The Arsenal Opinion - by Le Grove

In this week's Dugout, Jacob Hawley sits down with YouTuber, actor, and writer Alex Moneypenny for a wide-ranging chat that moves from the Emirates media box to the London theatre stage. The two talk Arsenal from every angle — the view from behind the goal at the Man City game, why Victor Gyökeres divides the fanbase, and how Mikel Marino might have shifted the title race if you ran the season in an AI sim. They debate open-play goals, Odegaard's influence, Arteta's tactical tweaks, and the fine margins separating “functioning at 60 percent” from a title-winning 100 percent. Beyond tactics, Alex opens up about pivoting from acting to writing, staging his own musical (“about a woman who thinks the Earth is flat”), and what it's like to build creative work from scratch — on stage and on YouTube. Smart football talk, creative energy, and a few laughs about coping with Arsenal trauma in the stands — it's a grounded, honest Dugout you'll want to play through twice. A good week to have a bad week? Probably. But for FPL managers who started any of Joe Rodon, Bryan Mbeumo or 23 point scoring Micky Van De Ven it was probably a good week. Suj and James even managed to sell one of the few other popular players who hit a double digit return, in Pedro Porro, who assisted one of Van De Ven's two in Tottenham's 3-0 win at Everton. But was the win as good as the scoreline suggests? All the games reviewed as the three promoted clubs all won, struggling West and Wolves were two of those on the wrong end of those results, while Chelsea were surprisingly beaten by high flying Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool lost again, this time at Brentford, and Manchester City were beaten too at Aston Villa, whilst Arsenal extended their lead with victory over Crystal Palace. Eagles assets will be popular this week, as will again Arsenal players, and Mbeumo will also be popular having scored twice in Manchester United's victory against Brighton which means they've now won three in a row. The world of Spanish football was stunned on Tuesday night to hear of the news that the Miami match between Villarreal and Barcelona has been cancelled.Relevant, the sponsoring company organising the match, and LaLiga both released statements expressing their disappointment at the need to cancel, citing the “uncertainty generated in Spain”. It seems apparent that the AFE protests from last weekend certainly had a timely effect. In this additional bonus podcast, we bring you all the news, reaction and fallout. Matt Clark (@MattClark_08) convenes Paco Polit (@pacopolitENG), Ben Sully (@SullyBen), Román De Arquer (@Aeroslavee) and Louis Scattergood (@louiscxtt) to analyse the situation and answer the myriad questions this dramatic day has raised. How embarrassing is this for Javier Tebas? Should he resign? Is the Miami plan now dead in the water? What about Barcelona and Joan Laporta, who was so confident and bullish only hours earlier on Tuesday? Román gives his perspective. As for Villarreal, they are furious about the decision and the way they feel sidelined from the process. The news broke during their Champions League match with Manchester City, leaving CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles to make a hasty exit from the Directors' box. Louis offers his take on the situation as a whole and the Villarreal angle. For more, read Christian Poulsen's piece below, available to paid subscribers:LaLiga's Miami dream collapses as Villarreal–Barcelona returns homeRemember, you can subscribe at lllonline.substack.com to get ALL of our content, including comprehensive coverage of El Clásico this weekend!
