Climbing the 3,000-foot vertical rock El Capitan may sound like an extreme sport to most people, but for Ken Yager, it's a way to relax and be centered. “I get a focus up there like I've never had before,” said Yager, who had his first attempt at the age of 13, and eventually succeeded in 1977, when he was 18 years old. For decades after, he kept climbing and coaching the younger generation. Meanwhile, he established a climbing museum in Mariposa and an exhibit in Yosemite, as well as initiated and led a famous cleaning effort in Yosemite National Park. “What I really like about it is that this energy that builds up as it goes, everybody's feeling really good about cleaning the park. ... It's one of the few times now—there's a lot of animosity and a lot of kind of a split country right now, but this event seems to bring everybody together,” Yager said. Today, Yager will talk about his climbing career and some of the most unforgettable experiences he had while hanging on the cliff, as well as his effort in promoting the sport and preserving its history. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Episode 115 Doe ID 'Rock Collection John Doe' Captain Everett Leland Yager A strange mystery unfolded after a boy in Arizona inherited a rock collection from his grandfather in 2002. The boy's mother while looking through the collection found something disturbing; something she knew was not a rock. It was a partial human jawbone containing several teeth. She contacted the Yavapai County Sheriff's office about the disturbing find. It was theorized at first that the remains could have come from a nearby Native American burial grounds, but they soon discounted that theory, and without any kind of clues to go on, they dubbed the remains 'Rock Collection John Doe'. In 2023, The Ramapo College of New Jersey's Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center, decided to take on identifying the remains. They were successful; the remains belonged to a Captain Everett Leland Yager. There was just one problem, Captain Yager had died in plane crash in California in 1951, and he was laid to rest in his home state of Missouri. The identification of the Captain's remains solved one mystery, but opened up another; how did Captain Yager's jawbone wind up in Arizona decades after he was laid to rest in another state? After more than two decades, 'Rock Collection John Doe' finally has his name back; it's Captain Everett Leland Yager, and this is his story. In this episode, Therese Markow, Dr. Jerald Kay, and Dr. Joel Yager discuss the various forms of ambition. They discuss lack of ambition, mismatched ambition, and delve into some of the potential negative consequences of Machiavellian ambition and how to deal with malignant narcissists. Key Takeaways: There are biological underpinnings to ambition, but much of what we know about ambition is built on repeated interactions as children. Not everyone who is Machiavellian is ambitious. Not everyone who is ambitious is Machiavellian. But when you have people who have dark triad characteristics it can mean trouble for those around them. There are levels of narcissism. Some are treatable. The last division of severe narcissistic personality is called malignant personality disorder and is relatively untreatable. "It's both nature and nurture. We know ambition runs in families. And we know kids that are adopted into families with ambitious parents turn out to be more ambitious than if they weren't adopted into those kinds of families." — Dr. Joel Yager Episode References: https://journals.lww.com/jonmd/fulltext/2023/04000/ambition_and_its_psychopathologies.1.aspx Connect with Jerald & Joel: Dr. Jerald Kay Professional Bio: https://people.wright.edu/jerald.kay Dr. Joel Yager Professional Bio: https://som.cuanschutz.edu/Profiles/Faculty/Profile/1789 Email Dr. Jerald Kay: jerald.kay@wright.edu Email Dr. Joel Yager: joel.yager@cuanschutz.edu Connect with Therese: Website: www.criticallyspeaking.net Threads: @critically_speaking Email: theresemarkow@criticallyspeaking.net Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Lots of news in the NHL this week, and not a lot of it is good...buckle up! Tune in as we begin by discussing the Detroit Red Wings & their loss to Florida, including Simon Edvinsson towering over Matthew Tkachuk (& Yzerman's vision to build a giant blue line with Seider, Edvinsson, Wallinder, & others), Pius Suter staying hot, & Dylan Larkin's sneaky goal (3:45). Next, their shootout win over St. Louis, including Filip Zadina breaking through, Alex Chiasson with another net-front PPG, Lucas Raymond's shootout winner - as well as the "Connor Bedard" NHL Draft Lottery standings & why the "tank" matters more for position with Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson, & others in the mix (10:40). Next, we take a look at another NHL Draft Prospect Profile that may be relevant to Hockeytown: Brayden Yager out of the WHL. Can the elite shooting forward be a fit for Lalonde's Red Wings? Does Yzerman project him to be a center (21:10)? With the Adidas NHL jersey deal set to expire in 2024, Fanatics has stepped in with a 10 year deal with the league - tune in to hear us discuss (emphatically) why hockey fans everywhere are incensed at this news (31:20). Finally, with the Ohtani vs. Trout showdown in the World Baseball classic, we discuss what Gary Bettman & the NHL is missing out on by not having their players in an international best-on-best tournament like the Olympics or World Cup of Hockey. When will we see McDavid vs. Matthews (44:40)? Plus, some Red Wings news as Red Savage becomes a Michigan State Spartan and Jon McDonald signs with Detroit out of the NCAA (59:05) before taking your questions during Overtime (1:00:57) - enjoy!
