional medicine? His two loves : literature/arts and medicine Accomplished investigative journalist - worked for Time, Inc. Linus Pauling encouraged him to go to medical school after an interview Sloan Kettering Medical School When Dr. Gonzalez’s father got cancer, he stood beside his father’s death-bed and vowed he would find a cure for cancer. Met dentist William Kelley who had cured himself from pancreatic cancer Dr. Gonzalez wanted to know how Dr. Kelley cured himself and his patients - went to Texas to investigate how Came back to Sloan Kettering and tried to prove Dr. Kelley’s method in the conventional setting Wanted clinic trials but conventional medicine wasn’t cooperative Dr. Gonzalez had family in Mexico and could have gone there to practice alternative medicine but wanted to stay in the US. 11:45 Mary Swander’s experience as a patient of Dr. Gonzalez Dr. Gonzalez passed away in 2015 MaryBeth Gonzalez (widow) has worked hard to keep his legacy alive Mary Swander was patient of Dr. Gonzalez for 20 years Group of scientists with breast cancer wanted to work with Dr. Gonzalez to heal metastasis On the advice of a friend, Mary worked with Dr. Gonzalez to clear up her fibrocystic tumors and to build up her depleted immune system Mary didn’t want people to forget Dr. Gonzalez and his work. She felt a book needed to be written about his life and therapy. Dr. Gonzalez’s widow, Mary Beth, agreed. 17:00 What surprised Mary about Dr. Gonzalez’ life During the time Dr. Gonzalez was a journalist, he used to read a book a day. He researched and was fascinated with ecology As a child, Dr. Gonzalez used to spend his summers camping at Lake George, NY. The rest of the year, his family lived in NYC. Went to Brown University but transferred for a short time to Cornell to study agriculture Read Sir Albert Howard and other sustainable agricultural teachers Thinking holistically at a very young age 21:25 The experience of trying to explain unconventional healing to conventional medical practitioners Dr. Gonzalez identified 12 different metabolic types Dr. Gonzalez was very “balanced” on his own scale of metabolic types Dr. Gonzalez’s grandparents were immigrants, exceptionally bright and accomplished. Mexican-Italian heritage. Ancestors helped lead the Revolution in Mexico and included accomplished musicians. Story of how Dr. Gonzalez’s grandfather almost didn’t make it through customs at Ellis Island but succeeded by playing the cello in the customs building halls. Anthropologist Margaret Mead said it takes 3 generations to create the super-accomplished person and Dr. Gonzalez was just that. 25:00 Combining the physical with the meta-physical/spiritual world The archetype of the wounded healer - physical wounds and healing can lead to spiritual awareness, healing, transformation Not only was Dr. Gonzalez incredibly bright and balanced, he was also very spiritual Dr. Gonzalez spent a lot of time with his patients and always had a Bible nearby Dr. Gonzalez grew up Catholic and became fascinated with the Bible during his first marriage He had a photographic memory and became a biblical scholar 29:00 Dr. Gonzalez’s personality and drive to develop his program Small in stature, athlete, fighter, quick and motivated, driven Part of the program is use of pancreatic enzymes Dr. Gonzalez learned about enzymes from Dr. William Kelley The enzymes are formulated in a precise way - Dr. Gonzalez worked on this for years Pancreatic enzymes go back to the end of the 19th century with a biologist (embryologist) named John Beard, DSc in Scotland Beard studied placental growth and embryonic development and theorized pancreatic enzymes might control tumor growth in the same way they control the growth of the placenta At the turn of the 20th century, pancreatic enzymes were being used with modest success Beard was forgotten about after Marie Curie’s discovery of radiation Dr. Gonzalez’s enzymes are still in production through NutriCology Dr. Gonzalez had to finance his own research Number of enzymes and frequency taken varies with the type of condition Everyone on the program does coffee enemas to help detox Dr. Gonzalez asked the Merk Manual editors why they took coffee enemas out of the manual (lack of space) Protocol uses liver and colon cleanses, some juicing Dr. Gonzalez’s widow Mary Beth is working to formalize the Gonzalez program and train doctors in the protocol Metabolic scale/typing determines which diet is used on the protocol 46:55 Balance is key Acid v. alkaline - don’t go off the scale in either direction The genius of Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. William Kelley Not possible to use same protocol for everyone because of unique metabolic types 12 different diets with 99 variations 51:24 Metabolic typing Testing and bloodwork pH Personality type Physical characteristics Ancestry Geographical location 57:05 Dr. Gonzalez’s thoughts on meat Didn’t look as much at individual (chemical) components of foods as he did using foods to bring the body back into balance Eliminate the whole food dislikes- listen to your body 1:02:15 Clinical study of the Gonzalez protocol Dr. Gonzalez worked most of his earlier career trying to find funding for his clinical trials (Nestle, Proctor and Gamble) Nestle funded a study by Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Linda L. Isaacs on pancreatic cancer and enzymes published in medical literature Encouraged by doctors at the NIH to do a clinical trial Trial took place at Columbia University over course of 10 years Dr. Gonzalez wrote a book called What Went Wrong because so many procedures weren’t followed In the end, researchers at Columbia published a paper which said the protocol didn’t work Success of the protocol often depends on the compliance of the patient Dr. Gonzalez didn’t cure everyone who walked through his doors 1:09:33 Mystery surrounding Dr. Gonzalez’s death News articles are not definitive Facts of the death (not conspiracies) are in the book Autopsy and second round of tests were performed Heart attack was ruled out Died suddenly at age 67 Not much reliable information on the internet about Dr. Gonzalez 1:13:45 Book: The Maverick MD Engaging book Readers want to know when the movie is coming out Book available on Amazon and New Spring Press Gonzalez Foundation- widow Mary Beth working to bring into print all the books Dr. Gonzalez was writing 5 books published so far 1:17:00 Picking up the torch where Dr. Gonzalez left off 1:19:30 Ryder’s first knitting project :) If you have a question or comment about this episode let us know below!! My response lately on my podcast- Eat real food and mixture of macros that balances your blood sugar, provides long lasting satiety, energy and curbs cravings... we want to be fat burners not sugar burners! If we only treat our symptoms, even if getting functional detailed labs to find out our imbalances, we only feel “good” temporarily. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and soon to be a FDN-Practitioner, I am implementing my training into my coaching program - The WHOLESTIC Method. In order to feel alive and thriving each day- we need to work on putting the pieces of the puzzle together with a combination of WHOLEIST method approach: Functional Lab Testing Nutritional Therapy Assessment Nutritional Therapy Functional Evaluation Genetic Testing assessment via DNAFit The WHOLESTIC Method Lifestyle Improvements Metabolic Typing Assessment Metabolic Efficiency Testing If we don't find answers…we should look at the WHOLE picture as lab testing and supplementation is only part of the solution. Treating the symptoms is similar to placing a band-aid on the problem- instead we should look at the WHY and work on correlating the answers. We need to put the pieces of the puzzle together- or else we continue to have symptoms downstream. We need to work north and work our way south with the use of labs, nutritional assessment, food log with symptoms, lifestyle habits and genetics. As a FDN-Practitioner and a NTP, my job as a health coach is to use all the “tools”, including functional labs, to identify healing opportunities to restore function and balance back to a client's body- “Optimal NORMAL” is their homeostasis. The secret sauce on restoring health and vitality, is a client's commitment to adopting new lifestyle behaviors, nutritional therapy and healing therapy plan. If a client is not motivated to do their homework, then we are not able to work together. In FDN as a practitioner, we coach clients with the tools to rebuild their vital and metabolic reserve while we “coach down” their contributors to “METABOLIC CHAOS” to help the client return to the land of vitality. As we work together to create an individualized plan to solve the reason a client experiences “METABOLIC CHAOS” – their symptoms ideally disappear! As FDN Practitioners, we don't treat anything specific since we don't treat the symptoms- but we treat the WHOLE body as one system and get the “engine” running back at optimal level. Healing takes time, and I know it as my healing journey has taken years to rebuild and renew myself. My client needs to have reasonable expectations as we all should learn from my errors or mistakes- there is not an easy fix or a magic pill (or supplement) that fixes you. A new you must be built with a new approach to how we live life each day! “Symptoms may be far removed from the causal factors or stressors found upstream” ~ Reed Davis, founder FDN-P As a certified FDN practitioner, we help improve the function of body systems with the right assessments including identifying internal and external stressors. The internal “HIDDEN” stressors with functional lab testing: Hormones Immune Digestion Detoxification Energy Nervous The individualized healing program for clients ideally will improve function as we remove the HIDDEN internal stressors. The lab testing we use as a FDN Practitioner will help identify dysfunction and sources of imbalance leading to METABOLIC CHAOS. As we identify the individual's healing opportunities and find the right nutrition plan with Metabolic Typing, we can implement the right protocols for success along with observations, re-evaluation and re-testing as appropriate. The lab testing packages include: self treat and send payment to lab as per directions Biohealth 205A Hormone Panel - saliva for hormones (or DUTCH test) Biohealth101 Metabolic Assessment Profile- urine for assessing protein digestion, liver detoxification and oxidative stress Biohealth Intestinal Permeability- signs and symptoms of leaky gut Biohealth 401H GI Pathogen Screen or the GI Map– stool testing for gut infection and infestation (parasites, bacteria, fungi, yeast and Biofilms) Oxford Mediator Release Test (MRT) or ELISA/ACT for identifying food sensitivities that may cause stress via inflammation and irritating the gut. Stool culture to assess pathology and dysbiosis including tri-chrome stain, stool antigens, yeast, Occult blood and H. pylori. OATS- Organic Acids Test Debbie Potts The WHOLESTIC Method Burn Fat. Almost 45% of the total cases of depression are caused by the individual's diet, which is why a dietary approach for treating depression makes total sense. This connection exists majorly due to our gut-brain axis and inflammation caused by stress, injury, disease or junk food. This is 2 of 3 audio clips from the new series on depression. In episode #3 of The Whole Circle we discuss zinc and magnesium. According to current research 85% of women do not get enough zinc in their diets and this can lead to some serious health concerns. Being zinc deficient affects your metabolism and is super important for your immune system. Naomi discusses all of this, and more, and provides easy, achievable advice on how to increase the intake of zinc in your diet. As well as discussing zinc, we also talk about magnesium and the health issues around this mineral. And again, this is an underrated mineral but one we should all know about. For example, did you know that magnesium deficiency can increase symptoms of: Depression Chronic fatigue syndrome ADHD Epilepsy Parkinson's disease Sleep problems Migraines Osteoporosis Premenstrual syndrome Asthma This is an episode you don't want to miss, Seriously we learnt so much from talking to Naomi and we are definitely going to have her back on the show to delve deeper into some of the issues we discuss. Some questions we ask: What is Zinc? How do you know if you are zinc deficient? What are some of the symptoms? Did you know that one of the signs of zinc deficiency can be ‘fussy' kids, we certainly didn't. As well as weight gain, eczema, dandruff, dry skin and so much more. Ever heard of the zinc taste test? You'll be rushing out to grab one after this podcast. What are the best foods and/or supplements to take if you are zinc deficient? What is Magnesium? How does this affect your body? Are magnesium and Epsom salts that same thing? How do Epsom salts work? Why should we take magnesium? Did you know that magnesium is fantastic for energy, nope we didn't either? For more information about zinc or magnesium testing, please see your health care professional, but as discussed, Naomi recommends to stay away from oxide as it doesn't absorb, that's way magnesium oxide is good for constipation as it stays in the bowel. Phosphate forms are natural and and very similar to what we get from food so highly bio available. Most commonly found is amino chelated forms, these are also highly bio available. Citrate forms are good to help alkalise and also absorb. More about Naomi Naomi is passionate about helping people with lifestyle and health issues using natural methods which include: western herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, iridology, homeopathy, vitamin therapy and Metabolic Typing. Today's special guest is a true pioneer in digital health and wellness technology. As the CEO and co-founder of NudgeCoach.com, Mac Gambill has created a swell of momentum in creating digital tools that are driving the change we must see in the fitness and wellness industries. Mac's company, Nudge Coach, is focused on helping health coaches turn their passion into a sustainable business through continuing education and a market-leading software platform. His platform combines data from health tracking apps with a streamlined notification and messaging system to enable coaches to better manage deeper connections with their clients. In today's show, Mac uncovers how literally anyone with the desire to lose weight and change old habits now has a more powerful way to do so with this cutting edge new technology. Changing Old Habits With New Technology Beyond the weight loss stories of people losing over 100lbs with Nudge, his company is literally changing the landscape of how coaches and trainers are working with clients; finally closing the ever-widening gap in fitness between too much knowledge and too little execution. I’ve mentioned previously on the podcast about our up and coming Digital Health Coaching groups where I’ve used Nudge to help my clients get results, and I’m excited today to have Mac share his insight and action steps to help uncover: How we can change old habits with new technology What your data says about your life Why fitness industry is fundamentally broken and how digital health can save it How coaches, nutritionists, trainers and health & wellness professionals can leverage this technology to grow In an age of over-information, the modern day lifestyle now demands more that the current fitness industry can handle. What frustrated me most as a pro trainer after working in gyms for 10 years was that I never really knew what my clients were doing in the 165 hours they weren’t in session with me. In over 10,000 sessions as a fitpro, I eventually became burnt out with my clients not getting the results they deserved to have. A New Paradigm After stretching my coaching practice to include Group Training, Corrective Exercise, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, Metabolic Typing, and getting certified in handfuls of other fitness and wellness courses, I still intuitively felt that something was missing from my toolset: Increased client accountability. The one thing that coaching and training for over a decade has taught me, is that to have knowledge is one thing, but to execute on that knowledge is another. On a higher level, the uncomfortable truth in the wellness and fitness industry today is that there is a massive gap between knowing what to do and having the system in place to actually do it. This is where Digital Health Coaching has changed the playing field. Personal Gold After seeing the power of digital health applications and devices in late 2014 during a screening of the film "Personal Gold," I drove home with the seed planted for an ultimate coaching "ah-ha" moment. On the way home that night, I thought about how the 2012 USA Olympic Women's Cycling team had won a silver medal using quantified self, digital health and mHealth. Then, a lighting bolt shot through my brain: I realized that the very same wellness technology that can help win medals for athletes has the ubiquitous power to help change poor health habits for regular people. This began a 16 month journey in searching for the "dream ecosystem" where I'd be able to coach clients using the data their bodies created. After hunting, failing, and getting knocked down, I finally found a platform called "Nudge Coach" that changed my coaching and my business forever. If you are a health coach, gym owner, fitness pro, nutritionist and this sounds like it could help grow your business and get your clients superior results, join me and Nudge for a free webinar about using digital health to grow your current practice. Martin grew up behind the Iron Curtain, in Czechoslovakia. After a short career as a Clinical Hypnotherapist Martin moved to the computer industry and worked as a trainer and as a sales professional. In later years he worked as a manager, a management consultant and information technology consultant. Martin is happily married to the mother of his two adult daughters. Soon after he received a dozen of mercury amalgam fillings as part of his introduction to modern western medicine, Martin's health started a sharp decline. Martin's documented mercury poisoning was behind his multitude of problems that neither the medical professionals nor the alternative practitioners he worked with identified as a possible source of his problems. In his quest for health, Martin explored dozens of mainstream and alternative modalities with only temporary success. Only after he decided to apply the strategic thinking skills he learned in his management consulting practice to his medical problems he was able to turn the tide and begin reversing his health problems. In the process of discovery he has learned most of what a naturopathic doctor would learn at school - anatomy and physiology, hormonal function, nutrition and detoxification, exercise and emotional therapies. Martin continues his study to this day in order to improve his ability to advise the customers of Life Enthusiast in his capacity as personal coach and Metabolic Typing Advisor. Martin is the CEO of Life Enthusiast, an on-line source of natural solutions for your health and wellness. Thanks for listening, - David Benjamin HealthyWildAndFree.com

A massive recall of beef products has consumers questioning the safety of their hamburgers and looking for alternatives. “We’ve sold all the grass-fed beef we can produce right through to January,” said Richmond farmer Harold Steves. “My emails and phone have been going non-stop since this started.” “People are getting a real education about where their beef comes from since this recall started,” said Steves, who is also a Richmond city councillor. “They were fed up with feedlot beef before and now they just don’t want it.” Read more: http://www.vancouversun.com/health/Local+grass+beef+surging+popularity+amid+coli+scare/7365568/story.html#ixzz297oUSNeq Martin talks about why you should think twice before arbitrarily dropping meat from your diet. Acid-Base or pH balance of your fluids is still the bottom line in all the following determinations. It is not known why yet, in physiological terms, but some people just don't do well on alkalinizing diets. Metabolic typing provides a good answer to this question and many others. http://www.life-enthusiast.com/index/Education/Pleomorphism/Metabolic_Typing The term biochemical individuality was coined by the biochemist Dr. Roger Williams. George Watson's book Nutrition and Your Mind: The Psychochemical Response, developed a protocol for assessing the health of individuals suffering from 'mental imbalances', based on the acidity or alkalinity of their venous blood. William L. Wolcott in 1983 showed that either the Oxidative or Autonomic control system determined a person's response to acid or alkaline foods. Francis M. Pottenger, M.D. in the 1930s and 1940s developed the relationship of nutrition to the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system which are delineated in his book, Symposium of Visceral Disease and Vincent who developed the BTA machine, Royal Lee who started Standard Process, and Dr. Donald Kelly, D.D.S. Together these gentlemen developed Metabolic Typing. As a Certified Metabolic Typing® Advisor I will be able to assist you with the determination of your Metabolic Type® and with the interpretation of the results. I will also be able to assist you with the implementation of the changes. You will soon be seeing the positive effects of matching your food intake with your physiological needs. http://life-enthusiast.com/usa/metabolic-typing-advanced-test-p-745.html
Martin shares Metabolic Typing and how food immediately affects your mindset. Discover your Metabolic Type: http://life-enthusiast.com/usa/metabolic-typing-advanced-test-p-745.html Some foods, such as meat or sweet and acid foods, are good for certain people - and for these are not "problem" foods. On others, their effects are adverse. In order to gain a better understanding of this phenomenon and a deeper insight into the food-related causes of diseases, it is helpful to take a closer look at our metabolism. Problems arise when the tension-relaxation cycle is not centered but remains one-sided. During work there may be too much tension, while the following rest period does not result in complete relaxation. If this condition becomes chronic, also other tension-related symptoms may develop, such as high blood pressure or restlessness. To bring the body back into balance, remedies with a PNS influence may be applied, such as relaxation exercises, a vegetarian diet or magnesium supplements. On the other hand, if the body generally is too relaxed, too weak and soft for the daily tasks, and mind and emotions cannot be aroused, then tension-producing SNS influences may be applied, such as using flesh foods or calcium supplements. Healthexcel System of Metabolic Typing® In its complete form, The Healthexcel System of Metabolic Typing® analyzes 11 Fundamental Homeostatic Controls (FHC) to determine and define one's Metabolic Type®. These Fundamental Homeostatic Controls are: Autonomic Nervous System (NeuroEndocrine-Sympathetic/Balanced/Parasympathetic), CarboOxidative (Fast/Slow/Mixed Oxidation), Steroidal Hormone Balance (Pregnenolone/DHEA/Androgens/Estrogens/Progesterone/Cortisol), Neurotransmitter Balance (Excitatory/Inhibitory), LipoOxidative (Anabolic/Catabolic), Electrolyte (Stress/Insufficiency), Acid/Alkaline (6 different kinds of imbalances), Endocrine Type, Blood Type, Constitutional Type, Prostaglandin Balance. This Metabolic Typing® program can be expanded to include deeper levels of complexity of metabolic individuality: Our Metabolic Typing® Testing Questionnaire is the most accurate method of determining Metabolic Types® available in the world today. It is the result of an evolutionary process spanning nearly 30 years and is based on the input of thousands of practitioners around the world and hundreds of thousands of users.

Robert says: G'day Ben I have a question for the podcast. I wanted to know what your thoughts are on the Recovery Pump compression boots, also its competitor NormaTec also as a comparison. Their claims seem to be supported and they do what they claim to do from the literature I have read. Have you tried them? What would the effect of the recovery pump be when treating peroneal synovitis? Or other tendinopathies? Would you recommend this as a recovery modality with other traditional methods such as ice baths, NSAID's etc. Kathryn asks: I've read about recent research that found that swishing a mouthful of carbohydrate solution and then spitting it out rather than swallowing was effective in providing energy for a workout. Would this be an effective way to train in a fasted state occasionally, as Ben recommends, without the negative effects of inadequate fueling? I'm someone that doesn't tend to do well without food before my am workouts, even easy recovery type activity but I would like to try some fasted workouts occasionally. Rob asks: How many calories are you really burning when it is 10 degrees out. If I run 13 miles and my little Garmin says I have burned 1300 calories, how much does the cold, and my body dealing with the cold, add to the equation? Anton asks: I was wondering if there was ever a study done about inter-relationships of the amount of weight opposing muscle groups can lift. What I mean by that is: if I can bench press 225 10x should my shoulders be strong enough to handle say lateral raises with 35lbs 10x or shoulder presses with 130lbs 10x so on and so forth. Or be able to do 10 perfect form underhand pull ups (body weight of 210) and that would be equal to curling say 110lbs 10x? Jason asks: I developed dark circles under my eyes for the first time in my life in 2004 during a time of heavy work stress and little sleep. When I was able to return to a healthier lifestyle the dark circles persisted. Only later did I make the connection that I had also started drinking coffee during that same time period. I have been able to rule out caffeine as the cause by consuming sources of caffeine while abstaining from coffee, and I don't experience the raccoon eyes. Many sources refer to allergies as a common source of dark circles, but I have not found any sources referring to coffee as a possible allergen. Any ideas if coffee could cause an allergic reaction? If so, other than staying away from coffee, are there any other related food or beverage sources that I should also avoid? Love the podcast, keep up the good work and thank you very much. Brad asks: Always love the podcasts, and thanks for all the help you give. When I was in high school, I ran a winter race in zero degree windchill, and stupidly didn't wear gloves. I'm pretty sure I had what I now know to be second degree frostbite, but never saw a doctor about it. Now, ten years later, I still get tear-inducingly painful cold hands very easily, and have to wear gloves at pretty much all times outdoors except for the summer months. I've looked for alternative explanations, and my symptoms don't seem to match up with Raynaud's. Is this normal for a post-frostbite victim, and are there ways to reverse the effects? ~ In my response to Brad, I mention Sweet Sweat at www.sweetsweat.com Anonymous Podcast Fan writes: Often, you cover how to increase libido. How about the other side of the coin? Are there ways to decrease libido without negatively impacting health or fitness? Angie asks: I'm interested in knowing more about the link between hormone imbalances and fat stored in particular parts of the body. I am currently working on the reduction of fat in general through a combination of Metabolic Typing, a healthy diet and exercise however i seem to have more fat around the back of my upper arms down to my elbow compared to other parts of my body and wondered if there were any truth in some of the articles i have read regarding specific hormone imbalances causing fat to be stored in particular areas of the body and if you can give any advice whether from a hormone or exercise perspective which i can incorporate into my existing routine (heavy weights/interval training mainly). Huge thanks as always for all the amazing content you put out every day! ~ In my response to Angie, I mention estrogen dominance symptoms. Brian wrote: A friend told me about the benefits of MATCHA TEA for weight loss and general health benefits, which peaked my interest. I brew green tea daily from loose tea leaves, and have decided to make the switch to Match Tea. I used MATCHATEASOURCE.COM to purchase the tea. The site touts the many benefits of Matcha Tea. I googled your website for matcha and there were zero hits. What do you know about the benefits of matcha and would you recommend this stuff as part of a healthy nutritional plan. I'm interested in lowering my weight and keeping it down below 200lbs. My metabolic typing diet pegs me as a mixed type. My nutrition, when I'm disciplined, is whole, natural foods, about 35% protein, 40% fats and 25% carbs. Vegetables and fish are a common dinner. My morning meal is generally steal cut oats or quinoa with Heed2 30. My daily supplements include: Enerprime, Vitamin D nano spray, Magnesium oil (Ancient Minerals), fish oil (pharmac), Oil of Oregano, and Udo's 3-6-9 Oil. Will Matcha be that kick-ass metabolism boost I'm looking for? Adam asks: I was wondering if you could comment on the accuracy of this article about how eating more vegetables can make you look better. Brock interjects:What would you ideally recommend as a good Half Marathon race strategy? Metabolic Typing is the scientific methodology for customized nutrition and is based on the fact that there is no universally healthy diet that is right for all people. Anyone can use Metabolic Typing to find out exactly which foods are good for their health, and those that are not. Metabolic Typing also identifies nutritional supplements that will make you as healthy as you can be and will keep you from wasting your money on those that would make you tired and sick. http://life-enthusiast.com/usa/metabolic-typing-advanced-test-p-745.html?tab=reviews Testimonial: "Martin, Your counsel has been more comprehensive than my 7-year journey with varied health professionals, including MDs with a holistic approach and world-renown holistic healers. Jess asks: I would never (ever!) use the Sodastream to make – well, soda – but I keep seeing it in stores and wonder if it might be a more economical option to quench my carbonated water thirst, as opposed to purchasing bottles of Pellegrino. Can you think of any ways in which this device may be less optimal for one's health than bottled sparkling water? Or is it pretty much par for the course? Billy asks: I am a hard gainer currently @ 168 and would like to get up to 185lbs. My resting metabolic rate is 2700 calories. What is the best approach and what are the best foods to eat to gain weight in a timely fashion. baldzach asks via Twitter: @bengreenfield After exrciz you can eat what you want, sort of. How long does this effect last, what is the curve of its efficacy? Graeme asks: I've been looking at gluten free bread options and was wondering what your opinion was on these breads and whether any if them had other issues other than gluten. I'm aware that toasting linseed bread has potential issues but no other view on others. Also, what is your opinion on Chyawanprash, how should I use it and is it good for a fast oxidizer? Justin asks: My question is about expired supplements. Do powdered supplements such as whey protein or glutamine actually expire or is there a date on them because of food regulations? What about capsule supplements such as beta alanine or kre-alkaline? Wenzel asks: What advantages/ disadvantages to have a daily intake of "Serrapeptase" in recovery, athletic performance, protein absorption, etc? I'm hearing an increase of people at the gym talking about it and how they are able to recover quicker to have another hard workout the following day. Daniel asks: What is the macronutrient composition set in grams per kg body weight for an average person (not a for sport maniac) trying to shed a few pounds (at moderate pace like max 0.5kg/week)? Is there any scientifically validated rule out there telling us how much % of kcal intake we should allocate per meal (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, diner). The same question goes for the corresponding macronutrient composition breakdown per meal. Michael asks: I think I have posterior shin splints that were caused by a long run that I did that I wasn't ready for. What is weird to me is that no matter if I run or not they still hurt the same. I have done a half-marathon and 5k since I have gotten injured and they didn't give me any trouble. I can do training runs, but the pain can be a little uncomfortable. I have heard you recommend topical magnesium on your podcast before as a natural anti-inflammatory and was wondering if that might be helpful in my case. Also, if you have any other recovery advise please let me know. Thanks Tony asks: I'm struggling to find an easily bought dairy free/ soy free milk alternative in the UK. You really are spoilt in the US for choice. Rice milk I find high in sugar in the UK. Could you check the ingredient list on Kara dairy free coconut based milk replacement and see if you think it's a healthy option. Here is the website: www.karadairyfree.com/ Glen asks: My passion is bodybuilding, the natural way. Saw on your pacific fit site that you have competed in bodybuilding and want your recommendations for my 1st competition in the buckeye natural contest in april 2011. What is your opinion, thoughts, comments on the bod pod accuracies and how it relates to calipers? Anonymous asks: I have had low testosterone for a number of year now stemming from my eating disorder. I recently had my levels tested and here were my results: Testosterone: 95 FSH: 5.2 UH: 1.8 My doctor just sent me this print out, however, and didn't discuss what these numbers mean. Could you help me understand what they mean and how low they are? I know I've asked before, but do you think these results stem from having too low a body fat, too low a body weight, over-training, or something else entirely? I have definitely noticed higher levels when body weight was higher and I had more muscle on me. Any tips for increasing my overall levels? Mike asks: Are you familiar with Nutritional Response Testing, and if so what are your thoughts on it? Do you have a question for Ben?
