Allora i padri, chiamiamoli "padri"...».

The Fed's nearing rate peak and evidence of a turning US economy should revive the bearish view of the US dollar in 2H. I hit the “easy” button earlier this year. I say this not as an excuse but as a wake-up call for myself. It was May of this year and we had an incredible group of women join our Thought Leader Academy - and I couldn't help but notice that almost all of them looked like me (white). This is in no way to discount how much I've enjoyed having each of them in the program, seeing their progress, and being incredibly proud and excited to see how they're going to make positive changes in their communities and industries. And yet I also recognized that something was lost by not having a diversity of races and backgrounds in our program because I know how much we learn from each other's experiences, perspectives, and ideas. At our team meeting that month, our executive assistant Solita Roberts pointed this out. I knew without reservation that I was responsible for this. I wanted to make sure I was doing what I should be doing to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment and to show up in the places where the women don't all look like me. This is a very important and powerful conversation Solita and I have about: Why it was easy for me to hit the “easy” button for where I showed up in the first half of this year - and the results that led to My concerns about not wanting to be seen as a “white savior” parachuting into other groups Solita's suggestions on how to show up in communities to empower them My 3 big takeaways: self-awareness; intentionality; and collective effort About My Guest: Solita Roberts is the creator of Style To Impact, an image consulting company that advises Women of Color and entrepreneurs on how to transform their image and style to authentically reflect their individuality and confidence. Focus on figuring out who you are and then determine how you can communicate who you are through your clothes. What are the different style personalities/classifications that we can use to try to define our style? Classic Creative Casual Sexy Dramatic What are the different body type classifications? There are generally 3 areas where women tend to carry their weight, in their bust, their waist or their hips. Determine where you carry the majority of your weight to figure out the general shape/type of your body. What are some tips for dressing each body type? Focus on how to disguise or balance out the areas of your body where you carry the most weight or that you want to draw the most attention to. For example, if you carry most of your weight in your waist (around your middle), you may want to consider wearing a top or jacket with shoulder pads or puffy sleeves to draw attention away from your middle to your shoulders and to balance out the proportions of your body. Is black the most slimming color that you can wear? No, color does not determine how your shape looks. How a garment fits including the material and cut of the fabric is the most significant factor in determining how your shape looks. How do you elevate your wardrobe? Once you have determined your style personality, find brands and stores that fit your style personality even if those brands are out of your current budget. If those brands fall outside of your current budget, determine how you can shift your spending habits to better align with the brands that you want to wear.
My guest is Solita Roberts, and her focus is to empower us to love and accept who we are, including our body, our personality, and our individual style and in turn accepting who other people are, including their body, personality and individual style. What does it mean to have an inclusive workspace in relation to how we dress? How our clothes are so much more than us buying some shirts and pants. It's all about how we want to express our authentic self and the story behind the clothes and how we dressWhy we are not taught how to dress our authentic self, but only how to dress to fit in and to blend in, especially as women and even more so as black women. how and why we can get stuck if we don't let our wardrobe grow and change along as we grow and changeAnd at the end we talk about what mistakes especially us women can make when dressing and what it has to do with our personal brand and how we show up as business women. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I loved this conversation. If you find value in what Solita and I are talking about, please share it with your friends and business besties because if you find value in it, they will too.Find the full show notes on my website: https://connygraf.comWays to connect with me:Website: https://connygraf.comGet to know the more private me on Instagram orLike and Follow my Facebook PageIf you are ready to go on on a journey from chaos to peace in your mind, surroundings and finances and would love to have me as your guide, opportunities to work with me 1-1 are available.
