Accepting difficult feelings like anger or irritation can help us keep our cool, feel better overall, and find calm on the other side. Link to episode transcript: https://tinyurl.com/n6hm5yhz How to Do This Practice: Begin the practice by settling your mind and body. Notice your breath and any sensations that arise in your body, Shift your attention away from your body, recalling an instance where you felt mildly irritated or frustrated. Give yourself a few moments to fully feel this emotion.  Notice any physical sensations that arise. Then, release that memory, refocusing your attention on the body.  Allow these sensations to shift and move, giving them the space to change and observing them with a sense of curiosity and kindness. This is a replay of a popular episode in recent years which explores the power of neuroplasticity, the importance of understanding our brain's biology, and the potential for creating positive change. Leigh E. Richardson has studied human behavior for over 30 years. Her initial focus was on organizational behavior then shifted to human behavior in 2003 after her son had a traumatic brain injury. Leigh has been in the ICU twice with brain injury and all of this fueled her need to understand how the brain works or why it doesn't work. She can relate to brain dysregulation on a very personal level and she visualized what could be done for many others like her. Leigh is the founder and clinical director of The Brain Performance Center, utilizing her MBA, MS, Counseling, and board certifications to offer state-of-the-art solutions for “brain problems.” She is currently taking her PhD in Psychology. As a brain health expert, she regularly contributes to radio and television stations across the nation. Whether it is anxiety, ADHD, depression, insomnia, or brain injury, Leigh's understanding of the brain and the different methodologies that can be used to organically change the brain is immense. And more importantly, they will provide the right solution for the problem. Leigh is the author of Turn Your Brain On – To Get Your Game On, an international speaker, and a popular syndicated radio host. Leigh enjoys educating the general public on how the lifestyle choices and environmental factors impact brain health and the physiology and psychology of your mental state. She has a unique ability to connect with people, understand their situation, and win their trust. Leigh gets inspiration from her friends, family, and clients. It is the positive change that she sees in others that motivates her to continue to learn. She just recently converted her upstairs office to an in-home art studio where she paints as a way to explore her creativity. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Leigh's personal history with brain injuries, both in her son who was struck by a car and in herself Leigh's background and expertise in brain performance How the stigma of mental health in the workplace is changing The impact of social media on mental health Success stories and the changing narrative of mental health Sleep and its importance for a healthy brain Links Mentioned in This Episode: Website | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Linked In

f you're looking to improve your productivity, business plans, or even your mental health, you'll want to tune into today's episode where I share how I constantly generate ways for my business to tell stories and let my brain “off the leash.” You can make intentional space for your brain to do what it does best: generate new ideas out of seemingly unrelated things.  You may be thinking “I don't have ideas. Creativity is not my forte.” If you've been following the show, you'll know that EVERYONE is a natural storyteller; it's outside obstacles that get in the way of unlocking that new level in your mind. Understand that trying to force your brain to come out with an idea by a certain deadline will CRUSH your creativity. This is why people's best ideas come out of the shower.  Learn today to create a clutter free space in your brain; it needs the breathing space to be bored. Worry less about optimizing every moment of your time for productivity and instead practice two simple, easy steps with me to become a creative idea-pumping, super brain machine. Be brave enough to try it for two weeks, and watch your thought process transform.   3 Key Takeaways Stop saying creativity isn't your forte. EVERYONE is a natural storyteller and can be taught to use it.  Taking mental space will not only improve the business but also can help to heal personal anxiety.  Be brave enough to try taking 30 minutes out of two days to meditate or free associate. You'll be amazed at the results. Get the full show notes and more information here:  https://storiedcoaching.com/how-to-turn-your…ive-idea-machine

How do you turn your brain back on? Do you feel your brain is getting older? Senior moments coming early or feel absent-minded? It’s quite common these days for a lot of people to not have focus, unable to maintain concentration, and lack mental energy. It’s no surprise that we’re overloaded, distracted, and overstimulated that it’s easy to feel like your mind is fleeting. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Even with age, your brain doesn’t have to decline. It can get better, and you can “turn it back on.” To talk about this topic, I have a very special guest today. He’s a dear friend of mine, Dave Asprey. He is the founder of Bulletproof and author of New York Times bestseller, The Bulletproof Diet, and his new book, Super Human. He is a Silicon Valley investor and technology entrepreneur who spent two decades hack his own biology. In this episode, he will share some of his tips (you may not hear of before) to turn your brain back on. ** Do you want to stay up to date with every new episode and get my brand new Kwik Brain Accelerator Program? Chester was growing up having a good memory but he still finds ways to improve it. He spent time doing a lot of research and experiments with many different techniques until he found the best techniques that work for him. To him, it's important to improve your memory despite living in a high technology era where Mr. Google exists. Leave the mindset that you can Google anything and you don't need to sharpen your mind. The average person out there is losing their ability to remember or can't remember anything at all. So being a champion in memory will set yourself apart from other professionals and gives you very impressive feedback. There are so many applications and stuff that can benefit you in so many ways. Remembering people's names and things about them helps you build a better business, strong personal relationships, and rapport. Try to apply visualization, involve additional senses as you can, and activates more areas in your mind. Try to do a daily or weekly memory routine consistently - it's the key. Memory is a fundamental part of learning. The more knowledge you have, the more and formed decisions you can make. Your knowledge bank helps you to make more and form better decisions!   Some Questions I Ask: How did you fall into becoming a memory expert? (00:57) How did you deliver the importance of sharpening the mind to individuals? (02:42) What are some of the tools that are effective for average people to help them improve their mind? (06:39) How do you get better at remembering names and engraving that in your brain? (23:36) How did you apply your memory skills to investment practices? (29:14) Do you have a daily memory routine or exercise? (35:24) Based on your studies, what are those things that extend memory span or lifespan and avoid brain diseases? (38:20) In This Episode, You Will Learn: How improving your mind and memory skills can really benefit you in all areas of life. (03:18) 3 main principles that help you easily remember things. (07:07) Wordlist memory game - the story method. (14:09) 4 steps to easily remember people's names. (24:25) Your likability factor - how to improve it. (27:48) Key to having a better memory. (36:54) Cognitive Reserve - what does it mean. (39:25) Quotes: “The sharper the mind, the more successful, the more intentional we are.” “Turning what you want to remember into something you can see in your mind that is huge.” “The more senses you involved it's easier to remember.” “There's nothing different at all about my brain compared to everyone else is.” “Anybody out there is capable of doing so much more with their memory, it's just the right technique and a little bit of practice.” “Likability factor is going to affect your success.” “The more knowledge you have, the more and formed decisions you can make.” “Memory is a fundamental of learning.” “Your knowledge bank helps you to make more and form better decisions.” “Consistency is key.” Resources Mentioned: How to Win Friends and Influence People book by Dale Carnegie Connect with Chester Santos on: Website LinkedIn YouTube Twitter Facebook The Memory School
