Our preconceived notions, biases, and the relentless noise of our own inner monologue often serve as formidable barriers, blocking the path to genuine understanding. As exciting as it is for a post to garner so much attention, it speaks to a larger issue that so clearly resonates with many in today's workplace. Are you stuck? The brain's resistance, also known as the "comfort zone," refers to the natural tendency of the brain to seek familiar, safe, and easy situations while avoiding new challenges or experiences that may be uncomfortable or stressful. While this instinct can serve a protective function, it can also limit personal growth, learning, and achievement. A moment of reflection... What one area are you resisting? • Switching jobs? • Ending a relationship? • Changing behavior? • Stopping the need to please? • Going after big dreams? Overcoming the brain's resistance is important to achieving greater success, expanding your skill set, developing confidence, and growing as an individual and professional. This week on The Coffee with Rhonda Show, we welcome Dr. Haley Nelson joins us to talk more about the neuroscience of change. Mireille Toulekima, Roz Jones, and I look forward to diving into this one. What's in your cup? Workplace stress is an epidemic that costs companies an estimated $300 Billion annually in the US alone. Are we simply destined to deal with negative stress at work, or is there something we can do? Can we find calm without ourselves, even in chaotic situations? I'm interested in breaking this all down with this week's special guest Nicholas Clay. Join us for this week's discussion on The Coffee with Rhonda Show. Our super caffeinated co-hosts are here for it! What's in your cup? He has healed hurtful triggers and released stored negative energy that used to cause uncomfortable lows. In October 2020, Nicholas acquired his first two coaching clients and began to test the tools and understanding of mindfulness he used to heal his mind with others. In the time since, his coaching practice has continued to grow, and the results with his clients have included the relief of anxiety, overthinking, and an increase in clear mental focus. Nicholas's goal is to continue growing his practice and skillset as he strives to work with high performers such as CEOs, Athletes, Musical Artists, and other individuals who strive to get the most out of their minds. #stress #mindfulness #workplacestress #selfawareness #stressmanagement Visit our website to learn more about leadership coaching, development and training: https://ATGLeadership.com

Their profiles are shorter, and “even when they had similar jobs and skill levels, women would still include 11% less of their skills than men on their profiles.” Yet, in another article on Forbes, they state, "self-promotion is also an effective counterbalance to gender bias." By not sharing their achievements, women may be handing their seats at the table to someone else. There is another side of knowing that can elicit several emotions, including discomfort, shame, and fear. When these feelings begin to surface, the human brain goes to work. Its primary function is to protect you. Fear and discomfort are seen as threats that try to suppress the knowing. Yet, even in the deep recesses, you know. Effective Communication Skills - The Art of Leading YOU - Epi 62

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 23, 2022 67:28

In recent studies, 86% of employees and executives cite the lack of effective collaboration and communication as the main causes of workplace failures. We all communicate every day. Yet, somehow effective communication that can be measured by results can feel overwhelming and elusive. Having a leadership title does not automatically improve your communication. The improvement only comes through intentional reflection and deeper learning. But, who has time for that? This week on The Coffee with Rhonda Show, let's discuss effective communication. What is it and how can we lead ourselves to better communication? Joining Roz Jones, Mireille Toulekima, and myself at the coffee table is Special Guest Michael Wader. About Michael: "Every day, 1000's of COMPETENT technicians, administrators, and service providers are promoted into leadership roles, and they fail, and it is not their fault. They become INCOMPETENT leaders because no one taught them how to lead themselves first and then lead teams successfully. Continuous improvement is not just for processes – it is for Leaders too. The adjectives you use to describe a problem will be repeated by your workers. The attitude you demonstrate about needed changes will be repeated by your followers. STOP and think – am I leading by example and do I really buy into my own actions. How can you expect to lead others successfully if you cannot lead yourself first? This is the place successful leadership begins, the basics, the fundamentals of looking into the mirror each day and liking what we see. It starts with believing in ourselves first.” Connect with Michael: website: www.michaelwader.com Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm5IwBZrR5D6CexFDMpTa5A LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-wader-a57b192b/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/michael.wader.568/   “LEADERSHIP ABOVE THE GRIND™ (LATG) and The mentoring and coaching ACADEMY make it possible to reach YOUR LEADERS with the TOP-RATED, CULTURE-SHIFTING support they need to do their best work  – AND ALL THAT THAT IMPLIES – amid new and ever-shifting business realities.
