We've all been there: you're at a business conference or a dinner. You get introduced to a handful of people, you introduce yourself, you hear their names, and within two minutes, you completely forget all of them. One person who hasn't had this problem for years is Chester Santos. Chester won the US Memory Championship over a decade ago and has spent the last 15 years training individuals, business owners, and executives how to use simple tips and strategies to remember names, information, and even entire presentations without notes. You don't need any innate talent for memorization to be great at it - you simply need to spend a little bit of time training this muscle. Today, Chester joins the podcast to share and demonstrate tactics you can use right now to improve your mind and your memory. In this podcast interview, you'll learn: Why anyone can develop a powerful memory with practice - and why Chester says he was merely “above average” when he first learned about the US Memory Championship. The proven framework Chester uses to memorize over 200 names in a matter of minutes when he walks into a room - among many other things. The three principles that make every memorization technique work. How our dependency on digital tools affects our memory and creates a massive business opportunity for people with memory skills. How Chester has pivoted his business (and his techniques) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In ancient times the ability to memorize was a considered a magical skill --sometimes even thought of as mystical and it was essential to the passing down of stories, legends, history, and taboos and laws. It was used as a basis for social and economic development. Today, the Internet seems to be making memorization irrelevant. What we don't remember, we look up. Many schools have also generally abandoned requiring students to memorize poems, famous speeches, math tables, and all sorts of academic material that used to be ingrained in the curriculum. The question is -Is technology making us mentally lazy and if so how does that affect us in our business and private lives?' Memorization is a discipline of the mind and our guest on this episode believes we should exercise our memory more than we do. After 8 months of virtual working we are repeating this interview to exercise our brains.

We’ve all been there: you’re at a business conference or a dinner. You get introduced to a handful of people, you introduce yourself, you hear their names, and within two minutes, you completely forget all of them. One person who hasn’t had this problem for years is Chester Santos. Chester won the US Memory Championship over a decade ago and has spent the last 15 years training individuals, business owners, and executives how to use simple tips and strategies to remember names, information, and even entire presentations without notes. You don’t need any innate talent for memorization to be great at it - you simply need to spend a little bit of time training this muscle. Today, Chester joins the podcast to share and demonstrate tactics you can use right now to improve your mind and your memory. In this podcast interview, you’ll learn: Why anyone can develop a powerful memory with practice - and why Chester says he was merely “above average” when he first learned about the US Memory Championship. Our guest also believes that not only should we exercise our memory but he helps people learn how to do this.

After two awful crashes in a handful of months, Boeing’s most popular airplane is grounded. This is a story I know well, having personally toured the amazing Boeing facility in Seattle just a couple years ago. Today I talk about why there’s too much risk surrounding the stock right now. But if you want to invest in the space… I tell you what to buy instead. A listener sets me up for a rant by asking about the college admissions scandal. While I do go on a bit of a rant, “Operation Varsity Blues” really shouldn’t surprise anyone. And once I get started, I share my opinion on some other screwed up topics… all for your listening pleasure. I’m getting a lot of great feedback for our last Wall Street Unplugged guest, former U.S. Memory Champion, Chester Santos. If you haven’t already listened to the interview, you don’t want to miss it. Keep your questions and suggestions coming as we continue to build our amazing listener network.
I have an incredible first-time guest for you today… Chester Santos [15:38] is a … known as “The International Man of Memory.” Chester travels all over the world, speaking to institutions and businesses on how to improve memory. While you may not have perfect recall of all Kentucky Derby results since 1875 (like he does)… you can still learn how a better memory will help you get ahead—no matter your profession… This memory master even shares an example of how to improve your own memory in real time… Follow along, and see if you can pass the test! Today, instead of a rant, I share a personal story with you. I know there are millions of people with similar stories… And it even relates in a way to markets and investments. In my educational segment [43:55], I explain how screwed up our healthcare system is. And why it’s time to have some exposure to this industry. I throw a lot of figures at you, but stay with me. It’s critical to understand the risks involved with regard to our economy and stock market.
