We talk to a youngster who sells the Polish Ekolot Special Light-Sport Aircraft. In the news, the Spirit Airlines CEO gets a retention bonus, an FAA review board will look at smoke in the cockpit after bird strikes, JetBlue plans to reduce the number of pilots, and a United Airlines captain delights passengers with pizza. In listener mail, we look at jet emissions and what the industry is doing. Guest Ethan Lin is a 13-year-old who sells the Polish Ekolot Special Light-Sport Aircraft. His family purchased an Ekolot Topaz (N717KM) S-LSA in December 2022 after his father decided to switch careers and become an Air Transport Pilot. Ethan and his father started flying the Ekolot together, and because Ethan loved the plane so much, he contacted the distributor in December 2023 and asked about becoming a dealer. He's been selling Ekolots ever since. Because he is only 13 years old, his father has a role in the dealership, but Ethan handles customer service, selling the airplane, and coordinating meeting times. His father does the test flights with people who are interested in buying Ekolots, and he handles the financial side, including filing taxes. Ekolot Special Light-Sport Aircraft We discuss the difference between LSAs and S-LSAs and the proposed Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule, which would redefine the light sport aircraft category. Ethan explains why his family bought the plane and what he likes about it. He markets the plane with the Ekolot Texas Instagram. Also, Ethan and his father attend aviation events, such as Airplanes and Coffee, a monthly fly-in in the Dallas, Texas area at Addison Airport (KADS). The bonus is effective if Christie stays with Spirit for another year. Under the restructuring plan, Spirit bondholders would take a $350 million ownership position, erase $795 million of debt, and provide $300 million of debt-in-possession financing. The New York Stock Exchange delisted Spirit stock which now trades in the over-the-counter marketplace.  FAA plans to review 737 MAX engine issue after bird strike incidents Two bird strike events in 2023 with Southwest Airlines aircraft (one in March and one in December) have caused the FAA to assemble a review board that will evaluate the safety of the CFM LEAP-1B engines. After the bird strikes, smoke entered the cockpit although the pilots landed the planes safely. The review board will assess safety data and suggest fixes for manufacturers or airlines. These might lead to mandates. A Seattle Times article suggests that any mandated modifications could delay further the certification of the MAX 7 and MAX 10 models. JetBlue Looks to Trim Pilot Workforce Captain downgrades and base displacements are coming to JetBlue late next year. The airline says it will cut 343 captain positions out of the airline's roughly 4,500 pilots. JetBlue lost $60 million in the third quarter and plans to ground more Airbus A220 and A321neo aircraft in 2024 as a result of ongoing Pratt & Whitney engine troubles. The airline is talking with the Air Line Pilots Association to offer early retirements. United Pilot Orders 30 Pizzas to Feed Passengers After Emergency Landing for Medical Care Pilot Scott Wardle was flying a United Airlines plane to Phoenix via Houston, but partway into the flight, a patient fell unconscious. Day 2 of the 2021 Dubai Air Show saw plenty of big ticket announcements. The Airbus A350F was launched with Air Lease Corp. which also placed orders for the A220-300, A321neo, A321XLR and A330neo. Boeing saw orders from Emirates for the 777F, and Emirates also announced it would purchase IAI converted 777-300 freighters. DHL Express purchased more 767 BCFs. ATR launched a new engine on the ATR 72 and 42 with the PW127XT engine series and Air Corsica is the launch customer here. Embraer saw a new customer in Overland airways, and also announced its intent to look at passenger converted freighters. At the Dubai Air Show 2021, the Airbus A350F has been launched, in addition to Indigo Partners ordering 255 A321neo family aircraft for their airlines including Wizz Air, Frontier, Volaris and JetSmart. The Airbus market outlook for the next 20 years was released, and in addition the Boeing 777X made a flying demonstration. Cathay Pacific Group is set to receive 65 new aircrafts by 2024 despite recent developments in Hong Kong; in an effort for fleet modernisation, the group’s 3 airlines – Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon and HK Express (acquired since March 2019 for HK$4.93 billion or US$628 million) will be each taking deliveries of a dozen new aircrafts that better suits their respective market positioning. In order to continue strengthen Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s leading international aviation hub; the group’s existing aircraft order is comprised of 21 Boeing 777-9 aircrafts, 12 A350s and 32 A321neo aircrafts between 2020 and 2024, the group has decided upon the following fleet allocation after a comprehensive review. B777-9X A350 A321neo Cathay Pacific 21 12 n/a Cathay Dragon n/a n/a 16 (2020-2022) HK Express n/a n/a 16 (2022- ) “We have four airlines in the group, each of them has its clear proposition. Einen Luftfahrtgeburtstag der es in sich hat - Happy Birthday, Airbus! (und hier gratuliert ein Boeing-Fan!)Lange ist es her, dass aus Europa Firmen kommen, die in irgendeiner Form marktbeherrschend ein Segment besetzen. Am wenigsten hätte man das bei der offiziellen Gründung von Airbus 29.05.1969 gedacht: das Zweckbündnis zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich und den zuvor abgesprungenen Briten stand irgendwie nicht unter einem guten Stern. Auch die erste Idee, die Namensgeber für die Firma wurde, musste wegen nicht zu bewältigenden Umbaumaßnahmen an den Flughäfen begraben werden: Airbus als ein Bus, in dem quasi im Vorbeifahren ein- und ausgestiegen werden kann. Verrückt, oder? Happy Birthday Airbus! 50 Jahre - und auf dem Weg, Boeing zu überholen! Da kann man schon mal eine A380 zur Feier umlackieren und fliegen lassen! / Bild-Quelle: airbus.com 50 Jahre! Respekt! Und Glückwunsch, Airbus! Und auch, danke Concorde! Klar, die Pläne von Frankreich und Deutschland waren nicht schlecht. Ein Gegengewicht zum Marktführer zu schaffen, der natürlich aus dem Land kam, in dem das Fliegen erfunden wurde, also den USA. Und da dies nicht alleine zu schultern war, da Boeing im Gründungsjahr schon fast ein halbes Jahrhundert Vorsprung hatte, mussten eben Partner gesucht werden - um gegen ein eigentlich deutsches Unternehmen in den USA anzutreten. An sich ging es schon 1965 los - allerdings nur auf deutschem Boden, als alles, was in der Fliegerei Rang und Namen hatte, sich zur "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Airbus" zusammenschloss. Boeing und McDonnell Douglas hießen die Gegner. Allerdings war die damalige Vision, einen echten Air-Bus zu schaffen, der gleichzeitiges Ein- UND Aussteigen realisieren sollte, eine teure Schnapsidee, die sich nicht verwirklichen lies. Die anderen Ansätze, niedrige Flugpreise und schnelle Betankung sind zumindest zur Hälfte heutzutage Wahrheit geworden. Aber dann sprangen die Briten bei der "Aérospatiale" ab, die für die Concorde die Zellkonstruktion planen und bauen sollte - und nun ging die Suche nach einem Partner los. Also steckten Frankreich und Deutschland die Köpfe zusammen und besiegelten, europäisch Staats-tragend, die Gründung von "Airbus" - am 29.05.1969. Nur zur Erinnerung: Die Geburtsstunde von Boeing schlug bereits am 15.07.1916! Nun hieß es für die Europäer aber erst mal, die Russen abzuhängen. Deren Konkurrenzmodell zur Concorde, die Tupolew TU-144, war - auch hier streiten die Protagonisten und Fanclubs der Luftfahrtgeschichte heftig! - der europäischen Concorde überlegen - erlitt aber bei der offiziellen Vorstellung bei einer Flugschau einen spektakulären Crash und war damit aus dem Rennen. Und das, wo die Tupolew einen Flug VOR der Concorde hatte und damit als Gewinner fest stand. Airbus benannte Toulouse, was bis heute fortdauert, als Firmensitz. Das Credo war seit jeher, dass Können zählt mehr als die Staatsbürgerschaft, die bei jedem im Pass steht. Und so fanden auch die Spanier noch den Weg zu Airbus - und die Entwicklung des ersten Modells, des A300, konnte beginnen. Gleich ein großes Brett, da diese Maschine im "kleinsten" Fall Mittel- und im besten Fall Langstrecke bieten sollte. Die Presse selber lies kein gutes Haar an Airbus und der A300: Provinz-Jet war damals eine beliebte Beleidigung. Und jeder Journalist, der gegen die A300 wetterte, sollte Recht behalten - der wahlweise 250 oder 300 Sitzplätze bietende Flieger wollte am Markt keinen Käufer finden. Bis das Telefon klingelte und gerade American Airlines der Erstkunde von Airbus und dem einzigen Modell A300 wurde! Was für eine Klatsche! Eine US-Airline, die bei Airbus in Europa Flugzeuge orderte! Man muss es allerdings neidlos aussprechen: Airbus hat viele Innovationen in die Luftfahrt gebracht, die Boeing etliche Jahrzehnte der Umsetzung gekostet haben: Erstgenannt sei hier die "fly-by-wire"-Technik, die Stahlseile und Rollen in den Rümpfen und quer durch den Flieger, vom Steuerknüppel des Piloten bis zum jeweiligen Flügelelement, überflüssig machten... da dies nun per Kabel als elektrischer Impuls durch die Zelle geschickt wurde. Oder auch das aktuelle Problem von Boeing: die Airbus Flight Envelope Protection: ein Rechner, der zwischen Boden und Flug unterscheidet und somit die maximalen Ausschläge der Steuerelemente verwaltet. Vorbei die Zeiten, wo ein Überziehen katastrophale Folgen nach sich zog - der Rechner drücke entgegen dem Steuerknüppel die Nase einfach nach unten, bis Fahrt aufgenommen wurde und setzte dann den Steigflug automatisch innerhalb der Parameter fort. Airbus hat also früh heutige Standards gesetzt - wurde aber für diese Techniken oder den frühen Übergang von Aluminium und Nieten zu "Plastik" und "Kleben" auch hart kritisiert. An EADS erinnert sich heute wohl kaum noch jemand - auch diese kurze Umstrukturierung hat Airbus nur wie Phoenix aus der Asche steigen lassen. Und was ist aus Airbus geworden! Auch wenn sie ihn mangels Nachfrage, im Jahr 2021 einstellen, sie haben sich gegen Boeing gestemmt und mit der A380 aus meiner Sicht den hässlichsten aber auch einen neuen doppelstöckigen Giganten an den Himmel gezaubert - der für Boeing und Erstkunde Lufthansa für die schnell modernisierte B747-8 das aus dieser Königin der Lüfte bedeutete. Auch Piloten-seitig hat Airbus viele Trümpfe in der Hand: vielleicht nicht unbedingt Steigraten und Agilität, die doch zusehr von der Envelope Protection gehütet werden - aber wer in eine A318 oder A380 steigt, kann in der Theorie sofort los fliegen: das Cockpit-Design ist auf minimale Umschulung, wenn überhaupt, ausgelegt! Ganz anders hier bei Boeing: teilweise wurde in der 737-Reihe schon zwischen einer -400 und dem Nachfolger, der -500, soweit im Design eingegriffen, dass ein neues "Type Rating" für das neue Modell erworben werden musste. Und Airbus arbeitet Meilenstein für Meilenstein ab: Kurz nachdem wir alle "Y2K" und damit den Beginn des neuen Jahrtausends überwunden hatten, sammelte Airbus erstmals mehr Bestellungen ein als Boeing. Und im Jahr 2018 hätten sieben Maschinen mehr in der Auslieferung Boeing erstmals auf Platz 2 verdrängt... nun gut, dank dem 737-Max-Debakel, schnell abgewürgten Qualitätsproblemen und den wohl locker bis Jahresende andauernden Flugverboten, disponieren erste Airlines um - da werden Bestellungen bei Boeing storniert und bei Airbus, der mit der Übernahme der Bombardier CSeries 1000 als A220 ein weiteres Zugpferd im Portfolio hat, neu platziert. Auch hat Airbus, da sie kein "Erbe" wie Boeing mit der 737-Linie mitschleppen müssen, aktuell mit der A320neo und der neuen A330neo die Nase vorn. Während Boeing die 737-Max erst neu gestalten musste, um die größeren Triebwerke, die nun vorne und nicht mehr unter den Flügeln "aufgehängt" sind, unterzubringen, konnte Airbus bei dem jüngeren und durchgehend digital geplanten A320 mit ein paar Mausklicks die neo realisieren. Auch wird wohl demnächst, wenn auch erst mal als Versuchsballon, die neue A321neo auf "direkten" Routen wie Paris-New York über den Atlantik fliegen. Dem hat Boeing aktuell nichts entgegen zu setzen, das Grounding bremst hier die komplette 737-Linie aus. Neben der Tatsache, dass Airbus ein gelungenes Europäisches Gemeinschaftsunternehmen aus Großbritannien, Frankreich, Spanien und Deutschland geworden ist nun bereits seit Jahrzehnten ein ernst zu nehmender Player auf dem Markt ist, ist Airbus gerade für Deutschland ein wichtiger Arbeitgeber: das weltweit zweitgrößte Werk, nicht zuletzt ob der öffentlichen Genehmigung zur umstrittenen Runway-Verlängerung für die A380, steht in Hamburg - Finkenwerder, um genau zu sein. Über 13.000 Mitarbeiter schrauben (oder kleben?) hier täglich an diversen Modellen, zum Beispiel der Kabinenausstattung oder Rumpfteilen für die A380. Vor lauter Feierlaune könnte man jetzt ganz die Skandale vergessen: zum Beispiel die aus dem Ruder gelaufenen Fertigungskosten bei der A380 oder dem Beta-Modell der A400M oder aktuelle Korruptionsermittlungen innerhalb Europas. Aber, ich wage mal eine Prognose: das wird den zivilen Flugzeugen von Airbus nicht schaden - die sind, auch dank dem Durchhänger von Boeing, aktuell ein Verkaufsschlager! Und mit Sicherheit sollte man Innovationen künftig erst mal von Airbus erwarten. Boeing ist, auch auf Grund des doppelten Alters, nun ein wenig träge und altersmüde geworden - eine Lücke, die Jungspund Airbus sicherlich gerne zu füllen vermag - Boeing-Fan zu sein fällt aktuell nicht leicht, ich gebe es offen und ehrlich zu! Une fois son bac en poche, il a débuté une formation de pilote professionnel en Irlande dont une partie de la pratique avait lieu aux Etats-Unis.Nous discuterons de son parcours de formation avant de s’intéresser à sa première expérience professionnelle sur Citation Mustang dans une petite compagnie d’aviation d’affaires. Airbus has landed its biggest-ever order with budget airline investor Indigo Partners signing a deal to buy 430 jets. The agreement, for Airbus's best-selling A320 family of small airliners, is worth a $49.5bn at list prices. Although the order - for 273 A320neos and 157 A321neos - has a list value of almost $50bn, Indigo is unlikely to pay anywhere near as much. The A320neo is priced at $108m and the larger A321neo at $127m but manufacturers offer large discounts on jets. Such a massive order is likely to mean a bigger than normal price reduction. As analysts digested the order - almost twice the size of the company's previous largest deal,  a $26bn sale of 250 A320s to an Indian budget airline - Mr Leahy revealed another sales success. Dublin-based lease company CDB Aviation confirmed MoUs for 90 A320neos. The order takes Airbus's backlog of work on the A320 family of jets to almost 6,000 - the equivalent of almost a decade's work. The company has delivered nearly 8,000 of the aircraft since they were introduced 30 years ago.

Sau 4 ngày dành riêng cho giới chuyên nghiệp và báo chí, ngày 23/06/2017, Triển lãm Hàng không và Không gian Le Bourget lần thứ 52 ( diễn ra 2 năm một lần ) bắt đầu đón tiếp công chúng cho đến ngày 25/06. Cũng như mọi năm, Le Bourget thu hút rất đông khách tham quan, vé bán trên mạng đã gần hết, ai chậm chân sẽ không có dịp để vào chiêm ngưỡng tận mắt hàng trăm máy bay đủ các loại, trong đó có một số kiểu máy bay mới, như A321neo và A350-1000 của tập đoàn châu Âu Airbus hay Boeing 787-10 "Dreamliner" và 737 Max 9 của tập đoàn Mỹ Boeing, hay Antonov 132 D của Nga. Về các màn bay biểu diễn thì ngoạn mục nhất vẫn là của các chiến đấu cơ phản lực và đặc biệt lần đầu tiên từ nhiều năm qua, một chiến đấu cơ phản lực của Mỹ trở lại triển lãm Le Bourget, đó là chiếc F-35A của Không lực Hoa Kỳ, do hãng Lockheed Martin chế tạo. Nhưng ngoài những sự kiện quen thuộc nói trên, năm nay, lần đầu tiên triển lãm Le Bourget dành riêng một khu để giới thiệu những sáng chế mới trong ngành hàng không không gian. Khu này được đặt tên là Paris Air Lab. Paris Air Lab nằm trong gian triển lãm Concorde của Bảo tàng Hàng không và Không gian, nơi trưng bày chiếc máy bay siêu âm nay đã đi vào huyền thoại Concorde. Trong gian triển lãm rộng đến hơn 2.000 m2 này, không chỉ có những tập đoàn hay cơ quan lớn trong ngành không gian, mà còn có cả những công ty khởi nghiệp start-up. Chẳng hạn như những công ty khởi nghiệp Pháp tập hợp trong một nhóm có tên là VR Connection, chuyên về lĩnh vực thực tế ảo. Có mặt tại Paris Air Lab, một đại diện của VR Connection giới thiệu về máy mô phỏng lái trực thăng do họ thiết kế : « Riêng cho Triển lãm Le Bourget, chúng tôi đã chế tạo ra máy mô phỏng lái trực thăng này, tái tạo toàn bộ các cảm giác trong buồng lái, dựa trên một cái ghế đặc biệt có 6 trục. Ngồi trong buồng lái này chúng ta sẽ cảm nhận mọi sự chuyển động của trực thăng rất giống như thật. Về nội dung thì chúng tôi thiết kế một giao diện thực tế ảo với toàn bộ các bộ phận điều khiển trực thăng. Không chỉ làm cho chúng ta có cùng những cảm giác của một phi công lái trực thăng, mà máy mô phỏng này còn tạo ra những hình ảnh như thật bên ngoài buồng lái và tạo ra những tình huống như chúng ta đang lái trực thăng thật. Dự án này sẽ được thương mại hóa trong vài tháng tới. Chúng tôi hiện đang thảo luận với các nhà công nghiệp để tung ra thị trường. Máy mô phỏng lái trực thăng này sẽ được sử dụng trong lĩnh vực dân sự lẫn quân sự, và cả trong lĩnh vực giải trí, vì ở Pháp hiện nay có rất nhiều phòng thực tế ảo nằm rải rác khắp nơi. Chúng tôi sẽ đưa máy mô phỏng lái trực thăng này vào thị trường giải trí đó để người sử dụng tận hưởng trải nghiệm này. » Máy mô phỏng lái trực thăng này là một phần của lĩnh vực kỹ thuật số và những ứng dụng mới trong ngành hàng không và không gian, theo lời đại diện của VR Connection : « Tôi nghĩ là, trong lĩnh vực hàng không và không gian, đây là một công nghệ rất cần thiết, vì có rất nhiều khâu đào tạo và tập luyện không thể được tiến hành trên không và nhất là trong không gian, mà phải cần đến kỹ thuật thực tế ảo, không cần dùng đến vật liệu nào, không gây nguy hại cho người được đào tạo và thực tập. » Paris Air Lab còn là nơi giới thiệu những máy bay của tương lai, và vào đây thì khách tham quan sẽ trầm trồ thán phục trước một kiểu « xe bay » y như trong phim khoa học giả tưởng. Thật ra thì chiếc « xe bay » của công ty Slovaquie AeroMobil chưa hẳn là những chiếc xe bay đi bay lại bên trên các đường phố như ta thấy trong phim, mà là những chiếc xe chạy bình thường trên đường, nhưng có thể chuyển đổi thành máy bay để bay từ sân bay này đến sân bay kia. Ông Hugues Le Cardianal, một đại diện của công ty AeroMobil, giải thích : « Đây không phải là chuyện khoa học giả tưởng, mà đã là thực tế. AeroMobil là một công ty của Slovaquia, đã cho bay thử 3 mẫu xe bay. Mẫu xe đầu tiên đã bay từ năm 2010, tức là cách đây 7 năm rồi. Và chúng tôi đã thiết kế chiếc xe mà ông nhìn thấy trước mặt ông. Đây là một chiếc xe đáp ứng những tiêu chuẩn, những quy định ngành hàng không lẫn ngành xe hơi. Mục tiêu trước mắt của chúng tôi là làm sao chiếc xe này được chứng nhận là một máy bay, và được đăng ký như là xe hơi vào khoảng năm 2019. Chúng tôi dự trù sẽ bắt đầu sản xuất ngay từ năm đó, để có thể giao những chiếc đầu tiên vào năm 2020. Như vậy là khác với những dự án khác, chỉ chế tạo những mẫu xe bay mang tính chất nghiên cứu, chúng tôi không còn trong giai đoạn nghiên cứu nữa, mà đã chuyển hẳn sang giai đoạn thiết kế, đăng ký và sản xuất. Chiếc xe bay này là giải pháp di chuyển cho những đoạn đường dài khoảng 700 km. Nếu đi bằng xe bình thường thì rất lâu, đi bằng máy bay nhỏ thì nhanh hơn nhiều, nhưng khi đáp xuống sân bay nhỏ, ta lại phải tìm mướn một chiếc xe, mà sân bay nhỏ thường nằm ở những nơi hẻo lánh, không dễ gì mà kiếm được xe. Chiếc « xe bay » mà chúng tôi thiết kế rất phù hợp cho những đoạn đường dài khoảng 700 km. Cụ thể là chúng ta lái xe này đến sân bay, rồi chuyển xe hơi thành máy bay, tức là mở hai cánh bay và cánh quạt ra, rồi cất cánh. Sau khi đáp xuống sân bay kia, chúng ta lại chuyển máy bay trở lại thành xe hơi, rồi lái tới điểm đến. Đây là một phương tiện giao thông mới, và hiện giờ thì cơ sở hạ tầng chưa hoàn toàn phù hợp với phương tiện mới này. Nhưng công ty AeroMobil của chúng tôi nghĩ tới khả năng là trong những năm tới, dọc theo các xa lộ người ta sẽ xây « phi đạo » dài khoảng 400 mét để loại xe mới này cất cánh và hạ cánh. » Nhưng chiếc « xe bay » được trưng bày tại Triển lãm Le Bourget chỉ là khởi đầu cho những dự án khác của công ty AeroMobil trong tương lai, như lời ông Hugues Le Cardinal: « Chiếc xe trước mặt chúng ta là chiếc 2 chỗ. Chúng tôi sẽ sản xuất khoảng 500 chiếc như vậy, giá của nó vẫn còn khá đắt. Nhưng bên cạnh đó, chúng tôi dự trù chế tạo những chiếc có kích thước lớn hơn, phù hợp hơn với việc di chuyển trên đoạn đường 700 km. Ngoài ra, để sử dụng loại xe này, ta phải có bằng lái xe và bằng lái máy bay. Trong tương lai, chúng tôi còn có dự án chế tạo những xe bay tự động vì hiện nay đã có rất nhiều công nghệ về máy bay không người lái. Cái này thì còn là chuyện khoa học giả tưởng và hiện giờ, tôi nghĩ là chắc chưa có ai sẳn sàng ngồi lên chiếc « xe bay » tự động, bấm nút để nó tự cất cánh và hạ cánh. Nhưng nên nhớ rằng trong ngành chế tạo xe hơi, người ta đang phát triển ngày càng nhiều kiểu xe tự động mà trong vài năm nữa, chúng ta có thể sử dụng được. » Đến với Paris Air Lab, khách tham quan cũng sẽ có dịp tìm hiểu những phát triển mới trong ngành không gian, chẳng hạn như qua dự án Altair, tức là dự án của châu Âu phóng các vệ tinh nhỏ với chi phí rât thấp, một dự án đáp ứng rất đúng nhu cầu hiện nay. Dự án được thực hiện bởi cơ quan ONERA, trực thuộc bộ Quân Lực ( Quốc Phòng ) Pháp. Ông Gérald Ordonneau, giám đốc chương trình phóng vệ tinh của ONERA, cho biết : « Từ mấy năm qua đã có nhiều thay đổi lớn trong ngành không gian, với sự xuất hiện của rất nhiều vệ tinh cỡ nhỏ. Cho nên rất cần phải giảm chi phí phóng vệ tinh qua việc thiết kế các hệ thống có thể sử dụng lại được. Có nhiều cách để sử dụng lại các hệ thống phóng vệ tinh, chẳng hạn như qua hệ thống SpaceX của Mỹ, nhưng trong khuôn khổ dự án của Pháp, chúng tôi phát triển những giải pháp khác thông qua dự án Altair, chế tạo một hệ thống phóng vệ tinh, với tầng một là một máy bay tự động có thể sử dụng lại được và tầng thứ hai là tên lửa cổ điển. Nhưng hệ thống này gây rất ít ô nhiễm, vì với việc gia tăng phóng vệ tinh, chúng ta cũng phải chú ý đến tác động môi trường. » Còn theo lời cô Julie Gauvrit-Ledogar, nhà khoa học của ONERA, chưa tới 10 năm nữa, hệ thống phóng vệ tinh nói trên sẽ được đưa vào sử dụng : « Trong khuôn khổ dự án Altair, chúng tôi dự trù sẽ đưa các hệ thống phóng vệ tinh đó vào hoạt động vào khoảng năm 2025. Hiện giờ chúng tôi đang trắc nghiệm tính kinh tế của dự án, để từ đó tiến hành lập kế hoạch kinh doanh và nghiên cứu thị trường, để có thể tung ra thị trường vào năm 2025. Chúng tôi thực hiện dự án này cùng với 7 đối tác châu Âu, như Piaggio của Ý,  SpaceTec của Bỉ, Đại học Bách khoa Zurich của Thụy Sĩ, Nammo của Na Uy. Ở Pháp thì chúng tôi cộng tác với cơ quan nghiên cứu Bertin và Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Không gian Quốc gia CNES. Chúng tôi sẽ tiếp tục làm việc với các đối tác này hệ thống phóng vệ tinh mới được đưa vào sử dụng. »
